Trevor Story (2011, Irving High School, Irving, TX) hit a 3-run Home Run to power the Dallas Patriots to a 6-4 victory in the championship game over the Houston Banditos.

Ryan McCarthy (2011, Plano Senior, Plano, TX) came on in relief for the Patriots and got the win going 4 2/3 innings allowing 0 runs, on 2 hits, and striking out 7, while walking 1. McCarthy topped out at 87 on his fastball while sitting at 84-86 with a curveball that was 72-75 and a change-up at 74-75. McCarthy has a 3/4 arm slot, uses his body well, he has the same arm speed on his change-up as his fastball, and has good command of his pitches.

Greg Milhorn (2011, Arkansas High School, Texarkana, TX) topped out at 89mpg on his fastball today for the Patriots. Milhorn's fastball was consistently at 86-88 with a curveball that was 68-71, and a change at 78. Milhorn has good arm speed, a loose arm, 3/4 arm slot and tight spin on his curveball.

RHP Sam Moore relieved Pena and gave up a leadoff double to Trevor Story, he moved up to third on a dropped flyball in RF and scored on a groundout by Patrick McLendon.

Ryan McCarthy put the Banditos down 1-2-3 to clinch the Championship for the Patriots.

Dallas Patriots tacked on an insurance run as Tyler Provence blooped a single over 1B Courtney Hawkins head to lead off the inning, moved to 2nd on Ryan McCarthy's groundout, up to 3rd on a passed ball and scored on a IF single that Nick Petersen squirted past the mound in between 1st and 2nd base.  Pena hit both Tony Hong and Matthew Kaskow with pitches to load the bases, but Nick Bullington flew out to left field to end the inning.

Ryan McCarthy rolled thru the heart of the Banditos order, striking out Nick Williams, Austin Dean, and getting Chris McFarland to ground out to 3rd base.

The Dallas Patriots fought back, plating 5 runs to take a one run lead in their half of the 5th.

Coker hit Ryan McCarthy to lead off the inning, and he moved up a base on Kevin Terry's single. A Nick Petersen sacrifice bunt put them on 2nd and 3rd. Tony Hong drove them both home with a seeing-eye single between 3B and SS to pull the Patriots to within 2 runs. Coker was replace by RHP Fernando Pena, who retired Matthew Kaskow on the first pitch for the 2nd out. Nick Bullington continued his hot hitting ripping a single to center field, setting the stage for Trevor Story.

Story drove a Pena fastball to deep left for a 3-run homerun, giving the Patriots momentum and a 5-4 lead. Pena next walked Jeffrey Stovall, but retired Patrick McClendon on a pop-up to escape further damage.

Courtney Hawkins ripped a 2B to CF to lead off the inning for the Banditos, but was stranded as Eric Fuller, Ryne Birk, and Jordan Lee went down in order.

Tyler Coker quickly retired the Patriots on 3 groundballs in the 4th inning, including making a nice play on a hard hit ball back to the mound to end the inning.

In the Banditos half, Alex Dunlap walked with one out, but P Ryan McCarthy got 3B Dustin Theiss to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to retire the side.

Nick Bullington had a 2-out single and moved up to 2nd on an errant pick-off throw, but Coker was able to get Trevor Story to fly out to deep left field to hold the Patriots scoreless in the top half of the 3rd.

The Banditos came back with 3 runs to cushion their lead. After Courtney Hawkins flew out to right, Milhorn walked Eric Fuller, who moved to 2nd on a wild pitch, and hit Ryne Birk with a pitch. LF Jordan Lee hit a soft double to left-center field that scored Fuller and moved Birk to 3rd.

Milhorn was lifted for RHP Ryan McCarthy who was greeted by CF Nick Williams. He ripped a screaming line drive that caromed off 1B Tyler Provence's leg and went into CF. Birk and Lee scored on the RBI single. Austin Dean followed with a long flyout to CF, and Chris McFarland grounded out to end the inning.

