Ryan Hodges (2012, Fleming Island H.S., FL) carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, and went on to throw a complete game shutout as the North Florida Storm defeated the East Cobb Luck 1-0.

Hodges allowed only four hits and recorded 12 strikeouts without walking a single batter.  He showed good command, control on both sides of the plate and he was able to effectively pitch inside on hitters.  The 2012 grad had a late breaking curveball with good depth and his fastball was 82-85 MPH, getting up to 86 at times.

Justin Morgan (2012, Walton, Marietta GA), the opposing pitcher, also threw a complete game.  He allowed just a single unearned run, while striking out four and allowing only five hits.

The Storm's Casey Knight (2013, Eaglesview, Jacksonville, FL) was 1-2 with a stolen base and went on to score the games only run on a double hit by Brandon Pillsbury (2012, Oakleaf High School, Orange Park, FL).  Pillsbury showed a sound hitting approach and power to all fields.

The Alabama Seminoles 17U Quarterfinal match-up against the East Cobb Braves 17U saw two top 25 rated prospects squaring off against one another on the mound. It was Keegan Thompson (2013, Cullman HS, Cullman, AL) for the Seminoles against Kevin Davis (2013, T.R. Miller HS, Brewton, AL) of the Braves.  Both pitchers were impressive as each went seven innings giving up no runs and the game went into extra innings tied 0-0.  

In the 8th, both teams started with the bases loaded and one out.  That would be all the Seminoles needed as they put five runs on the board in the top of the 8th. Those five runs would be enough as the Alabama Seminoles 17U advanced to the Semifinal round tomorrow afternoon with a 5-2 victory.

Thompson, an Auburn commit, was stellar on mound as he gave up only three hits and no runs. The RHP knows how to pitch as he attacked hitters and struck out 14 batters. Keegan had online delivery with good hip rotation and sound mechanics. He was around the plate with all his pitches and had an overpowering fastball. The 19th ranked player had a fastball consistent between 89-92mph with a peak of 93mph. Pitching wasn't all Keegan did, as he also batted 2-3 with a double. He had an impact type bat with a confident approach and raw power. 

Davis, the 25h ranked player in his class, pitched the whole game allowing 9 hits and he struck out 8. Although he was credited with the loss, he showed good command, kept hitters off balance, and also peaked his fastball at 93mph. Davis threw low 90s with his fastball all game.

East Cobb Blue Jays beat the East Cobb Yankees 17U 1-0 in their quarterfinal game tonight. The Blue Jays advance to play the East Cobb Astros 16U, who stunned their 17/18U team earlier in their quarterfinal, in a semi-final game set for tomorrow.

2012 William Patrick (Dallas, GA, East Paulding HS) went 1-2 and scored the lone run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the 4th. 2013 Wesley Drain (Powder Springs, GA, Hillgrove HS) tallied the RBI.

2013 Bryan White (Woodstock, GA, Etowah HS) pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Blue Jays, allowing 4 hits and no runs, while recording 7 strikeouts. White is athletic with a large frame. He showed loose, solid arm action, good command, and he effectively threw pitches inside. His fastball peaked at 91mph.

For the Yankees, 2013 Eric Henderson (Marietta, GA, Marietta HS) hit a double. He showed live bat and gap power. 2013 Michael Dike (Hampton, GA, Luella HS) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run and recording 3 strikeouts. He showed good command and smooth delivery. His fastball ranged between 79-84 while peaking at 86mph.

TGBA 17U beat the ABA Elite 17U 7-1 to earn a spot in the semi-finals against the Alabama Seminoles tomorrow. They scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to secure their victory tonight.

2013 Austin Matson (Thomaston, GA, Upson Lee HS) went 1-3 with an RBI and a homer in the top of the 6th inning for TGBA. 2013 Taylor Glover (Evans, GA, Greenbrier HS) went 1-1 with an RBI and a double.

2013 Christian Hill (Evans, GA, Greenbrier HS) pitched 5 innings for TGBA, allowing 2 hits, no run and recording 2 strikeouts. Hill's fastball peaked at 82mph. 2013 Logan Elliott (Dunwoody, GA, Dunwoody HS) pitched 2 innings. Elliott's fastball peaked at 85mph.

For the Elite, 2014 Matt Morgan (Dothan, AL, Dothan HS) went 1-3 with an RBI and a double and 2013 Brody Williamson (Vestavia, AL, Vestavia HS) went 2-3 with a double.

2013 Grayson Jones (Blountsville, AL, Hewitt-Trussville HS) pitched 2 innings for the Elite recording 3 strikeouts. Jones' fastball peaked at 87mph. He threw easy and showed a good arm.

The East Cobb Astros 16U keep on winning as they play up in an older age division. This time around, the Astros 16U team beat one of their own squads -the East Cobb Astros 17/18U. The Astros 16U got 2 runs early and held on late for the 3-1 win.  They will advance to the Semifinal Round tomorrow afternoon.

Hunter Tackett (2014, Anderson County HS, Heiskell, TN), a top 120 prospect playing for the Astros 16U, pitched six innings allowing 3 hits and no runs. Tackett was consistent on his fastball between 81-84mph with a peak of 85mph and got the win. Jones relieved Tackett for the last inning of play and peaked on his fastball at 88mph. 

Johnson batted a perfect 2-2 with a double and one run scored for the East Cobb Astros 16U. Johnson showed he was an aggressive hitter with good bat speed and power potential.

Christian Raasch (2012, Norcross HS, Norcross, GA), a Vanderbilt commit, pitched all six innings for the Astros 17/18U giving up two earned runs on three hits. Raasch had life on his fastball as it peaked at 87mph, but he was credited with the loss.

The West Cobb Cardinals were able to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but with the tying run on second base, the Excel Blue Wave was able to shut the door and hold on to win by the score of 4-3.  Will Davis (2012, Oxford, AL) got the games final three outs for the Blue Wave.  He also showed solid defensive tools in the outfield and was able to cover a lot of ground.

The Blue Wave was paced at the plate by Trent Simpson, who went 1-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored.  Auburn commit Dylan Smith (2012, Clay-Chalkville, Pinson, AL) went 1-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored.  Cole Billingsley (2012, Pell City, Cropwell, AL) went 2-4 with a run scored.  He is the 327th ranked player in the nation and is committed to South Alabama.

Dillon Felger (2013, Kennesaw Mountain, GA) went 1-3 with a double and two RBI for the Cardinals.  Matthew Vaccaro (2013, Hill Grove, Marietta, GA) went 1-1 with a double, a walk, a run scored and was hit by a pitch. Jake Watkins (2014, Hill Grove, Powder Springs, GA) was impressive out of the bullpen for the Cardinals, allowing no hits over two innings of work  His fastball got up to 81 MPH and he also showed a slider, change-up and a curveball.

The East Cobb Padres 17u and the Game Ready Cavaliers  both failed to score in Saturday's consolation game, reaching the time limit with a 0-0 tie.

Zach Wall (2013, Hayesville, NC) pitched a complete game for the Cavaliers, allowing only two hits in seven innings of work.  He struck out five batters and issued only two walks.  His fastball got up to 81 MPH with armside run, and he was able to keep hitters off balance.  The Cavaliers were paced at the plate by Marien Hensley (2013, Gilmer, Ellijay, GA), who went 1-3 with a stolen base.

The Padres used five different pitchers to combine for the shutout.  All four of their relief pitchers were stellar, keeping the Cavaliers hitless in the final four innings of play.  Cody Long (2013, West Forsyth, Cumming, GA) struck out two batters without allowing a baserunner in one inning out of the bullpen.  He used a good curveball and a change-up to go along with his fastball.  Chase Puckett (2013, Creekview, Alpharetta, GA) went 1-2 with a walk and a stolen base. He showed power potential with a live bat and a strong frame.

Hoover Baseball Club beat the CV Scrambledawgs 10-3 in a consolation this afternoon.

2013 Michael Powers (Hoover, AL, Hoover HS) went 3-5 with 2 RBI's and a double for Hoover. Powers showed a compact swing, good plate coverage and excellent bat speed. 2013 Hunter White (Hoover, AL, Hoover HS) went 2-2 with 2 RBI's and a double. 2013 Major Haley (Birmingham, AL, Hoover HS) went 2-2 with a double and 2013 Conner Short (Hoover, AL, Hoover HS) went 1-2 with 2 RBI's. Haley showed good bat speed and a fluid stroke and Short showed a sound hitting approach.

For the Scrambledawgs, 2012 Hank Baker (Phenix City, AL, Central HS), went 2-2 with 2 RBI's and a double and 2012 Bubba Forrest (Smiths, AL, Smiths Station HS) went 1-1 with a double.

The East Cobb Rangers 17U got 4 runs in the 1st inning, one in the 3rd, and six more runs in the 7th as they cruise to the 11-1 win over the Tennessee Twisters in a consolation game Saturday.

Tyler Haswell (2013, Peachtree Ridge HS, Lawrenceville, GA) had a strong game for the Rangers.  Haswell batted 3-4 with two runs scored and was impressive on the mound throwing 86-88mph on his fastball with a peak of 89mph. Haswell had a smooth, online delivery and was around the plate with all pitches.Andrew Gist (2013, Forsyth Central HS, Cumming, GA) pitched the final 2 innings striking out 3 with a strike percentage of 72%. Gist had a peak of 84mph on his fastball. He also had an RBI-single to LF in the 7th inning.

Nicholas Williams (2013, Pepperell HS, Rome, GA) & Campbell Toye (2013, North Atlanta Warriors HS, Atlanta, GA) each batted .500 at the plate for the Rangers with Williams finishing 1-2 with 1 RBI and Toye going 2-4 with 1 RBI.

Marucci Elite 17U tied the Tennessee Fury 17U 5-5 in a consolation this afternoon.

2013 Kennon Menard (Lafayette, LA, Teurlings Catholic HS), who is ranked in the top 350 nationally, went 1-1 with an RBI and a double for Marucci. Menard showed power potential and live bat. 2013 Jacob DeVries (Castroville, TX, Medina Valley HS), who is ranked in the top 400, went 1-2. He showed good plate coverage, a good eye, and a quiet hitting approach. 2013 Robert Podorsky (Prairieville, LA, Dutchtown HS) went 1-3 with a triple. Podorsky showed good bat speed and linedrive swing plate.

2013 Ian Hays (Lexington, KY, Henry Clay HS) pitched 4 innings for Marucci, allowing just 1 hit and no runs with 4 strikeouts. His fastball peaked at 82mph.

For the Fury, McKinney went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and a double. He showed a fluid stroke, good plate coverage and good bat speed. He's a patient hitter with a sound hitting approach. Dawson pitched 5 2/3 innings. Dawson showed loose arm action, good follow through, and solid arm action.

The Bama Bombers Florence scored all 10 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and secured the shut-out victory after five innings of play. 

Will Bishop took the mound for the Bombers and pitched all five innings. Bishop allowed 3 hits and struck out 6. He showed a good fastball and had good extension out front. 

Justin Cantrell & Briar Daniel led the way for the Bombers.  Cantrell had a live bat with good bat speed as he finished 2-4 with 1 RBI and one run scored. Daniel had a strong, XL frame with excellent bat speed and power potential. He finished a perfect 3-3 in the game with a double, 2 RBIs, and two runs scored.

Top Notch beat SEB 17U in a consolation game this morning. The game was tied 1-1 going into the top of the 7th inning, when 2012 Camden Beasley (Royston, GA, Franklin County HS) was able to capitalize on a wild pitch and put his team up 2-1. Shortly after, 2013 Justin Cliburn (West Union, SC, Walhalla HS) hit a sacrifice fly to lead his teammate 2013 Lukas Thomas (Spartanburg, SC, Boiling Springs HS) to home plate and eventually won the game 3-1.

2013 Beau Strickland (Sunset, SC, Pickens HS) went 2-3 with an RBI and a triple for Top Notch. Strickland showed loose, strong wrists with flicks and power to all fields. 2013 Matthew Williams (Belton, SC, Belton-Honea Path HS) went 2-3. Williams showed good extension and lift in his swing, with a quiet hitting approach.

Pitching for Top Notch, 2012 Evan Small (Westminister, SC, West Oak HS), pitched 3 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs recording 5 strikeouts. Small showed short and solid arm action while peaking his fastball at 81mph. 2012 Chris Ayers (Carnesville, GA, Hart County HS) pitched 1 inning and peaked his fastball at 88.

For SEB, 2013 Ryan Patterson (Snellville, GA, South Gwinnett HS) went 1-3 with a double.

Aubrun commit Blake Logan (2013, Muscle Shoals, AL), the 15th ranked catcher in the nation, went 1-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to help the Alabama Seminoles 17u beat the East Cobb Indians 17u by the final score of 5-0.

Rod Boykin (2013, Edgewood Academy, Montgomery, AL) went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.  He also had good range in the outfield and took good routes to the ball.  Auburn commit Keegan Thompson (2013, Cullman, AL) went 1-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored, while Dylan Tomlin (2013, Smiths Station, Phenix City, AL) went 1-2 with a walk and an RBI.  Tomlin is a high energy player with a live bat.

