The Orlando Scorpions 17U Purple squad blanked the East Cobb Astros 17U team 8-0 in round 1 of the playoffs. RHP Walker Weickel (2012, Olympia, Orlando) threw a no-hitter while demonstrating good command of an 88-91 mph fastball. He also showed effortless arm action and sound mechanics. MIF Max Moroff (2012, Trinity Prep, Maitland) impressed at the plate by going 3 for 3 and driving in 2 runs. He showed excellent bat speed and has lift in his swing. C Chris Breen (2012, Winter Springs, Winter Springs) also had a good game at the plate, showing power to all fields and good extension. He drives the ball with regular contact.

In the first round of the playoffs the All American Prospects 17U squad won a 6-1 game against the Jacksonville Warriors. RHP Jerrod Leinhauser (2011, Braden River, Sarasota) showed good command of an 80-84 mph fastball while allowing 1 run in 6 innings of work. He showed a balanced delivery and a good follow through while pitching. 2B Bret Lashley (2012, Park Vista, Lake Worth) showed a live bat and good bat speed while going 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs.

The Texas Sun Devils won a 7-1 game against the Texas Stix squad in the first round of the playoffs. LHP Matt Denny (2012, Jackson Academy, Jackson) threw a complete game for the Sun Devils and allowed only 1 run on 3 hits while showing good command of an 82-84 mph fastball. He maintained his velocity throughout the game and pitched downhill. OF Kolby Copeland (2012, Parkway, Bossier City) showed that he is a top prospect at the plate, hitting to all fields with raw power. He also demonstrated good bat speed and a fluid stroke. MIF Gavin Cecchini (2012, Barbe, Lake Charles) also impressed, driving in 2 runs and showing a fluid stroke and live bat.

RHP Weston Sims (2012, LD Bell, Hurst) impressed on the mound for the Stix. He showed good command of a 82-85 mph fastball while changing speeds to keep hitters off balance. Sims has a good follow through and pitches downhill. OF Cody Broussard (2012, Grapevine, Colleyville) impressed at the plate, staying inside the ball well to drive in the lone run for the Stix.

The Palm Beach County PAL 17U squad defeated Marucci Elite 7-2 in the first round of the playoffs today. LHP Brandon Rhodes (2012, Park Vista, Lake Worth) threw strikes with an 82-84 mph fastball in allowing 1 earned run over 5 innings. The crafty lefty showed he knows how to pitch by changing speeds to keep hitters off balance. C Robbie Coman (2012, Park Vista, Lake Worth) excelled at the dish, driving the ball with regular contact due to excellent bat speed. He drove in 2 runs and showed power potential.

RHP Jacob Waguespack (2012, Dutchtown, Prarieville) threw strikes with an 84-88 mph fastball to strike out 5 in 4 innings of work.

In the first round of the playoffs South Florida Elite Squad Black pulled out a close 6-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Warriors. LHP Andre Martinez (2012, Archbishop MaCarthy, Pembroke Pines) threw an 85-88 mph fastball while displaying loose, long arm action. He changes speeds while attacking hitters and showed a deceptive delivery. RHP Nick Travieso (2012, Archbishop MaCarthy, Pembroke Pines) showed himself to be a top prospect by striking out 4 hitters with an explosive 91-94 mph fastball. He showed effortless arm action and a smooth, online delivery.

RHP/3B Corbin Olmstead (2012, Thomas Jefferson, Tampa) impressed on the mound and at the plate. He throws strikes with an 86-89 mph fastball and demonstrated short, solid arm action with good hip rotation. At the plate he showed excellent bat speed and raw power. C James Abbatinozzi (2011, Nease, St. Augustine) had a solid day at the plate, going 2 for 3 while showing a fluid stroke and good bat speed.

RHP Peter Rantz (2012, Boca Raton, FL HS) pitched all five innings in the South Florida Elite Squad Red 9-1 win over the Long Island Whalers. Rantz toppped out at 85 and showed easy arm action and room to fill. He allowed only one hit, walking two and striking out four. OF Sly Edwards (2012, Chaminade Madonna, Miami Lakes, FL) is one of the fastest runners in the class and a very good athlete.

RHP Matt D'Ariano (2012, Iona Prep, Yonkers, NY) topped at 89 with a good 77 mph curveball and RHP Greg Welch (2012, Wantagh, NY HS) was up to 86.

Green is a long projectable player with very good athleticism and a smooth stroke from the right side that projects for power. He has good power and is committed to attend Oregon State.

Sun Devils RHP Josh Leone (2012, Calvary Baptist, Keithville, LA) topped out at 88 and RHP Taylor Butler (2012, Barbe HS, Lake Charles, LA) was up to 86 with a 75 mph slider and 75 mph changeup. LHP Sterling Wynn (2012, China Spring HS, Crawford, TX) has a smooth, online delivery, his fastball up to 89 with a 77 mph slider and 81 changeup.

