2015 National Showcase

Garrett Rukes, a left-hander committed to the University of Alabama came out in the first inning and worked quickly and efficiently. Throwing from an extended three-quarter arm slot, Rukes ran his fastball up to 85 mph creating solid angle. Mixing well, Rukes showed a strong feel for his changeup up to 77 mph with late fading life down in the zone helping him generate weak ground ball contact. He also showed a nice feel for his breaking ball en route to striking out three batters.

Ryan Orr was the only batter to get a base hit off of Rukes, squaring a ball up for a hard line drive single into left field. Later in the game Orr squared up another fastball for a hard line drive single into the left-center field gap. In his final at-bat of the showcase, Orr went the opposite way on an outer half curveball and deposited it into right field for his third hit of the day.

Working a quick inning on the mound, University of Georgia commit James Williams induced three weak ground ball outs to retire the side, working down in the zone with a fastball that sat at 85-86 mph with a nice feel for his at 72 mph.

William Jensen is a long and projectable 6-foot-3, 165-pound right-hander from the state of Utah. Showing an extended release, Jensen has a fast arm coming through the back and topped out at 89 mph with more coming as he continues to fill out. His curveball featured nice bite at 75 mph and rounded out the repertoire with an 80 mph changeup, striking out three batters.

Colton Widdows, an uncommitted left-hander, ran his fastball up to 87 mph in each of his two innings, generating nice downhill plane from an over the top arm slot. Showing a quick arm with some life to his arm side when down in the zone, Widdows also showed a big curveball at 70 mph and a changeup in the 76-78 mph range.

Sean Keating, another uncommitted arm from the state of Utah, struck out two batters in his first inning of work as he ran his fastball up to 88 mph from a short and quick arm action. Punching out the side in the second inning, Keating continued to hold his velocity and fill up the strike zone, showing a curveball up to 76 mph and flashed a changeup at 77 mph.

Daniel Seres showed quick hands on an inside fastball, turning on it for a hard line drive single into the left-center field gap. Later in the game Seres turned on another fastball for a sharply hit ground ball through the 5-6 hole. 

Jared Cenal, an uncommitted right-hander from Tampa, Florida came out in the first inning up to 85 mph with his fastball, showing nice running life to his arm side. Able to locate to his arm side, Cenal pitched mostly off his fastball but did show a 10-4 slider in the low-70s and a changeup at 76 mph. 

Aaron Greenfield, an uncommitted right-handed bat from California, put a charge on an inner half fastball and banged it off the wall for a two-bag hit.

Ryan Garcia, a primary shortstop from California who is committed to UCLA took the mound for the sixth and seventh innings and did a nice job showing an easy and effortless arm action. Running his fastball up to 88 mph with some running life down in the zone, Garcia is able to locate down to his glove side well and also showed a feel for both a curveball and changeup. He ended up with four strike outs in his two innings. In his final at-bat of the game, Garcia line a fastball back up the middle for a hard line drive single. 

Adam Reis is a strongly built right-hander who hails from Orlando, Florida and currently uncommitted. Came out and showed a full four-pitch mix on the mound to close out the game for the White team. Sitting in the 84-87 mph range with his fastball in his first inning of work, Reis also showed a straight changeup at 81 mph, an 11-5 curveball at 78 mph with depth and a sharper slider at 81 mph.

Anthony Masiello is a left-handed pitcher who is committed to the University of Miami commit. Running his fastball up to 86 mph in his first inning of work, Masiello showed nice running on his fastball as he worked from a full arm action. Working mostly off his fastball, Masiello also showed a nice feel for a curveball in the upper-60s that featured big depth and feel for the pitch.

Jorge Guitierrez, a switch-hitter, showed off a strong feel for the barrel from the left side in his first at-bat as he drove a pitch high off the Green Monster in left field for a standup double.

Brian Rey is full of quick-twitch athleticism and during his first at-bat squared up a fastball for a hard and loud single past the outstretched third baseman.

