Bullets Blast South Florida Elite Squad >>
Gm # 145 | 7/21/2011 | 2:00 PM South Florida Elite Squad vs. Bullets Baseball
        Bullets Baseball showed off just how their high powered offense can put a game out of reach right from the start of a game on Thursday as they beat up on the South Florida Elite Squad by a score of 16-3. Bullets got off to a hot start putting up 10 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and then another 6 in the 2nd. By that time it was too late for the Elite Squad to mount much of a comeback as they were already buried deep in a hole. Leading the attack for the Bullets Baseball team way their lead off hitter Jacob Wright who went 3 for 4 with 2 triples and 4 RBI's. He has a line drve swing with some lift in it, as well as a live bat that generates good power to the gaps. With the ball jumping off of his bat in this game especially Wright showed that he has good speed on the bases as well as we collected 2 triples. The Bullet team blasted out 14 hits in just 4 appearances at the plate while a combination of TJ Peterson and Austin Leeney on the on the mound for the Bullets Baseball held the South Florida Elite Squad to 3 runs on 5 hits. With this win Bullets Baseball propels themselves into the semi final round on friday as they look to make a run for the championship game which will be played at the City of Palms Park Stadium, home of the Boston Red Sox spring training. South Florida made a great run in this years tournament, showing a lot of talent and determination. However, in this game they were overwhelmed by the Bullets heavy hitting lineup and as a result were sent home. 
Braves Top SWFL 5-3 >>
Gm # 144 | 7/21/2011 | 2:00 PM East Cobb Braves 17U vs. SWFL
        SWFL and the East Cobb Braves 17u battled their way into the quarter final round of this years BCS, With the Baves coming away with a 5-3 win thanks to a late rally. The Braves put up 4 in the bottom of the 6th inning to give them the lead, and then closed out the game in the 7th, sending them to the semi-finals on Friday. The Braves were lead at the plate by Nathan Mikolas who went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's in the game. His patient approach at the plate leads to good quality at bats for the Braves, and helps him to find a good pitch to drive with runners on. Mikolas does a good job of staying inside the ball, and has the ability to hit to all fields with regular contact. The Braves put together some big hits in the game with 4 players hitting doubles, and 8 different players collecting a hit. 
        Peterson came in to close out the game for the Braves in the final inning, allowing no runs and no hits. He did a good job of giving the Braves a new look on the mound, and mixing speeds to keep the SWFL lineup from getting comfortable in the box. SWFL played a great tournament, and battled very inning in this game, but in the end their tournament run came up short as they were sent home. The Braves on the other hand live to play another day as they await their next match up.
Next Level Completes Comeback in Quarter Finals >>
Gm # 143 | 7/21/2011 | 2:00 PM Next Level Baseball vs. Schaumburg Seminoles
        Next Level Baseball and the Schaumburg Seminoles found themselves matched up in the quarter finals of the 2011 BCS, with Next level coming away with a 6-4 win. With Next Level down a run in the bottom of the 6th, as the Seminoles plated a run in the top if the inning, they were able to put together a 3 run rally which would end up being the difference in the game. Next Level was lead in the game by Jarred Shouppe who went a perfect 2 for 2 in the game with a triple and one run scored. Shouppe is a good line drive contact hitter that can take the ball to all fields with regular contact, and also runs the bases very well with solid instincts and good speed. His ability to stay inside the ball helps him find gaps in the opposing defense, putting him in good position for the rest of his team to drive him home. With Shouppe helping to keep the Next Level lineup in the game, they were able to put together their timely rally as the game went into the 7th and final inning. With this win the Next Level Baseball Team will find themselves playing on Friday in the Semi Final round of this years BCS, just one game away from the National Championship game that will be played at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers. The Seminoles put together a great run in this years tournament, but unfortunately for them they were sent packing after their tough loss.
Mauntner's Grand Slam Secures Win For Chiefs >>
Gm # 142 | 7/21/2011 | 2:00 PM FTB Mizuno vs. Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs
        The Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs and FTB Mizuno fought their way into the quarter finals, and provided the fans with one of the most exciting games of this years BCS. With both teams bringing in high powered offenses the game couldn't be settled in 7 innings, so the bases were loaded and one out was put on the board as the tie breaker rule was put into effect. For the Chiefs it was the exact man they wanted at the plate in Tyler Mauntner who wasted no time in blasting a grand slam home run to put them up 4. Mauntner ended the game 2 for 3 with 4 RBI's, a home run, and 3 runs scored. Mauntner has a live bat with big power and excellent bat speed. He takes a great approach to the plate with runners in scoring position, making him a great middle of the order run producer that the Chiefs love to have at the plate in pressure situations. FTB Mizuno then had their chance in the Tiebreaker, but they were only able to plate two runners as the game ended 9-7 in favor of the Chiefs. This win puts the Chiefs in the Semi Finals, in hopes of making a run at the national championship on Friday at the BCS.
South Florida Holds Off West Coast Nine Devils >>
        South Florida elite Squad and the West Coast Nine Devils came into playoffs of the BCS hungry for another win as neither team was ready to be sent home. Both teams managed a run in the 1st inning, but then in the 3rd the Elite Squad went up 3 and took control of the game. The West Coast Nine Devils responded with 2 runs in the 5th, but they weren't able to complete the comeback as the Elite Squad came away with a win by the score of 3-2. Evan Leyva lead the way at the plate with a 2 for 2 day, as his contact line drove approach helped to get the bottom of the order going. With runs not coming easily in the game and the West Coast Nine Devils threatening, the Elite Squad rested their hopes on Kevin Knapp who came in to close out the final 3 innings. Knapp shut the door on the Devils, allowing 0 runs and 0 hits while striking out 4. His smooth delivery and solid arm action result in an 88mph that silenced the West Coast lineup and locked up the win for the South Florida Elite Squad, putting them into the next round of the BCS Playoffs.
Crownover Shuts Down Nelson Baseball in Braves Win >>

        The East Cobb Braves 17u and the Nelson Baseball School went head to head in the first round of the 2011 BCS playoffs, With the braves coming away with a 6-0 win. Nelson Baseball School's lineup was on lock down as the Braves starting pitcher James Crownover who went the distance throwing all 7 innings of shut out baseball, no hitting Nelson Baseball school while striking out 13 batters. Crownover has a good presence on the mound and a quick loose arm action that results in an 89mph fastball that is his dominant pitch. He did a nice job of also mixing in off speed with a curveball and changeup to keep batters from locking in on the fastball, which proved to be effective all game as the Nelson Baseball School lineup didn't manage to drop a hit in throughout the game. With Crownover on the mound the Braves offense took care of business finally striking in the 4th and 5th innings to provide all the support he needed and them some in order to come away with a win and avoid being eliminated. The Braves move on to the next round with high hopes of making there way to a birth in the championship game of this years BCS in Fort Myers Florida.
Gullo Leads Schaumburg Seminoles to 1st Round Win >>

        The Schaumburg Seminoles and Florida Xcel found themselves matched up in the first round of the 2011 BCS playoffs in Fort Myers in a game that came down to the wire as the Seminoles held on to a 3-2 win. Schaumburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead as they went into the 6th, thats when Xcel began to slowly chip away with a run in the 6th and one in the 7th. However, their comeback was not enough to erase the deficit they had put themselves in already. Leading the way at the plate for the Seminoles was Ben Gullo who went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double. Gullo has a line drive contact swing with some pop to the gaps. His patient approach at the plate lets him see a lot of pitches, and provides many quality at bats for his team. Gullo also pitched 6 innings allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits while striking out 7. Gullo has good command and throws a lot of strikes from a balanced delivery. A good arm action results in an 88mph fastball with sink and a good 77mph curveball that he uses to effectively change speeds and set up hitters. With Gullo having a great day on both sides of the game, the Schaumburg Seminoles were able to hold on to their lead and move on to the next round.
Chiefs Put on Hitting Display In Round 1 Win >>