South Florida Elite Squad Black RHPs Hayden Hurst (2012, Bolles School, Jacksonville, FL) and Ryan Owens (2012, West Boca, Boca Raton, FL) combined to give up just one hit as they cruised to an easy 7-1 win over Florida Hardballers 17u. Hurst struck out four in a pair of innings, while Owens struck out seven over four innings of relief. Hurst topped out at 91 is a big, strong athlete who also showed a 75 mph slider. Owens topped at 88 with a 72 mph curveball.

SF Elite Black had a great showing at the 17u WWBA and are one of the top teams in Florida. There offense was led Monday by Alexander Rodriguez (2013, Trinity Christian, Boyton Beach, FL), 2B Kevin Fagan (2012, North Broward Prep, Boca Raton, FL), and 3B Eric Neitzel (2012, Gulliver Prep, Coral Gables, FL).

Michael stuck out 6. He likes to change speeds up throwing his CB and CH for stikes a lot. South Oakland A's- Grey Eric Henderson, a athletic player who is a patient hitter with power behind it, went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and scoring 2 runs himself. Troy Smith for East Cobb Indians went 2-3 on the day. Troy is a lindrive contact hitter with some power behind him. The final score for this game was South Oakland A's-Grey-6, East Cobb Indians-2.

Music City Outlaws started the day out aganist Connecticut Heat. Music City got the win with a 8 to 2 victory. Getting the win on the mound was Jake McDougal. Jake has a large frame, solid arm action and is quick to the plate. Jake uses a slider for his out pitch and has good command on it. He topped out at 86 mph on his FB and 73-75 on his SL. Helping him score runs was Newman going 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and scoring 2 runs himself.

He struck out 11 over 6 2/3 in Marucci Elite's 4-3 win over Orlando Baseball Academy. RHP Hunter Newman (2012, Calvary Day School, Bloomingdale, GA) another LSU commit topped at 90 in his third of an inning.

The Marucci offense was lead by two Chase's, Rivett and Nyman. Rivett (2012, East Ascension HS, Gonzalez, LA) showed a quick bat with power potential and Nyman (2012, Pascagoula, MS HS) has a smooth left-handed swing with balance and good plate coverage.

He topped out at 84 and complimented his fastball with a 68 mph curve. 3B Hunter Ellenburg (2013, Fairhope, AL HS) showed good defensive actions and arm strength across the diamond and SS Beecher Faust (2013, Fairhope, AL HS) showed good bat speed and balance at the plate.

Down 3-1 the Orlando Scorpions 17u Black tallied single runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th to beat the Delaware Warriors 4-3. RHP Keith McClellan (2012, Oviedo, FL HS) threw four shutout innings for the Scorps, allowing no hits while walking three and striking out four. He topped his fastball out at 84 and showed good command of a 70 mph curveball and 75 mph changeup. RHP Nathan Kelly (2012, Lake Brantley HS, Apopka, FL) came in to throw three innings of relief, topping out at 80 with a 68 mph curveball.

The Tampa Bay Warriors beat the BLBA Houston Sox today when the Warriors shutout BLBA 9-0.  Warriors pitcher, Tommy Peterson, threw 5 full innings giving up just 2 hits, and me managed to strikeout 9 batters in the game.  Tommy has pinpoint command and changes speeds effectively to help himself set up hitters.  He competes on the mound, keeps hitters off balance, and maintains his velocity out of the stretch.  Chad Witkowski helped out Tommy by his 3-3 (single-2 doubles) day at the plate, along with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Chad is is a patient and drives the ball consistently with gap power to all fields.

SWFL was matched up against the Long Island Whalers, so evenly matched that a definitive winner was never decided as it ended in a 2-2 tie.  Pitcher for the Long Island Whalers, Tyler Manez, threw 6 full innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs. On the other hand, he had an impressive 10 strikeouts with his 86mph FB, 78 mph CH, and 72 mph CB to counter with.  He sets up hitters and keeps them off balance; he has sound mechanics with a smooth delivery and good movement on all pitches. He is efficient at controlling the opponents running game and has a good pick off move.  

From SWFL, Anthony Prohaska was 2-3 (double-double) with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  He is an aggressive hitter with gap power and a good eye for the zone with good bat speed.

        Chain Select Vs Triple Threat Baseball finished this game with a 6 to 6 tie. Chain select had couple guys have a good day at the plate. Austin Simmons, an athletic medium frame player with power behind him, went 3-4 with an RBI. Also for Chain Select was Will Bagwell. Will Has a medium frame, a live bat with gap power. Will Bagwell went 2-3 on the day with 2 RBI's and a stolen base..
        For triple Threat Baseball Cody Sharp had a perfect day at the plate going 3-3 with a walk and a run scored. Cody Sharp is a all around good player with his strong, athletic projectable frame. Cody is a quick bat with power behind it. When cody gets on base, you also have to be careful with his impact speed.

