Marucci Elite take title >>
Marietta, Ga. — In a battle of the brands, the Marucci Elite edged Team Rawlings-Texas Boom, 4-3, Sunday afternoon to take the Perfect Game/East Cobb Invitational tournament title.

Down 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Marucci scored two runs to take the 4-3 lead. RHP Russell Reynolds took to the mound in the top of the seventh to close out the victory, allowing just one hit and striking out one. Reynolds topped out at 88 mph.

Marucci right fielder Jordan Ebert won the tournament MVP award after a stellar tourney in which he went 4-for-4 in one game and hit a walk-off home run in another. In the championship, Ebert went 1-for-3 with a single.

Marietta, Ga. — Jordan Ebert (2012 Baldwin County HS, Ala.) went 4-for-4 with a single, three doubles, and three stolen bases Sunday morning in a 8-3 win for Marucci Elite over the 643 DP Cougars.

Marucci plays Team Rawlings-Texas Boom for the championship title on field No. 2 at the East Cobb Complex.
Homers, arms highlight quarterfinal >>
Marietta, Ga. — Dallas Tigers-Ingram first baseman Jay Gonzales (2012 Argyle HS, Texas) and 643 first baseman Jamie Thaggard (2012 Etowah HS, Ga.) both homered in 643's 6-4 quarterfinal win at Dominion Christian High School Saturday night.

Gonzales went 2-for-3 with a single and a lead-off home run, showing a good swing and good pop. Thaggard went 2-for-2 also with a single and a solo homer.

Meanwhile, Dallas Tigers RHP Jake Thompson (2012 Heath HS, Texas) and RHP Brett Byrum (2012 Rowlett HS, Texas) both topped out at 85. Thompson showed good arm speed on his 75-mph change-up and run on his fastball. Byrum located well and had good off-speed stuff.
Underwood touches 92 in loss >>
Marietta, Ga. — East Cobb Titans RHP Duane Underwood (2012 McEachem HS, Ga.) topped out at 92 mph and sat between 88-90 in a 5-1 loss to the South Charlotte Panthers at Pope High School.

Through 4 1/3 innings, Underwood allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out four. He also showed confidence in his stuff and had some unlucky breaks, according to his scout notes.

Meanwhile South Charlotte RHP Nathan Helvey (2012 Fort Mill HS, S.C.) touched 86 in the win, allowing one run on seven hits through six innings. Helvey "locates his pitches" and "has fun on the mound."

Marietta, Ga. — Florida Flash RHP Nicholas Gordon (2014 Olympia HS, Fla.) touched 84 mph Saturday afternoon in a 5-1 win over the WCB Cardinals at the East Cobb Complex.

Gordon allowed one run on two hits and struck out three in five innings. He sat between 80-83 and showed a "long, whip-like arm action." His curveball sat between 66-70.

Flash shortstop Cutter Dylas (2014, Fla.) showed good power for his 6-0, 150-pound frame, going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Dylas also battled well and had quick bat speed.

Marietta, Ga. — Marucci Elite center fielder Jordan Ebert (2012 Baldwin County HS, Ala.) showcased his strength and bat speed Saturday afternoon in a 9-7 win over the BL Bombers at the East Cobb Complex.

Ebert, a 6-0, 175-pound outfielder and middle infielder, went 2-for-3 with a triple and a grand slam.
ABA Braves rout EC Rays >>
Marietta, Ga. — RHP Douglas Nobles (2012 Baconton Carter HS, Ga.) led the ABA Braves to a 11-1 win over the East Cobb Rays Saturday morning at the East Cobb Complex.

Nobles topped out at 86 mph and allowed one run on three hits through five innings. He also struck out four and showed little effort in his delivery, according to his scout notes.

First baseman Tanner Case (2012 Woodward Academy, Ga.) went 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles and showed a "nice, compact swing" and "solid contact."
Treager touches 86 >>
Marietta, Ga. — Team Rawlings - Texas Boom RHP Colin Treager (2012 Marcus HS, Texas) topped out at 86 mph Friday night in a 9-4 win over the South Carlotte Panthers at Kell High School.