        Round 1 of the playoffs saw the Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs and the Mizuno Edge square off, with the Chiefs cruising to an easy 10-2 win. The Chiefs blasted out 15 hits from 8 different players, as they were headlined by John Norwood and Tyler Maunter. Norwood went a pefect 4 for 4 in the game with 2 doubles and an RBI. He has a quick bat and a line drive swing that takes the ball to all fields. It's when he is on base that he can really do his damage as he is a disruptive base runner with good speed, stealing two bags in the game on his way to scoring for the Chiefs 3 times.
        Maunter brought the big stick in the game going 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's and a home run. He has a short compact swing with a quick bat, and does a good job of staying inside the ball. His raw power and live bat, combined with a patient approach at the plate that drew two walks, make him a good middle of the order run producer for the Chiefs who had no problems putting them on the board on Thursday. With the win the Chiefs move on to the next round of the 2011 BCS playoffs, one step closer to a national championship game. 
Bullets Cruise Past Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico >>
Gm # 137 | 7/21/2011 | 9:00 AM Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico vs. Bullets Baseball
        Bullets Baseball started off their playoffs strong in the 2011 BCS as they rolled Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico by a final score of 9-0. The Bullets team was able to control the game the entire time thanks to strong performances from players on both sides of the game. Jesse Haney headlined the offensive attack with a 1 for 3 day that included an RBI and a home run. Haney has a strong compact swing with good bat speed and a strong wrist flick. His live bat and gap power make him a liability for opposing pitchers, as he proved in this game that you shouldn't make a mistake with him at the plate. 
        Chase Sparkman lead the way on the mound for the Bullets as he went the full 5 innings of the game allowing 0 runs and just 2 hits while striking out 6. Sparkman has good command of his pitches and throws a lot of strikes. He has a good feel for his curveball and likes to mix up his pitches to keep the opposition guessing all game. With the offense providing him with plenty of backing, Sparkman was able to cruise through the Team Mizuno lineup in route to their first round victory.
SWFL Tops East Cobb Braves 18u >>

        SWFL and the East Cobb Braves 18u went head to head in the first round of the 2011 BCS playoffs, with SWFL coming away with their first playoff win. With SWFL up 3-1 going into the 7th inning SWFL was able to add 3 more runs that would help to clinch the win by a score of 6-2. SWFL was lead by Nick Kranick at the plate as he put together a 3 for 4 day while coming around to score once. Kranick has a good contact approach at the plate, and doesn't try to do too much with the ball. He can take the ball to all fields but primarily takes the ball up the middle, and is also a smart base runner that has good instincts and solid speed. Kranick often finds himself on base which makes him a valuable asset for the hitters behind him who gain a lot of RBI opportunities because of it. 
        Danny Brown went all 7 innings on the mound for SWFL allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 6. He deos a good job of mixing speeds and has a very deceptive delivery that helps to mask his pitches. Brown was extremely effective in this game as he held a Braves offense that hasn't been stingy in the runs department this tournament in check. SWFL moves on to the next round of the BCS playoffs, putting them another step closer to the championship game on Friday.
Next Level Takes Down Cannons in First Round >>
Gm # 135 | 7/21/2011 | 9:00 AM Next Level Baseball vs. Cannons Baseball
        The First round of the 2011 BCS Playoffs started on Thursday, with Cannons Baseball and Next Level Baseball starting things off in Fort Myers. Next Level Baseball came out ready to go by quickly jumping out to an early 8-0 lead but Cannons would chip away at that lead as they fought their way back into the game. However, they weren't able to chip away enough as Next Level came away with a 10-6 win that sent the Cannons packing. Next Level Baseball was lead at the plate by Jared Shouppe who went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's. Shouppe has a good line drive contact swing with some lift in it that helps him to drive the ball to the gaps. His confident approach at the plate makes him a good run producer for Next Level, while his good speed on the bases makes him a threat to score as he came all the way around twice in the game. 
        Gage West also put together a nice game for Next Level as he went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's. West does a good job of staying inside the ball and can take it to all fields. He has a good approach with runners in scoring position, which makes him a valuable addition to the middle of the Next Level lineup. With the Next Level bats providing the offense that they needed to stay ahead, they look to continue their tournament run in the next round of this years BCS.
FTB Mizuno Powers Past Florida Pokers >>

        FTB Mizuno and the Florida Pokers matched up in the first round of the 2011 BCS Playoffs with FTB Mizuno shutting down the Pokers in an 8-0 win. FTB Mizuno started hot scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and they continued to build from there as they were in complete control of the game the entire time. FTB Mizuno was lead by Austin Dean and Jamal Martin at the plate as they helped to power the FTB attack. Dean was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game with a double and 1 RBI. He takes a patient and confident approach to the plate along with a mechanically sound swing and good bat speed. His line drive contact swing helps him to drive the ball with regular contact to all fields.
        Jamal Martin was 1 for 3 from the lead off spot for FTB Mizuno, adding an RBI and a home run to his stat line. Martin has a short, compact, balanced swing with excellent bat speed that helps to generate good power to the gaps from his live bat. Not only can Martin hit for power, but he can run the bases very well too. Martin has good speed and is very disruptive when he gets on, making him a real liability to whoever is facing him on the mound. FTB Mizuno will move on to the next round as they continue to make a run for the final round of the BCS to have a shot at a national championship. 
Huge win for West Coast Nine Devils >>

4 runs in the first for West Coast Nine Devils, 12 in the 3rd. Thats all they needed to get a 16-4 win vs Citius Bandits.Tyler Beeman of West Coast Nine Devils went a perfect 3-3 with 4 RBI's on the day with a run scored himself. Tyler has a quick bat and stays inside the ball well. His teammate Chase Sandberg, an athletic, medium frame player went 3-3 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored himself!

Florida Vipers Daniel Campbell with raw power went 3-4(homern,2 singles) on the day with a walk and 2 RBI's, also scoring 2 runs himself. His Teammate Tyler Packanik had a big RBI day going 1-3 (double) clearing the bases getting 3 RBI's! The final score of this game was Florida Vipers- 11, Team Volusia Black- 4.

Chris Ohmstede of Nelson Baseball School went 4-4(homerun,2 doubles,2 singles) on the day with 5 RBI's! Chris has gap to gap power with a live bat. He has a medium frame,athletic,strong, projectable frame. Caden Ferguson got the win on the day throwing 6 innings striking out 9 and only giving up 2 hits. His Fastball was ranging from 82-87 mph. Final score for this game was Nelson BAseball School- 11, St Johns Heat- 1.
En Fuego Takes Down Bucky Dent UNC >>