The Seminoles received a quality start from Kyle Drury (2013, Smiths Station, Phenix City, AL), who went 6.1 innings allowing only two hits and no runs.  He struck out five batters and issued only one base on balls.  Hunter Swilling (2013, Columbus, GA), the nation's 117th rated prospect, preserved the shutout by getting the final two outs of the game.  His fastball was 86-89 MPH, while he also showed solid defensive tools in the infield.

The Indians' LHP Brandon Baker (2013, Redan, Lawrenceville, GA) showed good velocity off the mound with an 85-87 MPH fastball that got up to 89 at times and had good armside run.

The Seminoles will move on to face the East Cobb Braves 17u for a chance to move on to the Semi-Final round.

The East Cobb Indians 18U scored six runs in the 2nd inning and five more in the 4th inning as they cruised to the 12-5 victory in a consolation game Saturday afternoon.

Leo Benjamin (2011, Cantonment, FL) batted 1-2 with a 3-run HR for the Indians.  The 2011 graduate had a projectable frame with a fluid stroke and good bat speed.  Benjamin showed a live bat with power to all fields.

Robert Winston (2012, Sandy Creek HS, Tyrone, GA) & Marlon Melendez (2012, Allatoona HS, Acworth, GA) each had two hits for East Cobb. Winston finished 2-4 with 1 RBI and three runs scored. Melendez, the Calhoun CC commit, batted 2-3 with 1 RBI.

Brent Swindel finished 2-3 with 1 RBI in the loss for the Dodgers.

TGBA 17U beat the East Cobb Braves 18U 3-1 in today's playoff round. TGBA will move on to face ABA 17U Elite tonight in a quarterfinal. Earlier today, ABA upset loaded Marucci Elite in order to earn their spot in the quarterfinal.

2012 Jordan Dwyer (Woodstock, GA, Kell HS) proved to be the difference in the win for TGBA. He went 1-3 with an RBI and a home run in the top of the 2nd inning.

2013 Andrew Harrington (Elizabethtown, KY, Central Hardin HS) pitched a complete game for TGBA, allowing 4 hits, 1 run and totaling 5 strikeouts. Harrington's fastball ranged between 85-88 while peaking at 88mph.

For the Braves, 2012 Cole Watson (Canton, GA, Woodstock HS), who is ranked in the top 500 and a Georgia Southern commit, went 1-3 with an RBI. 2012 Mason Colquitt (Norcross, GA, Wesleyan HS), a Georgia College & State commit,  went 2-3.

2012 Robert Harris (Marietta, GA, Woodland HS), a College of Charleston commit, pitched 3 1/3 innings for the Braves, recording 5 strikeouts. Harris peaked his fastball at 88mph.

The East Cobb Yankees 17U beat Team Gwinnett 18U 8-3 in Round 1 of the playoffs.  The Yankees were able to take advantage of four errors committed Team Gwinnett 18U.  Eric Henderson (2013, Marietta HS, GA) & Brant Wells (2013, Atlanta, GA) each singled and brought in a run for the Yankees in the win. 

John Lamay (2012, Greater Atlanta Christian, Duluth, GA) & Kyler Berrett (2012, Buford HS, Buford, GA) each did all they could for Team Gwinnett 18U as both went 2-3 in the game. Berrett had 1 RBI and Lamay had two runs scored, but the effort wasn't quite enough as Team Gwinnett 18U couldn't get the win.

David Gonzalez (2012, Gainesville HS, Gainesville, GA), a top 200 prospect and Georgia commit, through 94mph for Team Gwinnett 18U, but was credited with the loss.

East Cobb Braves 17U beat the ABA 18U 8-1 in the first round of playoffs today. They move on and will face the winner of the Alabama Seminoles/ EC Indians 17U playoff game. 

2013 Travis Demeritte (Statham, GA, Winder Barrow HS), the 8th ranked player in the nation, went 1-2 with 2 RBI's and a double for the Braves.

2013 Danny Blanco (Jacksonville, FL, Arlington Country Day HS) went 2-3 with 2 RBI's and 2013 Cletis Avery (Snellville, GA, Shiloh HS) went 1-3 with an RBI and a double for the Braves. Also, 2013 Brain Neverrato (Jacksonville, FL, Arlington Country Day HS) went 1-3 with an RBI and 2013 Skye Overton (Johns Creek, GA, Johns Creek HS) went 2-3.

Pitching for the Braves was 2013 Nick Bertram (Centerville, OH, Centerville HS), who pitched a complete game. Bertram's fastball peaked at 85mph.

For ABA, 2012 Paul Angel (Birmingham, AL, Spain Park HS), ranked in top 500 and committed to Meridian CC, went 1-3 with a double. 2011 Nick Masonia (Kileen, AL, Nortwest Florida State College) went 2-3 with an RBI and also pitched 3 2/3 innings. His fastball peaked at 84mph. 2012 Austin Sanders (Madison, AL, Bob Jones HS) went 2-2.

The ABA 17U Elite scored in the bottom of the third inning on a fielder's choice and it proved to be the only run needed as they edge the loaded Marucci Elite squad 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

Tripp Hobbs (2013, Chelsea HS, Pelham, AL) threw a complete game surrendering only three hits in 96 pitches for ABA.  Hobbs walked two and struck out 4 in the game. Webb Bobo (2013, Pratville HS, Pratville, AL) batted in the lone run for ABA 17U Elite.

Bobby Bradley (2014, Harrison Central HS, Gulfport, MS) tripled in the top of the 2nd inning with no outs for Marucci, but was left stranded. 

Andy Honiotes (2013, Geneva Community, Geneva, IL) reached 89mph on his fastball in the loss for Marucci. Honiotes allowed 4 hits and struck out 6.  His replacement, Alden Cartwright (2013, Runnels HS, Baton Rouge, LA), the Louisiana State commit, peaked at 88mph, respectively. 

ABA 17U Elite will move on to the Quarterfinal Round later tonight. 


Astros 16U Stun SC Shockwave 17U >>

East Cobb Astros 16U were victorious 11-0 over the SC Shockwave 17U. They will move on to play the 17/18U Astros tonight in the quarterfinal. To say things will get interesting is an understatement.

Astros' Johnson went 1-3 with an RBI and a homer that came in the bottom of the 1st inning during a 4 run-stretch. The Astros then scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, and 2 in the bottom of the 4th to put the game away. Johnson showed leverage in his swing, good bat speed, power potential and aggressive hitting.

Bailey went 1-2 with 2 RBI's and McClure went 3-3 with an RBI and a double. Cassaway went 2-2 with a double as well. Cassaway showed a quiet hitting approach and power potential. The Astros weren't done yet though, Jones went 1-1 with a double and Lowe went 1-3 with 2 RBI's.

Seatt pitched 4 2/3 innings for the Astros, allowing 3 hits, no runs and recording 8 strikeouts. His strikeout percentage was 70.3%. Seatt threw easy and peaked his fastball at 83mph.

En Fuego Baseball's offensive lived up to its name today, catching fire and pounding out 14 hits to defeat the East Cobb Giants by the score of 7-3.  En Fuego was led by West Florida commit Miguel Paulino (2012, Choctawatchee, Fort Walton Beach, FL), who went 3-3 with a triple and a run scored.

The East Cobb Astros 17/18U beat the Home Plate Chili Dogs 17U 6-0 in the first round of playoffs today. Thanks to 2012 Joseph Wiseman's (Roswell, GA) pitching performance, the Astros will move on to play the East Cobb Astros 16U later tonight in a quarterfinal game. Wiseman pitched a no-hitter with 5 strikeouts. Wiseman made the game look easy sitting in his large, projectable frame. He showed good extension out front and a solid variety between fastballs, sliders and changeups. His fastball impressed many as it peaked at 86mph.

2011 Alec Diamond (Kennesaw, GA, Belmont) went 2-2 with 2 RBI's for the Astros. 2013 Carson Waln (Atlanta, GA, Galloway HS) went 2-3 with an RBI and a double and 2011 Jacob Moore (Acworth, GA, Woodland HS) went 1-3 with an RBI and a double.

The SC Shockwave 17U (American) had no answer for Nick Oberry (2013, Calloway HS, Hogansville, GA) of the East Cobb Blue Jays. Oberry started the game off by striking out the side and followed that up with five more innings of perfect pitching.  Oberry struck out 10 batters in six innings and completed the rare perfect game.  The 5'6" LHP showed a tight release and peaked on his fastball at 84mph. This remarkable feat helped stop the undefeated SC Shockwave 17U (American) and helped the Blue Jays advance to the next round.

William Patrick (2012, East Paulding HS, Dallas, GA), Wesley Drain (2013, Hillgrove HS, Powder Springs, GA) & Hunter Bowling (2012, Hiram HS, Powder Springs, GA) combined for five of the eight runs produced by the Blue Jays.  Patrick showed a live bat and finished the game 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Wesley Drain went 2-3 as well and finished with a double and 1 RBI.  Bowling also doubled in the game and finished 1-3 with 2 RBIs.

The East Cobb Blue Jays won 8-0 in six innings and will advance to the Quarterfinal round later tonight.

LHP Jake Meisner (2012, Creekview HS, GA) pitched 4 innings for Winward and flashed a good curveball with 11/5 late break. He also had the team's only RBI on a single in the 5th inning.

Teammates RHP Hunter Novak (2012, Blessed Trinity HS, GA) and LHP Troy Herterick (2012, Buford HS, GA) pitched in relief. Novak threw 77-82 mph with good follow through, striking out 4 in 2 IP. Herterick commanded an explosive fastball in the 82-84 mph range.

Mustangs' LHP Brody Ausfahl (2012, Mansfield HS, TX) started and pitched 3 no-hit innings. He showed command of a 76-80 mph fastball with good arm side run. He also mixed in a curve with an 11/5 break.

The Home Plate Chilli Dogs 17u used five different pitchers to limit the East Cobb Patriots to one run and gain a 3-1 victory.  While the Patriots jumped ahead early in the top of the third, the Chilli Dogs answered with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The Chilli Dogs were led at the plate by Chris Chaphe (2013, Starr's Mill, Peachtree City, GA), who blasted a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Chaphe has good bat speed and he is able to get good extension with a live and powerful swing.  Zach Bailey (2013, Salem, Conyers, GA) went 1-1 with a walk and an RBI, while Robert Massenburg (2013, Northgate, Newnan, GA) went 1-2 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Peter Talisse (2013, McIntosh, Fayetteville, GA) started the game for the Chilli Dogs and only allowed one hit in two innings of work.  His fastball was consistently 82-85 MPH, reaching 86. Alex Bollinger (2013, Home School, Sharpsburg, GA) struck out three batters in one inning of work, with a fastball that was 82-84 MPH.

Mike Krill (2013, Brandon Hall, Berkeley Lake, GA) was impressive on the mound for the Patriots, showing projectable stuff and good command.  His fastball, which has cut action, was 82-86 MPH throughout the night, getting up to 87 at times.  He struck out five batters and only allowed four hits in five innings.

Nick Boden (2013, Lovett, Atlanta, GA) went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored for the Patriots.  Alfred Francis (2013, Arabia Mountain, Lithonia, GA) was also 1-2 with a walk.

Jackson Smith (2013, Hartselle, AL) and Jordan Brown (2013, North Gwinnett, Suwannee, GA) combined to throw a 2-hit shut out for the East Cobb Braves 17u, as they went on to defeat the North Florida Storm 6-0.

Smith, who is ranked the 72nd best pitcher and 238th best overall prospect in the 2013 class, started the game and allowed only two hits in six innings of work.  He struck out four batters without issuing a walk.  He has solid arm action and mound presence, with a strong frame.  Smith throws a heavy fastball that was 85-88 MPH with good life and armside run.  He also showed a slider and a curveball.

Brown, ranked by Perfect Game as 2013's 83rd best pitcher and 277th best overall prospect, looked sharp in the game's final inning, striking out two batters and not allowing a baserunner.  He attacked hitters with a fastball in the 84-85 MPH range that also has good cutting action.

Keenan Innis (2013, Blessed Trinity, Cumming, GA), a Georgia Tech commit, went 2-4 with a triple and two runs scored for the Braves.  Innis showed that he deserved to be ranked the 27th best outfielder in the 2013 class with his gap to gap power and a good hitting approach.  Brian Neverrato (2013, Arlington Country Day, Jacksonville, FL) went 2-3 with a double and a run scored.  He also showed good arm strength from behind the plate and fluid defensive actions.  Danny Blanco (2013, Arlington Country Day, Jacksonville, FL) went 2-2 with a double, a sacrifice fly and four RBI.

Jared Datoc (2014, Pace Academy, Atlanta, GA) went 1-2 with a walk, two RBI, a run scored and was hit by a pitch as the East Cobb Royals went on to defeat the Windward Braves 17u by the final score of 12-0.  Datoc also played a solid second base, and he comes from a good bloodline (older brother Christian played D1).