Tyler Coker worked around a leadoff walk to hold the Patriots scoreless in the 2nd.

With Patrick McLendon on first after a walk, Banditos SS Chris McFarland made a nice play in the hole, fielding a Tyler Provence groundball and throwing to second to force McClendon out. After a Ryan McCarthy bunt single Coker got a Kevin Terry to popout, and Nick Peterson to ground out to second base to end the inning.

Greg Milhorn worked a clean bottom half for the Patriots, retiring Tyler Coker, Alex Dunlap, and Dustin Theiss in order.

In the Championship Game of the 2010 South Qualifier the Dallas Patriots are taking on the Houston Banditos Black.

Tyler Coker got the start for the Banditos walking 2 in the first inning before a caught stealing at third base and a popup got him out of the inning.

The Banditos put together a couple of hits to score the first run of the game off Patriots starter Greg Milhorn, with Jordan Lee lining a clean single up the middle and Austin Dean following 2 batters later with a trip over the CF's head to score Lee.

Milhorn induced a groundout by Chris McFarland to get out of the inning.

Bullington Story lead Patriots to Championship >>
Nick Bullington (2011, Rockwell Heath High School, Rockwell, TX) was 2-3 with a double, triple and 2 runs scored to help lead the Dallas Patriots to a 7-1 victory in the 2nd Semi Final game today. Bullington goes with the pitch well at the plate, and is aggressive on the bases.

Trevor Story (2011, Irving High School, Irving, TX) went 3-3 with 3 doubles in the game to help out. Story has loose quick hands at the plate, has pop in his bat, and turned on an inside pitch for one of his doubles.

Jeff Stovall (2011, Irving High School, Irving, TX) pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and no walks. Stovall topped out at 86mph on his fastball with a 71-73 curveball, and a 71 change-up. Stovall has good arm speed, an effortless motion, tight spin on his 11-5 curveball, and has smooth mechanics.

Art Vidro (2012, Orange Lutheran High School, Santa Ana, CA) went 5 1/3 innings allowing one run on four hits, while striking out three to earn the 2-1 victory for the Houston Banditos. Vidro topped out at 85mph on his fastball with a 70 curveball and a 78 change-up. Vidro has an athletic build, uses a 3/4 arm slot, and has a quick arm. He has a tight sweeping curveball that is 2-8, and he throws downhill.

Austin Dean (2012, Klein Collins High School, TX) was 2-3 in the game to lead the Banditos offensively. Dean had a run scoring double in the first and later scored, on a double steal. One of Dean's hits was registered at 95mph off the bat.

Nick Williams (2012, Galveston Ball High School, Galveston, TX) was 1-3 with a run scored, and a stolen base. His single in the first inning was registered at 100mph off the bat. Williams is a good athletic, and he continues to show why he is one of if not the top position player in the 2012 class.

Chris Rivera (2013, El Dorado High School, Placentia, CA) came on to close the game for the Banditos. Rivera topped out at 86mph during the game while sitting at 84-85 with a curveball that was 70mph. Rivera has a fast loose arm, hides the ball well, with a deceptive curveball that is 11-5.

Wyatt Mathison (2012, Calallen High School, Corpus Christi, TX) started the game for the Action Panthers and topped out at 87 while sitting at 82-86 on his fastball with a 75-77 slider, and a 74 change. Mathisen has an athletic build, quick arm, and uses a 3/4 arm slot. He has a long loose arm action, with some arm side run on his fastball, and he likes to work the outer half.

Chase Hodson (2011, Ft. Bend Travis, Richmond, TX) started for the South Texas Sliders and topped out at 87 as well. Hodson sat at 81-86 on his fastball, with a 68-72 curveball. Hodson has a long iron mike arm action, quick arm, and is a power pitcher. His curveball is a 12-6 with tight spin, and knows how to pitch.

Eric Guittierez (2011, Sherryland, TX) was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 1 triple, and 2RBI'S. Guitttierez has a quick bat, and a good ability to go the other way at the plate.

