Gold vs Dark Green Game Highlights

Garrett Paakkonen (2015-Missoula, MT) set the tone and paced the offense for the Gold team, leading the game off with a well struck double down the left field line and later came in to score the first run of the game.
Aidan Cameron (2015-Parker, CO) showed a lot of interesting tools on both sides of the ball. Listed at 6-4 170, Cameron showed athletic actions and light footwork at shortstop, maintaining his balanced on all ground balls hit his way. In the box, the left-handed hitter squared the ball up in both of his at bats. In his first trip to the plate he put the barrel on the ball and lined it directly at the right fielder. His second at bat was a similar swing/contact but different result as he pulled the ball down the line for a stand up double. Cameron ran the bases very well and is able to easily glide due to his long legs and athleticism.
Tanner Bowden (2015-Kaysville, UT) continued to show his tools, especially his hit and speed tools as he did yesterday. In right field he covered a lot of ground, showing a quick first step on a fly ball, and showed a strong arm on the throw in to third base. He also showed a very quick, short swing which resulted in a double to his pull side.
Kam Lane (2015-Eagle-ID) was noted yesterday for his big bat speed and strength in batting practice and he brought that into today's game, jumping on a fastball and putting it over the centerfield fence.
Jared Crockett (2015-Westminster, CO) shows a lot of tools that are only going to get better has he continues to add strength to his quick twitch frame. He picked up a couple of hits in today's game, including a double to left centerfield. Crockett's speed can really impacted a game, especially on the bases.
Travis Marr (2016-Castle Rock, CO) shows a back turn delivery on the mound which helps him hide the ball well and create deception in his delivery. His fastball worked 81-84 mph and was spotting it well to both sides of the plate early on in his outing. Marr also showed a sweeping curveball with some depth in the low 70s which he used to help pick up 5 strikeouts in 3 innings. He helped himself at the plate as well, crushing a hanging curveball to deep centerfield for a standup double and singled in his second trip to the plate.
Taylor Williams (2015-Castle Rock, CO) may have made Perfect Game history and if not, put himself in some rarified air as he struck out 10 batters in three innings. Williams maintained his fastball velocity very well, sitting 83-85 mph and touched an 86 in his last inning of work. He filled up the strike zone with a 4-pitch mix and worked downhill very nicely. His changeup topped at 78 mph and threw both a slider and curveball with noticeable differential in shape between the two.
Issac Bracken (2016-Berthoud, CO) brought some of the arm strength he showed yesterday to the mound today, topping out at 83 mph from an over the top arm slot and mixed in a 12-6 curveball which topped at 70 mph.
Matthew Hansen (2015-Montgomery, TX) throws from a true three-quarter arm slot with a simple, repeatable delivery. His frame projects well and was able to spot his 80-83 mph fastball to the inner half well to right-handed hitters. Hansen was most effective on the mound when he mixed all three of his pitches; his fastball, a 74/75 mph changeup and a curveball in the low-70s which he showed a strong feel for.
Jackson Cluff (2015-Meridian, ID) showed off his smooth athletic actions on a ground ball up the middle which he fielded with soft hands, spun around, and delivered a strike to first base for the final out of the inning.
Maroon vs Steel Game Highlights