The Royals were able to capitalize off of mistakes in the bottom of the third inning, scoring seven runs off just two hits.  Jake Palomaki (2014, Mt. Paran, Canton, GA) went 1-2 with a walk, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored.  Palomaki was disruptive on the bases with a quick first step and impact speed.  Blaine Beaird (2014, Westbrook Christian School, Hokes Bluff, AL) also went 1-2 with a walk, scoring two runs and adding an RBI.

Griffin Helms (2014, Norcross, Duluth, GA), who is ranked the 56th best prospect in his class by Perfect Game, drew a walk and had a stolen base for the Royals.  He showed a confident approach and good patience at the plate, with a swing that has the ability to go with the pitch. 

Logan Giovanotto went the distance for the Royals, allowing only three hits while striking out three batters.  Giovanotto did a good job of getting ahead of hitters, throwing 10 of 13 first pitch strikes.

Kyle Foster (2013, Blue Ridge High, Greer, SC) struck out 11 batters in five shutout innings, as the Upstate Mavericks 18u defeated the Mountain View Bears 4-0.  Foster allowed only three hits, showing a good curveball and an 80-84 MPH fastball.  His fastball had nice armside run and life, peaking up to 85 at times.

John Rogers (2013, White Knoll, Lexington, SC) threw the final two innings, allowing no hits and only one base on balls.  Rogers' fastball was 85-87, showing a quick arm and good command. 

Carl Wise (2012, White Knoll, Columbia, SC), a College of Charleston commit, went 1-2 with a home run, two RBI, a walk and two runs scored.  He has good bat speed and extension at the plate, and a good arm from the outfield.  Austin Gambrell (2011, Belton, SC), who was originally committed to South Carolina before transferring to Spartanburg Methodist, went 2-3 with an RBI.

The Bears' Joey Bell (2013, Mountain View, Lawrenceville, GA) threw all six innings, allowing only three earned runs and striking out six batters.  He showed good command of three pitches, a fastball (78-81), curveball (69-71) and change-up (71-73).

Hoover Baseball was led at the plate by Conner Short (2013, Hoover, AL), who went 2-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored.  Major Haley (2013, Hoover H.S., Birmingham, AL) went 1-2 with two RBI.  He stays inside the ball well, and has a strong lower half.  Josh Campbell (2013, Hoover, AL) went 1-2 with a walk and two RBI, showing good extension in his swing.

For the Dodgers, Matt Jones (2013, Dacula, GA) was 1-1 with a double, showing a fluid stroke and good plate coverage.  He has good bat speed and a confident approach. Jacob Bowers (2012, Lawerenceville, GA) was 1-2 with a walk and a stolen base.  He moved down the line very well, and has a short, compact swing.

Lee Miller (2012, Riverwood, Atlanta, GA), a Davidson commit, launched a two run home run to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the East Cobb Astros a 4-0 lead.  This would be enough insurance to hold off the Windward Braves 18u by the final score of 4-2.  Miller showed a quick bat and a fluid stroke, while also having a good eye at the plate.

Conner Rivers (2013, Homewood, Birmingham, AL) started on the mound for the Astros.  He threw four hitless innings, striking out six and only issuing one base on balls.  Rivers had good mound presence, competing on the mound and setting up hitters effectively.  His fastball was 81-85 MPH, reaching 86 at times, and he showed a good curveball.

Jacob Moore (2011, Woodland, Acworth, GA) went 2-3 for the Astros with a home run, a stolen base and two RBI.  The Braves were paced at the plate by John Kizzar (2012, West Forsyth, Alpharetta, GA), who went 2-3 with a run scored.

Brian Kehner (2013, Blessed Trinity Catholic, Marietta, GA) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only four hits and striking out six as the East Cobb Braves 18u defeated the Bama Bombers Florence by the final score of 3-0.  Kehner threw 53 of 73 pitches for strikes, competing and effectively changing speeds.  He showed a heavy sinking fastball that also had armside run, a good pick off move, and he was also able to maintain his velocity throughout the entire game.

Blake Edwards (2012, Pike County, Zebulon, GA), a Columbus State commit, went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.  He showed a sound hitting approach and excellent bat speed, driving the ball with regular contact.

Cameron Sperry (2012, Etowah, Acworth, GA) went 2-3 with an RBI, while  Georgia Southern commit Cole Watson (2012, Woodstock, Canton, GA) went 1-3 with a run scored.  Justin Friend (2013, Johns Creek, Duluth, GA) went 1-2 with two RBI, and also showed solid defensive tools from behind the plate.  He has an accurate arm and a quick release, and he is also able to receive very well.

The Bombers' Luke Laster also threw a complete game, allowing only one earned run in seven innings of work.  Laster struck out seven batters, and was 82-86 with his fastball, peaking at 87.  He was able to attack hitters and show good command of all of his pitches.

Bryce Conley (2013, Alpharetta, GA) threw seven shutout innings, allowing only four hits and one walk, as TGBA 17u defeated Sharp Electronics 5-0.  Conley was efficient, only needing 87 pitches to get through the entire game and throwing 62% of his pitches for strikes.  His fastball was 80-85 MPH, peaking at 86, and he also threw a curveball and a changeup.  Conley's curveball had good depth and break, while he used his big frame to pitch downhill.

Kyle Jackson (2013, Mount Pisgah Christian, Atlanta, GA) was solid in the leadoff spot for TGBA, going 2-3 and scoring a run.  Jackson also showed good speed and range in the outfield.  Dustin Beggs (2012, Centennial, Roswell, GA) went 1-2 with a two run home run, showing a sound hitting approach and great pop off the bat.

Adrian Morris (2013, Wheeler, Marietta, GA) was a perfect 1-1, stealing two stolen bases on his way to scoring a run.

The Blue Jays received quality pitching from three different players, who combined to allow only one earned run.  Caleb Woods (2012, Etowah H.S., Acworth, GA) finished out the game, striking out three batters and not allowing a hit in 1.2 innings of work.  Woods was 79-84 with his fastball from a low 3/4 arm angle.

Travis Wildermuth (2013, Etowah, Woodstock, GA) went 1-1 with a double and two RBI for the Blue Jays.  Wildermuth also drew two walks, had a stolen base and scored a run.  Kennesaw State commit Cornell Nixon (2013, Lassiter, Marietta, GA) was also 1-1 with two walks.  Nixon scored all three times that he got on base.

The West Cobb Cardinals were able to score four runs in both the top of the first and the sixth on their way to an 8-3 victory over the Upstate Mavericks 17u.  

Tyler Graham (2012, Hillgrove, Powder Springs, GA) worked a gem for the Cardinals, allowing only one run off five hits in six complete innings of work.  Graham struck out seven batters while consistently sitting 81-85 with his fastball.  He is an athletic and strong kid, who has mound presence and a smooth delivery.  Graham also showed a tight, late breaking slider.

The Cardinals were paced at the plate by Morgan Miller (2013, Harrison, Kennesaw, GA), who went 2-2 with a double and a run scored.  Miller hits to all fields with pop, and stays inside the ball well.  Matthew Vaccaro (2013, Hill Grove, Marietta, GA) went 2-4 with a run scored and Harrison Rogers (2013, Kennesaw Mountain, GA) had a double and two RBI for the Cardinals.

The Mavericks were led at the plate by Ramon Osuna (2013, Mauldin, Greenville, SC) and Matt Mayes (2013, Dorman, Spartanburg, SC), who were both 2-3 on the day.  Jordan Brabo (2013, Blue Ridge High, Taylors, SC) went 1-3 with a triple and two RBI.  

Austin Pierce (2013, Cuthbertson, Waxhaw, NC) had a great outing out of the bullpen for the Mavericks.  He struck out six batters in 4.2 innings of work, allowing only four hits and no earned runs.  Pierce worked fast, attacked hitters and changed speeds effectively.

Hunter Tackett (2014, Anderson County HS, TN) scored a run and had 1 RBI. Ethan Walker (2013, Jacksonville, FL) started the game from Astros pitching 6 IP with 6 K's.  The large framed RHP showed solid control with all of his pitches.  He showed a solid FB that topped out at 85 mph and paired that with a tight breaking 12/6 CB that was consistently 66-68 mph. Wesley Jones (2013, Redan HS, GA) came in for relief and showed off a heavy fastball at 88mph.

Alex Schnell LHP (2014, Milton HS, GA) pitched 6 innings for the Windward Macs and showed off a good fastball at 83mph and topped out at 85mph.

Blake Hennessey (2014, Arlington Country Day, Ponte Verda, FL), a 2012 Second Team Underclassman All-American and the 25th ranked player in his class, showed that he deserved these accolades today as he led Marrucci Elite to a 9-1 victory over the Cartersville Canes.

Hennessey went 2-2 with a double and a triple while driving in four runs.  Kirvin Moesquit (2014, Highland Christian, Deerfield Beach, FL), the 49th ranked player in his class, went 1-2 with a stolen base and a run scored.  He showed a quick bat and a good eye at the plate.

LHP Glenn Irby (2013, Mars Hill Bible School, Florence, AL) started on the mound for Marrucci Elite, going 4.1 innings and only allwoing two hits.  He struck out five baters and allowed only one earned run.  Evan Hebert (2013, Loreauville, LA) came on to get the final two outs of the game for Marrucci Elite.  He was 84-86 with his fastball, while also showing a curveball and a slider.

Garrett Rutledge (2014, Cartersville High, GA) went 1-2 for the canes, hitting a double and driving in the teams only run.  He showed good instincts on the bases and solid plate coverage while hitting.

Wofford commit Derek Hirsch (2012, Atlanta International HS, Atlanta, GA) showed off a line drive swing, with power to all fields, doubling twice and driving in a run for the East Cobb Patriots, while Raymond Monasterski (2012, the Westminster Schools, Roswell, GA) and Josh Thomas (2012, Cherokee HS, Canton, GA) added RBIs of their own.

Trailing 3-0 in the fifth, the Oklahoma Fuel rallied for four runs in the final three innings to beat the East Tennessee Flames in an exciting comeback win.  For the Fuel, Liam Sabino (2014, Blair Academy HS, East Straudsburg, PA) doubled, walked, and drove in two runs, while Jared Baker (2013, Edmond North HS, Edmond, OK) and Jon Littell (2014, Stillwater HS, Stillwater, OK) chipped in an RBI each. 

6' 3'' lefty Caleb Eldridge (2014, Deer Creek HS, Edmond, OK) got the start for the Fuel, striking out four in 4.1 IP, allowing two earned runs.  Eldridge has a lean, wiry frame, offering room for projection, and shows good feel for a curveball with 10/4 break.  Jordan Payne (2014, Mangum HS, Mangum, OK) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, adding four strikeouts, while showing good command of his fastball and changeup.  

For the Flames, Zack Messing (2013, Bearden HS, Knoxville, TN) recorded two hits, and Nicholas Reynolds (2013, Maryville HS, Maryville, TN) tripled, showing off his good speed.  Messing has good plate coverage, bat speed, and extension; Reynolds does a good job staying inside the ball, while showing good power potential.

Games in full force at the Pefect Game East Cobb Invitational as day three rolls on. In this 17U/18U matchup, Tennessee Fury beat Top Notch 6-2.

J. Hale did the dirty work for the Fury, going 3-3, with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and another two driven in. The athletic outfielder had good plate coverage, an aggressive approach and looked sharp on defense as well. Hale was helped out by Z. Anderson (1-3, RBI), D. Dawson (1-3, RBI), and J. Szolossi (1-3, RBI).

M. McKinney, was crafty on the mound and around the plate with all of his pitches. He threw a complete game (seven innings), struck out seven and allowed only four hits. 

For Top Notch, starting pitcher Colin Brady (2013, Pendelton, Seneca, SC) hit a top velocity of 86 MPH, sitting between 83-85. In a relief appearance, Brent Honeywell (2013, Franklin County, Carnesville, SC) also ran his velocity up to 86 MPH, throwing four innings and striking out eight batters.

After 3 batters were walked on in the bottom of the 5th, 482nd ranked Cole Stapler stepped up and hit a grand slam over the left field fence, giving Marucci a 4-3 lead over the Braves. Another batter was then walked on and then 243rd ranked Arkansas commit Corey Campbell (2013, Pottsville HS, AR) hit a home run to left field bringing in 2 more runs for Marucci solidifying their 4-run lead over the Braves.

Cooper Jones (2013, Catholic HS, FL) pitched 3 innings for Marucci showed off an 85mph fastball and good curve ball in the mid to upper 60's. Avery Geyer (2013, Pensacola Catholic HS, FL) also pitched 3 innings and he had 5 strike outs. Geyer showed some heat on his fastball averaging 88mph and his curve ball in the mid 70's.

Ryan Avidano LHP (2014, Starr's Mill HS, GA), though giving up a few walks in the 5th, he had 9 strike outs on the day. He showed life on his fastball that averaged 82mph, and threw around 30 curve balls in he lower 70's.