Nikolas Constantakos, an uncommitted right-handed pitcher from Jupiter, Florida came out running his fastball up to 87 mph in his first inning of work, showing an easy arm action with running life on his fastball. Showing a feel for all three of his pitches, Constantakos also featured a 12-6 curveball with depth while working exclusively out of the stretch with a changeup at 73.

Lael Lockhart, a primary first baseman who showed off solid defensive skills at first base throughout the weekend took to the mound and struck out three batters in his two innings of work. Showing a balanced and repeatable delivery, Lockhart sat at 84-86 mph with downhill plane and showed a strong feel for curveball in the low-70s, mixing well while missing bats.

Committed to Pepperdine, Ian McEachern worked the third and the fourth innings for the Steel team. Showing an easy and extended three-quarter arm slot, McEachern sat in the 85-87 mph range, topping 88 mph, with some running life down to his fastball while showing the ability to locate down in the zone. A strong 6-foot-5 right-hander, McEachern also showed a nice feel for his curveball in the low-70s.

Jack Khawly made a nice defensive play at third base, picking a well-hit ball to his left before quickly getting it out of his glove to begin a double play. 

Frank Vesuvio is a quick-twitch primary outfielder who took the mound for two innings of work and showed off a loose right arm, working in the 86-89 mph fastball. Along with his fastball, the uncommitted Vesuvio also showed a nice changeup at 81 mph and a slider at 80 mph with late sweeping life. After throwing his first inning, Vesuvio then hit an opposite field single over the second baseman’s head.

Brett Vosik, a primary outfielder from Omaha, Nebraska who is currently uncommitted worked the middle innings for the Steel team. With a long and strong6-foot-4 frame, Vosik topped out at 89 mph with his fastball, consistently sitting in the upper-80s while flashing a changeup at 74 mph.

Dusty Baker picked up a nice opposite field single when he went with an outer half 89 mph and put it into the left-center field gap. 

Tyler Musselwhite, a primary shortstop committed to Winthrop jumped on the mound for the last two innings for Texas Orange and showed a smooth and easy arm action coming through. Topping out at 85 mph, Musselwhite showed a feel for four different pitches on the mound as he varies the shape of his breaking ball with both a slider and curveball and rounded out the arsenal with a changeup up to 76 mph.

A San Diego State commit, Arizona native Logan Boyer showed interesting two-way potential this weekend swing a strong right-handed bat while playing nice defense behind the plate and he also took the mound. Using his strength and tall build to generate downhill plane on his fastball that ran up to 90 mph, Boyer also showed a nice, late fading changing up 82 mph and a breaking ball up to 74 mph.

A strongly built left-hander, Thomas Spinelli is already committed to Mississippi and he showed a nice mix on the mound, showing three different pitches. Topping out at 89 mph, Spinelli stays short through the backside of his delivery, hiding the ball well while showing a big curveball with nice depth at 77 mph and a straight changeup at 80, all three coming out from the same high three-quarter arm slot. 

Throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot, Arizona State commit Alec Marsh made quick work of his two innings in part to his solid three-pitch mix. Sitting comfortably in the upper-80s while touching 90 mph throughout, Marsh is able to pound the ball downhill to both sides of the plate. As impressive as his fastball was, his feel of a sharp three-pitch mix was even more impressive with a sharp curveball and late fading changeup helping him strikeout five batters.

Coming out and sitting in the 90-92 mph range with his fastball, Mississippi commit Greer Holston was able to pound the strike zone and did so from a lower three-quarter arm slot. Generating plenty of life on his fastball due to his slot, Holston showed a quality slider up to 81 mph and a late diving changeup at 81 mph, giving him three pitches are have the ability of missing bats while living down in the zone.

Working exclusively out of the stretch, uncommitted right-hander Cameron Jabara shows a quick right arm and hides the ball well while running his fastball up to 90 mph throughout his two innings of work. His changeup, a pitch that peaked at 78 mph, was his go-to secondary as it showed late fading life from the same arm slot. Rounding out his arsenal is a low-70s curveball with nice depth.

