2015 California Underclass Showcase

Jared Llanos (2018 SS, Lancaster, CA) had a good showing at the plate today including smoking a double down the line. Llanos has good balance at the plate and displayed the ability to square the ball up at the plate. 

Ezele Wicks (2017 OF, Whittier, CA) had a triple in his first at bat of the day. Wicks has a good swing at the plate and the ball jumps off his bat. 

A.J. Hollis (2017 MIF, Palos Verdes Estates, CA) had 2 singles in the game today for the Orange team. Hollis has a sound approach at the plate with a nice easy swing and makes hard contact. 

Gavin Haimovitz (2018 OF, Solvang, CA) topped out at 84mph on the mound  this afternoon mixing in a curveball at 66mph. Haimovitz pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot and will drop down to side arm as well mixing in both pitches for strikes and is able to keep hitters off-balance. 

Tom Liu (2018 RHP, San Dimas, CA) topped out at 82mph with his fastball mixing in a slider at 70mph and a changeup at 74mph. Liu pitches with good tempo on the mound has a good feel for his changeup with he throws for strikes continuously and has good sink to his fastball.

Trevor Cadd (2018 - Riverside, CA) continued where he left off and showed advanced barrel skills and approach at the plate.  He barreled up the ball every at bat and it was loud contact.  He also threw a strike from center field on a sac fly with carry on it.  Very interesting young player with big upside.

Benjamin Guess (2018 - Arcadia, CA) pitched at 80-82 MPH with a quick arm action.  There's more in there with a few adjustments.

Kohl Titzler (2017 - Hermosa Beach, CA) pitched at 80-82 MPH with some arm speed.  He threw a curveball with some bite to it at 68 MPH. 

Mason Thompson (2017 - Chula Vista, CA) pitched at 79-81 MPH with his fastball with some arm speed.  He threw a good 12/6 curveball with bite and shape to it at 68-71 MPH.  

Carson Seymour (2017 - Temecula, CA) pitched at 79-81 MPH with a clean arm action.  There's more velocity in there with some lower half adjustments.

Giancarlo Cortez (2019 - Chula Vista, CA) and Drake Benner (2017 - Carlsbad, CA) each went 3 for 3 in the game.  Cortez hit a double.  

Cade Brown (2018 - Cardiff, CA) had 2 hits in the game with 2 doubles.  He showed some strength in his swing.

Daniel Genna (2018 - Walnut, CA) had 2 hits in the game.  He also showed good receiving and blocking skills behind the plate. 

Chris Rubottom (2017 - Long Beach, CA) also had 2 hits in the game.  He showed solid hitting tools.

Brendan Cindric (2017 LHP, Danville, CA) had his fastball top out at 82mph this morning to go along with his curveball at 66mph and his slider at 70mph. Cindric has good arm side life to his fastball with arm speed and uses his slider as an out pitch. 

Matthew A. Rodriguez (2017 RHP,  La Puente, CA) sat 80-84mph on his fastball as well as mixing in a slider at 68mph. Rodriguez pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a heavy fastball and he is aggressive with. 

Alex Andranovich (2017 MIF, San Diego, CA) had a good showing defensively today. Andranovich has good lateral agility with quickness and soft sure hands.

Drake Benner (2017 OF, Carlsbad, CA) had 2 hits in the game for the Purple team this afternoon including a triple. Benner displayed good plate coverage with a level swing and has bat speed. 

Casey "CJ" Shapiro (2017 OF, Hermosa Beach, CA) also had 2 hits in the game today. Shapiro has a sound approach at the plate and makes consistent contact. 

Haidyn Winther (2018 OF, Studio City, CA) had 2 hits in the game including a double in the game. Winther has a level swing with pop and is aggressive on the bases.

Gilbert Rodriguez (2017 3B, Whittier, CA) had 2 hits in the game including a double in the game. Rodriguez has quick hands at the plate with pop in his bat and does a good job of hitting the ball where it's pitched. 

Andres Hurtado (2017 RHP, Downey, CA) sat 77-80mph on his fastball to go with his curveball at 67mph, his slider at 72mph and his changeup at 68mph. Hurtado throws a heavy fastball with lots of arm side run on it, his changeup has fade to it, and he throws a curveball with good depth and has sharp break to it. 