Andrew Smith (2012, Thompson, AL) went a perfect 4 for 4 in ABA 18U's 14-4 victory against Pro Source 18U Chumbley.  Smith had two doubles and three RBI's.  He is a line drive contact hitter with some pop.  Nick Masonia (2011, Brooks, AL) went 2 for 4 in the win with two RBI's.  Top prospect Kyle Overstreet (2012, Boaz, AL) pitched four innings and struck out five.  He has already committed to going to Alabama.  His fastball was between 82-85 mph and topped off at 86. He has very good command and is around the plate with all his pitches. Overstreet has a good curve ball and a deceptive change-up.  

Ethan Luna (2013, Liberty Christian, TX) led the Chumbley's offense by going a perfect 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI's.  He is a gap to gap hitter and has some pop. Blake Rogers (2012, Lewisville, TX) went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the loss.  Zach Wilson (2012, Guyer, TX) pitched in by going 2 for 4 and came around the score twice.  Jesse Stephens (2012, Flower Mound Marcus, TX) pitched 5 1/3 innings for Chumbley.  He struck out four and walked only two.  His fastball was between 80-82 and topped off at 83 mph.  Along with a fastball, he has a very good curve ball.

The East Cobb Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Dirtbags 13-0 in four innings on the strength of 4 RBI contributions from both Austin Kuchinski (2013, Harrison HS, Marietta, GA) and Brad Skuse (2013, Centennial HS, Roswell, GA).  Kuchinski, who doubled and singled, has a live bat and shows good plate coverage, while Skuse (listed at 6'5'', 215 lbs) tripled twice and singled, showing good bat speed, as well as the ability to stay inside the ball.

Jimmy Walker (2013, Woodstock HS, Woodstock, GA) doubled, singled, and pitched two scoreless innings, displaying a smooth delivery, and good follow through with his arm action.  Ryan Lavin (2013, Dunwoody HS, Atlanta, GA) added 1.1 scoreless innings, notching two strikeouts while showing a delivery in which in hides the ball very well.

As day three action continues here in Marietta, GA, the SC Shockwave take down East Cobb Dodgers with a score of 9-0.

This one sided affair for the SC Shockwave was attributed to solid run production and strong pitching. Hunter Hill (2013, Mid Carolina, Little Mountain,SC) threw all five innings, relenting only one hit and striking out 11 hitters. He showed good command with effortless arm action and knows how to pitch. His velocity ranged from 78-81, with maximal velocity running up to 82 MPH.

Hill was helped out by his offense which was led by Cory Thompson (2013, Mauldin, Mauldin SC), a South Carolina verbal commit, ignaited the Shockwave from the top, finishing the day 2-2 with a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Brandon Barber (2013, Eastside, Greenville,SC) also added a double with a run batted in for the Shockwave.

Both teams benefitted from solid starting pitching.  East Cobb's Harrison Wengryn, a righty, (2013, Peachtree Ridge HS, Duluth, GA) pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out three, while the Twisters' Chase Mills struck out seven in six solid innings of work. Mills pitched downhill from a high 3/4 delivery, touching 84 mph with his fastball, while mixing in 18 sliders at 72-77 mph.

The East Cobb Indians defeated DBAT Mustangs by a score of 9-5 here on day three of the PG-EC Invitational.

The E.C. Indians were led offensively by a number of players, stacking up 10 hits as a team. Leo Benjamin (2011, Tate, Cantonment, FL), a broad shouldered man-child standing at 6'2" 225 lbs, led the surge with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Robert Winston (2012, Sandy Creek, Tyrone,GA) was a menace for the Mustangs to handle, scoring three runs, driving in a run, on a day in which he went 2-3 with a double. Hunter Cochran (2011, Young Harris College, Atlanta,GA), a solid outfielder with speed and raw power at plate, tallied a couple of hits to go alongside two runs scored.

In addition, East Cobb LHP Parker Acuff (2012, Etowah, Woodstock,GA), an Andrew College signee, maintained a consistent velocity, hanging between 78-81 and hitting 82 MPH. In relief, Austin Meyer (2011, Florence-Darlington Technical College, Bethlehem, GA) came in and threw downhill with an array of pitches, touching 85 MPH.

For the Mustangs, Cris Armstrong (2012, Burleson HS, Burleson, TX) sat between 79-82 MPH, touching 84 MPH. He scored twice and got 1 RBI. Shedric Long (2013, Jacksonville HS, AL) also went 2 for 3 with a double and had 2 RBI's. Grayson Jones (2013, Hewitt-Trussville HS, AL) had a double to right field, scored once and racked up 2 RBI's. Brandon Bilek (2013, Spain Park HS, AL) and Brody Williamson (2013, Vestavia HS, AL) both had a double in the game and scored 1 run each. Kolby Brannon (2014, Boaz HS, AL) was also on at the plate going 3 for 3 scoring 1, and getting 2 RBI's.

Jake Walters (2014, Thompson HS, AL) pitched a strong 7 innings for ABA with 13 strike outs on the game. He showed good command, moving all his pitches around the plate with his fastball averaging 82mph, and his curve ball was in the lower 70's.  

The Braves came out strong in the top of the 7th with Chang #11 and Brad Schwartz (2013, Walton HS, GA) both hitting a line drive double to left field, but ABA came back and ended the game with a double play.

As day three gets started at the East Cobb Invitational, En Fuego Baseball defeats SEB 18U with a score of 7-0.

Toby Thomas(2012, Fairhope HS, 8 Mile,AL), who has signed to play at Pensacola State, was able to no-hit SEB 18U, recording 11 strikeouts, three ground outs, and six fly ball outs. He dialed the radar gun up to 88 MPH and was hovering between 84-87 MPH throughout the game. He was around the plate with all his pitches, had a smooth and balanced delivery with good run on his fastball. Thomas also had two hits, including a double, and a RBI at the plate.

Sam Kent (2012, Fairhope, Fairhope,AL) was on fire at the plate for En Fuego Baseball, going 3-4 with a home run, triple, and a RBI, falling a double shy of the cycle. Will Brown (2012, Briarwood, Vestavia Hills,AL) also swung a big stick with a double and two RBI. Garrett Waters (2012, Theodore, Theodore,AL) had a double and a RBI on a day in which he went 2-4.

RHP Reed Hayes (2013, Science Hill HS, Johnson City, TN) threw five innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts, and also chipped in on offense with two hits, a walk, and an RBI, as the East Cobb Yankees 17u combined for 10 hits to beat the Georgia Titans 11-1 in five innings.

Hayes throws downhill, with good arm speed and action coming from a high 3/4 angle, and has a balanced, smooth delivery, in which he puts his lower half to good use.  He has projectable stuff, working with a fastball and curveball; his fastball sitting 81-85, touching 86 mph, while his curveball has 12/6 break with out-pitch potential.  Hayes issued just two walks, throwing 66.7% of his pitches for strikes.  At the plate, he shows a fluid stroke and good bat speed with gap power. 

Harrison McClure (2013, North Atlanta HS, Atlanta, GA), drew a walk, doubled twice and drove in a run, showing a compact swing while using a narrow base, with an upright, closed stance, holding his hands out and away from his body.  McClure has a lean, projectable frame, with room to fill out.

Troy Herterick (2012, Buford, GA) went a perfect 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI's.  He also walked once and came around to score twice.  John Kizzar (2012, West Forsyth, GA) went 2 for 4.

Ethan Hinkle (2013, Dutch Fork, SC) went 3 for 4 in SC Shockwave 17U (American) 12-2 win over Excel Blue Wave.  Hinkle had three singles and three RBI's.  The Shockwave scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.  Derek Olenchuck (2014, Dutch Fork, SC) went 1 for 2 with two RBI's and a walk. Nick Pappas (2013, Dutch Fork, SC) went 1 for 2 with a RBI, a walk, and two stolen bases. John Wolfe (2013, Chapin, SC) pitched five innings and struck out one.  He allowed five hits and two runs. Even though his fastball only hit 76 mph, he changed speeds and kept the hitters off balance.

Tyler Adams pitched three innings for the Wave.  His fastball was between 82-85 and topped off at 86 mph.  Alex Jones (2013, Pell City, AL) went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Hayden Heflin (2013, Pinewood Prep, SC) was the man for the Shockwave in their 9-1 win over the East Cobb Giants. Heflin was 2-3 in the game with 2 doubles driving in 5 runs. Tucker Burgess (2013, Easley, SC) the Clemson Tiger recruit also played well going 2-3 with one run batted in.

Stephen McKnight (2012, Easley, SC) was the starter for the Shockwave pitching all 5 innings allowing only one earned run off of two hits. McKnight's had an online delivery and hid the ball well helping him be deceptive on the mound. McKnight kept his fastball down on hitters and ranged in velocity between 79-81 mph. He has showed a good curveball, which he used as his out pitch. His curveball had a 12-6 break and had good depth. This helped lead to 5 strikeouts in the game for McKnight.

Zach Lippincott (2013, Lassiter, GA) drove in the lone run for the East Cobb Giants. Lippincott was 1-2 with a RBI double in the bottom of the 4th inning. Lippincott also pitched 2 innings in relief shutting down the hot Shockwave offense. Lippincott allowed no hits and struck out 2 batters in his 2 innings of work.

The West Cobb Cardinals rallied in the final 3 innings to pull off the 7-4 comeback victory over the East Cobb Braves 16U. The Braves took the early lead scoring 1 in the bottom of the first inning.  The Braves added onto their early lead when Michael Chavis (2014, Sprayberry, GA) tripled to rightfield which put the Braves up 2-0.  The Braves then went up 4-0 in the bottom of fourth with a pair of RBI singles by Lew Stephens (2013, Hebron Christian, GA) and Rhett Harper (2014, Dalton, GA).  

The West Cobb Cardinals bats came alive in the top of the 5th inning when they scored 3 runs.  Morgan Miller (2013, Harrison, GA) started out the scoring for the Cardinals on his RBI double to leftfield.  Miller finished the day 2-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Matthew Vaccaro (2013, Hill Grove, GA) continued the scoring in the 5th with a 2 RBI single. Vaccaro also drove in the go ahead run in the top of the 7th inning with 2 outs on an RBI triple. The Cardinals then added 2 more runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 7-4 lead. The Cardinals were able to shut down the Braves in the bottom half of the 7th inning to get the win.

Bo Tucker (2014, Rome, GA) pitched 5 innings for the Braves giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits. Zach Johnson (2013, Hill Grove, GA) pitched 6.1 innings for the Cardinals giving up 4 earned runs on 9 hits while striking out 5 and walking 4.

The East Cobb Braves received an excellent pitching performance from Zach Flowers (2013, Salesianium, DE) as he went the distance in a 4-2 win over Hoover Baseball Club. Flowers was around the plate all game showing command of all his pitches. Flowers fastball topped out at 88 and was consistently between 78-85 mph. He was able mix in a curveball and change up to keep hitters off balance. Flowers threw 7 innings and gave up 2 earned runs while scattering 6 hits and striking out 5 with 1 walk.  Travis Demeritte (2013, Winder Barrow, GA) provided most the offense for the Braves. Demeritte was 1-1 with 3 RBI.  That lone hit was a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 6th inning. Demeritte also had a sac fly and a walk on the day. Georgia Tech recruit Josh Hart (2013, Parkview, GA) was 2-3 in the game with a run scored.       

Hoover Baseball Club also received a strong pitching performance from their starter, Brantly Ballenger (2014, Hoover HS, AL). Ballenger threw 5 innings giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2.  Ballenger showed good command of his fastball and curveball.  Offensively Hoover Baseball Club scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning but it wasn't enough to take down the Braves.  Josh Campbell (2013, Hoover, AL) was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Billy Reed (2014, Hoover, AL) knocked in both runs for Hoover Baseball Club and finished the day 1-3 with 2 RBI.

The Upstate Mavericks scored two runs in the bottom of both the fifth and sixth innings to come from behind and defeat the Tennessee Twisters 5-4.

Wofford commit Jacob Condra (2012, Woodruff, SC) started on the mound for the Mavericks.  He was consistently 84-88 with his fastball, while also showing a late breaking curveball.  Aaron Lesiak (2012, St. Josephs, Greenville, SC) earned the win by coming out of the bullpen and throwing the final 5.1 innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out six.  Lesiak sat at 81-86 with armside run on his fastball, bumping up to 87 a number of times.  He throws from a low 3/4 arm angle and hides the ball well.  

A two RBI single by Will Thompson (2012, Dorman, Spartanburg, SC) in the bottom of the fifth brought the game within one, before the Mavericks were able to capitalize on a few mistakes and take the lead in the next frame.  Ian Metts (2012, Dorman, Spartanburg, SC) was 2-3 with a double while scoring a run, and Georgia Southern commit Michael McClellan (2012, Union Grove H.S., McDonough, GA) had a double and an RBI.

The Twisters were paced at the plate by Justin Brown (2013, Polk County H.S., Old Fort, TN), who went 2-3 on the night.  Trey Dyer (2012, Sequoyah H.S., Madisonville, TN) blasted a home run to left field in the top of the third inning.  He is a gap to gap hitter, who gets good extension and is very aggressive at the plate.

