Stetson Allie of the East Cobb Braves topped out at 99 MPH in the game today between the Braves and FTB Mizuno. Allie (2010 RHP-St. Edward HS, Olmsted Falls, OH) sat consistently 95-96 with a 89 MPH changeup. Stetson will also be pitching again this weekend in the PG National Showcase.

Starting the game against the Diamond Devils, Orlando Scorpion RHP AJ Cole (2010 Oviedo HS-Winter Springs, FL) threw 92-94, topping out at 96 MPH. Cole, one of the top 2010 prospects in the country, also showed a 79-80 MPH slider. Cole will be pitching on Friday as well at the PG National Showcase, here at the Metrodome.

The Diamond Devils started off Day 2 of the PG National Invitational with a 1-hit shutout of the Illinois Sparks. Ryan Gunther (2009 RHP Stratford HS-Goose Creek, SC) threw 6 innings at 84-86, topping out at 87mph. Ryan Connelly (2009 RHP Bishop England HS-Charleston, SC) came in to close the game. He was throwing 80-83 mph.

Game #3 of the day started with a 90+ MPH pitchers duel. The Midwest Blazers started Bryce Lahrman (2009 RHP Wauconda HS, Lake Zurich, IL) who sat 90-92, striking out 7 of the first 8 batters faced. Lahrman is signed to attend Dayton in the fall.
The Diamond Devils started Drew Cisco (2010 RHP Wando HS, Mt. Pleasant, SC) who sat 91-92. Cisco also showed a +CB at 75 mph. Cisco will be back over the weekend, pitching at the PG National Showcase on Friday.

In the game between the Illinois Sparks and the Midwest Blazers, Kyle McHugh showed some good power. He laced a double down the leftfield line and a triple to right-center field. McHugh, a 2010 firstbasemen from Rosholt HS in Custer, WI.

The PG National Invitational started off today with a noon match-up between the Illinois Sparks and the hometown Minnesota Starz. The Sparks won the game by a score of 4-3.

Alex Stewart, a 2010 from Lincoln-Way East HS in Frankfort, IL  threw 4 scoreless innings for the Sparks. He was 84-85, topping out at 87.

Tyler Smith (2010 Champlin HS-Brooklyn Park, MN) started for the Starz. He was 81-82, topping out at 84.

Leading the way for the Sparks was Tom Helwich (2010 Lincoln-Way Central HS - New Lenox, IL) went 3-3 and Matt Morse (2010 Aurora Christian HS - Sandwich, IL) went 2-3.
