Red 1B/RHP Jextin Pugh (Duncansville, PA) definitely catches the eye with a rock hard football-type 6-3/225 build. He's a left handed hitter with obvious power potential and a commitment to Binghamton. Based on the last 2 days, though, he looks like a very good 2-way prospect at least and potentially a better pitching prospect with some draft potential on the mound. Pugh was a steady 88-90 mph for 2 innings from a sound delivery with pinpoint control of his fastball. He threw a hard 74-77 curveball with tight spin and sharp bite and had some life on his 80 mph change up.
The Red team didn't collect a hit for the first 7 innings, then broke out for 5 hits over the final 2 innings. C Willies Estrada (Kissimmee, FL) broke the floodgates open with a big double to the warning track in LCF and also did a good job behind the plate. He's a Florida International signee.
RHP Andrew Zellner (Famersville, OH), a U. Cincinnati signee, threw 3 shutout innings for White, topping out at 88 mph on his fastball with a mid 70's curveball. He has a very projectable 6-3/170 frame and pounded the strike zone aggressively.
An interesting sub-story of the event has been White RHP-IF Bruno Aurnhammer, a 6-4/175 native of Munich, Germany. Aurnhammer must of left quite an impression with his teammates, as they lined up after the game to slap him on the back and tell him "Great to meet you, Germany", "See you someday at your place, Germany", with "Germany" being his affectionately adopted nickname. Aurnhammer looks like a 2014/2015 player with his long, angular build and young face but is actually 18 years old. He's a top student who is very fluent in English and is looking to go to college in the United States and play some baseball. He was 80-83 mph on the mound for 3 innings with a 69-71 mph downer curveball and played numerous positions in the field with athleticism and collected a couple of hits at the plate. College coaches, he might be a very interesting addition to a academically oriented D2 or D3 program because he's going to keep getting better.
A number of White hitters had a strong game at the plate. 1B Joseph Lansford (Lufkin, TX) went 3-3 with a pair of doubles and really squared the ball up well. 3B Jesse Moore (Olalla, WA) just missed a home run in the 6th inning, driving a ball off the top of the left centerfield fence for a double. 3B Jordan Henderson-Lewis (Houston, TX), an imposing 6-4/215 athlete with a full head of dreadlocks and an infectious smile to go with big bat speed, hit a ball off the end of the bat that carried about 375 feet to RCF for a double to give a hint of his power potential.

5 Dark Green pitchers, all natives of Puerto Rico, combined on a 10 inning no-hitter Sunday morning in a 3-0 win over Navy.
Primary RHP's Joe Alsina (2014) and RHP Elliot Correa each threw 3 no-hit innings to start the game. Alsina topped out at 83 mph and had complete command of the arm side of the plate with his life sinking fastball, inducing lots of tentative swings, especially from left handed hitters. The 5-8 Correa pounded the strike zone with mid 80's fastballs and finished a number of hitters off with a 75-77 mph slider.
They were followed by 3 strong armed 2-way prospects. 3B/RHP Roy Morales, who scouts seem to consider a better pitching prospect despite his plus power potential and agile fielding skills, was 87-89 mph for 2 innings with a very nice change up and sharp curveball. Fellow 3B/RHP Eduardo Javier struck out 2 out of 3 hitters in the 9th inning while topping out at 89 mph and 6-5/230 1B/RHP Jorge Gil Also topped out at 89 in a clean 10th inning.
Navy C Karl Ellison, a Vanderbilt signee, did his best to break up the no-hitter but his 3rd inning liner to centerfield and his 6th inning line drive to left field were both hit straight at outfielders or they would have been good for extra bases. Ellison was also very impressive for his defensive skills, especially in his energy and skills in blocking balls.
Morales and Javier both also had base hits and scored runs for the Dark Green team. C Carlos Diaz had maybe the best at bat of the game, leading off the 9 am contest in settling fog and driving the first pitch of the game up the LCF gap for a double that woke everyone up.