Levi Koebel (2013, Ola, GA) pitched four innings and struck out four.  He walked one and allowed three earned runs.  His fastball was between 78-82 and topped off at 84 mph.

Pearce Howell (2013, Lovett, GA) went 2 for 3 for the Yankees.  Reed Hayes (2013, Science Hill, TN) also went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jordan Lester (2013, Hiram, GA) pitched three innings and struck out four.  He allowed one hit and one earned run.  His fastball reached 82 mph.  He was around the strike zone 66% of the time.

He also had a stolen base. Travis Wildermuth (2013, Etowah, GA) and Trent Wildermuth (2013, Etowah) had doubles and came to around to score once. Caleb Kutsche (2013, Lassiter, GA) pitched four innings and struck out two.  He walked one and gave up one run.  His fastball as between 82-84 mph and topped off at 85. Caleb Woods (2012, Etowah, GA) came in the top of the seventh and struck out the side.  His fastball reached 84 mph.

Nicholas Williams (2013, Pepperell, GA) pitched three innings and stuck out three in the East Cobb Rangers 17U 9-0 win over East Cobb Patriots '13.  He allowed two hits and gave up zero runs.  His fastball was between 82-86 and reached 87 mph.  He was around the plate 69% of the time.  He also did some damage at the plate as well. He went a perfect 2 for 2 with two RBI's.  Ben Carraway (2013, Creekview, GA) pitched two innings and struck out two.  He allowed one hit and his fastball reached 84 mph.  Andrew Gist (2013, Forsyth Central, GA) went a perfect 2 for 2 with an RBI and a double.  He also came around the score twice.  Clayton Daniel (2014, Guntersville, AL) went 2 for 3 with a stolen base.

The South Carolina Shockwave National used a ten run bottom of the second inning to pull away and earn a 15-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Dirtbags.

Thatcher Coleman (2013, Robert E. Lee H.S., Bishopville, SC) went a perfect 3-3 for the Shockwave, while driving in three runs and scoring two.  He has a quick bat and really stays inside the ball well.  He hits to all fields and drives the ball with regular contact. 

Dillon Palencia (2013, Broome H.S., Cowpens, SC), a Winthrop commit, went 2-2 with a walk and two stolen bases.  South Carolina commit Cory Thompson (2013, Mauldin, SC) scored three runs and drove in a pair.  Tanner Elsbernd (2013, Chiles H.S., Tallahassee, FL) also had two RBI for the Shockwave.

Zach Mitchell (2013, Boiling Springs, SC) threw all three innings for the Shockwave, striking out four batters only allowing three hits.  He was very efficient, throwing 72.7% of his pitches for strikes and throwing first pitch strikes to eight of the 11 batters that he faced.

The SC Shockwave 17U capitalized on their opportunities to sneak out a 6-4 victory over the Double Day Giants 17U despite being outhit 8-3.  The Shockwave jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but the Giants responded in the top of the 5th inning with RBI singles by Chase Cooper (2013, Armchee, GA) and Nick Tucker (2013, Coosa, GA). The Shockwave's led was cut to just 1 run until Ethan Hinkle (2013, Duth Fork, SC) doubled home a run in the bottom half of the 5th inning. The Shockwave added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning which proved to be vital as the Giants 7th inning rally came up short. The Giants scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning but it wasn't enough as the Shockwave won 6-4.  

Chandler Byars threw 6 innings for the Shockwave giving up 2 earned runs while scattering 7 hits and striking out 2.

Mark Giesler (2013, Jasper, IN) threw a complete game, striking out seven batters and only allowing one run to help the Lids Indiana Bulls defeat the Georgia Titans by the final score of 7-1.  Giesler sat at 79-83 MPH with his FB, peaking up to 85.  He also threw a change-up, slider and curveball.  

The Bulls were led by Nebraska commit Westin Edrington (2013, Hamilton Southeastern, IN), who went 2-4 with a double and a home run.  Alex Krupa (2013, Greenwood, IN), and Indiana commit, scored two runs and totaled three stolen bases.  He is a scrappy, high energy player and a phenomenal athlete.  He also showed a strong, accurate arm from the outfield and good baseball instincts.  Samuel Sampen (2013, Brownsburg, IN) was able to reach base safely in three of his four plate appearances, hitting 1-2 and drawing two walks.

The Georgia Titans were led at the plate by Keyonta Welch (2013, Southwest Dekalb H.S., GA), who was 2-3 with two doubles.  Welch also scored the team's only run of the ball game.
TBC Makes Comeback In Final Inning >>

Trailing by a run heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Tennessee Baseball Club was able to score two runs to come back and beat Pro Source 18u Chumbley by the final score of 4-3.  

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Austin Pennell (2013, Brentwood, TN) singled to RF to drive in Alex Brown (2013, Blackman H.S., Murfreesboro, TN) and tie the game.  Pennell was then able to score on an error, giving TBC the walk-off victory.

Cody Shelton (2013, Brentwood, TN) earned the win for TBC, only allowing one hit and no runs over 2.1 innings of work.  Shelton was 82-84 MPH with his fastball, with a projectable frame and loose arm action.  The 6'5" RHP was able to pitch downhill and use his 3/4 arm angle to throw a quality curveball.    

Pro Source was paced at the plate by Blake Rogers (2012, Lewisville H.S., TX), who went 4-4 with a double and a run scored.  He made very hard contact to all fields, driving the ball with good extension and a balanced swing.  Rogers also pitched in the game, showing an 86-88 MPH fastball with good life and armside run.  

Ethan Luna (2013, Liberty Christian School, Argyle, TX) was 2-4 with two RBI out of the clean up spot.  Luna showed good plate coverage and bat speed.  Alex LaGrange (2013, Denton Calvary, Aubrey, TX) was able to be disruptive on the base paths, stealing two bags and scoring a run.  He also showed a lot of power and leverage in his swing.

The DBAT Mustangs Chapman exploded for 6 runs in the 4th inning in a 7-0 victory over the East Cobb Padres 17U. The DBAT Mustangs used 3 pitchers to keep the East Cobb Padres 17U bats silent. Brent Bezio (2012, Santo HS, TX) led the pitchers going 5 strong innings and giving up 2 hits and striking out 7.  Bezio was around plate all day and kept his pitches down to keep the Padres off balance.

At the plate Thomas Kensi (2013, The Oakridge School, TX) had a great day.  Kensi reached in all his plate appearances, going 2-2 with 2 walks and 3 RBI.  Chris Torrez (2013, Cedar Hill HS, TX) added his own excitement going 2-4 with a triple and 1 RBI.

Brandon Byrd (2013, Woodstock, GA) had a double for the East Cobb Padres and finished the day 1-3.

Stephen Himic (2013, East Coweta, GA) pitched two innings and struck out two.  His fastball reached 84 mph. Aaron Williamson (2013, McIntosh, GA) pitched four inning and only gave up three hits.  He struck out three and walked one.  His fastball topped out at 81 mph.  He was around the plate 63% of the time.

Jake Whiting (2013, Alexandria, AL) went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Wave.  Trent Simpson (2013, Oxford,AL) went 1 for 3 with a double and three RBI's.  Frazier Taylor (2012, Oxford, AL) pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out two. East Cobb Braves 18U beat East Cobb Patriots '12 Thursday afternoon 13-0. All of the Braves' runs were scored in the first inning. They were led offensively by Georgia Tech commit Matt Gonzalez (2012, Harrison HS, GA) and Nick High (2012, Marietta, GA). Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. High showed good bat speed in going 2-for-2, scoring a run and driving in two.

Charles Link (2012, Holy Innocents HS) pitched a scoreless inning for the Braves, working in the 79-82 mph range. Teammate Cameron Sperry (2012, Etowah HS) tossed two scoreless frames. His fastball sat between 81-85 mph, peaking at 86.

East Cobb Indians 18u and Alabama Seminoles 17u end in a 2-2 tie in the 7th. Indians didn't have a huge day at the plate, but Young Harris College commit Hunter Chochran RHP (2011, Catersville HS, GA) was showing some speed on the mound. Cochran's fastball averaged 84mph and his curve ball in the upper 60's. 

Seminoles 351st Jesse Nelson RHP (2013, Russell County HS, AL) pitched 6 innings and had 13 strike outs. He was throwing an explosive fastball averaging around 86mph. Along with his fastball, he threw around 20 sliders that were in the lower 70's. Peyton Willams (2013, Beauregard HS, AL) was successful at the plate going 2 for 2 and racking up 2 RBI's

2012 Jared Martin (Dunwoody, GA), a Chattahoochee Valley CC commit, went 2-3 with an RBI, a double, and home run in the bottom of the 2nd for Team Gwinnett. 2012 Michael Gouge (Lawrenceville, GA) went 2-3 with 2 RBI's and a double and 2012 Corey Greeson (Calhoun, GA), a Walters State CC commit, went 2-3 with an RBI. 

2013 Chase Hulsey (Flowery Branch, GA, Flowery Branch HS) pitched a full game allowing 6 hits, 1 run, and totaling 7 strikeouts for Team Gwinnett. Hulsey's fastball ranged from 80-84mph while peaking at 85. 

For the Braves, 2013 Michael Bell (Fairburn, GA, Langston Hughes HS) went 2-3 with a double. 2014 Will Kilgore (Midland, GA, Columbus HS) pitched 4 innings totaling 4 strikeouts. Kilgore's fastball peaked at 85mph.

Top Notch's pitching staff put together a shutout effort against the Winward MACS 17u, using three pitchers in the game. 

RHP Brandon Anderson (2012, Seneca HS, Seneca, SC) got the start and threw five innings, walking none while throwing 70% of his pitches for strikes.  Anderson sat 75-79 with his fastball, and and also mixed in 11 changeups on the day.  LHP Justing Cilburn (2013, Walhalla HS, West Union, SC) and 6'4'' RHP Beau Strickland (2013, Pickens HS, Sunset, SC) chipped in two scoreless innings with two strikeouts each.  

Matthew Williams (2013, Belton-Honea Path HS, Belton, SC) singled, walked, and drove in two runs for Top Notch.

Marruci Elite beat the East Cobb Roylas 9-2 with their heat on the mound leading the way. There were lots of doubles for Marucci with George Salem #20 led the pack with 2 doubles, scoring 2 runs and 1 RBI. Nicholas Shrumpert (2015, Highlands Ranch HS, CO) went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double to left field, scoring 1, and having 1 RBI. 79th ranked Anfernee Grier (2013, Ruessell County HS, AL) had a line drive single to left field, scored 2, and had 1 RBI. 

18th ranked Trevor Clifton RHP (2013, Heritage HS, TN) was firing fastballs across that plate at and average speed of 87mph and topping out at 91mph. He showed good command on his curve ball that averaged in the lower 70's. Louisiana State commit Jared Poche (2013, Lutcher HS, LA) came in to finish for Marucci Elite and showed off his fastball at 86-88mph. 

Jared Datoc (2014, Pace Academy, GA) singled to center field and scored 1 of the 2 runs for the Royals.

It was a pitching duel today between the East Cobb Indians 17u and the Mountain View Bears, who recorded just seven hits collectively, in a game that saw the Indians hang on to a one-run lead for all seven innings.

East Cobb's Adam Barth (2013, Mount de Sales HS, Macon, GA) got the win, surrendering just three hits and one walk, while striking out nine in the process.  Barth showed good command and the ability to change speeds; he was around the plate with all his pitches, and attacked hitters throughout the day.  Barth's curveball, which he threw almost 30% of the time, is his primary out pitch. 

The Bears' AJ Moore, a 6'4'' RHP (2014, Mountain View HS, Sugar Hill, GA) was very impressive in the loss, striking out 11 and walking just one batter (he threw 73% of his pitches for strikes).  Moore has a very large, projectable frame, and does a good job pitching downhill.  He touched 88 mph with life on his fastball, which he's able to generate armside run with, and he also threw quite a few curveballs (36% of his pitches) that sat between 73-76 mph.  Moore also flashed potential with his changeup, which he threw seven times on the day.

TGBA 17U beat the SEB 18U 3-2. TGBA scored their only 3 runs needed to win in the bottom of the 4th inning.

2012 Jordan Dwyer (Woodstock, GA) went 2-3 with an RBI for TGBA. 2012 Dustin Beggs (Roswell, GA) pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs with 4 strikeouts. His strikeout percentage was 64.6%. Beggs showed good command, solid arm action, and a smooth delivery. His fastball peaked at 87mph. While batting, Beggs went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and a double. He showed good plate coverage and a balanced swing. 2013 Logan Elliot (Dunwoody, GA, Dunwoody HS) also pitched 3 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs with 3 strikeouts. Elliot's fastball peaked at 85mph.

Dazmon Cameron (2015, Eagles Landing Christian Academy, GA) had a hit, scored 1 run, and 3 RBI's. The Astros were on at the plate and smart on the bases, taking advantage of errors and capitalizing on opportunities.

Both Sharp Electronics and En Fuego Baseball got strong pitching performances in playing to a 1-1 tie.