Parker McHale came out firing from his first pitch of his outing, sitting in the 87-90 mph range with his fastball while showing a quick and compact arm action. Getting on top of the ball, the uncommitted McHale also showed a sharp and late breaking 12-6 curveball, a true swing and miss pitch at present up to 79 mph.

Tyler Daughtry, a Florida State commit and left-handed hitter, did a nice job of keeping his weight back on an outer half breaking ball before shooting it down the left field line for a stand up double. Defensively he showed a quick motor and nice footwork to the ball.

Southern California commit Blake Sabol, a primary catcher, showed off his athleticism at first base on a sharply hit ground ball that ricocheted off the pitcher’s leg. Charging in, Sabol was able to quickly change direction while staying balanced and picked the ball while slapping a tag on the runner.

Running his fastball up to 91 mph, right-hander Austin Bodrato showed a very easy and low effort arm action, generating solid running life down in the zone. Striking out the side in his first inning of work, the University of Florida commit picked up another two punch outs as he complemented his heater with a sharp curveball up to 77 mph.

Showing fast and loose actions up the middle, Notre Dame commit Michael Feliz showed quick footwork as he sharply cut off a chopped ground ball up the middle before delivering an off balanced strike across the diamond.

Coming south from New York, strongly built right-hander Nick Silber showed two quality pitches during his two innings of work. With nice extension at release, the Rice University commit worked two very quick and efficient innings, retiring all six batters that he faced. Living down with his fastball, Silber’s slider showed very sharp life up to 80 mph and came out from the same slot while maintaining arm speed.

Erickson Nichols, another Northeast native, kept his weight back on a quality 75 mph curveball and squared it up for a hard and loudly hit single past the third baseman.

Closing out the night was Texas Tech commit Tuck Tucker, a left-hander from the state of Texas. With a strong and physical build, Tucker peaked at 89 mph with his fastball showing good angle and arm side run from the first base side. Finishing the night with three strikeouts, Tucker showed a 1-7 curveball with nice depth in the low-70s.

Anthony Molina continues to show a very easy arm action producing a fastball that consistently lived in the low-90s over his two innings, peaking as high as 94 mph. A right-handed pitcher who is currently uncommitted, Molina struck out the side in the first inning before getting two weak ground ball outs in the second inning and a fly out to center field. Molina also showed an 11-5 curveball in the low-70s and a changeup that peaked at 75 mph with fading life.

Florida Atlantic commit Dylan O’Connell struck out two hitters over his two innings, living consistently in the upper-80s while topping out at 90 mph. With a quick arm through the backside, O’Connell created solid angle on his fastball along with the ability to work low in the zone to both sides of the plate. Keeping hitters off balance, the left-hander showed a solid feel for his breaking ball as well in the mid-70s.

Ryland Cox is a tall right-hander who is committed to Texas State and hails from Taylor, Texas. At 6-foot-6 Cox did a nice job of getting on top of his fastball, running it up to 91 mph while sitting in the 88-90 mph range. Showing a three-pitch mix, Cox spun a slider up to 78 mph and also featured a changeup that clocked in at 78 mph.

Cooper Johnson lined a 90 mph fastball and off the barrel that looked like it may have gotten down in the gap for extra-bases until left-fielder Brad Demco came racing across to make a diving catch to end the inning.

Breonn Pooler is an uncommitted right-hander who is full of athleticism and shows a quick right arm on the mound. Listed at 6-foot, 168-pounds, Pooler ran his fastball up to 89 mph with a quick arm at release and life to his arm side down in the zone. Along with his fastball Pooler showed a breaking ball in the low-70s that featured late life en route to striking out three batters.

Tyler Musselwhite did a nice job of keeping his weight back on an curveball and shot it back up the middle for a line drive single.

Following Musselwhite’s at-bat, left-handed hitting Dusty Baker lined an 87 mph fastball down the right-field line for a standup triple, plating a run and giving the Texas Orange team an early lead.