Florida State commit Taylor Blatch (2013 - Stuart, FL) pitched at 88-91 MPH touching 92 MPH. He works downhill and gets some run on his fastball. He also throws a good sinking and running change up at 79-82 MPH for strikes. Interesting arm in the 2013 class! Ronnie Healy (2013 - Jupiter, FL) pitched at 89-92 MPH with a long quick arm action. He gets some run on his fastball and works downhill well. Healy also showed good hitting tools at the plate and showed catching skills behind the plate. Interesting two-way guy. LSU commit Nick Longhi (2013 - Venice, FL) pitched at 86-88 MPH with a loose arm action. He also threw a 1/7 curve ball at 75 MPH and a change up at 77 MPH. Longhi had a couple hits and showed good hitting tools at the plate. Solid two-way player.
Nicholls State commit Cole Stapler (2013 - Geismar, LA) hit a deep home run to left field. He's got big time pop with more power potential in there. Luis Roman De Jongh (2013 - Tomball, TX) showed good hitting tools as well. He turned around a 91 MPH fastball and hit it to deep center field for a triple. Jordon Austin (2013 - Ocala, FL) hit a home run to center field and showed good strength in his swing. Interesting athletic player.
1/6/2013 3:11:54 PM
Florida State commit Nick Gordon (2014 - Windermere, FL) looked like a 1st rounder in his 1 inning of work on the mound. He pitched at 91-94 MPH with his fastball and threw a sharp curve ball at 76-79 MPH. The ball jumps out of his hand coming from a loose easy arm action. He keeps getting better every outing!
UCF commit Roberto Gonzalez (2014 - Orlando, FL) was up to 90 MPH with his fastball and was steady at 84-88 MPH in his first inning of work. His arm works easy and has projectable velocity. UCF commit Juan Hillman (2015 - Haines City, FL) pitched at 83-86 MPH with his fastball from a long loose arm action. He also throws a 1/7 curveball with good downer action to it. Christian Flecha Astacio (2013 - Humacao, PR) pitched at 86-88 MPH with a loose low effort arm action. Luis Martinez (2014 - Santa Isabel, PR) pitched at 85-87 MPH from a shorter arm action and good run on his fastball.
Florida commit Jeremy Vasquez (2013 - Palm City, FL) was impressive at the plate with a couple hits. He showed a good swing path with good bat speed and juice. Interesting set of hitting tools! Milton Ramos (2014 - Hialeah Gardens, FL) had a good all around game showing projectable tools in all facets of the game. He made hard contact at the plate and showed good hitting tools, stole a few bases, showed instincts and actions defensively, and showed arm strength across the diamond. He's an interesting follow for 2014. Florida State commit Tyrone Perry (2015 - Avon Park, FL) showed high level hitting tools at the plate. He has bat speed and juice that project well.

Manuel Sanchez (FA, San Juan, DOM) Went 1-3 on the day blasting a triple. Manuel is a big kid that is aggressive at the plate and flashes power potential.
Rafael Devers (FA, Samana, DOM) ended his day going 2-3 with a double. Rafael has a good approach and showed good in game bat speed.
Josue Marcano (2013, Loiza, PR) Went 1-2 today with a double. Marcano has good plate coverage and showed strength in his swing.
JanCarlos Cintron (2013, Delray Beach, FL) went 2-2 on the day with 2 stolen bases. Cintron showed quick twitch, has good bat speed, and was disruptive on the bases.
Heratio Costa (FA) Had his FB up to 92mph today with his slider at 81mph and change at 78mph. Costa arm shows minimal effort as the ball comes out easy. Heratio also maintained his arm speed on his change.
Jesse Lepore (2014, Beverly Hills, FL) Had his fastball up to 90mph today and was sitting it at 87-89mph with his curve at 71mph. Jesse has a short quick arm that the ball explodes out of.
Angel Luis Perez Rodriguez (2013, Barceloneta, PR) Was 88-90mph on his fastball with it touching 91mph and his change-up at 70mph. Angel showed good arm side run on his fastball and has a very quick arm.