Texas Twins rallied for 2 runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to earn an 8-3 victory over Houston Banditos Houston in consolation action Sunday afternoon. Zac Vasek (2012, Lamar Consolidated HS, Rosenberg, TX) had 2 RBI and CJ Cantu (2011, Lamar Consolidated HS, Rosenberg, TX) scored 2 runs and had an RBI triple to lead the offense. RHP Zach Wilson (2013, Katy HS, Katy, TX) pitched 3 innings earning the win. He topped out at 80 and also showed a 68 mph curveball. RHP Robert McArthur (2012, Foster HS, Richmond, TX) and RHP Colby McDade (2011, Foster HS, Richmond, TX) each piched 2 innings as well combining to allow an unearned run. McArthur topped at 84 and McDade topped out at 81.

Ishmael Edwards (2013, Tomball HS, Tomball, TX) went 2-2 with a run and a RBI, showing an athletic frame and a quick bat that produced 2 line drive hits. RHPs Zach Jacobs (2011, Brenham HS, Brenham, TX) and Mike Gomez combined for 6 innings allowing one earned run. Jacobs topped at 80 with his fastball while Gomez topped at 83.
E-Train Comes From Behind for 4-3 Victory >>

A 4-run top of the 6th inning led Cookies E-Train to a 4-3 victory over Texas Twins Navy in consolation play Sunday afternoon. 4 straight hits in the with 2 outs gave Cookies the win with SS Mac James, C Gilbert Garza, DH Joe Garza, and CF Jacob Cantu picked up the RBI and RHP Aaron Martinets earned the win, throwing 4 scoreless frames allowing only 2 hits. Martinets topped at 78 with his fastball, also showing a 61 mph curveball and 66 mph changeup. Armando Salas started the game allowing 3 hits and 3 earned runs. His fastball was 71-73 toppinga t 73 and his changeup was 68 mph.

Texas Twins got RBI from Ray Schmaus (2012, Foster HS, Richmond, TX) and Travis Wiley (2013, Katy HS, Katy, TX), and RHP Robert McArthur (2012, Foster HS, Richmond, TX) pitched 3 innings, walking one and striking out 6 batters. His fastball topped out at 84. He has a athletic build and has quickness in his arm.

LHP Jacob Morrison (2012, Forney HS, Forney, TX) pitched 6 innings allowing 4 hits and an earned run, striking out 6 to lead Dallas Patriots 17U to a 7-2 victory over Cookies E-Train. Morrison topped at 76 with his fastball, also throwing a slider at 64 mph, and a changeup at 65. He worked quickly and repeated his delivery well. His fastball showed some late life and his slurvy slider had solid break.

2B Toran Tillotson (2012, Plano West, Plano, TX) had a run, hit, and 2 RBI, and C Chris Cisneros (2012, Jesuit College Prep, Dallas, TX) also had 2 hits for the Patriots offense.

LHP Austin Decker threw a complete game for Cookies E-Train topping at 81 with his fastball and 69 with his curveball.

Arlington A's scored 4 runs in the first and added on in every inning to earn a 10-2 victory over Mavericks 18U. SS DJ Roberts (2012, Decauter HS, Decauter, TX) went 3-3 with an RBI to lead the offense. He has a projectable, athletic build and showed a smooth swing with bat speed. LF Hunter Ladd (2012, Southwest Christian, Fort Worth, TX), DH Seth Henry (2012, Arlington Martin HS, Arlington, TX), and EH Nick Hendrix (2012, Arlington Martin HS, Arlington, TX) all added RBI to pace the attack. Collin Day (2012, Arlington Martin HS, Arlington, TX) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, as well.

RHP Troy Ward (2012, Richland HS, North Richland Hills, TX) earned the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing only 2 hits and one earned run. He topped out at 84 with his fastball, complimenting it with a 74 mph slider, and flashing a 65 mph curveball and 74 mph changeup. LHP Brandon McMillion (2012, Red Oak HS, Red Oak, TX) pitched the final 2 innings for the A's, allowing one baserunner and topping at 78 with his fastball.

