PG World Underclassmen Sets a New Record

The World Underclassmen Showcase set a new Perfect Game Showcase record. The most ever states represented before at a PG Showcase was 38. The only PG event with more was the Perfect Game/Baseball America World Championship held each October in Jupiter, FL. And of course that is a tournament. This year’s Underclassmen had players from 41 different states and 5 countries.  As usual the talent was outstanding with many of the top underclassmen prospects from the next few classes. The Underclassmen is best described as a giant talent hunt. It is our very first look at many of the talented young players. A large number of our highest ranked “03” players were first seen at our Underclassmen events.  This year proved to be yet another scouting bonanza for PG.  Remember these names and many of the others listed below. Bobby Cassavah (FL), Blake Johnson (LA), Stephen Chapman (FL), Erik Cordier (WI), Nick Loden (FL), David Kopp (FL), Raudel Alfonso (FL), Michael Schlact (GA), the list goes on and on with many of the nations top “04’s”. The top “05’s” were in Ft Myers too, Justin Bristow (VA), Eric Massingham (CA), Chris Dominguez (FL), Zach Putnam (MI), Adam Severino (FL) and many others who are among the very best in the class. The “06” class was outstanding as well. In a couple years it will be discovered that several not so highly ranked players from this year’s event will become highest level draft and college prospects.  After all, we weren’t all that high on Chris Lubanski (projected 1st round pick this June) and many others after the first time we saw them. Lubanski just looked like a skinny kid who could run, but he projected very well. The Underclassmen events are some of the most fun we have in scouting. It’s always great to see the best players again, but it’s even better seeing talented young players for the first time. All the World Underclassmen player profiles are available elsewhere on this site.