Aaron Hammann (2016-Parker, CO) is a right-handed pitcher who projects nicely as he continues to add strength to his frame. Using a fastball in the 81-83 mph, Hammann only faced one batter over the minimum. He maintained his velocity well throughout his outing and showed a feel for a curveball at 65-67.
Bryce Dietz (2015-Castle Rock, CO) started the game for the Maroon team and threw well once he settled in. He showed a fastball that sat consistently in the low 80s, topping 83, with some nice life to his arm side. Dietz was able to keep hitters off balance by mixing in a curveball which topped at 72 mph with some depth and a changeup at 70 mph on his way to picking up two strikeouts.
Ryan Beard (2015-Meridian, ID) showed well yesterday in the skills portion at first base and hit two home runs in batting practice. Today he showed his ability on the mound, topping out at 84 mph with his fastball, one of his four different pitches he threw for strikes. His 2-seam fastball showed some late life at 79 mph and his changeup was 71/72 mph. Beard showed a variation of his curveball throwing a harder one at 73 mph and a 67 mph curve early in the count.
Braden Stutzman (2015-Twin Falls, IA) has impressed with his athletic ability and despite not being listed as a primary catcher, fit right in behind the plate. His athleticism allows him to handle the pitchers well and his arm strength helped him throw out a couple of would be base stealers today. A switch hitter, Stutzman hit two doubles today; one to deep center left-handed and the other down the left field line, this time right-handed.
Jordan Stephens (2015-Parker, CO) showed high level defensive tools and put them on display early, picking a short hopper to him at second base and started a double play with a nice feed to the shortstop. The actions he puts on display are highly athletic and fluid.
Cole McKissock (2016-Colorado Springs, CO) had a nice day at the plate, going 2-2 with a couple of singles, one a line drive into left field.
Jake Eissler (2016-Littleton, CO) turned in a nice performance on the mound yesterday and today showed well with the stick. In his first at bat Eissler put a ground ball through the left side side for a single. His second at bat resulted in a well struck, hard line drive to the right centerfield gap, plating a run for his Steel team.
Tyler Zickel (2014-Highlands Ranch, CO) like his Maroon team Stutzman, Zickel provided some offense for his team, leading off the inning with a double before coming around to score later in the inning.
Columbia Blue vs White Game Highlights

Austin Wood (2016 - Lakewood, CO) pitched at 83-86 MPH with his fastball and threw his curveball at 71 MPH. He has some arm speed and worked down with his fastball well. He threw his curveball better as the game went along. It had some downer action to it. Interesting 2016 arm.
Frank Sheehy (2016 - Houston, TX) pitched at 83-86 MPH with his fastball from a short quick arm action. The ball comes out of his hand clean and projects for more velocity. He threw a 12/6 curveball at 72 MPH with some tightnes to it when he finished out front.
Logan Soole (2015 - Louisville, CO) pitched at 79-82 MPH with his fastball and hides the ball well. He threw a 1/7 curveball with some bite to it.
Jacob Hein (2015 - Colorado Springs, CO) pitched at 78-81 MPH with his fastball. He threw a 12/6 curveball with tight spin to it. Hein has feel for his curveball and threw it for strikes.
Quin Cotton (2016 - Parker, CO) showed hitting tools and had a hard single up the middle. Interesting athletic 2016 outfielder.
Nick Shumpert (2015 - Lone Tree, CO) hammered a fastball up the middle for a single. High level tools.
Cody Basinger (2014 - Fruita, CO) and Isaac Moore (2015 - Colorado Springs, CO) each had doubles for the White team.
William Harris (2015 - Golden, CO) hit a hard double to right center field. He has long levers and showed some bat speed.
Alec Bohm (2015 - Omaha, NE) continued to impress with the bat as he had another hit. Big kid with hitting tools.
Batting Practice Highlights Part 2

MAROON
2015 SS Justin Martinez has a nice calm right handed hitting approach that showed versatility and quality. He started off his round staying inside the ball and hitting opposite field, then unleashed some impressive pull power over his last 3-4 swings. It was a mature batting practice round that stood out.
2015 1B Ryan Beard is a throws left/hits right athlete but his right handed power is noteworthy. His 6-4/215 build gives him some length but also gives him strength and lots of over the fence power.
STEEL
2017 OF Blake Donels is one of many quality young players here from Valor Christian HS in Castle Pines, CO. He has very quick hands for a freshman with some present bat speed and made solid line drive contact. He's one to follow closely in the years ahead.
2015 SS Jordan Stephens will be attending the PG National in Fort Myers, Florida in two weeks, in large part due to his ability with the bat. He has very good bat speed, especially for a 5-10/165 middle infielder, and present gap power.
2016 1B/OF Mitchell Hagan has starred on the Nebraska state high school champions for his first two years in high school and is ready for a big summer. The 6-3/205 switch-hitter has big power from both sides, although his swing from the right side was shorter and crisper today.
WHITE
2016 1B Brayden Petroshus hits from a tall right handed stance with a controlled drift into contact and a short and fast hand path to the ball. He squared the ball up consistently and projects very well offensively.
2015 SS Nicholas Shumpert was also home run hunting a bit more in BP than he otherwise would but he has such special raw bat speed that we'll excuse him for that. We're looking forward to seeing him play often this summer.
2015 LHP/OF Logan Soole is one of the better athletes at the showcase and could develop as either a pitcher or an outfielder. He has tons of raw bat speed, although he tends to pull his front side off the ball early.
2016 SS Sean Rooney is another Valor Christian athlete who has the tools to develop nicely as a hitter over the next couple of years. He has present bat speed and an aggressive swing approach from the left side.
Batting Practice Highlights