LHP Earl Hart topped out at 76 with his fastball pitching 3 innings for Mavericks, while RHPs Edgar Villamil and Joey Hernandez combined for 1 1/3 innings topping out at 78 and 75 respectively. Hart and 1B Mike McCall had the only 2 hits for Mavericks.
CenTex Knocks Off Columbia Angels 8-4 >>
After losing in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday, the CenTex Prospectsfinished strong with a pair of Wins Sunday. Closing out their run atthe 2010 WWBA South Qualifier with an 8-4 victory over a very strongColumbia Angels Red squad.

The first 7 Prospects hitters to come to the plate in the top of thefirst reached base as they jumped out to a 5 run lead that proved to beinsurmountable. That was easily enough offense for MIF/RHP Kole Karol(2012) who was sharp in his 3 inning shutout, allowing just 2 hits anda walk while striking out 3 against a very strong lineup. Karol hasshown well at the plate and in the infield all tournament (also went1-for-2, R, RBI in this one), he also looked good on the mound in hisstart. With a Fastball that was 82-86, a solid 12-6 Curveball at 73 anda very good 76 MPH Changeup Karol showed that he can also be effectiveat the next level on the mound.

The Columbia Angels Red featured a stacked lineup, highlighted by 1B Dillon Thomas (2011), EH Cole Conferd, DH Carter Burgess (2011), CF Keegan Sanford (2011) and C Jacob Campbell(2012). Confered went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and scored a run,showing a fluid swing generating easy bat speed. Sanford is built likea pro ball player already, runs well, plays good defense in CF andshowed good hitting tools at the plate, going 1-for-3 today. Campbellwent 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and drove a ball up the middle that registeredat 91 MPH off the bat. Thomas showed quick hands and was clocked at4.47 from home to first and was 1-for-3 on the day. Burgess went0-for-3 but showed perhaps the best bat speed of the bunch, with a loudfly ball to CF that hung in the air for 6.13 seconds and likely wouldhave been a Home Run were it not for a strong wind blowing in.
Brazos Valley Rallies With Big Inning >>
Brazos Valley Pride White narrowly missed winning Pool C after dropping one to an absolutely loaded Houston Banditos Black team this morning, but they left with their pride intact after coming from behind with a 5 run 6th to avoid dropping their final game at the 2010 WWBA South Qualifier.

3B Autra Maxey (2012) got on with an RBI single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th to extend the game and nearly scored the game winner but was thrown out on a play at the plate trying to score from first on a double by LHP Kenneth Robertson (2014). It took a strong relay throw from the Southeast Texas Gladiators to escape defeat and salvage a 6-6 tie. Robertson pitched 4 scorelesss frames, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 4.

The Gladiators got a strong performance at the plate from Zach Smith who went 2-for-4 with a 3-run Double. LF Dane Steinhagen (2012) and C Charles Guillory (2013) each crushed balls hard that registered 87 and 86 MPH off the bat respectively. MIF/RHP Trent Fontenot (2012) pitched for the second time today, and was up to 85 MPH with his Fastball.

2011 OF/RHP Michael Reed wowed scouts with his two-way ability Sunday, as he continued his hot hitting for the CenTex Prospects at the 2010 WWBA South Qualfier while also turning in a very strong start on the mound.

Reed dominated the first four innings, allowing just two hits and a walk before the Gladiators finally got to him a little with 2 runs in the 5th as he started to tire a bit. Reed's Fastball sat between 84 and 88 MPH and mixed in a plus 78 MPH Changeup and a sharp 78 MPH Curveball. Hiding the ball well and throwing from a sharp downhill plane makes it very tough on hitters to pick up the ball out of Reed's hand and he showed good command of the Fastball, while maintaining his arm speed on the Changeup, which falls off the table. Reed also went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate, making hard contact in each trip to the plate. Reed earned the win, 2012 LHP Jake Valadez earned the Save with 2 perfect innings in relief.