Morgan Harrison, an uncommitted right-hander, ran his fastball up to 90 mph during his two innings on the mound with the ball coming out of his hand cleanly and easily. Striking out three hitters in his two inning, Harrison also showed a slider up to 81 mph and flashed a changeup at 79 mph.

Spencer Van Scoyoc is one of the more projectable arms to throw today with his 6-foot-4 frame and ability to locate both of his pitches throughout the strike zone. Peaking at 89 mph with his fastball, the Arizona State commit struck out four in his two innings of work, showing an easy and fluid arm action. Creating angle and downhill plane with his fastball, Van Scoyoc also showed a quality feel for his big breaking ball showing quality depth and feel in the low-70s.

Mark Potter has a strong 6-foot-7, 245-pound build and he used it well in his delivery to work comfortably in the upper-80s throughout his two innings of work. Over those two innings the Jacksonville University commit struck out two hitters swinging and another looking while mixing in a breaking ball in the 72-74 mph range. 

Showing a quick and short arm action through the back, right-hander Riley Troutt did a nice job of getting on top of his fastball consistently, living in the 87-89 mph range with his fastball. He was able to induce ground ball contact by living low in the zone and showed a nice feel for a 12-6 curveball in the low-70s. In total, the uncommitted Troutt struck out three batters.

Ryan Reynolds stayed down on an 89 mph fastball and shot it back up the middle for a hard ground ball single, plating another run for the Texas Orange team.

Christian Bullock (2016 OF, Chicago, IL) still has lots of time to get stronger but he has the base swing mechanics to be a very good left handed hitter.  He hits from on top of the ball with simple and direct mechanics and owned the right centerfield gap.

Mason Templet (2016 3B, Youngsville, LA) is limited by a knee injury but had no problem handling the bat in BP.  He has an outstanding athletic build with a quick hands and excellent raw bat speed.

Jack Khawly (2016 3B, Southwest Ranches, FL) just missed blasting a home run in the game preceding BP and continued to show big power in BP itself, wearing out the LCF wall with hard contact.

Nick Long (2016 RHP, Sarasota, FL) has transitioned from a primary shortstop to a primary pitcher over the past year but showed he can still swing the bat.  He has very good bat speed with good extension and took one pitch over the wall in left.

Tyler Musselwhite (2016 SS, Lumberton, NC) packs plenty of strength into his 5-9/160 build and has explosive hands at contact.

Mitchell Golden (2016 SS, Marietta, GA) is another medium sized middle infielder at 5-10/175 who can swing the bat with authority.  Golden is a switch-hitter with similar ability from both sides of the plate and especially quick hands.

Ryan Reynolds (2016 2B, Monroe, LA) is also a switch-hitter but with a different approach than Golden.  He's a big and strong 6-2 athlete with power and lift from both sides of the plate.
 
Gavin Lux (2016 SS, Kenosha, WI) is a quick twitch athlete who uses his quick hands to create lots of left handed bat speed from the left side.  He did his best work pulling and to RCF after settling down his timing.

Mickey Moniak (2016 OF, Encinitas, CA) might have the best "Hit" tool in the 2016 class.  The left handed hitter has the ability to make hard contact to all fields, with some real power to the pull side, and worked the ball evenly around the field in BP like a windshield wiper going back and forth.

Blake Sabol (2016 C, Aliso Niguel, CA) has really put on lots of strength over the last year and really swung the bat with authority and bat speed.

Nicholas Quintana (2016 SS, Las Vegas, NV) will have to shorten up his right handed swing at the next level but he has big raw bat speed, extension and power potential, especially from a talented defensive middle infielder.
 
Ryan McHale (2016 1B, Las Vegas, NV) is Quintana's teammate at Arbor View HS in Las Vegas and has prospect hitting tools as well.  His right handed swing approach is very simple and direct in its execution and he has lots of strength in his 6-3/220 build.
 
Aaron Pilkington (2016 C, Charlotte, NC) showed some big right handed power during his round, lifting two balls over the Monster and consistently hitting hard top spin line drives to the pull side.

