Below is a list of players that Perfect Game recognized as top performers / prospects in the World Wood Bat tournament. Many of these players listed have been evaluated and recognized based on more than just statistics from the event. We weigh heavily all tools that these players show during every phase of competition. There is a variable component that goes into our evaluation, therefore many players may have less velocity or less favorable statistics and be a more highly ranked prospect. This list has no correlation and is not to be confused with our Baseball America/Perfect Game Prospects Plus National ranking list. There is no correct order. T

Top 20 Sophomores (2004 Grads)

1. Troy Patton, LHP	6' 1/170	Magnolia, TX	Columbia Angels
Troy throws from a low ¾ arm slot and threw an outstanding complete game in Jupiter. He was 86-89 mph and touched 91. He also has a slider with a big hook and registered 13 strikeouts in the game. He is definitely one of the top 04's in the nation at this time.
2. John Michael Vidic, RHP/OF	6' 4/205	Marietta, GA	East Cobb
J.M. is a big strong pitcher who demonstrated command with 3 pitches that included an 85-89 mph fastball that touched 90 and worked it in and out effectively. He has a strong body and can really pitch. He very well could be the most projectable 04 out there.
3. James Parr, RHP	6' 0/180	Alburquerque, NM	Team California 03
James throws 2 pitches with good command and showed the makings of a split fingered pitch too. His fastball was 87-91 and touched 92 mph. His curve was also a good one with a hard break. It will be extremely interesting to see how good he becomes over the next two years.
4. Eric Hurley, RHP	6' 4/180	Jacksonville, FL	Team Florida USA 03
Eric has a fast arm and showed it with his 86-89 mph fastball. He threw a lot of curveballs but his best pitch is the fastball that has some late movement with both tailing and cutting action. He has a semi low arm angle and projects very well. Should be a top guy in 04.
5. Joey Williamson, RHP/C	6' 2/180	Lantana, FL	PG USA Green
Joey looked strong and hit the ball hard with wood, had good bat-speed, has a strong arm from behind the plate and pitched very well. He was 86-89 mph and his curveball was sharp. He will be watched like a hawk for the next two years.
6. Brian Futral, RHP	6' 4/170	Newnan, GA	PG USA Green
Brian threw a consistent 86-87 mph fastballwith a good arm motion and he topped out at 89 mph. He had a good bite on his slider and worked in a change-up for strikes. He looked loose and projects well. He's big already and has a world of talent.
7. Chris Jones, OF/RHP	6' 1/205	Trabuco Canyon, CA	Team California 03
Strong athletic player with 2-way capabilities , has a powerful bat, ran a 6.9 in the 60 and can also pitch, touching 88 mph on the mound. Time will tell, if he becomes a better position player or pitcher. Right now he is a big prospect both ways.
8. Warren McFadden, OF	6' 0/180	Plantation, FL	South Florida Giants
Warren had some powerful hits to all parts of the field, can run well (6.5 in the 60) and has a strong arm. He has a lot of tools and has a strong body for his age. He is kind of the 04 version of Lastings Milledge, who is our #1 ranked 03 prospect.
9. Josh Clendenon, OF	6' 2/210	Acworth, GA	East Cobb # 2
Has a mature approach at the plate with excellent bat-speed and has a plus body. He had some very impressive swings and looks like he has some big power potential. He deserves to be ranked very high on anyones 04 list.
10. Alex Garabedian, C	6' 1/180	Hialeah, FL	South Florida Giants
Alex showed a lot of excellent catching and hitting tools. He is a solid catcher with an athletic body and a very strong arm. He is one that we will watch closely. He could be the top 04 catcher in the nation.
11. Brian Van Kirk, C/OF	6' 1/192	SW Ranches, FL	Hofball
Excellent tools catcher with good footwork, arm strength, loose hands and some power in his bat. He has a good build and a level swing with good balance. Another guy in the running for top 04 catcher ranking.
12. Christopher Nelson, SS/RHP	5'10/160	Decatur, GA	East Cobb
Chris has excellent SS actions with good range and runs well on the bases. He is a good leadoff hitter and he showed the ability to play the game with athleticism and intelligence. A definite threat to become a very high pick by 04 if he continues to improve.
13. John Lalor, RHP	6' 6/193	Germantown, TN	PG USA Black
Good young pitcher with lots of room for improvement and already throwing an easy 85-86 mph. His older brother 'Conor' is a top 02 pitching prospect. John is taller and even more projectable.
14. Billy Butler, 1B	5' 11/205	Jacksonville, FL	Team Florida USA 03
Has a short and powerful stroke and can really hit the ball hard. We saw the ball jump off his bat. His other skills need some work, but he may be the best hitter in the 04 class.
15. Tommy Wynn, RHP	6' 3/175	Ft. Lauderdale, FL	PG USA Maroon
Has a good pitchers build with a smooth arm action that produced 80-85 mph fastballs and a good curve. He projects to get much better and he's very good already.
16. Jesse Green, LHP	6'3/180	Pompano Beach, FL	South Florida Bandits
Had an 80-84 mph fastball that topped out at 86 mph and a good bite on slurve. He has a great future.
17. Osmar Chaviano, RHP/3B	6' 2/195	Hialeah, FL	Miami Dade Baseball
Had a lively 81-84 mph fastball, good breaking curve and looked strong with room to get stronger.
18. Tim Ladd, LHP	5' 9/160	Acworth, GA	East Cobb
Good lefty pitcher with an 83-86 mph fastball and good curve. Knows how to pitch and will get better.
19. Giovanni Gonzalez, LHP	5'10/160	Hialeah, FL	Miami Dade Baseball
Really knows how to pitch. Has an 83-86 mph fastball and working curve and change-up.
20. Brad Emaus, SS/2B	5' 11/165	Senoia, GA	East Cobb
Quick and agile in the infield, has good range and has power in his bat. He can really play.

There were other 04's who stoodout in Jupiter, but these 20 are the ones that created the most interest from the PG Scouting Staff.