COLUMBIA BLUE
2015 OF Greg Pickett was home run hunting a bit too much but he displayed his easy plus bat speed and power, including one home run that was an absolute bomb to right field. It's going to be fun to watch him play all summer.
2015 C Jonathan Davis has a strength generated left handed swing from a spread stance that shows pull power with solid line drive contact. A bit more shift into contact to unleash his strong lower half would be the next step for his development.
2015 3B Alex Bohm had a bit of Pickett's approach in his BP as well and he has the strength in his ++ 6-4/215 build to pull it off. His game swings were outstanding and much simpler and direct.
2017 OF Hodges Bailey hits from a very spread stance but has nice hand quickness for a freshman and the beginnings of some present bat speed. He made solid line drive contact and is very projectable.
GOLD
2015 OF Cam Lane is one of the best athletes at the showcase and has outstanding raw bat speed. He takes a full gorilla cut at the ball, one that was consistent with has game approach, and the the ball explodes off the barrel when he squares it up. He'll have to tone it down for more consistent contact but the tools are there.
2016 C Nathan Pierce also has a very aggressive swing approach with a deep load and a fast, extended pull oriented swing. He lined one BP home run and dented the right field wall a few other times.
2016 OF Alex Zhang has plenty of present strength and sound hitting mechanics from the left side. He, too, looked to hit the ball hard and showed nice gap power with good carry on the ball.
GREEN
2015 SS Jackson Cluff has a quick left handed swing from a balanced straight stance. The Brigham Young commit has more pop to the RCF alley than you'd expect from a 5-10/165 middle infielder.
2015 SS Marc Mumper has a nice simple hitting approach from the right side, with a good shift to his front side and a crisp line drive swing that should continue to develop as he gets stronger.
2015 OF Hunter Strong has a busy load and approach but is has the strength of his name and very good raw bat speed. He may have to simplify his approach for the games but the ball jumped hard off his bat.
2015 3B/1B Caleb Miley has an XXL 6-4/225 build and a power hitter's approach at the plate, with a deep hand load and a long, powerful swing that lifted the ball very well.
2016 C Connor Rule is present strong for a sophomore and has a short, hand oriented swing from a spread stance that produced consistent hard line drives to all fields.
Gold vs Columbia Blue Game Highlights

Matt Roll (2015-Meridian, ID) threw three solid innings for the Columbia Blue team. Throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot, Roll was able to create nice downhill plane and showcased a three pitch mix. He filled up the zone with a fastball in the 82-84 mph range from a compact arm action. His fastball didn't overpower hitters but he was able to get outs with all three pitches, including a mid 70s changeup and a slider at 72 mph which showed nice depth.
Chandler Greenfield (2016-Filer, ID) impressed in his three innings of work. With a long, projectable frame, Greenfield worked his fastball between 84-86 mph, coming out of his hand clean and easy. He worked downhill well with a loose, whippy arm action and showed an excellent feel for both off speed pitches. His changeup was in the mid-70s but it was his 11/5 curveball with nice depth that was his go to out pitch. Greenfield maintained his arm action/speed nicely, not tipping what pitch would be coming in to the batter. He struck out six in his three innings and picked up two hits of his own at the plate.
Tanner Bowden (2015-Kaysville, UT) worked downhill vey well with his fastball (topped at 82) and showed the ability to spot it to both sides of the plate. His delivery was balanced and repeated well. He also featured a short breaking slider at 72 mph. Bowden also swung the bat very well, collecting a single and a double. He caused some havoc on the bases due to his speed and once he got going it looked like he was simply gliding.
Alec Bohm (2015-Omaha, NE) continues to show well in the showcase on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-4 Bohm moved well laterally on his feet at third base and showed a strong arm across the infield. In the box he went 2-2 with each hit being equally as impressive. His first was a single which he kept his weight back nicely on a curveball on the outer half and lined it into centerfield. His next hit allowed him to touch all four bases as he turned on a fastball and sent it about 400 feet to left center field.
Kam Lane (2015-Eagle,ID) showed some of the loudest tools in the showcase during the drills portion and showed well with the bat in game. He is able to generate excellent bat speed and with his strength, collected two hard line drive singles to his pull side.
Jacob Hein (2015-Colorado Springs, CO) had a nice day at the plate picking up two hard line drive single, one to left field and another to right field.
Nathan Pierce (2016-Colorado Springs, CO) showed some strength to his pull side, picking up a triple to deep right field.
Parker Eischen (2016-Parker, CO) showed a nice feel for the barrel and a sound approach at the plate. In his first at bat he sat back on a 72 mph curveball and line it into left field for a single. He did more of the same in his second trip, lining a pitch into centerfield for a single.
Steel vs White Game Highlights

