2014 OF/MIF CheynneGiles (Westview HS, San Diego, CA) has athletic swing actions with good bat speed and extension out front. He drilled a number of hard line drives in his round of BP, and should begin to drive the ball even harder as his limber athletic frame begins to fill out.

9- Orange vs 10- Purple Game Highlights >>

6/9/2013 12:16:56 AM

2014 RHP Tylor Megill (Marina HS, Huntington Beach, CA ) was dominant in four innings of work as the Purple starter. Megill struck out 10 of the 13 hitters he faced, allowing just one hit (a single). He sat 86-89 with his fastball and uses his lanky 6-foot-5 frame well with good extension out front to create downhill leverage and impart good life down in the zone. He backed his fastball with a hard spinning 72-73 mph curveball that features the type of bite that is often found only on breaking balls with higher velocities. He also worked in a couple 80-81 mph changeups.

The Orange team also had a quality starting pitcher, as 2014 RHP Drew Finley (Cathedral Catholic HS, San Diego, CA) sat 82-86 with good command of his fastball and a 12-6 curveball with good shape. Finley struck out the side in the first inning.

The one hit off of Finley was a well struck line drive to left center on an 88 mph fastball by 2014 IF Stephen Dubb (Loyola HS, Pasadena, CA).

2015 SS/RHP Nolan Kingham (Sierra Vista HS, Las Vegas, NV) was impressing on the mound, hammering a pair of doubles in his first two at-bats and looked like a future college infielder. That was until he took the mound and made a big impression. Kingham sat 83-87 and touched 88 mph with his fastball. But his loose arm action and good arm speed protend for increased velocity as he matures physically and fills out his lanky frame. He has a good downhill plane when online, and while he has some work to do with repeating his delivery more consistently and developing his secondary pitches, there is a lot of upside on the mound for the 6-foot-4 165 pound Nevada product.

2014 OF/RHP Nate Glasser (Parker HS, San Diego, CA) had a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and showed the ability to backspin sinking fastballs for hard line drives.

2016 OF/RHP Gregory Brown (Olympian HS, Chula Vista, CA) showed interesting tools to project long term potential and had an RBI single and a stolen base.

2014 RHP Garrett Rupp (Brophy Prep, Phoenix, AZ) was up to 84 mph with his fastball and backed it with a solid 75 mph slider. He has a long arm action with some arm speed with a chance to develop.