The Texas Sun Devils defeated the South Florida Elite Squad Red 6-1.  The Sun Devils, Kolby Copeland, was 3-3 with 1 run scored; he is an effective spray hitter who can drive the pitch to all fields, and has a quick bat with a linedrive swing plane.  Zach Green, also of the TX Sun Devils, was 1-2 (HR) with 1 run scored, and 2 RBI's.  He has excellent bat speed with lift in his swing, a live bat, and displays raw power.

The New York Grays were matched up against the Bucky Dent Seminoles; the NY Grays won 12-1 in 5 innings.  Harrison Bader and teammate, Richard Carthon, both had standout games worthy of notice.  Harrison Bader went 2-3 (single-triple) with 2 runs scored and he was hit by a pitch.  He's a middle of the lineup type hitter capable of putting the ball in play consistently and producing runs.  He bats with a confident approach, live bat, and drives the ball regularly.  Richard Carthon, from the NY Grays, went 3-4 (triple-single-triple) with 3 RBI's in the game.  He makes very hard contact with a quiet hitting approach, excellent bat speed, and power to all fields.  He is also an exceptional runner on the bases who is disruptive to the opponents, he moves well down the line with a good first step, and solid instincts on the base path.

Travelers Baseball's Starting pitcher Ryan Thursten Threw 6 innings striking out 9 while Team Reekbok PSA 17u White's Starter Schooley threw 4 innings also striking out nine giving up 1 hit! Ryan Thursten is a crafty lefty with armside run on his FB. Ryan likes to attack the hitters with his 1/7 CB. He Ranged from 75-81 on his FB and 64-74 on his CB. On the other side of the plate was Mallet from Team Reebok PSA 17u White having a great day at the plate. He went 2-2 with a walk and a RBI. Due to Ryan Thursten and Schooley having a great day on the mound, this game ended in 7 with a tie of 3-3.

Team Gwinnett faced the Connecticut Heat and got the win 7-4 as pitcher, Stephen Mason threw an impressive game.  He threw 6 solid innings with 7 strikeouts and only gave up 3 hits in his outing.  His FB topped out at 86 mph and his CB at 72.  Command for Stephen was spot on, he changed speeds well, showed good use of his athletic body and strong lower half. 

Troy Heterick from Team Gwinnett helped out his team when he went 2-3 with 1 run scored, and 1RBI.  Opponent, Tommy Jankowski also had a standout game with his 2-2 (double-single) and 1 run scored.

The Orlando Scorpions faced the Music City Outlaws when the Outlaws won 6-1.  Luke Czajkowski was 2-3 (single-double), and had the only RBI of the teams outing.  He is a patient hitter with a good eye for the zone and a well balanced swing.  Newman, of the Music City Dodgers, was 2-3 (single-double) with 3 RBI's, 1 run scored.  He stays inside the ball well with power potential and a knack for making consistent contact.

The Laredo Flames took on the Florida Diamond Pros 17U Gold and it was a tough fought game for both teams.  The Flames put up 4 in the top of the first for a great start when the Diamond Pros responded in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 of their own.  Each team would only score again in one inning with the Flames getting 2 in the 4th and the Diamond Pros racking up 4 in the bottom of the 5th to give them the one run lead they needed to take the lead which they held onto for the 7-6 victory.  

The Florida Diamond Pros lead off hitter, Michael Miedzianowski, came through big for his team when he hit a 3-run homer in the game.  He has a sound hitting approach, lighttower power, and hits to all fields comfortably.  Opponent, Misael Monrel, was 2-3 (single-double); he stays inside the ball well with a confident approach and raw power to the gaps.

The game between the Atlanta Academy Braves and the All American Prospects was too close to name a winner as it ended in a 2-2 tie.  Bryan Van Vranken of the All American Prospects helped his team by going 1-2 with 1 RBI, and 1 walk.  He has good bat speed with a lively bat and patience at the plate.  Marcus Mooney, also from the All American Prospects, went 2-3 batting; he has a quick bat with a scrappy, lead-off type hitter way of playing the game and sound hitting approach. He stays inside the ball well and hits with regular contact.

The East Cobb Astros won their first game of the 17u BCS tourney against the Jacksonville Warriors by a score of 6-3 with the help of pitcher, Sean McLaughlin. He threw the first 5 innings and had 7 strikeouts.  He is a polished pitcher with a high baseball IQ, solid arm action, and can set up hitters.  His FB topped at 91 mph with a CB to compliment at 76.  Jon Pryor, also of the Astros had a swell day, going 2-3 (single-double) with 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.  He has good bat speed with a balanced swing and ability to drive the ball to all fields.
