Davis Girard Gets The Win After Complete Game >>
Gm # 66 | 5/26/2012 | 2:00 PM Ocala Heat 16U vs. P21 16U
Thanks to RHP Ryan Davis Girard's (2014, Wiregrass Ranch, Land O Lakes, FL) impressive consistent performance throwing a complete game, P21 was able to hold off the battling Ocala Heat with a score of 2-0.  Davis Girard struck out 4 and only allowed 4 hits through all 7 innings to secure the victory for his team.  Of the 89 pitches thrown all game by Davis Girard, 57 of them came across the plate as strikes.  His fastball clocked in between 77-79 mph and topped out at 80 mph which stayed consistent throughout the game, while his breaking curveballs were recorded in the upper 60s, flirting with the lower 70s.  His balanced delivery, consistency, loose arm action and good breaking curveballs helped seal the victory for his team.

P21's Alex Goebel (2015, Wiregrass Ranch, Wesley Chapel, FL) went 2-3 at the plate and Alejandro Salazar (2015, Gateway, Kissimmee, FL) was 1-3 while scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 3rd inning to give P21 the lead and a little breathing room.  Salazar's impressive defensive performance matched with the pitching of Davis Girard made it difficult for Ocala Heat to get anything going offensively.

Ocala Heat's Top Prospect 3B Preston Stephens (2014, Vangaurd High School, Ocala, FL) had a solid day at the plate going 3-3, but was unable to get any momentum built against P21.  Stephens fluid strokes of the bat and balanced swing assisted him in getting 3 of his teams 4 total hits and made Davis Girard work for every pitch that he delivered to the plate.

Chase King (2014, Forest, Ocala, FL) showed some potential from the mound striking out 5 batters in 3 2/3 innings and only allowing one run.  What was most impressive was the smooth delivery of his pitches and how well his arm was working from the mound to throw strikes.  King's fastball came in between 78-81 mph and even touched 82 mph, that along with his curveball which clocked in around the lower 70s showed that he has great potential in the future.

RHP Reeves Martin pitched lights out through 5 straight innings against Diamond Elite, allowing only one hit and striking out 4 batters that stepped to the plate.  Of his 69 pitches, 53 came across the plate as strikes.  His control of his fastball and curveball around the plate made his job look easy.  Martin's fastball clocked in between 76-80 mph, maxing out at 81 mph and his curveballs were in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Seth Arroyo (2014, Rehobeth, Dothan, AL) contributed to SCORE International's strong offensive performance by bringing in 4 of their 9 runs and going 2-3 while also being walked once.  Arroyo's fluid stroke and balanced swing greatly assisted in SCORE International's impressive victory.