        En Fuego Baseball picked up another pool play win as they went up against Bucky Dent UNC on Tuesday at the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers Florida, winning by a score of 6-1. En Fuego was in control the entire time, and never surrendered the lead as they kept Bucky Dent UNC scoreless until the 7th inning. En Fuego was lead by Tino Benjamin at the plate who went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 runs scored. He has a quick bat with a line drive swing plane and power approach at the plate. Benjamin has a knack for finding his way on base for his teammates to drive him in, and he possesses good 1st to 3rd speed which helps him get to the plate for En Fuego. 
        En Fuego played solid defense behind their pitching staff, while the lineup has helping to drive home runs and build on their lead that they were able to establish right out of the gate. Both teams will continue pool play, but as time till the playoffs wind down every win and loss is becoming more and more important as teams are trying to make the final push for one of the open spots in the next round.
Xcel Hold On To Win Over Bullets >>
Gm # 73 | 7/19/2011 | 9:00 AM Bullets Baseball vs. Florida Xcel
        Florida Xcel and Bullets Baseball played a close game that came down to the wire as the Xcel were just able to squeak by with a win by the score of 3-2 on Tuesday at the BCS. Florida Xcel jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first and added another in the 5th to put them up by three. In the 6th the Bullets finally got on the board with a run, and then tacked on another in the 7th coming up just short of a tie. The Xcel were lead by Louis Reyes who went 2 for 3 in the game. Reyes is a line drive contact hitter that does a good job of staying inside the ball. He helps to spark the bottom of the Xcel order, and get on base for the top of the lineup to drive him in, but neither of the teams were doing much of that in this game. 
        Mike Nessel pitched all 7 for the Xcel allowing 2 runs (1 earned) and 8 hits while striking out 7. Nessel has good command and stayed around the plate with all of his pitches. His arm works well and he does a good job of setting up hitters and changing speeds. He had held the Bullets scoreless until the 6th, but was able to keep them from rallying enough late in the game in order to maintain the win for the Florida Xcel.
Luke & Levi Borders Power Winter Haven to Win >>
        The Winter Haven Post 8 Scout team was able to secure another win on Tuesday at the BCS, as they took down the Bucky Dent Royals by a score of 9-5. With the game going into the 6th and final inning the score was tied 5-5, but in the top of the inning the Post 8 Scout team was able to rally for 4 runs which would end up securing the game for them as they shut down the Royals in the bottom of the inning. The Winter Haven Post 8 Scout Team was lead by Levi and Luke Borders at the plate who continued their high level of play in the tournament with big days at the plate. Levi went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a home run. He has a fluid, short compact swing with good extension. His sound hitting approach makes him a solid middle of the order run producer that can drive the ball to the gaps with good power.
        Luke Borders also went 2 for 3 in the game, adding 1 RBI and 2 doubles to his game. He has good bat speed, as well as good plate coverage that help to generate raw power to the gaps. Luke also runs the bases well with good speed and a quick first step that make him a dangerous person to have on base. The combination of the two Borders was able to help carry the Post-8 Scout Team to another win, hoping it will help them qualify for a playoff birth.
Connell Shuts Down Heat in Mavs Win >>
Gm # 71 | 7/19/2011 | 9:00 AM Ocala Heat vs. Upstate Mavericks Black
        The Upstate Mavericks Black and the Ocala Heat went head to head on Tuesday at the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers Florida, with the Mavs cruising to an 8-0 win behind a strong performance from their starting pitcher Kevin Connell who went all 7 shut out innings allowing only 3 hits while striking out 9 Heat batters. Connell has a solid arm action and is a competitor on the mound. He has good command of his pitches and often finds himself ahead in the count, while keeping batters off balances by changing speeds from an 89mph fastball to a 76mph slider that is his out pitch. Connell also helped his cause on the mound by hitting a triple in the game showing good gap power and a quick bat at the plate.
        Joining him with another good day at the plate was Taylor McCuen who went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and one run scored. McCuen takes a confident approach to the plate, and uses a line drive swing with some pop to drive balls to the gaps. He has good running ability, and has the potential to be a big run producer for the Mavericks. In this game however, the Mavs would have only needed one as Connell was dealing on the mound and secured a big win for his team.
Next Level Handles Team Citius, 10-3 >>
Gm # 70 | 7/19/2011 | 9:00 AM Next Level Baseball vs. Team Citius
        Team Citius and Next Level Baseball faced off in pool play of the 2011 BCS on Tuesday, with the Next Level team coming away with a big 10-3 win. Next level put three runs on the board right away in the first, and they didn't look back from there as they took control of the game to lock up a win. Next level was lead by Blair Huggins at the plate as he went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. He is an aggressive line drive contact hitter who will jump on a good pitch if he gets one early in the count. He can hit to all fields, and does a good job of finding gaps. He also is a solid catcher for Next Level with a strong and accurate arm, as well as solid catch and throw potential. 
        JD Little took the mound for Next Level and was very effective in the game as he threw all 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 11. Little has good command on both sides of the plate and can pitch effectively inside. He does a nice job of setting up hitters and changing speeds, keeping his opposition off balance all game. His sound mechanics, good follow through with extension out front, and playable arm allow him to put in work for his team, who in this game rewarded him with a lot of run support and a win.
Wolverines Crush Baymen Red Sox >>
        The Long Island Baymen Red Sox and the Midwest Wolverines squared off in pool play of the 2011 BCS, as the Wolverines came trough in a big way to pick up a 13-1 win. The Wolverines were in control the whole time, and showed no signs that they were about to let up as the game ended due to run rule stoppage. The Wolverines were saw performances from a few key players including Tory Bell and Gabe Cook. Bell went 3 for 4 in the game with a double and 3 RBI's. He has a good contact line drive swing and a sound approach at the plate that make him a solid middle of the order run producer for the Wolverines who have the ability put up big numbers.
        Gabe Cook went 2 for 4 in the game with 2 doubles and one RBI on his way to scoring twice for the Wolverines. He has a line drive swing with lift and some pop to the gaps. We can also run well down the line, which makes him a dangerous member of their order. Cook also pitched all 4 innings for the Midwest Wolverines allowing only the one earned run. He has outstanding arm speed and good follow through, with a balanced deliver and solid mechanics. He likes to attack hitters with an 88mph fastball, and then come back with a 79mph slider that he uses as his out pitch. The Wolverines had no problems taking care of the Long Island Baymen Red Sox, as they picked up another big pool play win.
East Cobb Braves Pound Dulin Dodgers 12-4 >>
Gm # 68 | 7/19/2011 | 9:00 AM East Cobb Braves 18U vs. Dulin Dodgers
        The East Cobb Braves 18u looked to continue their high level of play on Tuesday as the took on the Dulin Dodgers in pool play of the 2011 BCS, and continue it they did as they came away with a 12-4 win. Dulin may have struck first with a run in the top of the first, but after that it was all braves as they got that run back and them some.  The Braves offense was firing on all cylinders in this game as they pounded out 10 hits, with their lead off hitter Jakob Nixon leading the way with a 2 for 3 day including a double and 3 RBI's. Nixon has a short compact swing with a strong wrist flick and good bat speed. He is an aggressive hitter that often finds his way on base, and can be a disruptive base runner as well with good speed and base running ability. Nixon and the Braves have made themselves a good contender in the tournament, looking to find themselves playing for a possible national championship if they can make it in and through the playoff rounds. Dulin in the mean time will look to rebound after this tough loss as pool play continues in Fort Myers.
Cannons Baseball Shoot Down Braves >>
Gm # 19 | 7/18/2011 | 4:30 PM East Cobb Braves 17U vs. Cannons Baseball
        Cannons baseball and the East Cobb Braves 17u went head to head in pool play as both teams are giving everything they have to find themselves qualifying for the playoffs on Thursday after pool play is done. The game stayed close throughout, and many times looked as though it could have gone in favor of either team. However, it was Cannons who came away with the all important pool play win by a score of 5-3. Josh Townsend lead the way at the plate for the Cannons Baseball team as their lead off hitter went 2 for 3 in the game with 1 run scored. Townsend has a good lead off approach for his team, providing them with quality at bats from the top spot in the lineup that help to get the Cannons lineup in gear. He has a good line drive contact swing, and can take the ball to all fields with regular contact. Townsend can make a difference on the bases too with good speed, and solid base running instincts. 
        The Cannons played a complete game in this matchup backing up their offense with strong defense. Both teams have put themselves in a good position to make the playoffs in this years BCS, so watch out for them to be in the next round as the clubs begin to focus in on winning it all down in Fort Myers.
Cherokees Bury SEM Pirates 14-6 >>

        The SEM Pirates and the Chattanooga Cherokees played on Monday, With the Cherokees putting up big runs on their way to a 14-6 win. The Cherokees got things going right away with 2 runs in the first, and they kept it going from there scoring in every inning of the game in route to their pool play victory. The Cherokees were lead by Tyler Baker who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's in the game. Baker is a good line drive contact hitter that does a nice job of staying inside the ball. He is a good athlete that can take the ball to all fields, and is a good runner on the bases as well. His ability to get on base pays dividends for the hitters behind him as they were able to bring him around 2 times in the game, helping to get the ball rolling in what has proven to be a high powered offensive attack from Chattanooga. The SEM pitching staff couldn't handle the Cherokee lineup in this game, as they found themselves in a hole right away that was too big to climb out of. Both teams will continue to try and make a push for the playoffs as pool play resumes the next day at the 2011 BCS, in hopes that their tournament wont be cut short.
Grand Slam Carries FTB Mizuno Over Bandits >>