C Jon Denney (Yukon HS, Yukon, OK) was perhaps the most anticipated player to watch coming into the World Showcase and he didn't disappoint in batting practice, showing a very short swing for his size and strength and putting on a pro level batting practice display.
SS Nicholas Gordon (2014/Olympia HS, Windemere, FL): Gordon is listed at 6-1/165 but if he weighs that much only a small proportion is muscle at the moment. He squares the ball up with a fluid, easy swing and it's just a matter of time before he really starts driving the ball hard.
SS Connor Heady (North Oldham HS, Prospect, KY): Heady is also listed at 165 pounds and looks about 14 years old when you are standing next to him. The next time he shaves will be his first. But he is a highly ranked prospect with an impressive resume and lots of present tools. Same thing as Gordon....when he starts getting strong, the ball is going to really start carrying.
C Jake Rogers (Canyon HS, Canyon, TX): Rogers is signed with Tulane and looks like he's going to be a strong offensive catcher at the next level. He has very good bat speed and a power oriented swing.
SS Brodie Weiss (Regis Jesuit HS, Castle Rock, CO): Weiss won't have his father, who got a small promotion recently, coaching him this year but he should do just fine. He keeps getting stronger and adding bat speed and the ball is jumping off his bat hard. I would bet the "Over" on who hits more big league home runs, he or his dad (25 in 14 seasons).
OF Eric Williams (Sachse HS, Rowlett, TX): Williams is not shy about his desire to hit the ball hard. He takes a full gorilla cut at the ball and is able to square up consistently because he has a line drive swing plane and stays on the ball a long time. There is effort and length to the ball, but the results always seem to be there.
SS Malik Collymore (Port Credit SS, Mississauga, ON): The Canadian native might have had one of the 5-7 most impressive BP's at the World Showcase, especially if measured by the number of balls crushed in 10 swings. He has bat speed and power and very quick short hands to the ball.
OF Alvie James (Coral Springs Christian Academy, Coral Springs, FL): James got better with every swing during his round, eventually showing his big power when he started to lift the ball. He's a very strong 6-2/197 right handed hitter.
OF Hunter Simmons (St. Francis HS, Mountain View, CA): The 6-3/195 Simmons will not have any issues with his right handed bat speed at the next level. He will have to shorten his swing up but all the raw tools are there to be a very productive hitter.
1/8/2013 12:05:44 PM
OF Rafael Devers (Dominican Republic): Devers is a 16 year old left handed hitter who will be eligible to sign on July 2, 2013. Some call him one of the finest young hitters from the Dominican Republic in the last generation and it's easy to see where the excitement comes from, especially after watching him in game action. He has a big coil and load and creates extremely good raw bat speed for his age, with more to come.
OF Manuel Sanchez (Dominican Republic): Sanchez is a year older than Devers and eligible to sign immediately. We're sure he's had many offers. He's 6-3/195 with very good run/throw tools but his best tool is his power potential. The right handed hitter needs some lower half adjustments in his swing approach to unleash that power but he's a high ceiling hitter and athlete.
C Luis Ciuro (Montverde Academy, Santa Isabel, PR): Ciuro is a very quick twitch athlete, especially for a catcher, and does a very good job of keeping his swing path short and direct to the ball, which usually results in hard pull contact.
SS Edwin Diaz (Ladislao Martinez Otero HS, Vega Alta, PR): We've seen Diaz hit with much more power a couple of times over the past few months. He has a busy load, which can throw his timing off at times, but he has easy bat speed and big middle of the field lift.
OF/1B Juan Soriano (Pro Baseball Academy, Arroyo, PR): A couple of Puerto Rican based scouts expressed concern about the 6-3/225 Soriano's ability to make enough contact to use his tremendous power and bat speed and they have a valid concern. Soriano only squared up a couple of balls in batting practice as he was leaping into contact and had trouble staying back but those couple of balls may have been the hardest balls hit all Batting Practice.
