2011 WWBA 14u National Championship
14U defeated East Cobb Astros 13U in a close 2-1 game today. Pitcher Zach
Goodman for East Cobb pitched a great game in a losing effort. Goodman knows
how to pitch and displays a good fastball and curveball. His fastball displays
cutting action and his curveball is an out pitch. Goodman works fast and sets
up hitters to get outs.
The TSA-National team beat the Mid-Atlantic Canes Orange 14-1.
TSA starter Ryan Shinn pitched the complete game, giving up 3 hits and one run.
The TSA team scored 14 runs on only 4 hits by drawing 11 walks. On the
Mid-Atlantic side, Kyle Argenbright went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
Carson Kaufman helped lead the Banditos Black 14U to a close
7-6 win over the IBAHS Knights. Kaufman’s bat paved the way to the victory. He lean,
wiry, medium frame that still has room to fill. He has good bat speed with a
line drive swing plane. He drives the ball with contact. Defensively, he blocks
and moves well behind the plate.
East Cobb Braves scored a 15-1 victory over the Knoxville
Stars 14. Austin Krzeminski pitched his team to the win. He has good extension
out front and pitches downhill. He also demonstrates loose arm action and works
quickly on the mound. He has a large projectable frame.
Brandon Fite led the Charlotte Hurricanes 14U team to an 8-4
victory over the Kennesaw Rays. Fite has a small, lean, and wiry frame. He has
solid arm action and displays a quick arm. His delivery is smooth and online,
and he has a good extension out front and good follow through.
Gladiator Baseball defeated the Forsyth Outlaws 2-1 in a
close fought game. Gladiator pitcher David John Petrinsky led his team to a
victory. Petrinksy displays a plus fastball and a good curveball. He pitches
strikes with a smooth delivery. He has a medium frame with room to fill.
The Richmond Braves 2015 National defeated the New England
Ruffnecks 9-1. Richmond
starting pitcher Rick Spiers excelled. He displays quick arm and works quickly
on the mound. Spiers makes good use of his lower half and has a lean, wiry
frame. He also has a good pickoff move.
Jake Rogers’ bat helped the 6-4-3 DP Cougars to a 10-2
victory over the Diamondback Devils 14U team. Rogers has a slightly open, upright stance and
a high hand set. His large, strong frame gives him power potential. He is an
aggressive hitter who displays a confident approach at the plate.
The Palmetto Sandgnats 14U lost to the Cincinnati Astros 9-8
but had a standout performance from Bailey Mathews. Bailey has a large frame
and displays power potential. Due to this and the fact that he has an
aggressive hitting approach at the plate, he projects as a middle of the order
Jacob Wojciechowski led the Michigan Mustangs 14U to a 17-6
victory over the CBC O’s Orange.
Wojciechowski has an open stance and a good eye at the plate. The hitter
demonstrates a sound hitting approach. He has a quick and fluid stroke and
stays inside the ball well. His gap power was evident in his hitting during this
The Dunwoody Diablos won a close game against Falcon
Baseball, led by pitcher Chandler Dinsmore. Dinsmore has a smooth delivery with
good hip rotation and arm action. He flashes a 12/6 curveball and he competes
on the mound. The pitcher also displays good command and is around the plate
with all his pitches.
Pitcher David Ortego led Houston Heat White to an 8-2
victory over Hitting Factorty Warriors-Black. Ortego has a lean, wiry build. His
fastball displays cutting action and his quick arm comes over the top. He has
short arm action that works well.
The ABA Braves 14U beat TSA Regional 13-3. Brent Payne had a
fantastic game for the ABA Braves. Payne has a large, athletic, and strong
frame. He demonstrates a quiet hitting approach and has a compact, quick swing.
He also has good power potential. Chase Jones also had a good game at the
plate. Jones He is an aggressive hitter with a fluid stroke and good bat speed.
Steven Calcutt started and got the win for the Diamond Devils throwing a complete game allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Calcutt's fastball topped out at 81 mph with his curveball toping 63 hits slider topping 74 and a change-up that was 70. Calcutt is around the plate with his pitches and has a smooth online delivery. Calcutt uses a high 3/4 arm angle with a quick arm that works well.
Tyler sellers started for the Knockhouse Saints and pitched all 7 innings as well allowing 3 runs on 9 hits with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Sellers fastball topped out at 78 mph with a curveball that topped out at 65 mph. Sellers's uses a high 3/4 arm angle is around the plate with all his pitches has a loose arm action with a arm that works well and gets good extension out front.
Glenn Panter was 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI in the East Cobb Lightning's 5-4 win over the Bronx Bombers. Panter stays inside the ball well and has good bat speed. Panter also came into the final inning to earn the save for the lightning. Panter’s fastball tops out at 78 with a curveball that topped 73 and a change-up that topped out at 68. Panter competes on the mound fields his position well and keeps his fastball down in the zone.
Drew Semler helped pace the offense for the Bronx Bombers. Semler was 2-2 in the game for the bomber with 2 RBI'S.