        FTB Mizuno and the Citius Bandits went head to head on Monday with the FTB Mizuno winning in dramatic fashion by a score of 5-1. The game went into the bottom 6th inning tied at 1-1 after both teams put up their first runs of the game in the 5th, and thats when with the bases loaded FTB Mizuno's Dean stepped up to the plate and blasted a grand slam home run which would end up as the game winner. He has raw power with excellent bat speed and good extension, making him a good middle of the order type run producer for his team.
        FTB Mizuno also showed their talent on the mound as well throwing Jason Carmichael for the first 3 innings allowing only 1 hit, while striking out 5. He has a smooth delivery with good extension out front, a loose arm action ,and good follow through from a large frame. He showed great command around both sides of the plate and likes to work fast while attacking hitters with a 92mph fastball. His explosive pitches made him almost untouchable in this game, building a base for the rest of the staff to come in and finish out the game as FTB Mizuno helped build their record for a possible playoff appearance.
Royals Late Rally Sends Them Past Chiefs >>
        The Bucky Dent Royals and the Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs went back and forth in their game on Monday trading the lead multiple times, however it was the Royals who came through in the top of the 6th and final inning to notch a 6-5 win over the chiefs. The Royals were lead at the plate by Sergio Leon who went 1 for 2 with a double and one RBI. Leon can hit to all fields and has good power to the gaps. Its when he gets the ball to the gaps that he is at his best as he can use one of his best tools in his running ability to make things happen for the Royals as he moves very well down the line. 
        Jesus Colon toed the runner for the Royals in this game, and threw the first 3 innings of play allowing only one run on one hit as he struck out 6. Colon flashed a 90mph fastball that he mixed with an 82 mph slider that has good depth and short late break. He showed very projectable stuff on the mound, and set the tone for the Royals in this game as they walked away with a big pool play win as they make a push for a possible playoff spot.

        En Fuego Baseball showed off some big bats as they cruised past the All American Prospects by a score of 9-1 on monday at the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers. En Fuego blasted out 10 hits including a double, three triples, and a home run on route to their win as a few of their players shined in particular. Toby Thomas went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, and 2 RBI's. He has a quick bat with leverage in his swing, and good extension. His confident approach at the plate is combined with a live bat that generates good power, and he also runs the bases well with good instincts and speed. His game is rounded out by his skills on defense such as soft hands, smooth transfer, and strong arm.
        Tino Benjamin also had a big day going 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 2 RBI's. Benjamin has a live bat with power potential, and was able to really showcase that in this game with his home run. When he isn't trotting around the bases after a home run he also shows that he is a threat on the bases too as he possesses good speed.        
        While the En Fuego lineup was doing damage at the plate, Russ Mosley was throwing a gem of a game for the team. Mosley went all 6 allowing one run (unearned) and no hits while striking out 11. He has a good presence on the mound and attacks hitter early with good command of all of his pitches on both sides of the plate. He did a good job of mixing speeds, and his sound mechanics allow him to stay effective all game. With Mosley shutting down the All American Prospects and the Lineup crushing the ball, the En Fuego team was able to roll to an easy win.

An outright winner was never determined in the game between the Ocala Heat and Sarasota Baseball Club.  Tyler Leonard, (RHP, 2014, Sarasota HS, Sarasota FL) was 2-3 on the day.  He stays inside the ball well, has a linedrive swing plane, patience at the plate, gap power, and consistent contact with power.  

Connor Crile (C/OF, 2013, North Marion HS, Anthony FL) was 1-2 (2B). He has a fluid stroke, stays inside the ball well, with a short, compact swing, good bat speed, and aggressive approach. 
Power Bats Lead Xcel Past Braves >>

        Monday at the BCS brought the East Cobb Braves and Florida Xcel to the park for a pool play game. The Xcel got it started early with a run in the top of the first, and they never looked back from there as they were in control throughout the entire game on there way to a 9-7 win over the Braves. The Xcel got some help in the power department from Brandon Houle and Darren Hansen in this game as they helped put a charge in the lineup. Houle was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 RBI's, he possesses raw power to all fields, and takes a sound approach to the plate with runners in scoring position. Houle also closed out the game on the mound for the Xcel throwing 1 2/3 shut out innings only allowing one hit while striking out 4 with an 86mph fastball and 73mph curve.
        Hansen delivered another home run for the Xcel as he also put together a 1 for 3 day with an RBI and reached once more on a walk. He has a power approach at the plate, but does good with pitch selection and laying off bad pitches. He has a live bat with good power to the gaps, and showed with him and Houle hitting next to each other in the lineup for the Xcel that pitchers need to be very careful not to make a mistake because they may end up paying for it as they trot around the bases.
5280 Secures Win Over Cannons >>

        5280 Baseball and Cannons Baseball came into their game on Monday looking to grab another pool play win in order to make a run for a possible playoff spot in this years BCS. It was Cannons who struck first in the game, but they were not able to hold onto the lead as 5280 came back to win the game by a score of 6-2. Adam Gauthier lead the charge for 5280 going 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and 4 RBI's. Gauthier is a gap to gap hitter with some pop, he has a line drive contact swing and does a nice job of driving the ball with regular contact. 
        Patrick Williamson toed the rubber for the 5280 team, and pitched all 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs and 5 hits while striking out 6. Williamson showed good control of all of his pitches on both sides of the plate. He dd a nice job of going after hitters right away, throwing first pitch strikes to 20 of the 26 batters he faced. He was effective at keeping the cannons lineup off balance thanks to a steady mix of pitches and change in speeds, which was enough to secure the win for his team in an important pool play game.

        Bucky Dent UNC and the 643 DP Cougars found themselves matched up on Monday, with the cougars pulling out an important BCS pool play win by a score of 3-1. The Cougars were lead by Josh Merrigan who came through big for his team at the plate and on the mound. Merrigan went 1 for 2 at the plate with a line drive contact swing. He dies a good job of staying inside the ball and driving it to gaps to put him on base for the men around him to drive him in, which paid dividends as he came around to score 2 of the teams 3 runs in the game. On the other side of the ball Merrigan also threw the final 2 innings for the Cougars holding Buck Dent UNC scoreless while only allowing 2 hits. He did a good job of attacking the strike zone, as well as changing speeds. His off speed pitches are effective thanks to his steady arm speed, helping to keep the opposing hitters off balance and as a result off the bases. Merrigan and the 643 DP Cougars were able to outlast UNC as they picked up another very important pool play win. Both Teams will continue pool play on Tuesday and look to find themselves in a position to make the playoffs when all the seeding is said and done.

The Schaumburg Seminoles won a tough fought game versus the Nelson Baseball School with a 6-5 score.  With 22 total hits and 12 of them being extra base hits, the defense was exceptional on both side to have only allowed 11 total runs. Joey Vecchione (2011, Pinecrest HS, Pinehurst NC, committed to Richmond) of the Seminoles was 2-3 (1B-3B) with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  He is a solid runner with good bat speed and gap to gap power to all fields.  

For Nelson Baseball School, Marquise Vialet, (2011, RHP/OF South Paulding HS, Douglasville GA, committed: West Georgia) went 3-3 (2 doubles-single) with 1 run scored.  At bat he has a fluid stroke, quick bat, compact swing, good plate coverage, and a sound hitting approach. 

Chris Ohmstede (2011, OF, Walker HS, Marietta GA, committed: Furman), also from Nelson Baseball School, went 3-4 (2 doubles-single) batting with 3 RBI, and 1 run scored. He has a quick bat, quiet hitting approach, and gap to gap power with pop. 
Curcio & SWFL Take Down Winter Haven >>

        SWFL and the Winter Haven Post-8 scout team were matched up on Monday as pool play of the 2011 BCS continued. Winter Haven jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hold off the SWFL offense who was lead by their lead off hitter Keith Curcio. Curcio went 3 for 4 in the game with a double, a home run, 4 RBI's, and 3 runs scored. He has good bat speed from a line drive contact swing that has lift in it, and a live bat that has good power potential. He is a solid run producer for the SWFL team, and can also run the bases well as he stole a base in the game on his way to scoring 3 times. Curcio has great athleticism, and has the potential to change a game for SWFl as an impact type of player. SWFL was up by a run in the bottom of the 6th but put it away as they increased their lead to 4 runs with a 3 run bottom half. They shut down the Winter Haven Post 8 Scout Team in the 7th to take the game by a score of 7-3, but both teams will fight on as pool play continues in Fort Myers. With the playoffs on the line you can bet that these teams will be stepping up to the plate with a real sense on urgency as they don't was to miss out on the next round.
Neufeld & Seminoles Power Past Sarasota  >>

        The Sarasota Baseball Club and the Schaumburg Seminoles went head to head on monday in pool play of the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers Florida. Sarasota jumped out to an early lead but the Seminoles came fighting back to tie the game going into the 7th. It was in the bottom of the 7th that the Seminoles came through in the clutch to pull out the victory, as they were carried in the game by a couple of big bats in the lineup. Mike Vilardo lead things off for the Seminoles going 2 for 4 with 2 double and an RBI. He is an aggressive hitter with good bat speed and power to the gaps. He has good eyes and his bat is his best tool. He wasn't the only one hitting well for the Seminoles in this game, as AJ Neufeld went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, and 4 RBI's. He is an aggressive middle of the order run producer with a power approach at the plate. Neufeld has good extension and bat speed while doing a nice job of staying inside the ball with a live bat. These two players helped to take control of the game for the Seminoles, and as a result they walked away with a 7-5 win.