1/8/2013 9:43:17 AM
C Carlos Diaz (Grandview Prep, Bayamon, PR): Diaz is a favorite of the PG scouts for his hustling, high enthusiasm personality and style of play, not to mention his tools. He has lots more juice in his bat than you'd expect from his lithe 5-10/185 build and can drive the ball hard up the LCF gap. He's signed with Miami but is the type of player that some scouts are going to fall in love with.
3B Roy Morales (Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, San Juan, PR): Scouts seem to be in a 50/50 debate on whether Morales has a higher ceiling as a position prospect or a pitcher. As long has he keeps hitting for the power he shows now, he'll likely get his first pro opportunity as a right handed hitter/third baseman.
OF Joseph Monge (Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, Carolina, PR): Monge was a primary pitcher at the Caribbean Showcase but was a primary outfielder at this event, which looks to be his best future. He has a slashing line drive swing that produces consistent line drive contact to all fields.
OF/SS Johneshwy Fargas (Puerto Rican Baseball Acadmey, Trujillo Alto, PR): Many of the most talented Puerto Rican hitters seemed to be over anxious during batting practice with the huge crowd of scouts in the stands and along the foul lines watching BP. Fargas was one who was especially getting out front too often. But he has very high ceiling potential in all areas of the game.
OF Cory Garrastazu (Barbara Goleman HS, Hialeah, FL): The 6-4/195 Garrastazu certainly looks the part as a left handed hitter and has quick hands to the ball and some loose extension out front. He's a very projectable young hitter who doesn't have a college commitment yet.
1/8/2013 8:54:31 AM
OF Jose Almonte (Dominican Republic): Almonte is a very strong young right handed hitter who will be eligible to sign next July. He's one step away from having top of the scale raw power; he has very little shift or movement into contact but still hits the ball very hard. Give him some rhythm into his swing with either his hands or lower half and he's going to be launching bombs.
1B Kameron Esthay (Sam Houston HS, Lake Charles, LA): The 6-1/195 Esthay is going to be a very productive college hitter for Baylor. He has easy pull power from the left side and squared up the ball consistently from a calm swing approach.
C Carl Ellison (Barron Collier HS, Naples, FL): Ellison is a Vanderbilt signee with a very good present strength and a short, simple swing approach. He doesn't have much lift in his current swing but has the strength to consistently drive the ball hard up the gaps and will produce plenty of doubles at the next level.
C Jack Kruger (Oaks Christian HS, Calabasas, CA): Kruger came all the way out to Fort Myers from Southern California. He has an unmistakeable Southern California hitting approach, with a big lower half glide to the ball. He has an aggressive swing with lots of present bat speed. Kruger doesn't have a college commitment but his hitting, fielding and athletic skills paint him as a solid D1 college talent.
C Rene Melendez (Caguas Military and Sport Academy, Humacao, PR): Melendez was the top defensive catcher at the recent Caribbean Showcase and he was more impressive in Fort Myers with the bat than he was in San Juan. He has the strength and bat speed to hit if he can continue to shorten up his swing and square up the ball.
SS Alexander Rivera Centeno (Puerto Rico Baseball Academy, Arecibo, PR): Rivera gets to his front side early and uses his lower half well to generate bat speed while staying short and quick to the ball. His run/throw tools, combined with his bat speed and hitting approach, make him an underrated prospect.
SS Alexis Pantojas (2014/Puerto Rican Baseball Academy, Vega Alta, PR): The left handed hitting Pantojas is being touted as one of the top 2014 prospects in Puerto Rico and has the swing mechanics and athleticism to make scouts take notice. He's going to have to add strength to his 6-0/148 build before he can create real bat speed, though.
1/8/2013 8:33:07 AM
3B Ian Hagenmiller (Palm Beach Central HS, West Palm Beach, FL): The 6-1/215 Hagenmiller is one of the most underrated hitting prospects in the country in this scout's opinion. He has pro level bat speed and strength with very loose extension out front. He had a bit too much lift in his swing in BP but cuts that down in the games. The ball comes off his barrel in a way that few players at this level can duplicate.
