2016 Mid Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase

1- Gold Vs. 2- Maroon >>

8/21/2016 11:19:23 AM

Jacob Lebovitch (2017 RHP, Englewood, NJ) topped out at 84mph this morning mixing in his curveball at 69mph. Lebovitch pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a simple repeatable delivery attacks hitters with his fastball and has good depth to his curveball.

Jared Kwicinski (2017 OF/RHP, Toms River, NJ) topped out at 84mph on his fastball with his curveball at 65mph and his changeup at 67mph. Kwicinski has a short arm action with arm side run on to his fastball and repeats his delivery.

Jordan Stennett (2017 OF/RHP, West Orange, NJ) sat 78-82 on his fastball with it topping out at 83mph and his curveball at 69mph. Stennett pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot, does a good job of getting on top of his fastball and his fastball explodes out of his hand.

Austin Kaplan (2017 MIF/RHP, West Nyack, NY) topped out at 84mph on his fastball with his curveball at 74mph and his changeup at 77mph. Kaplan pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action with arm side run to his fastball and his changeup has good diving life to it.

Christopher Flynn (2017 3B, Randolph, NJ) had two singles in the game for the Maroon team. Flynn has a direct bat path with a short swing and has bat speed.

Tommy Rodriguez (2017 OF, Paterson, NJ) also singled twice for the Maroon team. Rodriguez stays loose at the plate with a level swing and squares the ball up.

Brandon Mology (2017 RHP, Wall, NJ) topped out at 81mph on his fastball with his curveball at 64mph, his slider at 71mph and his changeup at 70mph. Mology pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a compact arm action and arm speed with a feel for his changeup.

Adam Holland (2017 OF, Erial, NJ) made hard contact all morning singling three times. Holland has lots of bat speed squaring the ball up consistently and has good instincts on the bases.

Matthew Butigian (2017 2B, Plainview, NY) had a good day at the plate today collecting two singles for the Maroon team. Butigian has a nice easy approach at the the plate with a line drive swing plane.

John Crane (2017 3B, Churchville, PA) made solid contact at the plate today including doubling for the Gold team. Crane has a short compact swing with bat speed.

Ronald Meehan (2017 RHP, Brielle, NJ) topped out at 83mph on his fastball today with his curveball at 71mph and his changeup at 72mph. Meehan pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with good use of his lower half and pounds the strike zone. Meehan does a good job of mixing his pitches to keep hitters off balance and gets swings and misses.

Christopher Hamann (2017 LHP, Washington, DC) impressed one the mound this afternoon for the Maroon team. Hamann pitches from a low 3/4 arm slot with balanced mechanics on the mound pounding the strike zone with his pitches and doing a good job of missing bats.

Batting Practice Highlights >>

8/20/2016 1:27:53 PM

Perhaps the loudest round of the Top Prospect portion of batting practice belonged to uncommitted outfielder Adam Holland (2017 OF, Erial, NJ). His righthanded swing was plenty quick and showed solid bat speed coming through the zone, producing consistent hard and loud contact to the warning track on his pull side.

Stephen Kalayjian (2017 OF, Katonah, NY) showed nice looseness to his righthanded swing with which he was able to work all fields with a short, relatively direct line drive path to the ball. He shows a feel for the barrel and was able to generate occasional lift off the barrel courtesy of his physical strength.

Jimmy Luis Fred Mapakou Djembo (2017 OF, Grand St Hoboken, NJ) is a strongly built 5-foot-11, 180-pound outfielder from New Jersey who put his interesting raw power from the right side on display throughout his round. Though there are a few timing trigger to his swing, when he was on time and showed balance he was able to create extension and separation with carry to the pull side.

Daniel Matranga (2017 OF, Kennett Square, PA), an uncommitted 6-foot-1, 185-pound righthanded hitting outfielder, showed off a short and direct swing to the ball and utilizes a simple weight shift through his lower half. He shows a feel for the barrel and found it on a regular basis, spraying line drive contact to all parts of the field.

Brandon Mology (2017 RHP, Wall, NJ) is a switch-hitter who’s listed as a primary righthanded pitcher in the program, but showed a sound feel for the barrel from either side. There was both balance and barrel feel from either side of the plate with a tick more comfort and bat speed from the left side with a balanced shift and occasional leverage out front at the point of contact.

Christopher Flynn (2017 3B, Randolph, NJ) did a nice job of incorporating the physicality within his 5-foot-11 frame into his lefthanded swing as he stayed short to the ball and was able to produce nice carry off the barrel to the pull side when extended out front.

Tommy Rodriguez (2017 OF, Paterson, NJ) is listed at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds and put together a nice round of batting practice after throwing an impressive 90 mph from the outfield. Using a leg lift trigger Rodriguez showed nice quickness to both his hands and barrel, whip the barrel head through the zone with consistent contact to the pull side while showing occasional lift.

Jordan Stennett (2017 OF, West Orange, NJ) stayed short to the ball with a direct path while showing nice quickness to his hands which helped create sound bat speed through the zone. When he was on time with the uncoiling to his swing Stennett was able to generate back spun contact to the pull side.

Kobi Wolf (2017 OF, Westfield, NJ) continued to put together a nice showcase after performing well throughout the skills portion. A righthanded hitter, Wolf used a toe tap trigger for timing and showed a full and fluid swing with nice separation and plenty of hard line drive contact off the barrel to the middle and pull side parts of the field.