Cannons Baseball defeated Florida Xcel in the 18U BCS Monday with a score of 4-1.  Justin Tedder from Cannons Baseball was 1-2 with 1 RBI in the low scoring game.   He hits with a fluid stroke, stays inside the ball well, goes with the pitch, and has patience with a good eye for the zone. 

Florida Xcel players, James Braggs and Brandon Roberts, both had exceptional games as well.  Braggs threw 5 innings giving up 3 hits, and just 4 runs; he struck out 2 batters, and impressively threw 70% of his 60 total pitches thrown were strikes. Brandon Roberts, from Cannons Baseball was 1-2 with 1 RBI. He stays inside the ball well and has good bat speed with excellent foot speed on the bases.

The East Cobb Braves took on 5280 Baseball on Monday; it looked good for 5280 Baseball going into the 5th inning when they were leading the younger age division East Cobb Braves 7-2.  Then the East Cobb Braves turned up the intensity and racked up 5 runs in the 5th inning, with 2 more to follow in the top of 7 to give them the 9-7 score which they defended for the win.  

Top prospect, Skye Bolt of the E.C. Braves went 2-4 (1B-3B) at the plate with 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.  He has a fluid stroke with a sound hitting approach and live bat; he makes very hard contact and the ball jumps off the bat. He is also an exceptional runner, he moves well down the line and is quick from 1B to 3B.  Kyle Carter, also from the Braves, had a noteworthy day as well when he went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  He is an aggressive hitter with a confident approach and good eye for the zone.  

Opponent, Chris Gibbens from 5280 Baseball, held his own during the game when he went 3-3 (2B-1B-1B) with 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  He is a confident, lead-off type hitter with a sound hitting approach and gap to gap power to all fields.

The St. Johns Heat played against Team Citius when the Heat won 3-1.  Team Citius was shutout until the bottom of the 7th inning where they got 1 run but failed to get the last few across home.  Richard Williams of the Heat was the starter for the Heat and threw 4 solid innings recording 6 strikeouts.  Of his 62 pitches thrown, he got 58% of them across the plate for strikes.  He  has a smooth delivery, good command of his FB topping at 86mph, and armside run on the FB as well. Fellow teammate, Andrew Hagaman, also contributed to the success of the team when he went 1-3 with 2 RBI's.  He has a quick bat, lateral agility, and a confident approach.

The Florida Bruisers were matched up against the Florida Bombers on Monday at the 18U BCS.  The Bombers chose to go with the slow and steady approach in this game, while the Bruisers went with what would have resembled more of a sprinter.  The Bombers collected runs in every inning while the Bruisers got all 9 in one single inning.  The final was 9-6, Florida Bruisers winning.  
 
Quevedo, of the Bombers went 2-2 (1B-2B) with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's.  While Forrest Hunter of the Bruisers, went 2-3 (1B, 3B, 1B) with 3 RBI's.  He has a lively bat with gap and raw power and slightly open stance.

Florida Baseball Academy Red played the Jacksonville Warriors on Monday in the 18U BCS tournament.  The final score was 6-4 Jacksonville Warriors; FL Baseball Academy committed 4 errors in the game, which could have proved costly in a game as close in score as this one was.  Myles Straw from FL Baseball Academy Red went 2-2 with 1 RBI; he stays inside the ball well with a short, compact swing and a good-aggressive approach at the plate. Opponent, Kellen Creech, also went 2-2 with 1 run scored.  He hits with a balanced swing, makes hard contact, and has exceptional bat speed.

        Nelson Baseball School and the Ocala Heat met in pool play pf the 2011 BCS on Monday, with the Nelson Baseball School running away with the game by a score of 9-0. The Nelson Baseball lineup showed how quickly it can put a game away by scoring 7 in the 3rd, and then closing it out just 2 innings later due to run rule. They were helped in part thanks to Chris Ohmstede who went 2 for 2 at the plate with a home run and 4 RBI's. Ohmstede has a quiet and confident approach at the plate, which combined with his good bat speed and live bat make him one of the bigger threats in the Nelson Baseball Lineup. He hits well to the gaps and can drive the ball with regular contact, and in this game helped to get the Nelson offense rolling as they cruised past the Ocala Heat. Parker Shank took care of the Heat as the starting pitcher for the Nelson Baseball School he threw all 5 innings of the game allowing only 3 hits. He did a good job of changing speeds to keep hitters off balance, while attacking the zone on both sides of the plate. Both teams will continue in their pool play as they look to qualify for a chance to play in this years playoffs of the BCS.

Citius Bandits came out swinging in the first putting 2 runs on the board right away. Scoring 2 more in the 2nd and 3 more on the fourth. But chattanooga Cherokees scored 1 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th, and both teams scored a run in the 7th. Coming out on top was Citius Bandits 8-5 vs Chattanooga Cherokees. A big day at the plate for Ty wasington(solo), Luke helms (three run shot),and Jason Wilton(2 run shot) all having homeruns. Jason Wilton Helped himself out scoring runs and also got the win on the mound. Jason was 84-88 mph on his FB for the day.

The Dulin Dodgers played against the Delco Diamonds and were no hit in their 9-0 loss.  Daniel Garner had himself a day when he went 2-2 (HR-single) with 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.  He has excellent bat speed, a quiet hitting approach, ability to drive the ball with regular contact and power to all fields.  John Marc Shelly, also from the Dulin Dodgers, was 2-3 with 4 RBI's; he is an aggressive, middle of the lineup hitter with power to all fields.  He is also a good runner; he has a quick first step out of the box, impact speed, and is disruptive on the bases.

        The Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs Played All American Prospects 18u today. It was a low scoring game and only 7 hits combined on the day. Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs came out on top after scoring a run in the bottom of the 6th inning and got them the win with a final score of 2-1. Starting for Syracuse Sports Zone Chiefs today was pitcher Matt Pirro. Matt Pirro has a medium frame with armside run on his FB. He has solid arm action with outstanding arm speed. Matt threw 4 innings only giving up 2 hits with 8 strike outs on the day. 
        All American Prospects 18u Starting pitcher,Harrison Hukari got the lose today but still pitched very well in a pitchers game. Harrison is a mature player with a strong projectable frame. Harrison has life on his FB with a smooth delivery and also had a good 1/7 CB.