Henry Leake (2017 3B, Burbank, CA) topped out at 84mph on his fastball to go along with his curveball at 67mph. Leake pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a sound delivery and does a good job of using his lower half.

Trevor Cadd (2018 - Riverside, CA) hammered a deep home run down the left field line.  It sounded really good off his bat and he showed very good bat speed on the swing.  He also hit a couple hard line drives for hits.  

Cade Brown (2018 - Cardiff, CA) pitched at 77-80 MPH with a loose arm action.  He has a big frame that projects well and showed the ability to spin a breaking ball.

Andrew Talley (2017 - Long Beach, CA) hit a hard 2B over the left fielders head.  He showed some bat speed and barreled up the ball well.

AJ Hollis (2017 - Palos Verdes Estates, CA) threw a strike from CF to nail a runner at home plate trying to score from second base on a base hit.  It was online with some carry.

Andrew Crane (2017 - San Diego, CA) pitched at 78-81 MPH with his fastball with good run on it.  He has a loose arm with quickness and projects for more velocity.

Chris Casipit (2018 - Fremont, CA) had 2 hits for the Navy team.  He showed a line drive swing.

Kohl Titzler (2017 - Hermosa Beach, CA) hit a line drive to right center field for a double.  Clifford Pradd (2017 - Riverside, CA) also hit a hard double in the game.  Pradd also showed good defensive actions and tools in the game making a few tough plays.

Joshua Gumm (2018 – Manhattan Beach, CA) showed a quick arm action with fastball velocity up to 81 MPH.  He also showed some deception to his delivery. 

Javahn Devers (2017 – Quartz Hill, CA) was up to 80 MPH with his fastball and located it well.  He threw a lot of strikes and showed some feel for his curveball. gu

Jake McKenna (2017 – Palos Verdes Estates, CA) was up to 80 MPH with his fastball with a deceptive delivery.  He has more velocity in there with timing adjustments to his delivery. 

Andrew Beauvais (2018 – Claremont, CA) was up to 78 MPH with his fastball and showed some sink on it.  He showed some feel for his curveball and projects for more velocity with some lower half adjustments.

 Alexander Devine (2017 – Fairfield, CA), Victor Fimbres (2017 – San Fernando, CA), Kewin Ledesma (2017 – Montrose, CA), Frankie Espinoza (2017 – Santa Fe Springs, CA), Sean Whorley (2017 – Torrance, CA), and Matthew A. Rodriguez (2017 – La Puente, CA) all had at least 2 hits in the game.  Espinoza and Whorley each had 3 hits in the game.  Ledesma showed some pop with a double and a home run.

Jordan Greenway (2017 OF, Palos Verdes Estates, CA) showed good bat speed bat speed with natural lift in his swing. 

Joseph Fortin (2017 3B, Los Angeles, CA) made hard consistent contact at the plate with quick hands. 

Zeb Storie (2017 SS, Juneau, AK) showed a line drive swing plane at the plate and the ball jumped off his bat.

Riley Carter (2019 1B, Carlsbad, CA) showed great hitting tools at the plate. He showed projectable power at the plate with added strength.

Dante Faicchio (2017 3B, Laguna Beach, CA) hit from a wide stance and the ball was jumping off his bat.

Victor Ortiz (2017 1B, Brawley, CA) showed good strength in his swing and made hard contact at the plate.

Ezele Wicks (2017 OF, Whittier, CA) showed quick hands at the plate with a line drive swing plane and good bat speed. 

Nickelas Atkins (2017 SS, Los Angeles, CA) showed good barrel control at the plate and good plate coverage during his BP round. 

Mason Thompson (2017 LHP, Chula Vista, CA) showed a line drive swing plane with good bat speed at the plate.

Carson Seymour (2017 3B, Temecula, CA) hit from a wide stance with natural lift in his swing. 

Tanner Lewis (2017 LHP, Las Vegas, NV) showed quick hands at the plate and some pop to his pull side.

Gilbert Rodriguez (2017 3B, Whittier, CA) showed the ability to hit the ball the other and showed power at the plate.