Thomas Byelick pitched 5 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5 to earn the win today for Team Georgia. Byelick is around the plate with all his pitches has a good follow through uses an over the top arm angle, has an online delivery and hides the ball well on the mound. Byelick has a good curveball and flashes potential for a solid change-up.
Travis Blankenhorn was 2-4 in the game with an RBI and 2 stolen bases for the Canes to help pace their offense. Blankenhorn has a sound patient hitting approach and he makes solid line drive contact with the baseball. He also likes to run when he's on the bases and has good instincts on the bases.
Ryan Karstetter also helped out on offense going 2-3 with 2 runs scored 1 walk 3 RBI'S and 2 stolen bases. Karstetter has good bat speed at the plate is an aggressive hitter with a sound hitting approach. Karstetter has decent speed and has good instincts on the bases as well.
Gabe Smith got the start and the Win the TSA-National in today's game throwing 4 innings of shut out baseball on 3 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Smith's fastball topped out at 80 mph with his curveball topping out at 71 mph and a change-up that topped out at 74. Smith is around the plate with his pitches and was able to keep the Express's hitters off balance all day while starting out 9 of the 16 hitters he faced with a strike.
Alonzo Jones was 2-3 in the game for the East Cobb Titans with 3 runs scored 2 stolen bases and 3 RBI'S to lead the offense in their 10-2 victory. Jones has a sound hitting approach who drives the ball with regular contact and is a gap to gap hitter with some pop in his bat.
Conrad Broom got the start and the Win for the Titans pitching all 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 0 walks and 4 strikeouts. Broom's fastball topped out at 78 mph with his curveball topping out at 64 mph.
Stephen Polansky was 2-3 with 3 runs scored 1 RBI 1 walk and 2 triples in the Canes North 17-0 victory today. Polansky has good bat speed a fluid stroke is an aggressive hitter at the plate with a quiet confidant approach. Polansky has power potential and drives the ball with regular contact.
Jordan Mason also had a big day at the plate for the Canes going 2-3 with 2 runs scored 1 double and 3 RBI'S in the game. Mason has good bat speed with a quick bat, is a patient line drive contact hitter with power potential.
The Banditos Black won their morning game today 9-3 over the Sandy Plains Wildcats. William Hollis went 2-3 with a run scored a double an RBI and a stolen base today. Hollis has good bat speed stays inside the ball well has a confidant approach at the plate and hits to all fields.
Rhett Carroll was 1-2 in the game for the Centerfield Dawgs with a walk and a run scored. Carroll uses a slightly open stance with a narrow base and a high hand set while in the box.
Shane Tucker pitched a scoreless 1 2/3 to earn the win for the Dawgs. Tuckers struckout 3 and walked 1 while allowing 1 hit during the time he was on the mound. Tuckers fastball topped out at 83 mph with a curveball that topped out at 70. Tucker uses a high 3/4 arm angle with good command of his fastball and is around the plate with both of his pitches. Tuckers sets up hitter while on the mound has a smooth delivery and throws easy on the mound.
Ryan Fish pitched 5 innings to earn the win for Team Acceleration this morning allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 5 walks and 1 strikeout. Fish’s fastball topped out at 75 mph with a changeup that was 63 mph and a curveball that was 51 mph. Helping pace Team Acceleration on offense was Christian Howell who went 1-1 with a walk a double and 3 RBI'S.
Team All American had a couple of hitters have big days with Noah Beasley going 2-3 with a run scored an RBI and a stolen base, Luke Smeltz was 1-2 with 4 RBI'S and a triple, Shane Mallon was 2-4 with 2 runs scored 1 RBI a triple and a stolen base and Collin Liberatore 2-4 with 2 runs scored 2 RBI'S and a stolen base in the game.
Team CBC O'S Navy also had some hitters with a couple of hits as well in the game. Bailey Lewis was 2-3 in the game with a run scored and
3 RBI'S, Bo Owens was 2-2 with a run scored 2 RBI'S and a double, Brett Shapcott was 2-2 with 2 RBI'S and Michael Melvin was 2-3 with 2 runs scored 3 RBI'S and a stolen base in the game.
Tyler Stephenson was 2-2 with a walk 2 runs scored and 4 RBI'S for the East Cobb Astros in their win this morning. Stephenson has a quiet hitting approach with excellent bat speed and good plate coverage. The ball jumps off Stephenson’s bat he makes vary hard contact, with gap to gap power and a line drive swing plane. Stephenson is also a good catcher for the Astros; he handles pitchers well has a quick smooth release behind the plate and has solid defense tools.
Max Wotell also had a good game for the Astros today going 2-3 in the game with 2 runs scored 4 RBI'S and a Home Run.
Tyler Davis of the ABA Braves 14U came to play when he went 2-3 at the plate with his large frame, balanced swing, and sound hitting approach. However the team just couldn’t get opposing pitcher Josh Brown out of the game. Josh showed a large frame with room to fill. He had a bit of a stiff delivery and wraps his arm behind his body but got the job done with his sound mound presence.
In an 11 to 0 win over TSA-Regional, Tanner Hart went 2-3 showing good plate coverage, good extension, and a sound hitting approach. His gap power kept the opposition on their toes.
