Cyclones Earn Trip to Championship >>

The Cyclones took advantage of three Hurricanes errors to score in each of the first four innings, including a 5-run third. Ryan Valdes continued his hot hitting today, going 1-for-2 with a Run and a RBI.

The Cyclones got plenty of run support for Donny Norris, who threw a complete game to earn the win. Norris didn't need much run support in the 9-1 run rule victory, allowing one run on four hits. Norris is a strong bodied righty who overpowered with a 90 mph fastball and a good three pitch mix.

The Cyclones will take on the Tampa Bay Warriors in the championship game.

After pulling out a hard fought 4-3 win in the quarterfinals the Tampa Bay Warriors blew the doors off of the Ocala Heat 10-1 in the semifinals. The Warriors had 7 different players collect a hit while using 4 different pitchers.

Ryan Crile and Garrison Vandeventer each came through with big games to help the Ocala Heat punch their ticket to the semifinals. The Heat knocked off En Fuego Baseball 4-2.

Crile went 3-for-4 with a Run and an RBI. Vandeventer earned the win, allowing just one earned run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out 5. Vandeventer sat 82-84 with good fastball command.

Cyclones Baseball used a complete game shutout from Austin Bembnowski to move on to the semifinals with a 4-0 win over the Orlando Scorpions Underclass Purple.

Bembnowski showed good command to both sides of the plate with arm side run on his fastball. He showed good depth on his curveball and good arm speed on his changeup.

3B Joey Krebhiel went 2-for-3 with an RBI, showing good bat speed and a fluid stroke. OF Ryan Valdes was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and covered good ground in the outfield.

The St. Pete Hurricanes 18U beat FTB Pride 4-3 in an 18U Quarterfinal game this afternoon.

Justin Tedder went all 7 innings for the win. He has a quick, fluid arm stroke and the ball comes out of his hand easy. He struck out 10 batters while giving up 8 hits and 2 earned runs.

Tedder also had two hits in the game and he showed good batspeed and his swing works well.

Lance McCullers started the game on the mound and ended with a walk-off suicide squeeze RBI in the bottom of the 8th for the Tampa Bay Warriors. Robby Kalif earned the win in relief, Jon Sandfort was the hard luck loser in spite of a dominant relief outting, including pitching his way out of a bases loaded no out jam in the bottom of the 6th with a 2-2 tie.

The thrilling playoff game between the Tampa Bay Warriors and the Orlando Scorpions is headed to extra innings at 2-2. Lance McCullers and Walker Weikel each threw 4 scoreless innings to start the game.

After both starting pitchers left a scoreless game heading into the 5th inning the drama was just getting started. Each team traded a pair of runs heading into the bottom of the 6th.

The Warriors got runners on first and second with nobody out in the bottom of the 6th when the Scorpions brought in flamethrowing righty Jon Sandfort. After intentionally walking the bases loaded a failed suicide squeeze attempt for the first out, Sandfort used a strikout and a popup to left to escape the threat.

The score remains tied at 2-2 heading into the 7th.

Lance McCullers and Walker Weickel each tossed four scoreless innings before turning over the game to the bullpens. McCullers struck out five and allowed two hits, topping out at 97 mph. Weickel struck out four and allowed just one hit, topping out at 92 mph.

2012 RHP Ty Hensley (Edmond, OK) was lights out in a complete game shutout. He allowed only 3 hits and struck out 11. The big strong RHP sat 90-92 with his fastball the entire game.

Team Reebok countered with a very talented RHP in 2012 Dylan Drawdy (Riverview, FL) showed a 90 mph fastball and good slider.

Two of the tournament favorites met in the opening round of the playoffs as Chet Lemon's Juice #1 seed took on the Orlando Scorpions Purple 17U purple team who was able to land the only wild card spot in the tournament. The Scorpions got a great performance out of 2012 RHP Shane Crouse (Ocoee, FL, West Orange HS) who gave them six shutout innings allowing only one hit while striking out 4 batters. His fastball topped out at 90 mph. 2012 Carson Fulmer came in to pick up the save and his fastball once again was up to 94 mph multiple times to close out the victory for the Scorpions.

2012 RHP Trey Oest gave the Juice 5 good innings in relief not allowing an earned run and only 2 hits with his fastball running up to 89 mph today after throwing 90 mph yesterday.

The Florida Pokers 18u knocked off Bullets baseball in their final pool play game. JT Trujillo (Jupiter, FL, Palm Beach Gardens HS) threw 6 innings allowing only one run on three hits with 8 punchouts. His fastball touched 86 mph. 2012 LHP Troy Massaro (Davie, FL, Nova HS) closed out the game working 86-88 mph with his fastball.

 Three 2013 pitchers all from Tampa Jesuit High School were dominant in East Coast Grays Tampa Scout Team's 3-0 win. RHP Jordan Parnell got the start and threw three  no hit innings striking out 3. His fastball was sat in the high 80's and topped out at 91 mph. LHP John Kilichowski came in next for three dominant innings not allowing a hit and striking out six. He was up to 88 on the gun with his fastball. RHP Spencer Trayner closed out the last inning striking out 2 batters and sitting 88-90 mph with his fastball.

2012 LHP Anthony Seise (Altamonte Springs, FL, West Orange HS) made a big splash in his game today as the 6'2 lefty was up to 91 mph with his fastball with life. He also showed a good slider and a nice change. One to put on your follow list for 2012.