Offensively 2B Ruben Miller had a strong showing, going 2-for-3 with 2 Runs and 2 Stolen Bases, showing off his speed being timed at 4.09 seconds from home to first on a bunt single in the 6th and quick defensive actions.
Nick Williams, Banditos Black Cruise Into Playoffs >>
The Houston Banditos Black opened with a strong 2-0 opening day on Saturday but still found themselves needing a win Sunday morning against Brazos Valley Pride White to clinch a victory in Pool C. With the stakes high the Banditos answered with a dominant performance en route to a 9-0 victory.

Starter Rex Hill (2012) cruised through 3 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out 5 before turning it over to righty Tyler Coker (2011). Hill, a southpaw throws with a long loose arm action from a low 3/4 slot with a Fastball with nice tailing action that sat between 81 and 84 MPH today and projects to increase. Hill also showed a very solid 73 MPH Changeup with good fading action and similar arm speed. Coker, a primary OF with good arm strength reached 87 MPH with his Fastball from an over the top arm slot and a sharp downhill plane. Coker faced 1 over the minimum walking just one while striking out 5 of the 8 batters he faced to earn the Win in relief while also driving in a run in the 6th.

Offensively, the Banditos hit parade was led by OF Nick Williams (2012). Williams went 3-for-3 with 3 Runs, a Triple and a Stolen Base. Williams, currently the #2 ranked player in the 2012 class showed off his speed on the bases with aggressive baserunning in addition to his exceptional bat speed and power, driving a triple of the CF's head that registered at 96 MPH off the bat. SS CJ Hinojosa (2012) also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a Double and 3 RBIs and drove a ball that was clocked at 95 MPH off the bat.

The Banditos will face a strong Dallas Yankees squad in the first round of the playoffs this afternoon.

Jordan Lee (2011, Cypress Creek High School, Houston, TX) hit a 2-run pinch hit Home Run to help lead the Houston Banditos to a 4-0 victory.

C.J. Hinojosa (2012, Kline Collins High School, Spring, TX) went 3-3 in the game with 2 doubles and an RBI. Hinojosa has good bat speed, a smooth swing, and a quick release on relays from the outfield.

Sam Moore (2011, Palos Verdes, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) pitched a complete game allowing one run on 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. Moore's fastball topped out at 85 while sitting at 80-84 with a curveball that was 71-74. Moore has good movement on his pitches, fields his position well, and has good stamina. Moore's curveball has good tight spin, with some late break and he commands it well.

Matt Sinclair (2011, Cy-Creek High School, Spring, TX) hit a solo Home Run in the first inning to give the Houston Raiders White a lead they would never give up. Sinclair has good bat speed, gets good extension, and his Home Run was a line drive over the fence.

Matt Roberts (2011) pitched a complete game one-hitter for the Brazos Valley Renegades Maroon in their 2-0 win today in the quarterfinals. Roberts uses a high 3/4 arm slot, with a loose easy arm action. Roberts has good balance, good leg drive, good command, and a good feel for his 11-5 curveball.

John Curtiss (2011, Carroll High School, Southlake, TX) fastball was sitting at 87-89 and topped out at 91 with a 70-73 curveball. Curtiss has a lean athletic build, with a high 3/4 arm slot. Curtiss also showed a power curve which was 78mph and is a plus pitch.

Nick Bullington (2011, Richland High School, Ft. Worth, TX) was 2-2 for the Patriots, with a double. Bullington has quick feet behind the plate, quick transfer, and popped a 1.95. At the plate Bullington has good bat speed, and good speed down the line.

Nathan Garza (2011, Atascosita High School, Houston, TX) topped the gun out at 86mph on his fastball with a range of 81-85, and a slider at 75-76. Garza has a solid build, good balance on the mound, high 3/4 arm slot, good arm speed, and has good command of the zone.

DH Seth Henry (2012, Arlington Martin HS, Arlington, TX) paced the A's offensive attack with 2 RBI including a RBI triple in the 5th inning.
