TOP 30 Seniors
1. Michael Burgess (2007, OF Tampa, FL): Looked like he was in great shape, superior
bat speed and power potential, top level OF arm strength, excellent baseball instincts.
Definite first round candidate.
2. Angel Morales (2007, OF, Arroyo, PR): Many compare to Carlos Beltran, 5-tool
potential with plus athletic ability, very quick bat, everything still very projectable.
If the bat comes, he could be special.
3. Yasmani Grandal (2007, C, Hialeah, FL): Advanced defensive skills/tools, may
be the best defensive catching prospect in the ’07 class, switch-hitter with bat
speed and power potential. Great baseball makeup.
4. Nevin Griffith (2007, RHP, Brandon, FL): Profile pitcher’s build with long, loose
arm, throws low 90’s to 94 mph with little effort, CB and SL show potential, coming
on as fast as any 2007 pitcher in the country.
5. Denny Almonte (2007, OF, Miami, FL): High ceiling athlete with all the tools,
pro profile body with strength, switch-hitter, 6.5 runner, 90+ arm strength. Could
be a big sleeper in the 2007 draft.
6. Jiwan James (2007, OF, Willistan, FL): Smooth, graceful athlete with a tremendous
upside, 6-4, 170 lb body projects all the way. Gold Glove level defensive tools,
switch-hitting ability, plus running speed.
7. Nathan Striz (2007, RHP, Lakeland, FL): Strong, mature right hander with present
sinker/slider stuff. Plus command of low 90’s fastball. Has a good idea and can
dominate hitters now.
8. Rafael Thomas (2007, OF, Lufkin, TX): Game changing quickness/speed with excellent
base running instincts. Baseball player, has strength in his swing and defensive
ability. Juan Pierre type player/athlete.
9. Joseph Hage (2007, OF, Coral Springs, FL): Gamer with very good present strength,
body life. Quick strong hands, drives the ball hard, can run and throw in the outfield,
a very aggressive player with tools.
10. Tyler Holt (2007, OF, Gainesville, FL): Hyper aggressive outfielder with athletic
tools, very good speed, plus fundamentals offensively and defensively. High performance
type who will excel immediately.
11. Moises Montero (FA, C, Dominican Republic ): Young Dominican prospect with an
extra strong build, Major League arm strength, surprising athletic quickness, raw
bat speed at the plate. Has the tools excel at the highest levels
12. Devon Torrence (2007, OF, Canton, OH): Elite level athlete with a football ride
to Ohio State , plus speed, has switch-hitting ability with projectable power, baseball
skills raw but could develop with time
13. Jimmy Nelson (2007, RHP, Niceville, FL): Big bodied young pitcher at 6-6, 230,
just getting strong, slider is a nasty pitch, commands it well, upper 80’s fastball
will keep improving, high ceiling young talent.
14. Gaspar Santiago (2007, LHP, Vega Baja, PR): Loose and athletic southpaw with
a deceptive delivery and live arm; fastball is always around 90 mph and is projectable,
solid curveball, competes well
15. Jonathan Rodriguez (2007, 3B, San Juan, PR): Extra strong but agile for his
size and can play 3B, bat speed with plus power, knows how to hit, tremendous leverage
at contact, high ceiling young hitter.
16. Johnny Dishon (2007, OF, Beaumont, TX): Excellent athlete who combines speed,
strength and projectability, can run them down in centerfield with the best of them,
bat will determine his ceiling
17. Yoandy Barroso (2007, OF, Miami, FL): Extra strong build with all the tools
to excel, ball jumps off his bat, easy power, hands explode to the ball, plus arm
strength.
18. Glen Troyanowski (2007, RHP, Margate, FL): Slender, live bodied RHP with a quick
projectable arm, low 90’s fastball with more to come, pounds the strike zone aggressively,
change is a solid second pitch.
19. Timothy Ferguson (2007, SS, Beaumont, TX): Long and lean infielder at 6-2, 175,
has bat speed beyond his strength, 6.6 runner, intelligent player who keeps getting
better and better, great projection.
20. Edmond Sparks (2007, C, Hampton, GA): Very strong athlete, still new to catching,
special arm strength, has power in his bat, improving every time we see him play,
could be sleeper for pro ball.
21. Jose Rodriguez (2007, OF, Hialeah, FL): Plus present strong, loose actions for
his size, profile RF tools, very good bat speed with power potential, the ball jumps
off his bat hard.
22. Luke Smierciak (2007, IF/RHP, Gaineville, FL): Small build but big tools, top
level arm strength, has middle infield actions, solid line drive hitting skills,
throws low 90’s off the mound.
23. Jordan Lucas (2007, 3B, Port Charlotte, FL): Profile build with projection,
smooth athletic actions, swings the bat with power, top level defensive skills,
also throws 90 off the mound
24. Trevor Reckling (2007, LHP, Newark, NJ): Strong build at 6-3, 200 lbs, quick
arm with a deceptive delivery, upper 80’s heavy fastball, challenges and knows how
to pitch, should keep improving.
25. Gregory Annarummo (2007, 3B, Rehoboth, MA): Strong, mature athlete whose skills
keep improving, quick bat with power to all fields, athletic defensive player, also
throws 90 off the mound.
26. Raymond Quinones (2007, IF, New York City, NY): Lean athlete with lots of upside,
3B best position, live bat with gap to gap power, aggressive player with skills
across the board.
27. Raymond Rodriguez (2007, OF, Caguas , PR): Loose and projectable athlete at
6-2, 185 lbs, shows all the tools now, aggressive hitter with some pop in his bat,
runs and throws well.
28. Brandon Bonner (2007, RHP, St. Petersburg, FL): Extra strong at 6-5, 220, loose
arm and easy 90-91 mph velocity, nice change up, needs some mechanical work but
has a high ceiling.
29. Daniel Barnes (2007, RHP, Manhasset, NY): Good pitcher’s build, sound delivery,
heavy fastball tops out at 91 mph, good Chg/CB, knows how to pitch, top student
signed to Princeton.
30. Nikko Navarro (2007, C, Pembroke Pines, FL): Strong present build and skills,
switch-hitter with bat speed and power from both sides, has improved his defensive
tools/quickness significantly.
TOP 5 Underclassmen
1. Harold Martinez (2008, SS, Miami, FL): Huge tools with big league profile and
projection. Plus bat speed and power potential, ultra smooth defensive actions,
top level arm strength. One of the top 2008 players to watch.
2. Hunter Cervenka (2008, LHP, Baytown, TX): Strong, athletic body with good strength
and life. Lives in the low 90’s, balls explode on the hitters, tight slider works
for strikeouts. Can hit with power at the plate as well.
3. Brian Ellington (2008, RHP, Gainesville, FL): High ceiling young 2008 prospect,
athletic and loose with plus projection, curveball and change are potential plus
pitches, throws low 90’s, has some delivery issues to work out.
4. Tyler Pastornicky (2008, SS, Bradenton, FL): Live bodied athletic middle infielder
with tools and plus instincts, good bat quickness, nice swing mechanics. Loves to
play and will keep improving
5. Joe Hainsfurther (2008, SS/C, Dallas, TX): Ballplayer with tools, switch-hitter
with bat speed both ways, shortstop actions, but profiles better at catcher, really
knows how to play and perform.