        The 643 DP Cougars jumped out to an early lead in their game against the Winter Haven Post 8 Scout Team, but they weren't able to hold on to it as Winter Haven came roaring back to win by a score of 6-3. Joe Lopez pitched all 7 for the Winter Haven Post 8 Scout team allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 5. Lopez showed good command and did a nice job of going after hitters. He mixed speeds well between his fastball and his curveball, and while not having dominant stuff was effective at getting hitters to put weak balls in play for the defense to take care of. Down 3-0 after the first inning the Post 8 Scout team steadily chipped away, and then gained the lead in the game tacking on one more insurance run in the 6th. After the rough start to the game for Lopez, he was able to settle in and make sure that he protected the lead his team had built for him. Lopez didn't disappoint as he held the Cougar scoreless after the first, securing the victory for his team. 
Duel Ends in Tie For Hardballers & Wolverines >>

        The Florida HardBallers and the Midwest Wolverines couldn't get the bats going in Fort Myers on Monday, as neither team was able to break a 1-1 tie in their pool play game. It was the pitching on both sides that dominated in this matchup, with both starting pitchers performing very well. For the Harballers its was Josh Stewart taking the mound, going all 7 innings allowing one earned run and 5 hits while striking out 9. Stewart pitches downhill with a quick loose arm, smooth mechanics, and online delivery. He likes to attack hitters, and does a good job of setting up hitters by changing speeds. He has an 86mph fastball with arm side run that he mixes with a good 73mph curveball with late break and good depth that he uses as his out pitch. 
        Opposite of Stewart was Matt Wivinis who toed the mound for the Wolverines for 6 1/3 innings while only giving up one earned run and 2 hits while striking out 6. Wivinis has a god arm action with a solid follow through from a smooth delivery. He showed good command on both sides of the plate and a solid knowledge of how to pitch by setting up hitters and changing speeds effectively all game. He primarily uses an 87mph fastball with arm side run and a slider with good depth at 77mph. Both pitchers were evenly matched in this duel, as neither team had an answer for them on the mound. Both team will continue pool play as they look to find their way into the playoffs.
South Florida Elite Squad Scores Big Win Over Cubs >>

        The South Florida Elite Squad and the East Cobb Cubs went head to head on Monday as pool play of the 2011 BCS continued. It was a high scoring affair in this game as the teams combined for 20 runs, with the South Florida Elite Squad coming away with a 12-8 win. The Elite Squad wasted no time in this game as they scored early and often, but the East Cobb Cubs never quit fighting as they scored 5 in the bottom of the 5th to keep the game from ending due to run rule. However, with time winding down they weren't able to score the runs they needed to come away with a win. Michael Pierson went 3 for 3 in the game for the Elite Squad with a triple, and home run, and 3 RBI's. He has a quick bat from a smooth compact swing with good extension and lift. The ball seems to jump off of his live bat that generates good power to all fields as he drives the ball with regular contact. He and the South Florida Elite Squad exploded for 12 hits in the game coming from 7 different hitters in what is a very potent line up. The Elite squad coasted through this game for the most part, except for a hiccup in the 5th, and thanks to their confident approaches at the plate and ability to piece runs together they came away with a big win. Both teams will continue pool play as they fight for a chance to make the playoffs in this years BCS, but they will have to come ready to play as the level of competition has been increasing throughout the first two days in Fort Myers.
St. Johns Heat Holds off Florida Bombers >>

        The Saint Johns Heat and the Florida Bombers played on Monday at the 2011 BCS. The Heat busted out of the gate right away, scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings before the Bombers finally settled in. The Bombers on the other hand couple get much going at the plate on the day as they were held to one run up until the bottom of the 6th where they scored twice. However, at that point it was too little too late and the Heat took the win by a score of 8-3. The Heat were lead by Garrett Jordan at the plate who put together a 3 for 4 game with one RBI. Jordan is a contact line drive hitter that can take the ball to all fields. He has sound mechanics and does a good job with pitch selection, doing his best to find any way on. His day really helped to get the Heat offense going as they collected 11 hits in the game from 8 different players in the lineup. With the Heat offense making things difficult for the Bombers pitching staff, the Heat were able to throw a medley of different arms on the mound that kept the bombers from capitalizing too much on the hits they had in the game. Both teams will continue pool play in the BCS, and look to improve their record to try to make a push for making the playoffs later in the week.
Braves Beat the Red Sox >>
East Cobb Braves 18u come out top against the Long Island Baymen Red Sox 7-2. Getting the win for East Cobb Braves today was Josh Hagerman, a Large/Projectable frame with armside run on his FB topped out at 85 mph, ranging from 81-85 mph. Josh pitched a complete game striking out 7 giving up two hits and only 1 walk! Helping Josh get the the win were Keith Grabowski and  Chase Morris. Keith Grabowski, a patient hitter with a quick bat went 3-3 on the day with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Chase Morris went 2-3 with 3 RBI's on the day.
Warriors Top Baymen Red Sox >>
        The Long Island Baymen Red Sox and the Jacksonville Warriors faced each other in pool play on Sunday at the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers. Both teams looked like they could have come away from the game with a win, but in the end it was the warriors who came out on top with a 5-2 win. The Warriors were lead a the plate by Chandler Scantling at the plate who went 2 for 2 with a double and a triple. Scantling has good bat speed from a line drive contact swing. He brings a confident approach to the plate, and does a nice job of finding a pitch that he can drive to the gaps. Scantling also runs the bases well with good speed down the line, and solid instincts when on the bases. He was able to help spark the Warriors offense, as they put together a couple of late rallies to take control of the game and eventually come away with an important pool play win on the first day of play. The Baymen Red Sox lineup was largely held in check throughout the game, and they were not able to respond to the late runs that were scored by the Warriors. Both teams will continue in their pool play, and look to build their tournament resume in order to make a run for the playoffs.

        FTB Mizuno and the Chattanooga Cherokees went head to head in pool play of the 2011 BCS on Sunday, as FTB Mizuno came away with an 8-2 win in their first round. FTB jumped out to an early lead by scoring 7 runs in the first two innings of play, and they didn't look back from there as they held the Cherokees from making any substantial rallies. FTB Mizuno was lead at the plate by Okey, who went 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI's. He took a patient approach to the plate with a line drive contact swing. He does a good job of staying inside the ball, and can take the ball to the opposite field for hits as well. His approach at the plate with runners in scoring position is what paid off in this game for the FTB Mizuno team as he has able to send 3 runners home to help them build their lead over the Chattanooga Cherokees. 
        Dean Also went 2 for 3 for FTB, while adding a double in the game. Dean has a sound hitting approach with a line drive swing that makes the ball jump off of his bat. He makes very hard contact in his at bats, and can drive the ball with regular contact. The FTB Mizuno team alongside Dean and Okey cruised to a pool play win, hoping that it will help them advance to the playoffs later this week.

Team Citius went up against the Florida Bruisers, Citius won 10-6.  This game was unique in the fact that of the the 12 total hits, there were 4 triples and only 1 double.  Team Citius came out swinging when Mathisen, Neksony, and Taylor all had triples. Tyler Neslony was 2-2 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. He stays inside the ball well with his linedrive swing plane and confident, aggressive approach.  Wyatt Mathison also had a standout game when he went 2-3 (3B-1B-1B) with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. He has a powerful bat with gap to gap hitting results, along with his aggressive approach and run producing abilities.  
Florida Xcel Win Close Game Against 5280 >>

        5280 Baseball and the Florida Excel teams were matched up in pool play on Sunday at the BCS, with the Xcel coming away with a 2-1 victory. Both teams scored their runs early with the Florida Xcel getting both of theirs in the bottom of the 1st, and 5280 plating their run in the top of the 2nd. With the game looking like it was going to be all offense early, both teams settled in and didn't allow a run after that. Leading the way for the Xcel was Josh Howard, who helped to carry the team on the mound and at the plate. He was 1 for 2 on the day with a double, and is a contact line drive hitter that can take the ball to all fields. He has a quiet approach at the plate, and is a patient hitter that looks to find a good pitch to hit. Howard also took the mound for the Xcel in the 4th inning and pitched 4 shut out innings to close out the game, only allowing 1 hit along the way. He has good command of his pitches, and stays around the zone on both sides of the plate. He is also aggressive early with his pitches, often finding himself ahead in the count right away. His good control and changing of speeds was very effective in this game, as he secured an important pool play win for his team. Both team will continue pool play looking to improve their chances of finding themselves in the playoffs of this years BCS.

Givens-(single, double). Stephen Scott from the Florida Vipers had a good day as well when he went 2-2 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico defeated Mizuno Edge with the low score of 1-0.  Pitcher for Mizuno of Puerto Rico, Jorge Lopez, threw the first 3 innings with 6 punch-outs, 0 hits, and he threw 61% of his pitches for strikes with a FB topping at 91 mph and a CB to counter at 78 mph.  He has good command with a descent follow through and well working arm.  He shows mound presence and attacks hitters early in the count with armside run on his powerful FB.  Christian Otero, also of Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico, went 1-2 with the one and only RBI of the game, which gave them the win.  He has a balanced swing, good bat speed, and leverage in his swing.