John Wesley Ray (2014, Christian Brothers High School, Memphis, TN) got the start for Sharp Electronics, allowing just one earned run while recording six strikeouts.  Ray, a 6'5'' right-hander, impressed with a fastball that sat 83-87 mph with armside run and sink, as well a curveball, slider, and changeup that all have the potential to be good pitches.  Other than his fastball, he leaned most heavily on his curveball, which he threw 24 times, usually sitting between 68-74 mph.  Ray threw 65% of his pitches for strikes. 

The only run En Fuego Baseball's Garrett Waters (2012, Theodore HS, Theodore, AL) allowed was unearned, and he surrendered just three walks and two hits on the day.  Waters touched 85 mph with his fastball, and also threw 14 curveballs averaging 72 mph.

ABA 17U Elite used some big hits to beat the Upstate Mavericks 17U 5-1.

Elite's performance today was highlighted by 2013 Shedric Long (Jacksonville, AL, Jacksonville HS), who had a huge day. He batted a perfect 4-4 with 2 RBI's, a triple in the top of the 3rd innings and a 2-run homer in the top of the 4th. Long showed good instincts, quick bat, good bat speed, good eye, a sound hitting approach and power approach at the plate. He's athletic and strong with broad shoulders and a projectable frame.

Long's teammates 2013 Cameron Cummings (Thorsby, AL, Chilton County HS) and 2013 Webb Bobo (Pratville, AL, Pratville HS) also had good days. Cummings went 2-3 with a double and Bobo went 2-4 with an RBI. 

2013 Mason Mcdougall (Alabaster, AL, Thompson HS) pitched all 7 innings for the Elite, allowing 5 hits and 1 run with 3 strikeouts. His fastball ranged from 74-78 and it peaked at 80mph. Mcdougall showed good command, good extension out front, mound presence, balanced delivery, and control of the running game. 

For the Mavericks, 2013 Brooks Borders (Columbia, SC, Hammond HS), a Campbell commit, went 2-3 while batting.

The North Florida Storm beat the Jack City Dodgers 5-1 on the strength of six solid innings of work from left-hander Jordan Coefield (2012, University Christian High School, Jacksonville, FL).  Coefield recorded six strikeouts in six innings of work, allowing just one earned run in the process.  Coefield has the ability to change speeds and uses a solid curveball with 11/5 break. 

Jared Stedman got the start for the Jack City Dodgers and also went 2-2 from the plate.  On the mound, Stedman went four innings, allowing just four baserunners and zero earned runs.

SEB 17u got the W, 4-2, against Marucci Elite 17u behind a strong performance by starting RHP Brad Keller (2013, Flowery Branch HS, GA).  Keller gave up only 2 ER, 2 hits, and 3 walks while striking out 9 in 6 innings of work.  He was around the plate with his FB, SL, and CH arsenal and showed good command from all his pitches.  His FB velo was around 81-85 topping at 86, his SL hovered between 74-76, and his CH kept hitters off balance coming in at 75-79.

SEB 17u started off fast with 3 runs in the 1st thanks to solid hitting from the 2-3 hitters, OF CJ Navien (2013, Flowery Branch HS, GA) and OF Ryan Patterson (2013, South Gwinnett HS, GA).  Navien would earn 2 hits and score once while showing some power with a double.  Patterson showed excellent bat speed and patience by getting 1 hit, 1 run, and 2 walks.

Marucci Elite 17u had 3 players with 1 hit apiece led by Arkansas commit OF Corey Campbell (2013, Pottsville HS, AR) showing his gap power and base-running ability with an RBI triple and a run scored.

The Bama Bombers Florence's Alex Rice struck out seven in a shutout effort, allowing just three hits and two walks on the day.  Rice has a good, balanced delivery, and showed the ability to command the ball to both sides of the plate, throwing 67.6% of his pitches for strikes. 

The Bombers' Trey Mathis notched two hits, including a double, and drove in a run, displaying good bat speed and raw power. 

The Marucci Elite 16u squad got solid efforts on the mound from both Sam Proctor (2014, IMG Academies, Sarasota, FL) and Keith Weisenberg (2014, Osceola HS, Seminole, FL).  Both right-handers sat 84-87 with their fastball, while touching 88 mph.  

Proctor, a right-hander, recorded six strikeouts in five innings of work, allowing just two walks and three hits.  Proctor showed a smooth delivery with good follow through and solid arm action, as well as the ability to change speeds. 

Weisenberg, listed at an impressive 6'4'' 185 lbs, was around the plate with all his pitches-- 70.6% of his pitches went for strikes-- while being aggressive with his fastball, which he uses as an out-pitch.

The Windward Braves 17u put up a valiant effort in the bottom of the 7th scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.  The thrilling comeback would end with a groundout to 2B with the bases loaded as the Braves would fall 5-4 to the Cartersville Canes.

Canes starter Hawkins was the calm before the storm giving up 0 ER and 0 hits while striking out 6.  He worked quickly while showing good command using his lively 85-87 FB topping at 87.  He showed the ability to throw strikes with over 75% of his pitches finding the strike zone and got ahead of hitters with 8 of the 9 batters he faced seeing first pitch strikes.

Meanwhile the Canes bats made some noise early with 8 of their 10 batters collecting the team's 10 hits including 4 going for XBs. The power corners, 3B Brandon Wells (2013, Cartersville HS, GA) and 1B Will Landrum (2013, Cartersville, GA), got it done for Cartersville collecting 2 hits apiece with Landrum's balanced, linedrive swing earning him 2 RBI's. 

On the other side of the diamond the Braves' Ryan Leonard (2013, Alpharetta HS GA) and Hank Hammer drove in 3 runs combined in the bottom of the 7th with Leonard collecting 2 and Hammer 1.  That was both Leonard's and Hammer's only hit of the day contributing to the team's 6 total hits.

Andrew Smith (2012, Thompson HS, Alabaster, AL) homered and drove in four runs, leading the ABA 18u squad to a 10-2, five inning victory over the East Cobb Luck.  Smith has a projectable frame, and showed off a fluid stroke, good plate coverage, and a live bat, with good power potential. 

ABA 18u also received a solid outing from starting pitcher Ben Gann (2012, Vestavia HS, Vestavia, GA).  The 6'1'' righty allowed just one earned run in four innings of work, and recorded three strikeouts.  Gann sat 75-81 with his fastball, and also threw 17 curveballs, ranging from 66-75 mph.

Jordan Dudek (2013, Greater Atlanta Christian HS, GA) went 2 for 3 at the plate, scoring twice and with his grand slam in the 5th racking up 4 RBI's. Jacob Moore (2011, Woodland HS, GA) also had a home run and going 2 for 2 at the plate scoring twice and having 2 RBI's. Belmont commit Alec Diamond (2011, The Walker School, GA) had a hard single to center field and scored twice. 

Luck MacDonald (2011, Lawton Chiles HS, FL)  pitched 5 innings for the Astros with his fast ball averaging  80mph and curve ball in the upper 60's.

Garret Benge (2014, Yukon HS, OK) pitched 4 innings for Oklahoma Fuel and threw 19 first pitch strikes. He worked his fastball around the plate that had an average speed of 82mph and topped out at 85mph.

East Cobb Dodgers RHP Austin Hedrick (2013, North Atlanta HS, GA) worked the East Cobb Giants lineup in helping his team secure the victory 3-0.  He would finish his complete game by surrendering just 4 hits and 0 ER while striking out 3 and walking none.  He stayed ahead in the count by handing out 19 first pitch strikes to the 26 batters he faced.  He mixed it up well with his 74-76 FB touching 78 and his 66-68 CB peaking at 68.

Dodgers' Dakota Kinney (2013, Woodstock HS, GA) would do the dirty work at the plate earning 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run.  He had a fluid stroke and a nice linedrive swing that led to a 5th inning double.  He'd lead his team with 3 total bases on the day.

The East Cobb Giants finished with 4 hits all attributed to different players.  Ed Lott (2013, Kennesaw Mountain HS, GA) led the way with an XBH in the form of a double hitting out of the 9 hole.

Taylor Baynum (2013, Sussex Technical, DE) pitched 7 innings for So Cal having 7 strike outs and 0 walks on the day. 

East Cobb struggled at the plate but Sam Jokerst (2013, Holy Innocents HS, GA) laid down a good bunt to get to first, and Landon Kadi (2013, Fellowship Christian HS, GA) had a line drive single to Right Field.

ABA 17U Elite and West Cobb Cardinals came into the 7th inning tied neck and neck at 5 runs a piece.  ABA was able to score 3 runs in the top of the 7th to capture the lead and hold off the Cardinals to win the game with a score of 8-6.  The Cardinals managed to score 1 run in the bottom of the 7th to get momentum going, but Kolby Brannon (2014, Boaz, Albertville, AL) was able to hold them off and secure the victory for ABA 17U Elite.  

Morgan Miller (2013, Harrison, Kennesaw, GA), Matthew Vaccaro (2013, Hill Grove, Marietta, GA) and Benjamin Balzer (2012, North Paulding, Acworth, GA) combined for 4 of the Cardinal's 6 runs and 4 of their 6 hits.  Vaccaro and Balser also drove in 1 RBI each, but it wasn't enough to hold off ABA 17U Elite.  

Matt Morgan (2014, Dothan, Dothan, AL) assisted in his team's victory by going 1-2 and bringing in 2 of their 8 runs thanks to his quick first step and ability to run on base.  Webb Bobo (2013, Pratville, Pratville, AL) and Grayson Jones (2013, Hewitt-Trussville, Blountsville, AL) both drove in 1 run each and combined for 6 RBI's to lift their team to victory.

In the bottom of the 6th inning the East Cobb Dodgers scored 5 runs helping them to reach a tie with the Pittsburgh Dirtbags. It was led off by a solo home run by Will McKinney (2013, North Forsythe, GA) who was 2-2 in the game with 2 RBI's and drew one walk. Zach Zilweger (2013, Woodstock, GA), Zack Eller (2013, Milton, GA), and Cameron Iszler (2013, Harrison, GA) all drove in runs and Wells King (2013, North Atlanta, GA) scored on a wild pitch.

For the Dirtbags Randy Dobnak (2013, South Park, PA) was huge driving in 4 runs. Dobnak showed off his power potential and quick bat hitting a 3 run homer and a RBI double. Dobnak was 2-3 in the game and was able to stay patient at the plate as well drawing one walk. Dobnak was also the starter for the Dirtbags throwing 5 innings. Dobnak showed a solid arm and used his lower half well. He had a good fastball ranging in velocity between 82-85 mph. 

Dakota Kinney (2013, Woodstock, GA) was another member of the Dodgers team that shined at the plate. Kinney stayed inside the ball well and had a sound hitting approach. Kinney was 3-4 driving in 2 runs and moved down the line well and had good speed resulting in one steal.

RHP Deacon Aldridge (2013, Hartselle, Decatur, AL) was able to handle the Jack City Dodgers with ease after pitching a complete game and throwing a no-hitter for the East Cobb Braves 17U team to kick off the tournament with a big win.  Aldridge threw all 7 innings and let his team do the rest of the work to get the 7-0 victory over the Dodgers.  Aldridge struck out 9 of the 21 batters that he faced and only allowed one walk to keep the dodgers from getting any hits and scoring any runs.  He had good control of all pitches he threw from the mound and proved how well his arm works.  His fastball hung around in the lower 80s and his curveball showed some good potential, flirting with the lower 70s.

Travis Demeritte (2013, Winder Barrow, Statham, GA) went 2-2 with a double, one stolen base, and a walk to help bring in 2 runs and 1 RBI for the Braves.  Nathaniel Maggio (2013, Blessed Trinity Catholic, Alpharetta, GA) drove in a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to help the braves get off to a strong start by scoring 4 runs in the first inning.  Maggio ended up 1-3 on the day with 2 RBI's and scoring once.  Brian Neverrato (2013, Arlington Country Day, Jacksonville, FL) also had an impressive performance both offensively and defensively.  He showed good arm strength and online deliveries behind the plate while catching for Aldridge.  Offensively, Neverrato was 2-3 from the plate scoring 2 of the Braves' 7 runs on the day and driving in 1 RBI.  He was also a distraction when he reached the bases, stealing 2 bases to assist in the Braves' victory.

Zach Wilson (2012, Guyer, TX) pitched a complete game allowing no earned runs off of 8 hits. Pro Source 18u Chumbley won the game 4-2. Wilson showed a balanced delivery and was deceptive in his delivery hiding the ball well. This helped him to 8 strikeouts in the game. Wilson used his control on both sides of the plate to shut down hitters. Wilson also drew one walk at the plate showing a good eye.

Austin Green (2014, Campbell, GA) was 2-3 in the game for the East Cobb Luck. Green scored one of East Cobb's two runs in the game. East Cobb lost the game but Green shined along with Justin Morgan (2013, Walton, GA) who also was 2-3 in the game. 

Blake Rogers (2012, Lewisville, TX) was the man at the plate for Pro Source going 2-4 with a double that drove in 2 runs. Rogers also did well defensively showing sure hands and solid defensive tools.

The East Cobb Patriots rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning against the CV Scrambledawgs to finish the game in a 4-4 tie.  