IF Hunter Hope (William Dwyer HS, Jupiter, FL): Hope has got stronger since the last time we saw him and it shows in his bat speed, which was already high prospect level before. He does a very good job of keeping his hands short to the ball while still having a power swing. He really bombed a couple of balls.
OF Jordan Austin (Forest HS, Ocala, FL): Austin roped hard line drives to all fields and had a very nice, simple swing with a good weight shift into contact. He has the potential to open up his swing a bit out front to generate more power. Austin doesn't have a college commitment but has the swing type that should translate quickly to success at the next level.
OF Dalton Duty (Palatka HS, Palatka, FL): Duty has gained about 10 pounds of very positive muscle since the summer and it shows in his raw bat speed. He still has some things he can improve with his load and shift into contact but he has the strength now to generate real bat speed.
OF Alan Archer (West Orange, HS, Winter Garden, FL): Archer and Duty are both Central Florida signees and give that school a very bright outfield future. The 6-2/215 Archer has big lift in his swing and is going to hit plenty of home runs.
OF/1B Nick Longhi (Venice HS, Venice, FL), C Kevin Abraham (Mater Academy, Miramar, FL) and SS Connor Justus (Cartersville HS, Cartersville, GA) were all on the 7-Orange team and took solid BP's. All are highly ranked national level prospects.
1/8/2013 8:11:01 AM
OF Jeremy Hadley (Sachse HS, Wylie, TX): Hadley is very strong throughout on his 6-0/200 build. He has a simple swing approach from a well balanced rock back load and gets his hands straight and direct to the ball with very good bat speed. Hadley squared up just about everything in BP and hit well in the games, too. He doesn't have a college commitment know but is a high level hitter.
OF Keyshawn D'Orso (Allderdice HS, Pittsburgh, PA): D'Orso is another young hitter with a pretty simple and direct hitting approach that serves him well. He isn't as strong as Hadley but is loose and projectable at 6-0/185. He has a commitment to Kent State.
OF Christian Khawam (Miami Southridge HS, FL): Khawam has very good present strength and a fundamentally sound swing. He's another uncommitted player with next level hitting tools.
C Willies Estrada (Poinciana HS, Kissimmee, FL): Estrada, a Florida International signee, has a power approach from a tall stance and lots of bat speed and lift in his swing. He'll be prone to some swing/miss against good pitching but he showed in both BP and games that he has plenty of power.
3B Angel Soto (Cypress Creek HS, Orlando, FL): Soto has a very nice 6-3/200 build and is very strong. He has a pull and lift approach from a still start that could use some better rhythm but his strength and raw bat speed is unmistakeable. Another good prospect without a present college commitment.
OF Miguel Castellanos (Elev8 Academy, Delray Beach, FL): Castellanos catches the eye with his 6-3/190 build and he really stood out in the outfield with his plus arm strength. He has some work to do with his hitting mechanics, as he stays too far inside the ball right now and doesn't use his strength, but he flashed his bat speed when he got extended out front.
1/6/2013 8:24:09 PM
OF/1B Stephen Sensley (2013/LSU Lab School, Baton Rouge, LA) looks like top prospect Dominic Smith physically and has some of the same tools/skills as well. He has a a long, loose left handed swing with a calm lower half and lots of bat speed. He wasn't on the prospect map before this event and we need to learn lots more about this impressive athlete.
C Cole Taylor (2013/Oaks Christian HS, Santa Clarita, CA) is very strong at 5-11/195 and has a nice simple swing with some prototypical SoCal drift into contact. He showed his power by knocking 2 balls out of the spacious Terry Park Stadium field.
OF Bailey Brown (2013, Pottstown (PA) HS): Brown has very good bat speed that is generated in large part with his very good use of his lower half. He takes his hands directly to the ball with good lift and separation out front.
C Adam Rosenfield (2013, Viera HS, Melbourne, FL): The 6-2/193 Rosenfield tends to open his front side early but has good strength throughout and creates bat speed, especially when he's pulling the ball.
