PERFECT GAME SOUTH TOP PROSPECT SHOWCASE   1 - Kendal Volz - RHP - 6'4/210 - Smithson Valley HS - Bulverde, TX The 6-4, 210 lb Volz threw 90-91 mph easily and consistently and also had a mid 70's slurve type breaking ball that has sharp bite to it.  We've heard of Volz touching 95 mph in the past.  He's a good athlete and a big time power pitching prospect.   2 - Kevin Cravey - RHP - 6'1/170 - Klein Oak HS - Spring, TX Cravey has a very loose arm that produces an 86-89 mph fastball and a sharp breaking 78 mph true curveball that's a plus pitch right now.  He was also the best defensive player at the showcase and only some work with the bat keeps him from being just as good a position prospect as pitching prospect.   3 - Jarrod Gaskey - OF - 6'2/200 - Azle HS - Azle, TX Gaskey has raw skills but had the best tools of any player in Waco.  Despite being a strong 6-2, 200 athlete, he recorded the fastest 60 time at 6.79, threw 87 mph from the outfield and touched 90 from the mound and showed over the fence home run power.   4 - Matt Jackson - RHP - 6'3/170 - Haughton HS - Haughton, LA Jackson is a projectable 6-3, 170 lb right hander with a loose, fluid arm action.  He threw a boring 85-87 mph fastball that should gain velocity in the future and also had a sharp 74 mph curveball.   5 - Justin Walker - 3B - 6'4/200 - Highland Park HS - Dallas, TX The 6-4, 200 lb Walker was the best power hitting prospect at the showcase and had some very good at bats against good pitching.  He also showed prospect quality tools on the mound with an 87 mph fastball.   6 - Thomas Brady - OF - 6'1/187 - Plano HS - Plano, TX The left handed hitting Brady was the best pure hitter at the showcase and hit the ball hard consistently to all fields and has some juice in his bat.  He also made a catch in centerfield that Jim Edmonds would have been proud of.   7 - Jeremy Erben - RHP-IF - 5'11/185 - New Braunfels HS - New Braunfels, TX Erben pounded the strike zone with a heavy 85-87 mph sinker and quality 71 mph curveball.  He's also an infield prospect with some pop in his bat and is a tough kid who plays very hard.   8 - Zack Harwood - RHP - 6'1/170 - Port Neches HS -Groves, TX Harwood is a projectable 6-1, 170 lb right hander with a quick, short arm stroke.  His fastball was 85-87 mph and he had a nice 2-plane 71 mph curveball.   9 - Michael Wright - OF - 5'8/160 - Lockhart HS - Lockhart, TX Wright's raw tools wouldn't make a prospect list but he plays the game harder than just about any player we've seen.  He impacts every game he plays in and reminds us of a Pete Rose type player when Rose was in his prime.   10 - Jackson Burkhart - C-RHP - 6'3/195 - Ryan HS - Corinth, TX Burkhard has a pro type body at 6-3, 195 lbs.  His catching skills and bat are playable but what really intrigued us was when he came in and threw 88 mph after catching 2 days in the Waco sun.  He's worth following closely at both positions.