Jamal Howard (2014, Central HS, AL) led the way for the CV Scrambledawgs by going 2-3 at the plate with a double, 1 run and 1 RBI.  Ben Williams (2012, Veterans HS, GA) also went 2-3 for the Scrambledawgs with a double, walk and 1 run.  On the mound Bubba Forest (2012, Smiths Station, AL) attacked the opposing East Cobb hitters, pitching 3 solid innings while giving up no runs on no hits and striking out 2.

For the East Cobb Patriots Wilson Morgan (2013, Woodward Academy, GA) went 2-4 at the plate while Evan Roback (2013, Westminster, GA) and Justin Milhalik (2013, Johns Creek, Ga) each added an RBI.  Hays Meyer (2013, Westminister, GA) showed good command while changing speeds in his 5 innings of work from the mound.  Meyer allowed just 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 5.

Carter Perkins (2015, Ola, GA) had the only 2 hits for Haterbilt Baseball, and that was all they needed for the win. Haterbilt won 6-4 recording only two hits. Perkins had a sound hitting approach going 2-2 showing good bat speed and a live bat hitting a RBI double. Perkins also showed patience at the plate drawing 2 walks. Perkins also shined behind the plate showing solid catch and throw potential and quickness at the catcher position.

Mat Farmikis (2013, Northgate, GA) pitched all 7 innings for Haterbilt in the win. Farmikis allowed only 2 earned runs off of 8 hits. He attacked hitters and threw a lot of strikes in the game. Farmikis' arm worked well showing riding life and cut action on his 81-84 mph fastball. He also had a average curveball with 11/5 or 1/7 break, which kept hitters off balance leading to 6 strikeouts.

Jordan Scott (2013, Arabia Mountain, GA) showed a fluid stroke and sound approach at the plate for the Georgia Titans in the loss. Scott was 3-3 showing off his power potential by ripping a double and scoring 2 runs. Scott had a good game defensively as well. Scott showed solid defensive tools with sure hands and an accurate arm. Scott also pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing only one hit and one run. Scott had a good fastball ranging in velocity between 83-85 mph striking out 3 batters.

Thanks to the impressive performance by RHP Bryan White(2013, Etowah, Woodstock, GA) from the mound, the East Cobb Blue Jays were able to take down So Cal NTT with a score of 7-0.  White pitched through 6 frames, striking out 7 batters and allowing no runs.  He showed good command of his pitches and threw strikes consistently through his 6 innings.  White made his job look easy from the mound with his effortless arm action and ability to get out of each inning.  He showed potential with his fastball which averaged between 85-88 mph and even touched 91 mph.  He was also impressive with his curveball which hung around the upper 60s and lower 70s.  

Cornell Nixon (2013, Lassiter, Marietta, GA) started things off for the Blue Jays with a solo walk-off home run to left field in the bottom of the first inning to set the pace for the rest of the game for his team.  Nixon was 1-1 on the day scoring 2 runs and driving in an RBI and being walked twice after his first inning homer.  He was also effective while on base, stealing 2 bases after being walked each time.   

Boyce Mullins (2012, Brookwood, Snellville, GA) was equally impressive offensively for the Blue Jays, going 1-2 with a double and also scoring 2 runs and driving in an RBI to help carry his team to victory.  Mullins showed some raw power at the plate, being aggressive and attacking the pitches that were thrown to him.     
CV Scrambledawgs and East Cobb Patriots '13 Tie >>

The CV Scrambledawgs and the East Cobb Patriots played to a 4-4 tie.  

For the CV Scrambledawgs, Ben Williams (2012, Veterans HS, Bon Aire, GA) recorded two hits, including a double, a drew a walk as well.  Williams shows the potential for power, with a quick bat and good extension.  He also showed good defensive skills at 1B. 

Jamal Howard (2014, Central HS, Phenix City, AL) also had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.  Howard is a good athlete with broad shoulders and a projectable frame, showing power potential of his own.  

The East Cobb Patriots' starting pitcher Hays Meyer (2013, Westminster HS, Atlanta, GA) allowed just one earned run in five innings, while striking out five.  Meyer sat 76-81 mph with his fastball, touching 83 mph, while showing good feel for both his curveball and changeup, which he does a good job maintaining his arm speed with.  Meyer showed command of his entire arsenal, throwing strikes with 63% of his pitches.

At the plate for the Patriots, Wilson Morgan (2013, Woodward Academy, Atlanta, GA) notched two hits, showing excellent bat speed and a line drive swing plane.

East Cobb Indians 17u' OF Bill Rose (2013, North Cobb, GA) hit the winning single to LF to give the Indians the walk off win, 4-3, over the Upstate Mavericks 18u.  The Indians responded after The Mavericks went up 3-2 in the top of the 7th.


East Cobb was also led by C Anthony Perez (2013, Peachtree Ridge HS, GA) who had 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 RBI.  One of his hits was a double as he recorded the only multi-hit day between the two teams.


The Indians' RHP Cole Branch (2013, Riverwood HS, GA) set up hitters well with his FB and CB en route to giving up 1 ER and 4 hits through 6 innings of work.  His FB would work between 75-78 while CB touched between 61-63.  LHP Brandon Baker (2013, Redan HS, GA) finished the game for the Indians with his lively FB.  He gave up 2 ER and 1 hit through 1 inning but his FB had potential hitting between 85-87 and peaking at 88.


The Upstate Mavericks were led by the trio of University of South Carolina-Sumter commit SS Will Thompson (2012, Dorman HS, SC), Cory Cremonese, and North Greenville commit C Wheeler Smith (2012, Laurens HS, SC).  They would each have 1 hit and 1 RBI apiece. 


They were paced by the solid outing of LHP Teddy Cillis (2013, Blair Academy, NY) who gave up 1 ER and 3 hits in 6 innings while fanning 11.  He was great around the plate, had life on his FB, and had a solid CB.  He evenly mixed his FB with his CB hitting between 81-85 on his FB topping at 86 and reaching 70-74 on his CB.

The East Cobb Yankees 17u squad beat Lids Indiana Bulls 6-1 on the strength of a complete game pitching effort by Will Jackson (2013, Milton HS, Alpharetta, GA).  Jackson allowed just one earned run on four hits and two walks, striking out six, averaging 80 mph with his fastball and touching 86 mph.  He also threw 15 changeups at 68-73 mph.  At 6'4'', Jackson has a projectable frame with room to grow.

For the Lids Indiana Bulls, Samuel Sampen (2013, Brownsburg HS, Brownsburg, IN) was the only player with multiple hits as well as the only player with an extra base hit.  Sampen shows athleticism and a live bat, with the ability to drive the ball with regular contact.

The East Cobb Astros 16U pulled out a victory, 5-3, over Top Notch as the opening day of Perfect Game East Cobb Tournaments takes off.

The Astros were led offensively by Handsome Monica (2014, St. Paul's, Mandeville,LA) and Dazmon Cameron (2015, Eagles Landing Christian Academy, McDonough,GA). Monica used his power potential to blast a home run and drove in two runs on the day while Cameron, a gap hitter with pop and a fluid defensive outfielder, had a double and an RBI to his credit.

The East Cobb Astros starting pitcher Tim Salvador (2015, Phillips Academy, Hopkinton,MA) had good extension out front, late break on curveball and good cut action on his fastball. Salvador only gave up one hit and struck out three. His fastball velocity ranged from 78-83 and hit 84 MPH.

Matthew Williams (2013, Belton-Honea Path, Belton,SC) of Top Notch led off and drove in two runs on a hit with a solid hitting approach on the day. Brent Honeywell (2013, Franklin County, Carnesville,GA) threw a nice, scoreless inning in relief with a velocity ranging 79-82. He throws easy and had good follow through on his delivery.

Marlen Hensley (2013, Gilmer, GA) pitched five innings and struck out five in Game Ready Cavaliers 4-2 win over the East Cobb Royals 17U.  Hensley gave up only one hit and one run.  Brandon Harbin (2013, Sequoyah, GA) went a perfect 1 for 1 with a double and a RBI.   Alex Shebly (2012, Creekview, GA) also pitched in with an RBI.

Ben Milley (2013, Walton, GA) pitched four innings and struck out five for the Royals. He allowed three hits and gave up two earned runs.  Sam Jokerst (2013, Holy Innocents, GA) got the only hit for the Royals.

2012 Drew Adler (Marietta, GA) went 2-3 with an RBI and 2012 John Kizzar (Alpharetta, GA) went 1-3 with an RBI for the Braves. Kizzar stayed inside the ball well, showed aggressive hitting and a quite hitting approach.  

2014 Caleb Eldridge (Edmond, OK, Deer Creek HS) went 1-2 with a double for the Fuel and 2014 Liam Sabino (East Staudsburg, PA, Blair Academy HS) went 1-3 with a double. 2013 Austin Brooks (Edmond, OK, Oklahoma Christian HS) pitched 4 2/3 innings while recording 5 strikeouts with a percentage of 66.7%. Brooks has broad shoulders, a large frame and showed good extension out front, good follow through, and hid the ball well.

The East Cobb Braves 18U beat the Marucci Elite 16U 9-5.  Top prospect Matt Gonzalez (2012, Harrison, GA) went 2 for 4 with two RBI's.  He also stole two bases.  He has already committed to Georgia Tech.  Jimmy Redovian (2012, Battle Ground Academy, TN) went 2 for 3 and came around to score twice.  Jason Richman (2012, Milton, GA) pitched for the Braves.  He went 2 2/3 innings and struck out four.  He only gave up two earned runs.  His fastball was between 85-86 and topped off at 88 mph.

Top prospect Justin Smith (2014, Bartram Trail, FL) led the Marucci by going 2 for 3 with a walk.  Another top prospect, Alex Lange (2014, Lee Summitt West, MO) pitched five innings and struck out two.  His fastball was between 86-87 and reached 90 mph. He is around the plate with pitches and throws strikes.

Sharp Electronics scored in every inning to down the SEB 18u 9-5.  

All 9 Electronics' batters earned a hit with their 3 and 4 hitters, John Ray (2014, Christian Brothers HS, TN) and OF Chris Carrier (2013, Christian Brothers HS, TN), getting both 2 hits and 2 runs apiece.  Ray was an aggressive hitter who showed great plate coverage while Carrier used his quick bat and balanced swing to hit a 3 run homer and finish with 4 RBIs.  

Sharp's RHP Brandon Wilhelm (2013, Christian Brothers HS, TN) had a decent showing giving up 3 ER and 9 hits through 6 innings of work.  He had good control all around the plate and flashed a FB between 79-84 and had it top out at 86.  His CB has some potential and sat between 67-69.

SEB 18U was led by their 6-7-8 batters' C John Wingate (2013, N. Oconee HS, GA), MIF Peter Westbury (2012, Hebron HS, GA), and OF Jonathan Briley (2013, N. Oconee HS, GA).  They each produced 2 hits apiece with Westbury and Wingate both hitting doubles.

Auburn commit Keegan Thompson (2013, Cullman HS, Cullman, AL) threw five innings of scoreless, 1-hit ball, with nine strikeouts, and went 3-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs, leading the Alabama Seminoles to a 5-0 victory over the DBAT Mustang Chapman squad.  

On the mound, Thompson showed excellent command, throwing 67.6% of his pitches for strikes.  He has a sound delivery, with outstanding arm speed coming from a high 3/4 angle.  He has a smooth delivery and lands online to the plate with consistency. Thompson sat 88-91 with his fastball throughout the game, and also threw both sliders and curveballs; the slider at 77-85 with good, late break, and the curve at 72-78.

The Marucci Elite put on an impressive offensive display at the plate in their 17-3 win over the Windward Braves 17U. Their 13 batters combined for 15 hits with 7 of them going for extra bases including 2 HRs and 1 triple.  All 13 batters scored at least 1 run, all but 3 earned a hit, and all but 2 had an RBI.  The Elite are currently comprised of 13 Division 1 commits (11 of them in the SEC alone).

Of the 5 Elite players with 2 hits apiece Auburn commit OF Rock Rucker (2012, Russell County HS, GA) led the way in the 6th hole with an additional 2 runs, and 3 RBI.  Rucker's aggressive hitting and confident approach produced 6 total bases and included a home run and a double.  Uncommitted C Austin Dunlap (2013, Westbury Christian HS, TX) was also a part of that 2 hit club that included a home run and filled up the score sheet with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and 2 walks.

Marucci's Arkansas commit RHP Lawson Vassar (2013, Pulaski Academy, AR)  quietly shut down the Braves' bats to the tune of 2 ER and 2 hits in 3 innings of work.  Vassar set the hitters up with his 83-87 FB and 75-83 SL.  His FB would top at 88 with his SL touching 83.  His partner in crime RHP Nicholas Junger (2013, Niceville HS, FL) would come in to close giving up 0 hits and 0 ER in 2 innings of relief.  His FB would hover around 83-87 and peak at 88.

Braves' OF Branon Fish (2013, Mt. Paran HS, GA) had his team's lone RBI on the day on his only hit while showing a fluid stroke at the plate.