Jared Case (2016 - Parker, CO) pitched at 84-86 MPH with his fastball. He threw a change up at 75-76 MPH that was a good out pitch. He has a consistent release and slot and threw 3 pitches for strikes. Case has a young projectable body with all the ingredients to the pitch at the next level.
Jake Eissler (2016 - Littleton, CO) topped at 86 MPH with his fastball. He worked primarily in mid the 80's with a 77-79 MPH change up. He filled up the zone with three pitches, very effective three innings throwing strikes.
Desmond Pineda (2016 - Centennial, CO) pitch at 80-83 MPH with his fastball. He utilized a three pitch mix to attack hitters. He threw a 69 MPH curveball that showed depth. He threw a change up in the mid 70's with lots of deception. Hitters weren't picking it up well.
Lucas Desantis (2015 - Littleton, CO) pitched at 80-82 MPH with his fastball. He has a projectable 6'4 200 lb frame. Interesting arm with some projection.
Cole McKissock (2016 - Colorado Springs, CO) had 2 hits with a double. He showed some hitting tools at the plate.
Nick Shumpert (2015 - Lone Tree, CO) showed good defensive actions and made it look really easy. Very high level tools across the board. He showed a patient approach at the plate with very good bat speed. Kentucky commit.
Austin Wood (2016 - Lakewood, CO) hammered a ball to the left center field gap. He showed some bat speed and strength in his swing.

Peyton Remy (2015 - Parker, CO) pitched at 85-88 MPH with his fastball with a loose arm action. The ball comes out of his hand clean and projects for more velocity. Remy threw a curveball with good shape and downer action to it at 75 MPH. He threw strikes with 3 pitches and showed some pitchability. University of New Mexico commit.
Ryan Connolly (2015 - Castle Rock, CO) pitched at 80-84 MPH with his fastball. He has a long lean build with projectable strength and arm strength. The ball comes out of his hand well and he projects for more velocity. He threw his curveball at 71 MPH for strikes. University of Nebraska commit.
Nathan Sweeney (2016 - Centennial, CO) pitched at 83-86 MPH with his fastball from a loose arm action. He has a quick arm action and projects for more velocity. Sweeney showed good feel for his breaking ball at 71 MPH and with good shape and spin to it. His curveball has potential to be a hammer as he gets stronger.
Jackson Cluff (2015 - Meridian, ID) made hard contact at the plate collecting a couple hits. He showed advanced instincts and actions defensively at both MIF positions. Cluff played like a gamer and showed good tools across the board. BYU commit.
Marc Mumper (2015 - Highlands Ranch, CO) had 2 hits and showed good hitting tools at the plate. He also showed good defensive tools and instincts. Grand Canyon commit.
Jared Crockett (2015 - Westminster, CO) had 2 hits as well and showed quick hands at the plate. He also showed good game speed and instincts on the bases.
Ben Rodriguez (2015 - Sioux City, IA) has 2 hits and 2 RBI. His swing has improved since the Iowa Spring League and is keeping his hands inside the ball better with better bat speed.
Braden Stutzman (2015 - Twin Falls, ID) showed good tools across the board. He hammered a double to the right center field gap and showed good game speed getting to second base. He also showed good receiving actions and catch and throw tools behind the plate. Interesting player with upside.
Ryan Beard (2015 - Meridian, ID) hit a double and scored a run for the Maroon team as well.