The Knockhouse Saints 14U team scored a 3-0 victory over the
6-4-3 DP Cougars. Saints starting pitcher Alex Adsit dominated, pitching a
complete game shut out. He has good command of his fastball and curveball and
throws strikes while changing speeds to keep hitters off balance. Adsit
competes when he takes the hill. His quick arm action works well on the mound.
The Mid-Atlantic Canes Green defeated Georgia Roadrunners
Gray 15-0 today. Connor Bawick paced their attack with 6 RBIs and also pitched
a complete game shut out. He has a large frame with room to fill out. On the
mound, Bawick pitches with a ¾ arm angle with a short arm circle in the back. At
the plate, he demonstrates a confident approach.
The East Cobb Tigers scored a 7-0 over South Chester
Express. Tigers starter Burton Dulaney led the way by pitching 5 scoreless
innings. He uses a three pitch mix (fastball, curveball, and change) to miss
bats. Dulaney’s quick arm works well on the mound and he is a polished pitcher
with projectable stuff.
Houston Heat White blanked Falcon Baseball 12-0 today. Heat
Starter Cameron Kremers pitched 3 scoreless innings. Kremers flashes an
excellent curveball and changes speeds to keep the hitters off balance. He also
pitches downhill and finishes with a good follow through.
Peyton Coker and Justin Bowers paced the SC Shockwave attack
today in their 7-4 win over the Blue Ridge Blasters. Coker and Bowers each went
2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Caleb Watkins also pitched in with 2
Austin Leonard threw a complete game for the Charlotte Megastars today earning the win. Leonard allowed one run on 4 hits with 0 walks and 10 strikeouts. Leonard's fastball topped out at 80 mph and a curveball that was 69 mph. Leonard around the plate with his pitches has a mound presence and sets up hitters on the mound. Leonard maintained his velocity throughout the game with good late break on his curveball and elevates his fastball at times.
Daniel Wilcutt got the start for the Diamond Devils and went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Wilcutt's fastball topped out at 78 mph with a curveball that topped out at 65 mph. Wilcutt uses a high 3/4 arm angle with loose arm action a balanced and online delivery.
Nicholas Butts pitched the final 4 and 2/3 innings for the Canes North to get the win. Butts's fastball topped out at 79 mph with a curveball that was 68 mph and a changeup that was 70 mph. Butts has good control of his pitches and has a good mound presence. Butts uses a 3/4 arm angle with a balanced delivery and uses his legs on the mound.
Jordan Ramey went 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored in a losing effort for the Ohio Force. Ramey has a sound confidant hitting approach; moves well down the line and has impact speed.
Ronnie Murphy was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI'S in the game for the Ohio Force. Murphy has power potential with a power approach at the plate and drives the ball with regular contact.
Braden Comeaux went 3-3 with 2 runs scored an RBI 2 doubles and 3 stolen bases to lead Gladiator to their 5-2 victory this morning. Comeaux has a short compact swing with good plate coverage and good bat speed. He also shows a sound hitting approach and drives the ball with regular contact. Comeaux also shows good impact speed and has good instincts on the bases. Comeaux also showed well in the field with good actions and lateral agility.
Ky Walker got the complete game win for the Gladiators today going 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 7. Walker has a balanced on delivery attacks hitters and throws easy. Walker uses a high 3/4 arm angle and has a good feel for his curveball. Walker’s fastball topped out at 73 mph and a curveball that topped out at 66.
Robbie Metz of Maryland Baseball Academy threw 4 shutout innings in his team’s 8-0 victory of the East Cobb Lightning. Metz's fastball topped out at 77 mph with his curveball topping 70 mph and a change-up that was also 70. Metz shows good command of his pitches on the mound with an effortless arm action and uses a 3/4 arm angle. Metz has a smooth delivery sets up hitters and was able to keep the lightning hitters of balance all day.
Landon Faulkner of the East Cobb Titans led his team to a 3-1 victory today by throwing a complete game 2 hit winner over Future Elite Baseball. Faulkner's fastball topped out at 80 mph with a change-up that topped 69 and a slider topping 68. Faulkner has good command of all his pitches and throws strikes. Faulkner uses a 3/4 arm angle, with good hip rotation, and has projectable stuff on the mound.
Michael Petrosino helped the New England Firebirds to an 8-5 victory in their morning game against the Palmetto Sandgnats. Petrosino went 3-3 in the game for the firebirds with a double 2 singles and 3 RBI'S.
Brandon Tillmon helped the Sandgnats in their losing effort. Tillmon went 2-3 in the game with 2 runs scored an RBI a double and a SOLO Home Run in the game.
The East Cobb Braves started off the tournament with an 8-4 victory against the CBC O'S Orange team this morning. Somoto Egbuna paced the Braves on offense going 4-4 on the day. Egbuna had one double with 3 singles a run scored and 2 RBI'S in the game. Egbuna shows a confidant, sound hitting approach at the plate with power potential. Egbuna also pitched an inning for the Braves topping out at 74 with his fastball, 56 on his curveball and a change-up that topped 63.