Tennessee Baseball Club's Hunter Martin (2013, Blackman HS, Murfreesboro, TN) was terrific in a losing effort to the ABA 18u squad, recording a dozen strikeouts while allowing just one earned run in six+ innings of work.  Martin sat 78-83 with his fastball, commanding it to both sides of the plate while maintaing his velocity throughout the day.  He also threw curveballs at 65-72 mph, and a slightly harder slider at 68-75.

The North Florida Storm held on for a 1-0 victory over the Hoover Baseball Club on the strength of six scoreless innings of work by starting pitcher Brenden Pillsbury, who allowed just six baserunners and recorded three strikeouts while touching 84 mph with his fastball.  Pillsbury shows outstanding arm speed, good command, and has projectable stuff.  His curveball, which he threw 28 times ranging from 68-74, was also an impressive offering, with late, 12/6 break. 

Thomas Belcher also contributed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts for the Storm.  Belcher, working from a low 3/4 arm slot, touched 84 mph as well.  

Austin Hilken doubled, drove in the only run of the game, and didn't record an out in his four trips to the plate.  Hilken has a live bat, with gap-to-gap power and a patient approach at the plate, as evidenced by his three walks in this game. 

For the Hoover Baseball Club, Conner Short (2013, Hoover HS, Hoover, AL) had two hits, including Hoover's only extra-base hit. Short is a patient, gap-to-gap hitter with a fluid stroke and good bat speed.

Jack Clark (2014, Hoover HS, Hoover, AL), Hoover's 6'3'' starting pitcher, allowed one unearned run in five innings of work with three strikeouts.  Clark's arm works well, and he does a good job staying tall on his backside during his delivery.  He sat 67-72 with his fastball, that shows both running and cutting action at times.

A low scoring, undecided contest between the East Cobb Astros 17/18u and East Tennessee Flames results in 1-1 tie.  Both teams scored in first 2 innings with a pitchers duel the last 5 innings.

Both Astros' pitchers pitched effectively combining for a 3-hit shutout giving up 0 ER and striking out 11.  Valdosta St. commit LHP Mitch King (2012, Chattahoochee HS, GA) gave up 3 hits while striking out 8 in 4 innings of work.  King showed control on both sides of the plate and had good command with all pitches.  His FB ranged between 80-82 topping at 83.  He showed good depth on his 68-72 CB.  RHP Josh Shailer (2013, Dunwoody HS, GA) took care of the rest throwing a no-hit 3 innings to close out the win.  Shailer worked fast using his 79-83 FB peaking at 84.

East TN RHP Hunter Hayes (2013, Catholic HS, TN) competed on the mound and gave up 4 hits, allowed 1 ER, while striking out 8 in 6 innings of work.  He used a nice combination of his FB and a rarely seen SL.  He utilized his SL as his out pitch and showed good command while working between 70-74 mph.  His FB stayed around 76-80 and topped at 81.

SEB 17u wins opening game behind RHP Clay Ogle (2013, Ogelthorpe Country HS, GA) 2-0 over ABA Braves Blue.

Ogel was effective, giving up 5 hits in 6 innings while allowing 0 ER along the way.  Using good command of his active FB and his 11/5 CB, over 63% of his pitches ended up as strikes and 21 out of the 28 (75%) batters he faced saw first pitch strikes. His FB ranged between 78-81 while topping at 81 while his CB was around 64-66.

SEB's OF Ryan Patterson (2013, South Gwinnett HS, GA) got 2 hits while having SEB's lone RBI.  He showed excellent bat speed and managed a double while adding 3 total bases on the day.  

The Braves' West Georgia commit RHP Nolan Huber (2012, Arlington Christian HS, GA) pitched a complete game 8-hitter while giving up 1 ER and striking out 6.  He worked SEB's hitters mainly with his FB but did a nice job of mixing in his 11/5 CB.  He showed a rarely used good sinking CH. His velos on his FB were 78-81 while topping at 83, his CB was between 67-71, and his CH sat around 68-72.

The Tennessee Twisters beat the Mountain View Bears by a score of 1-0 in both teams'  opening game of the tourney.

Both starting pitchers kept their competitor's bats guessing as both gave up 0 ER on the afternoon.  Additionally Twister's RHP Mitch Dolinger (2013, McCallie HS, TN) pitched a complete game surrendering just 2 hits while walking 5. He primarily utilized his 77-81 FB and his 65-69 late breaking CB. He was around the plate with all his pitches and he had good control with 53% of his pitches resulting in strikes.  His counterpart, Bears'  RHP Crew Peery (2014, Mountain View HS, GA) threw 6 innings, gave up 2 hits, and struck out 5.  He changed speeds effectively with a FB, CB, and CH arsenal.  His FB was clocked between 75-81, CB was 68-73, and CH was 71-74.

Team Gwinnett 18u won it with a late 8-run rally in the  bottom of the 7th to pull off the 9-8 win against Marucci Elite 17u. Ben Jernigan (2012, Woodward Academy, GA) started off the bottom of the 7th with a home run to light Team Gwinnetts fire. Corey Greeson (2012, Calhoun HS, GA) hit a double and scored 2 runs. Stephen Mason (2012, Gainesville HS, GA) also had a double and had 2 RBI's. The bottom of the line-up and had solid hits and kept the scoring up in the 7th to bring Team Gwinnett to their victory.

Robert Pordorsky (2013, Dutchtown HS, LA) was big at the plate going 3 for 4 scoring 3 runs and having 2 RBI's. Peyton Attaway (2013, Captain Shreve HS, LA) went 2 for 3 at the plate and got 3 RBI's. Corey Campbell (2013, Pottsville HS, AR) had a double and score twice. Karmeron Esthay (2013, Sam Houston HS, LA) and Hunter Gassaway (#1) each had a double on the day.

The East Cobb Indians 18U squad rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh inning for an exciting comeback win against the East Cobb Padres 17U.

The Indians got an excellent effort on the mound from Austin Meyer (Florence-Darlington Technical College, Bethlehem, GA) who allowed just one earned run in five innings of work on the strength of 8 strikeouts.  Physically, Meyer has a strong lower half, and has good hip rotation in his delivery, as well as good, loose arm action.  He leaned heavily on his curveball, which he threw 31 times out of 86 pitches at 59-64 mph.  Meyer also hit third, doubled, and drove in a run.

Bama Bombers Florence won a 9-7 slugfest over the East Cobb Patriots '12 that included a 12 run 7th inning between the two teams.

Bama Bombers' trifecta of C Lucas Pippenger, IF Cole Veazey, and Will Bishop would go a combined 6 for 9 with 3 total bases apiece with each hitting a double. 

On the East Cobb Patriots' side the top 5 batters in the order each collected a hit.  The 2 through 4 hitters OF Josh Thomas (2012, Cherokee HS, GA), IF Doug Heath (2012, South Paulding, GA), and C Cody Trego (2013, Pickens HS, GA) all had solid games.  Thomas would show a live bat and some gap power with a triple and a run scored.  Heath collected an RBI single with two runs and a walk.  Trego had 2 hits and 2 driven in with a double.

East Cobb Renegades just sneak past the Double Day Giants 17u with a 4-3 victory. McClain Bradley (2014, West Minister HS, GA) went 3 for 4 at the plate and had 1 RBI. Kevin Anderson (2012, Wheeler HS, GA) had a line drive single to left field, scored once, and got 1 RBI.

Mike Weaver (2012, Roswell HS, GA) pitched 5.1 good innings for the Renegades and racked up 6 strike outs. Anthony Dalponte (2013, Columbus HS, GA) Came in for 1.2 innings but showed some heat on the mound with his fastball averaging 82mph and topping out at 84mph.

Drew Dempsey (2013, Model HS, GA) had a double on the day for the Giants and put up 1 RBI. Camden McGill (2013, Woodland HS, GA) and Jonah Stephens (2014, Bremen HS, GA) showed off their speed with both stealing 2 bases in the game.

The Tennessee Fury 17U squad held on for a one-run victory on the strength of a 3-3 performance by John Hale, holding off the Winward MACS 17U squad, 5-4.  Hale doubled and drove in two runs, showing a quick, compact swing with line drive plane, generating gap-to-gap power. 

The Fury's leadoff hitter, Spencer Mossburg, reached base three times, doubling twice, and drove in a run.  Mossburg displayed a short, fluid swing, and power to all fields.  Despite leading off today, Mossburg shows the potential to be a middle of the order run producer. 

Tyler Chaney (2013, Peachtree Ridge HS, Suwanee, GA) reached base twice and drove in two of Winward MAC's four runs. Chaney has good plate coverage that allows him to go with the pitch and take what the pitcher gives him.  Chaney also impressed with his receiving skills behind the plate, showing good defensive tools across the board. 

The MACS also got solid pitching efforts from Alex DeCubellis (2013, West Forsyth HS, Cumming, GA) and Joe Wilbur (2013, Norcross HS, Alpharetta, GA).  DeCubellis recorded 5 strikeouts in 4 innings of work, sitting 80 mph with his fastball while showing good feel for a curveball he uses as an out-pitch.  He also impressed with his effortless arm action, using a high 3/4 delivery.

Wilbur struck out 4 and walked none, throwing 68% of his pitches for strikes.  He sat 79-82 mph with sharp, downhill plane on his fastball, and also relied on a curveball as his out pitch, showing good depth with late, 12/6 break.

TGBA 17u scored 7 runs through 2 innings and go on to win 8-2 over En Fuego baseball in opening game of tourney.

The TGBA bats worked early and often as 9 of their 14 batters collected a hit throughout the game.  It was fueled by TGBA's middle of the order RBI factory of OF Brock Maxwell (2013, Lambert HS, GA), OF Cole Amtmann (2013, East Coweta HS, GA), and 1B Jordan Dwyer (2012, Kell HS, GA).  They would each rack up an RBI apiece with Dwyer bringing in 2.  They would also get 1 hit each with Maxwell leading the way with 2 hits and 3 total bases while showing power potential from a confident hitting approach.  

RHP Matthew Gorst (2013, Johns Creek HS, GA) of TGBA would quiet the En Fuego bats allowing 1 ER and 1 hit in 5 innings of work. His fastball worked between 82-85 and topped at 85.  He showed a 10/4 curve between 71-74.  

En Fuego's 2B Garrett Water's (2012, Theodore HS, AL) bat made some noise producing 2 of En Fuego's 3 hits while driving in both of En Fuego's 2 runs batting from the 9 hole.

East Cobb Royals topple Catersville Canes 10-3. East Cobb came out roaring scoring 6 runs in the top of the first and ending up with 4 doubles on the day. Aaron Rzucidlo (2014, Walton HS, GA) had a line drive double to left field, scored twice, and had 2 RBI's. Dalon Farkas (2014, Milton HS, GA) was 2 for 3 with a line drive double to center field and scored once. Tony Flores (2013, Harrison HS, GA) and Tim Desmond (2013, Greater Atlanta Christian, GA) each had a double and both claimed 2 RBI's.

Justin Pendley (2014, South Palding HS, GA) pitched 5 solid innings for the Royals with 69.5% strike percentage and 9 strike outs.

The top of the Chili Dogs order put up 2 runs in the top of the 7th to defeat the East Cobb Rangers 17u 2-0 in their opening game.  

OF Zachary Bailey (2013, Salem HS, GA) and OF Geremy Walton (2013, East Coweta HS, GA) both come up big with one hit apiece in the top of the 7th.  Bailey would show some gap power with an RBI double while scoring Walton on the 2nd run of the inning.  

The Chili Dogs winning pitcher RHP Robert Massenburg (2013, Northgate HS, GA) had a solid opening game surrendering only 3 hits and 0 ER in 5 innings of work.  He showed his ability to get ahead in the count with 16 first pitch strikes in 22 batters faced and located his pitches all around the plate.  His fastball was clocked between 73-80 topping at 81. 

East Cobb Rangers LHP Michael Messier (2013, Milton HS, GA) also had a solid outing giving up 2 hits and 1 ER while fanning 10 in 6.1 innings.  He did a nice job of finding the strike zone with over 70% of his pitches crossing the plate for strikes while effectively changing speeds and locating pitches inside.

Big hits is the name of the game to start off the tournament with the East Cobb Braves 16u beating the Upstate Mavericks 17u 5-3. Michael Chavis (2014, Sprayberry HS, GA) was hot on the plate going 2 for 2 with a home run to left field, a double, scoring once, and racking up 5 RBI's. Steven Tomlinson (2014, Peach Tree Ridge HS, GA) had a hard single to center field and scored on Chavis' double.

Brad Schwartz (2014, Walton HS, GA) showed potential on the mound pitching 7 innings for the Braves with 21 first pitch strikes and 8 strike outs. He had a 68.9% strike percentage, with his fastball averaging 81mph and his curve ball in the upper 60's to low 70's.

Brooks Borders (2013, Hammond HS, SC) went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 1 RBI. Austin Mapes (2013, Travelers Rest, SC) had a nice line drive double to left field and Thomas Miller (2013, Elizabethton, TN) went 2 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI.
