Event Name: South Underclass Showcase
Event Type: Showcase
Site: Baylor University - Waco, TX
Date: July 29-31st, 2004
Last year’s Underclass Showcases were a huge
benefit to many excellent underclassmen prospects. In fact many of those
listed on the Top 04 and 05 Prospects list in Baseball America and Prospects
Plus attended last year’s Underclass showcases. The Top Prospect games that
were played at the conclusion of last year’s Underclass Showcases had some
of the best talent in America.. Many of these
players have the chance of being high draft picks and most are high level
Division One prospects.
The Underclass Showcases were started due to many requests from Major League
Scouting Departments and top College programs. They are very interested in
tracking young players for future recruiting and the MLB draft. The more
they know about these players the more secure they feel about investing
their money. Scouts and recruiters don’t have the time to scour the country
looking for underclassmen. That is why Perfect Game’s Underclass events
have become so important. |

All
players that attend the Underclass Showcase will be profiled on the popular
Perfect Game Website. The best players will be ranked nationally by Baseball
America and Prospects Plus and will become the most well known and most
sought after baseball prospects in the future. Underclass Showcases will end
with a two team Top Prospect Game comprised of the top prospects from the
events. The Top Prospect teams will be selected by PG Staff & other scouts
at the event.
If a player is truly a prospect, everyone will soon know who he is. Perfect
Game reports to all 30 major league scouting departments and every top level
college in America. Due to the demand created by last year’s successful
events and the fact that most top players who are still underclassmen plan
to attend again this year, it is vitally important that players sign up
ASAP. All of last year’s showcases were full and we will definitely have to
turn players down again once the event is filled up. This is a great
opportunity for those who have baseball talent. Questions, feel free to
email jarp@perfectgame.org or call Jim Arp, National Scouting Coordinator,