3B Jesse Moore (2013, South Kitsap HS, Olalla, WA) came from as far away as anyone attending the World Showcase and showed well with the bat. He has strength and projection in his 6-2/180 build and lots of present bat speed. Moore hit very well in the games as well.
1/6/2013 7:09:28 PM
Two 2014 pitchers made sure the large crowd of scouts on the Terry Park Stadium Field know that the top prospects at the World Showcase weren't all 2013 and International players.
RHP Kyle Kemp (Port Charlotte, FL) and RHP Jordan Baker (Sebring, FL) are just juniors but are potential top round draft picks for 2014. The 6-3/200 Kemp pitched in the 88-90 mph range for 3 shutout innings while allowing only 1 hit and striking out 5. He is a Florida verbal commit. The 6-3/185 Baker has a very loose and whippy arm that generated a 87-91 mph fastball and mid 70's curveball and projects to add velocity.
In fact, Baker was the only pitcher able to control the Black bats, as Black knocked out 7 extra base hits en route to scoring nine runs in the first 7 innings. OF Eric Williams (Rowlett, TX) crushed doubles up the LCF gap his first 2 trips to the plate and really swung the bat well. OF Jeremy Vasquez (Orlando, FL) lined out at 94 mph off the barrel his first time out before placing an equally hard hit ball up the RCF gap for a double his next appearence. C Jon Denney (Yukon, OK), SS Brody Weiss (Castle Rock, CO), 2014 SS Milton Ramos (Hialeah Gardens, FL), OF Luis Silverio (Parkland, FL) and C Jake Rogers (Canyon, TX) also had extra base hits.
2014 Top Prospect SS Nicolas Gordon (Windemere, FL) didn't add to the extra base hit parade for Black but made a couple of highlight reel plays on defense. He has uncanny instincts to the ball for his age and his helped by his top of the scale raw arm strength.
RHP Shane Wise (Miramar, FL) threw very well for Black, topping out at 90 mph with stuff that improved every inning.
OF Alvie James (Coral Springs, FL) and 3B Conner Stevenson (Keswick, ON) both showed their bat speed and strength very well at the plate for Columbia Blue.
RHP Joe Schindler (Eugene, OR) threw very well for Black, sat 85- 87 topping out at 88 with a good change-up at 74 mph with a good curveball at 68 mph.
1/6/2013 6:43:43 PM
This game was probably the highlight game of the showcase, as both teams were stacked with prospects. It didn't disappoint.
The dual of the starting pitchers was probably the highlight. It matched up 2013 RHP Dustin Hagy (Deland, FL) vs. Dominican LHP Jacob Constante, with a vast majority of the pro scouts packed into the Terry Park Stadium field watching.
Constante is an "old" Dominican in that he has been eligible to sign for 2 years but hasn't and is now US high school senior age with a 6-4/215 build. I was told by an international scouting director that he has been offered $1.5M to sign but is still on the market. He is also one of the more challenging pitchers I remember trying to evaluate in many years. There is no mistaking the arm strength and potential. He topped out at 94 mph this night and PG has heard he's touched 97 mph back in the Dominican. But he was pretty much unable to throw either his fastball or change up for strikes over 3 innings and eventually gave up trying for the most part. Constante instead threw a 88-90 mph cutter that was simply nasty at times and a 80-82 mph true curveball that was equally unhittable and he controlled both pitches with consistency that was entirely lacking in his "straight" pitches. It was a very impressive but very unique showing.
Hagy is a fast rising 6-6/205 right hander who threw in the mid-80's this summer but who was 89-92 Saturday night with a big, hard spinning 74-77 mph curveball. Two veteran scout friends with about 50 years experience between them asked me Sunday, first question without prelude: "What did you think of Hagy last night?" But the most important and impressive thing about Hagy is he competed his butt off against a number of very premium hitters. His face-off with 16 year old Dominican left handed hitting prodigy Rafael Devers was a classic, with Devers fouling off at least 8-10 pitches before flying out to centerfield. Hagy would sink an 89 off the outside corner to the left handed hitting Devers.....foul ball. Next pitch, 91 4-seamer on the hands.....foul ball. Back door curveball.....foul ball. No back down by either athlete and it was a testament to both character and talent.