In the first round of pool play in the 18u BCS the Dulin Dodgers were matched against Bullets Baseball; they were so evenly matched that the game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Will Jamison of the Dodgers had a good day at the plate when he went 2-3 and 1 run scored; he has a short, compact swing with an aggressive approach and lead off hitter type mentality.  His excellent bat speed and live bat mixed with his power potential make him a threat in the lineup.  Dulin Dodgers hitter, Michael Fahrman, went 2-3 at the plate.  He has a linedrive swing plane with a rotational swing.

The Citrus Bandits defeated the SEM Pirates 8-1 on day 1 of the 18u BCS.  Richard Tordsen of the Citrus Bandits went 2-2 with 2 runs scored; he has a sound hitting approach, lively bat, and is a linedrive contact hitter with confidence at the plate.  Teammate, Ty Washington, was 1-3 (double) with 4 RBI's. He has a linedrive swing plane with a good eye plus instincts, and a fluid stroke.

Next Level Baseball defeated Team Mizuno of Puerto Rico 5-1 with Tom Watson's outstanding pitching performance.  He threw 6 innings in the game, with 12 strikeouts and just 1 run allowed.  He has an above average CB with good extension out front and good command on his FB an CH.  Out of the stretch he is able to maintain his velocity with a 3/4 arm angle.  Harold Diaz of Team Mizuno was 3-3 batting with 1 run scored.

The East Cobb Cubs went up against the Florida Hardballers in the first round in the 18u BCS Perfect Game hosted tournament.  Both teams did their scoring early when they each had 6 runs by the 4th, then neither team scored again, leaving the game in a 6-6 draw.  David Kimbrough of the Hardballers was 3-2 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI; he is a very solid runner with a quick bat and lively bat. He has an aggressive approach both, at the plate, and on the bases.  Alex McGill of the East Cobb Cubs was 3-4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI's. He has a fluid stroke, has raw power, and can can hit gap to gap with some pop.  He drives the ball with regular contact, has good lower body strength and stays inside the ball well.

En Fuego Baseball defeated the Bucky Dent Royals on Sunday morning of the opening round in the 2011 18u BCS.  En Fuego's pitcher, Isaac Bradford, threw the full 7 innings with 2 earned runs, and 6 K's.  He shows good command and throws strikes consistently with a high 3/4 arm angle.  Chase Patterson also had a good day with his run scored, and 3 RBI's.

In the first round of the 2011 18u BCS, Nelson Baseball took on the Sarasota baseball Club; however this game was too evenly matched to determine an outright winner in regulation.  Mitch Massi of Nelson Baseball was 2-2 (single-triple) with 1 run scored and 2 RBI's.  He has a medium-athletic build with a balanced swing and patience a the plate with a good feel for the zone.  Brian Pietranton of Sarasota Baseball was 2-3 with 2 RBI's; he has good extension in his quick bat with gap power, and an aggressive approach at the plate.

The Ocala Heat defeated the Schaumburg Seminoles 13-1 with the help of their 10-run, 5th inning rally.  The Seminoles were shutout in the hits column Sunday, between Heat pitchers, Lee and Vandeventer.  Garrison Vandeventer also had a good day at the plate, he is an aggressive hitter with gap power, left leg tap trigger, and good lower body strength.  Teammate, Ryan Crile, was 2-3 with 2 runs scored; he is a linedrive contact hitter with medium sized, lean frame and athleticism.  
Persad & Baymen Red Sox Win In Thriller >>
        The Long Island Baymen Red Sox and Florida Baseball Academy Red played a thriller of a game on Sunday as they took it into the 7th inning still tied 0-0. It was here that the Baymen Red Sox were finally able to break the tie and move ahead by one, and then shut down the Florida Baseball Academy lineup one more time to take the win 1-0. Long Island was backed in this game by a strong performance on the mound from their starting pitcher Nick Persad who went all 7 for the Baymen allowing 0 runs and 7 hits while striking out 10 Florida Baseball Academy batters. Persad is a smart pitcher who locates his pitches well and has good command on both sides of the plate. He sets up hitters by changing speeds often, and has shown that he has the composure to pitch his way out of trouble. His command is what stood out in this start as he threw strikes at nearly 70% of his pitches, and was still able to shut out the Florida Baseball Academy Red hitters. 
        Lead off hitter Robert Dumpson show great potential in this game as well for the Long Island Baymen Red Sox as he went 1 for 3 with a triple. He has good bat speed, solid extension, lift in his swing, and does a good job of staying inside the ball. He can hit to all fields with some pop, and also showed that he has great tools on the bases as well with solid speed. Long Island and Florida kept fighting until the very end in what was one of the most exciting games so far this tournament, but in the end it was the Baymen Red Sox walking away with a pool play win.
Braves Crush Jacksonville Warriors 15-1 >>

        The East Cobb Braves poured on the runs against the Jacksonville Warriors on Sunday as they took the game by a score of 15-1. An 11 run 2nd inning set this game up for a run rule as it ended after 4 innings. The Braves offense was headlined by Jakob Nixon who belted a home run along the way to a 1 for 2 day with 4 RBI's. Nixon is an aggressive hitter with a loose strong wrist flick and a live bat. He also possesses good knowledge of base running and has become an integral part of the Braves offense so far in this tournament. Clay Ardeeser also had a good day at the plate for the Braves as he went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI's. He has a quick bat with strong wrists and good plate coverage. His confident and patient approach at the plate make him a good middle of the order run producer for the Braves, who have no problems scoring runs in bunches. The Braves look to continue their high powered attack tomorrow as pool play continues, while the Warriors try to bounce back and pick up a win to try to improve their chances of making the playoffs in this years BCS.

The East Cobb Braves took on the Jacksonville Warriors in their impressive 15-1 victory on Monday.  Michael Adkins of the Braves had a standout game when he went 3-3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. He has a strong lower half with a short, compact swing and good extension on his stroke.  Patience at the plate and a good eye for the zone make him a threat at the plate.  Clay Ardeeser was also ready to play when he went 3-4 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored.  Clay has a large, athletic frame with a confident approach and left leg trigger at the plate.  He consistently put the ball in play and is a middle of the order run producer.  
South Florida Elite Squad Slides Past Wolverines >>

        The South Florida Elite Squad scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to put themselves up by one, and to eventually walk away with a win as they shut down the Midwest Wolverines in the 7th. South Florida was lead a the plate by Kevin Knapp who went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI in the game, while reaching two more times as he was hit by a pitch twice. Knapp brings a confident approach to the plate with a line drive contact swing. He hits well to the gaps with good pop, and is willing to take a pitch for the team in order to find a way on base. Knapp also got the save in this game coming in to throw a scoreless inning, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced with an 86mph fastball and 72 mph curve ball. There were a number of other big arms in this game as well with the Wolverine's Caleb Wallingford hitting 87mph with good arm side run on his fastball plus a good knowledge of how to pitch, and the South Florida starter Natal who hit 88mph on a lively fastball that was mixed with a very good 78mph changeup. For the most part the pitchers on both side held the lineups in check, but in the end the South Florida Elite Squad was able to dig in and get the job done by scoring their late runs. Both teams will continue their first pool play on monday, looking to make a run for a potential playoff birth.
Winter Haven Notches First Win Over Bucky Dent UNC >>
        Winter Haven Post-8 Scout Team and Bucky Dent UNC played their first games of the 2011 BCS on Sunday with Winter Haven coming away with a 10-3 win. They were lead in the game by Levi and Luke Borders who put together strong days hitting back to back in the Winter Haven Lineup. Levi went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's while Luke also went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI's. They both have sound mechanics and good power potential from their line drive swings. With them hitting in the 3 and 4 spots it make it difficult for opposing pitchers to get through this part of the Winter Haven lineup without damage being done. Winter Haven's line up was firing on all cylinders in this game as they put up 13 hits coming from 8 different players in the order. They proved right out of the gate that they can all hit the ball, and shouldn't be overlooked in this tournament, where everyone is fighting for a chance at making the playoffs. Both teams will continue pool play on Monday as Winter Haven looks to rack up another win and Buck Dent UNC tries to find their stride and bounce back from a tough loss.
SWFL Tops 643 DP Cougars in Opener  >>