Through five innings, Treager allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out six. According to his scout notes, he showed good arm strength and a 12-6, 72-mph curve.

Third baseman Cody Gunter (2012 Flower Mound HS, Texas) also impressed, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three straight singles. At 6-3, 180 pounds, he has a projectable build. He also showed good bat speed, good speed for his size, and a strong arm on the field.

Marietta, Ga. — Dallas Tigers RHP Brett Byrum (2012 Rowlett HS, Texas) topped out at 87 mph and sat between 84-85 in a 4-3 win over 643 Friday night at the East Cobb Complex.

Third baseman Jay Gonzales (2012 Argyle HS, Texas) led the Tigers' offensively, going 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Right fielder Ryan Romo (2013 Highland Park HS, Texas) also went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
McCrum, Jones combine for shutout >>
Marietta, Ga. — RHP Zach McCrum (2013 South Forsyth HS, Ga.) and LHP Connor Jones (2012 Enka HS, Ga.) combined for a two-hit shutout Friday morning at Walton High School.

McCrum topped out at 81 mph and allowed one hit and struck out eight in five innings. According to his scouting notes, McCrum has solid mechanics, very good movement on his fastball, locates well, and has good command.

Jones pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out five. He also had good movement on his fastball and flashed a nasty slider.
Bunting hits 85 >>
Marietta, Ga. — East Cobb Astros RHP Morgan Bunting (2012 Woodward Academy, Ga.) topped out at 85 mph and sat between 83-84 Friday afternoon against the Palm Beach Stix at the East Cobb Complex.

Bunting allowed three runs on six hits and struck out four through seven innings. He showed a live arm and late break on his curve, according to his scout notes.

Marietta, Ga. — Griffin Davis (2012 Marist HS, Ga.) went 3-for-3 to help the East Cobb Rangers to a 11-3 win against the Homeplate Chilidawgs Friday afternoon.

Davis homered, doubles, and singled, just missing the cycle by a triple. At 5-9, 175 pounds, he possesses an "athletic, projectable body" and "potential power," according to his scout notes.

Jonathan Pryor (2013 Woodward Academy, Ga.) also hit well, showing "great hands through the zone" in his 3-for-3 effort. Pryor tallied a double and a pair of singles.

Lefty Ben Jernigan (2012 Woodward Academy, Ga.) went 2-for-2 with a single and a two-RBI double before being substituted for in the fourth, showing a "smooth swing" and "patience" at the plate.
Koerner hits 87 >>
 Marietta, Ga. — South Charlotte Panthers RHP Brody Kroerner (2012 JM Robinson HS, N.C.) topped out at 87 mph Friday afternoon in a 8-0 win against the Jacksonville Warriors at the East Cobb Complex. His 75-mph curve also flashed some break.

Showing fearlessness on the mound, Kroerner allowed just two hits and struck out 10 through five innings.

Meanwhile, South Charlotte designated hitter Chris Jones (2012 Enka HS, N.C.) and shortstop Payden Honeycutt (2012 Weddington HS, N.C.) went 2-for-2 at the plate. Jones tallied a pair of doubles, and Honeycutt hit two singles.

According to his scout notes, Jones has a projectable build and power potential. Honeycutt showed wheels on the base paths and good base running instincts.
Underwood hits 89 >>
Marietta, Ga. — East Cobb Titans RHP Duane Underwood (2012 McEachem HS, Ga.) topped out at 89 mph Friday afternoon against Team Rawlings-Texas Boom at the East Cobb Complex.

Underwood, a 6-1, 165-pound pitcher and outfielder, struck out four in 1 1/3 innings of relief. According to his scout notes, he showed "great balance" and "tight break" on his 84-mph curve.

At the plate, Underwood came off the bench in the fifth inning and went 1-for-1 with a lead-off double, flashing a "quick bat" and "gap power."
Predators beat Rocks Baseball >>
Marietta, Ga. — A couple East Coast Predators players attracted attention Friday morning during their 3-1 win over Rocks Baseball at the East Cobb Complex.