Devers is another challenge to evaluate. He's a 6-0/185 15 year old who is a born/natural hitter. Bat speed, eye, coordination, a mental understanding of hitting, etc., it's all there. But he's not an exceptional athlete, at least at this age, and is challenged at both first and third base. But he can flat out hit a baseball.
Other Highlights:
Purple RHP Angel Alicea-Nieves (Santa Isabel, PR) topped out at 90 mph with good run and sink at times.
Purple 1B/OF Juan Soriano (Arroyo, PR) took some great swings in another classic AB vs. Hagy before striking out; if he'd squared up one of those swings the 6-3/225 right hander would have hit the ball onto neighboring Mack Field
Orange C Kevin Abraham (Miramar, FL), a Florida Atlantic signee, picked up a couple of hits and looked good behind the plate, including throwing a runner out from his knees on a 2.13 pop right on the bag.
3B Ian Hagenmiller (West Palm Beach, FL) absolutely undressed the shortstop with a 99 mph off the bat line drive off a Constante fastball.....it was the hardest hit ball on the Stadium field in four games. He also showed off a plus arm at third base on defense.
1/5/2013 11:03:34 PM
Jonathan Bermudez De Jesus (2013, Coamo, PR) had his fastball sitting at 82-85mph with his curveball at 69mph and his changeup at 67mph. Bermudez De Jesus throws from a 3/4 arm slot, his fastball has arm side run, curveball has 1-7 break on it with sharp bite which he has good command of.
Alexander Cortes Torres (2013, Guaynabo, PR) had a good showing at the plate today for the Maroon team. Torres had one of his hits register at 91mph off the bat showing good bat speed and a line drive swing plane.
Michael Arroyo (2014, Ponce, PR) also had a good showing at the plate with a couple of hits in the game for the Maroon team. Arroyo had one of his hits register at 93mph off the bat showing good bat speed, a line drive swing plane and making consistent hard contact at the plate.
Alexis Pantojas (2014, Vega Alta, PR) also had a couple of hits in the game. Pantojas shows a good swing at the plate while making consistent contact and showing bat speed.
Trey Lang (2013, Covington, GA) had his fastball sitting at 85-88mph with his slider at 79mph. Lang has a projectable frame throwing from a 3/4 arm slot, is aggressive with his fastball, has late break to his slider, good command of both pitches, and has good composure on the mound.
Ian Hays (2013, Lexington, KY) had his fastball sitting at 83-86mph with his slider at 79mph. Hays throws from a 3/4 arm slot, throws easy, has an easy repeatable delivery, arm side run on his fastball, good mound presence, and pitches with confidence.
Jose Almonte (Free Agent, DOM) had a good showing for the Navy team today. Almonte has a big strong build shows good bat speed with pop in his bat and had one of his hits register at 95mph off the bat.
Zac Johnson (2013, Marietta, GA) had four strikeouts while allowing 2 hits on 4 innings pitched in the game for the Maroon team this afternoon. Johnson throws from a 3/4 arm slot, has a short AA, is aggressgive with his fastball, has a online balanced delivery, mixes his pitches well, and his 11-5 bbreak on his curveball with depth to it.
1/5/2013 10:47:25 PM
Daniel Garmendia (2013, Miami, FL) had his fastball sitting at 85-87mph with it topping out at 88mph with his curveball at 73mph. Garmendia has big projectable frame throwing from a 3/4 arm slot, pitches with good tempo has arm side run on his fastball with an 11-5 break on his curveball with depth to it and the ball comes out clean.
Luis Roman De Jongh (2013, Tomball, TX) had his fastball sitting at 85-88mph with his curveball at 71mph and his changeup at 78mph. Roman De Jongh has an athletic build with a 3/4 arm slot arm side run on his fastball, with 11-5 break on his curveball with sharp bite to it.