        SWFL and The 643 DP Cougars found themselves facing each other in their first games of the 2011 BCS tournamnet in Fort Myers Florida on Sunday. Swfl wasted no time putting up a run in the top of the first, and continued to build their win from there winning by a score of 7-1. SWFL was lead at the plate by Collin Woody who went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Woody is a contact line drive hitter that does a good job of staying inside the ball. He looks to be a spark at the bottom of the SWFL line up in order to get things rolling when the top of the order comes back around, and that's what he did in this game as he also came around to score twice.
        The cougars were headlined by Jeff Sneed who went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Sneed brings a confident approach to the plate, and can take the ball to all fields. He brings a sound approach to the plate, and brings quality at bats to the Cougars lineup. Sneed also pitched 2 scoreless innings in the game, allowing just one hit in his time on the mound. However, by the time he got on the mound it was too late for the Cougars as they weren't able to put the runs on the board to catch up to SWFL. Both teams will continue pool play on monday, looking to increase their chances of a playoff birth.
Williams and Pokers Take Down Volusia Black >>

        The Florida Pokers White and Team Volusia Black were matched up in the opening round of 2011 BCS pool play, with the pokers coming away with a 6-2 victory. The Pokers got on top early, and then were able to at a final 3 runs in the top of the 7th to solidify a win in the opening day of the tournament. The Pokers were lead at the plate by Omar Williams who went 2 for 2 in the game with a double, a triple, an RBI, and 2 walks. Williams has a power approach at the plate, with good pop to the gaps and a live bat. He is also a very patient hitter with good eyes and does a sound job with pitch selection. His patients pays off as Williams is a good base runner that can not only get out of the box quickly, but can also steal some bases when he gets on. Williams is a good run producer for the Poker offense, and has the potential to drive in a lot of runs this tournament. His skills offensively are helping drive the Pokers lineup right now, and he could be a difference maker for his team in the BCS. The Pokers and Team Volusia Black will both continue pool play tomorrow, and will look to pick up wins in order to improve their chances of making a run at the playoffs of this years tournament.
West Coast Nine Devils Cruise Past Mavs Black >>
        The West Coast Nine Devils came into this years BCS ready to roll as they were matched up against the Upstate Mavs in their opening round of pool play. The Devils opened up the flood gates starting in the third inning as they went on to score 14 runs in the game to the Mavs 3. The Devils were headlined in the game by a couple of players who had standout performances including Reggie Lindsey and Correlle Prime. Prime pitched all 7 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 7. Prime has good command and throws around the zone with all of his pitches. He has presence on the mound and knows how to pitch, setting up hitters and working fast the entire game. Prime has good life on his fast ball at 87mph and a good curveball that he uses as an out pitch. 
        While Prime was taking care of business on the mound, Reggie Lindsey was leading the pack at the plate for the West Coast Nine Devils. Lindsey went 3 for 4 in the game with a double and 3 RBIs, he has great bat speed, good plate coverage, and does a good job of staying inside the ball. He has a quiet approach at the plate, and can hit to any field with solid pop. The combo of Lindsey and Prime in this game was too much for the Upstate Mavs, but both teams will continue pool play tomorrow looking to qualify for the BCS playoffs.

        The Delco Diamonds and Bullets Baseball were matched up in their opening round of the 18u BCS, with Bullets coming away with a 3-0 win. Bullets baseball was in control the entire game, even though the runs weren't coming all that easily, thanks in part to the performance of their starting pitcher Eric Collier who threw all 7 shut out innings for the Bullets while only allowing 2 hits and recording 14 strike outs. Collier knows how to pitch, and does a good job of setting up hitters by changing speeds with an 84mph fastball and a 70 mph curveball with good depth. He has good command of all of his pitches, and like to attack the zone. His sound mechanics and good follow through help him pitch late into games, becoming a workhorse for his team. The Delco Diamonds had no answer for Collier today as they were nearly completely shut down by the Bullets Starter. Both teams will continue pool play tomorrow looking to improve their chances of making the playoffs in this years BCS.
Canes and Dodgers Can't Break Tie >>

      The Cape Coast Canes and the Dulin Dodgers faced each other in their opening games of this years BCS on Sunday in Fort Myers. The teams were very evenly matched in this game and with the Canes down by one run going into the top of the 7th, they were able to tie it up at 4-4 and then shut down the Dodgers ending the game in a tie. The Canes were lead in the game by Ryan Kennedy and Shane Gordon who put together big days at the plate. Kennedy went 3 for 4 in the game with an RBI. He is a patient hitter with good plate coverage, and is good at taking the ball to any field with solid contact. Gordon was 1 for 2 in the game with 2 RBI's, and was able to showcase a live bat with power potential and a smooth fluid stroke by belting a home run in the game.
        For the Dulin Dodgers it was the combination of Jamison, Garner, and Irving that kept them in the game. Jamison went 2 for 3 with a double, and was able to showcase his speed as a disruptive base runner as well as an outfielder that possesses great range and can cover a lot of ground. Garner was also 2 for 3 with a double and showed that he is a good contact hitter that brings a sound approach to the plate, resulting in quality at bats for his team. Irving rounds out the trio with a 1 for 3 day that included a triple and 2 RBI's. Irving has a quiet approach at the plate with good power potential generated from a strong lower half. He is a good middle of the order run producer for the Dodgers, but on this day couldn't get enough going to push them past the Canes. Both teams will look to grab their first win in their next game as pool play continues.
Mizuno Edge Crush Florida Vipers >>

        The Mizuno Edge and the Florida Vipers opened their 2011 BCS pool play head to head on Sunday in Fort Myers, with the Edge winning easily over the Vipers. The Edge went to work right away, jumping out to a 5 run lead with big 1st inning and they continued to push the pace as they put the run rule in effect after 4 with a score of 12-0. The Edge were lead by Alex Kline on the mound who pitched all 4 shut out innings allowing 0 hits while striking out 5. Kline has sound mechanics and an arm that works very well. He has good extension out front and a smooth follow through that is online. He likes to work fast and attack hitters, helped by the fact that he has an accurate arm and can throw all of his pitches for strikes. His control is the best part of his game as his ability to locate is what makes him effective, and in this game was too effective for the Vipers to even scrounge up a hit. The Edge on the other hand were having no problems in the hit department as they collected 11 of them from 8 different players. The Edge have a lineup that is deep with talent, so look out for more games like this in the tournament as they continue pool play looking to improve their chances of making a playoff birth in this years BCS.
Bruisers Take Opening Game Over HEAT >>

        The Florida Bruisers and St. Johns HEAT began pool play on sunday at the 2011 BCS in Fort Myers. The HEAT scored first with 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning but the Bruisers were quick to respond with 4 in the top of the 2nd. When all was said and done the bruisers came away with a win by the score of 5-3. The Bruisers were lead at the plate by their lead off hitter, Damiano, who went 2 for 4 with 2 singles putting a spark in the Bruisers lineup. Damiano has a patient approach at the plate, and is a line drive contact hitter that can hit the ball to all fields. Damiano also scored twice for the Bruisers, showing that he can run well on the bases with good speed. The Bruisers would tack on their final run in the top of the 7th to solidify their first all important pool play win. The Bruisers and the HEAT will continue their pool play tomorrow, and look to improve their chances of making a trip to the playoffs of the BCS with a win. Team Citius Rolls Florida Bombers >>

        Team Citius and the Florida Bombers played their opening games of the 2011 BCS, with Team Citius rolling to an easy 9-1 victory. The Bombers jumped to an early lead as they scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, but that wouldn't last long as Team Citius came back with 5 in the 3rd and then another 4 in the 5th to put it out of reach for the Bombers. Team Citius was lead a the plate by Wyatt Mathisen who went 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI. He takes a confident approach to the plate and is a solid middle of the order run producer for Team Citius. Mathisen is a line drive contact hitter, with good pop to the gaps and a strong lower half. Team Citius exploded for 10 hits in their first game, showing everyone that they came to play. They have a deep lineup full of guys that can drive the ball, and they also play sound defense to back up their pitching staff. Both teams will continue pool play as they look to start out strong and make a possible run at a playoff birth later in the week.