2012 RHP Trent Roberts (Altamonte Springs, FL, Aucilla HS) touched 88 in while striking out 5 in 2 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Four Orlando Scorpions Underclass Purple pitchers combined to shutout the Nava Prospects. All four of the young hurlers were in the mid 80's. They were 2013 Robbie Barrett (Orlando, FL, Dr. Phillips HS) 85 mph, 2014 Patrick Stephens (Altamonte Springs, FL, University HS) 86 mph, 2013 Blake Crowell (Montverde, FL, East Ridge HS) 85 mph and Richard Lacell (Fort Myers, FL, Cypress Lake HS) 84 mph.

2013 RHP Derik Capitillo (Land O'Lakes, FL) is an interesting young arm to watch closely as he threw 4 innings four the NAVA Prospects and his fastball topped out at 89 mph.

2011 RHP Fabian Bohorquez (Land O'Lakes, FL) showed a good fastball with multiple 91 mph's showing up on the gun.

2013 Jake Mielock (Land O'Lakes,FL) was the final pitcher for NAVA and topped at 84mph.

FTB Pride is headed to the playoffs after a 5-3 win over SWFL Underclass. Edwin Gabriel Rios (Kissimmee, FL, Oceola HS) led the way going 2-3.
SWFL Underclass threw a couple of interesting pitchers in the loss including 2014 Jeffrey Passantino (Cape Coral, FL, Bishop Verot HS). His arm worked well and his fastball was up to 86 mph and he also showed a nice curveball.

2012 Matt Pearce (Bonita Springs, FL, Estero HS) was up 87 mph for SWFL and struck out 5 batters in 4 innings.

2012 Corbin Olmstead (Tampa, FL, Jefferson HS) pitched six strong innings allowing only 2 runs and striking out six to lead the Tampa Bay Warriors into the playoffs. He threw a heavy fastball that was up to 90 mph and his breaking ball was very effective. He has also yet to get out in the tournament going a perfect 6-6 in pool play.

CFBL made a late charge but 2012 Ty Hensley (Edmond, OK, Sante Fe HS) came in to retire the final batter and showed off a a fastball that was gunned at 89, 90 and 92 mph the three times he threw it to the one batter he faced.

2013 Scott Moss (Deltona, FL, Deland HS) is a very interesting LHP who shut out the talented Warrior lineup for the final 3 1/3 innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 8. The 6'4 LHP projects very well with a loose easy arm action and his fastball was up to 86 mph today.

2013 Ryan Larson (Orlando, FL) went 2-3 with a double as well and is another one to add to your follow list.

2013 Ben DeLuzio (Windermere, FL) knocked in the winning run with single in the bottom of the 7th and is a projectable athlete to watch.

2013 RHP Cody Crouse (Valrico, FL) started for the Scorpions and is a very interesting 6'5 pitcher who sat at 85mph with more to come. He struck out 5 in 4 IP. 2013 RHP Blake Crowell (Montverde, FL) was also up to 85 mph.

2012 RHP David Itterly (Alva, FL) threw a nice game for the Florida Vipers throwing a complete game giving up only one run. His fastball topped at 84 mph.

The Tampa Bay Warriors have a very talented squad in Fort Myers this week with many top prospects.

2012 OF Austin Wilson(Valrico, FL, Bloomingdale HS) is an interesting athlete with a nice swing and knocked out 3 hits including a triple from the leadoff spot.

Florida committ Avery Romero (St. Augustine, FL) was next and is an outstanding all around player and continued to show it going 2-3 today.

Current #1 ranked player in the 2012 class Lance McCullers (Tampa, FL, Jesuit HS) showed his hitting today with an RBI single and he also stole 2 bases.

2012 RHP Dylan Drawdy (Riverview, FL, Riverview HS) came on in relief and came right at hitters with a fastball that topped out at 90 mph. 2012 RHP Jose Mesa Jr (Pembroke Pines, FL, Flanagan HS) threw the last inning and was mostly 87 mph with his fastball. He also had a double and 3 RBI.

The East Coast Grays have several players promising players in their lineup. Here are a few of them that stood out on the first day of action.

2013 Jordan Parnell (Tampa, FL, Jesuit HS) showed very well as the big athletic outfielder has a good arm and it played in the game as threw out a runner on the bases and showed a nice fluid stroke with good balance and is definitely one to watch in the 2013 class.

2012 OF Vincent Leto (Tampa, FL Jesuit HS) he knocked out 2 doubles from the leadoff spot for the Grays with a fluid stroke and a quick bat.

2014 MIF Blake Wiggins (Little Rock, AR, Pulasky HS) showed a nice stroke with a pair of hits and is a young bat to follow.

2013 Spencer Trayner (Tampa, FL, Jesuit HS) is an interesting 2-way prospect and showed it with the bat today with 2 hits.

2011 RHP Dakota Freese (Cedar Rapids, IA) picked up the win in the opening game for East Coast Grays Tampa Scout Team in their opening game of the Memorial Day Classic. He was effectively wild in a complete game showing a very good fastball that topped at 91 mph and he maintained high 80's velocity the entire game. He also showed a sharp curveball and struck out four batters in the 5 inning game.