Shortstop David Skidmore (2012 Ola HS, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with a single and a double and showed "quick hands" and "good pop at the plate." He also looked aggressive in the lead-off spot.

Catcher Justin Veillette (2011, Ola HS, Ga.) went 2-for-3 as well with a pair of singles. According to his scout notes, Veillette has a quick transfer and could be a potential power hitter. He also performed well on defense.

Marietta, Ga. — Shortstop Jordan Ebert (2012 Baldwin County HS, Ala.) hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh Friday morning to give Marucci Elite an 8-7 win over Indians Baseball Friday morning at the East Cobb Complex.

According to his scout notes, Ebert showed aggressiveness at the plate and good power, registering 88 mph off the bat.

Right fielder Colin Rodgers (2012 Parkview Baptist HS, Ala.) also garnered attention, going 2-for-2 with a single, a double and two RBI. Rodgers displayed "solid contact all day" at the plate, "quick bat speed," and "good power" for his 6-0, 173-pound frame.

Meanwhile, Marucci RHP Russell Reynolds (2012 Parkview Baptist HS, Ala.) topped out at 88 mph and sat between 81-87. Coming out of the bullpen in the second inning, Reynolds allowed no runs on three hits and struck out four.

He possesses a "projectable build" and "works quickly." His 76-mph also "dives quickly."

Marietta, Ga. — Team Georgia RHP Tyler Harrison (2013 Marist HS, Ga.) and ABA Braves RHP Ty Alvey (2012 Northgate HS, Ga.) combined for a complete three-hit, 0-0 tie game Thursday afternoon at Dominion Christian High School.

Harrison, listed at 5-9, 200 pounds, topped out at 77 mph and sat between 73-76 and allowed one hit and struck out three. Alvey, listed at 6-3, 205 pounds, topped out at 84 mph and sat betwen 78-82 and allowed two hits and struck out four.

Marietta, Ga. — Palm Beach Stix left fielder Nick Jones (2012 Park Vista HS, Fla.) and extra hitter Chris Brown (2012 Atlantic HS, Fla.) impressed offensively Thursday afternoon in a 6-2 win over the Tennessee Fury at Dominion Christian High School.

Jones and Brown but displayed a "good swing" and "good contact." Jones went 3-for-3 with three straight singles and two RBI, while Brown went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

According to his scout notes, Brown also runs well. He is listed as a 5-9, 150-pound infielder.

Marietta, Ga. — Rocks Baseball center fielder Tyler Mauzy (2012 Hillgrove HS, Ga.) put his swing on display Thursday morning at Dominion Christion HS, going 2-for-4 with a triple and a two-RBI single against the Home Plate Chilidawgs. According to his scout notes, Mauzy "stays inside the ball" and "uses the opposite field."

Chilidawg shortstop Mike Trebendis (2013 Fayette County HS, Ga.) also showed a good swing, going 2-for-2 with a two-RBI single and a triple as well. Trenbendis also exhibited a bit of speed and ran well on the base paths.

Marietta, Ga. — Three 643 players tallied two hits apiece Thursday afternoon at Kell High School in a 8-0 shutout against the Indiana Irish.

Taylor Allum (2013 Grayson HS, Ga.) and Travis Wildermuth (2013 Etowah HS, Ga.) both went 2-for-3, and Nick Aiken (2013 North Forsyth HS, Ga.) went 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk. Allum recorded a RBI single and a two-RBI triple.
Rodgers touches 88 in win >>
Marietta, Ga. — Marucci Elite LHP Colin Rodgers (2012 Parkview Baptist HS, La.) topped out at 88 mph Thursday morning at Pope High School in a 12-0 win over the East Cobb Diamondbacks. Through two innings, Rodgers allowed no runs on three hits and struck out five of nine batters faced.

Offensively for Marucci, Troy Lewis (2012 Dutchtown HS, La.), Luke Stanley (2012 Lafayette HS, Miss.), and Russell Reynolds (2012 Parkview Baptist HS, La.) all tallied multiple hits. Lewis went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double for three RBI, Stanley went 2-for-2 with two singles for two RBI, and Reynolds went 2-for-3 with two singles.