Viewed as one of the top right-handed pitchers in the 2016 class, Arizona State commit Reggie Lawson come out firing as he ran his fastball up to 93 mph while sitting very comfortably in the low-90s with nearly every fastball that left his hand. Working downhill with late life on the pitch, Lawson also featured a hard running two-seam fastball at 89 mph with a breaking ball up to 74 mph. 

Antonio Velez showed off solid feel on the mound over his two innings of work, running his fastball up to 89 mph while working in the mid-upper-80s with fastball consistently throughout. Striking out two batters in his second inning of work, the uncommitted Velez showed a nice late fading changeup at 80-81 mph and a 1-7 curveball in the low-70s.

Mickey Moniak took one of the more impressive rounds of batting practice in group three, showing an advanced feel for the barrel from the left side with hard and loud contact to all parts of the field. Jump into his first in game at-bat and the UCLA commit is at it again lining an 87 mph fastball back up the middle for a line drive single.

Tyler Fitzgerald had a very solid round of batting practice and brought those barrel skills into his game at-bats as the Louisville pulled a 93 mph fastball into left field for a well stuck line drive single. 

Michael Feliz has continued to swing the bat well after a nice workout, showing a quick bat through the zone and lined a 90 mph fastball back up the middle for a hard hit single.

Zachary Hess is a long and projectable 6-foot-6 right-hander who is committed to Virginia Tech. Creating lots of deception in his delivery, Hess ran his fastball up to 93 mph with solid cutting life away from right-handed hitters. Living in the low-90s with his fastball, Hess was able to miss bats both with his fastball and upper-70s/low-80s breaking ball with late life on the pitch.

Christian James is a strong 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-hander who produced a steady upper-80s/low-90s fastball that peaked at 91 mph with late sinking life down in the zone. Hiding the ball well through the backside, the uncommitted Florida native showed a nice changeup in the low-80s and a breaking ball that he threw with comfort up to 81 mph with late life.

Nick DiPonzio got a good first step on a sinking line drive hit out to him in left field and with a good first step he was able to make a diving catch to take away what would have been extra-bases.

Dakota Donovan is a strong 6-foot-7 right-hander from Utah who is committed to Oregon State. Working from an extended three-quarter arm slot, Donovan was able to produce a rather easy fastball in the 87-90 mph range with late running and sinking life down in the zone. He flashed a slider at 78 mph along with a changeup that featured late tumbling life in the upper-70s.

Zachary Strickland came out showing nice stuff on the mound running his fastball up to 92 mph in his first inning of work, sitting consistently in the 89-91 mph range with late cutting life. Though able to get outs on the strength of his fastball, the Georgia Southern commit also showed a nice feel for a 12-6 curveball in the low-80s, located down in the zone just as his fastball was.

Pablo Cedeno showed his strength during batting practice earlier today before stepping into the right-handed batter’s box and pulling a 76 mph changeup down the left field line for a two-run single.

Left-hander Adam Laskey continues to add strength to his frame and velocity to his fastball. Showing a balanced delivery, the Duke University commit is able to create solid angle on his fastball that worked steadily in the 88-91 mph range with life down in the zone. Able to locate his fastball throughout the zone, Laskey was able to miss bats with his curveball as well showing depth up to 81 mph.

Committed to Auburn University, Tucker Bradley shows two-way potential as he’s a primary outfield that ran his fastball up to 85 mph in his first inning of work from a lower three-quarter arm slot. He also showed a feel for his curveball down in the zone and a changeup up to 73 mph.

Joshua Lowe has impressed throughout the entire weekend as a position player but last night he was able to show off his abilities on the mound. A strongly built right-hander who is committed to Florida State, Lowe came out pumping 93-94 mph fastballs in the first inning with sever plane. Along with his premium fastball, Lowe also showed a sharp slider in the low-80s and a quality feel for a late fading changeup down in the zone.

Walker Robbins impressed the entire weekend with his left-handed swing and high-end athleticism at first base, making several spectacular plays. Yesterday afternoon he jumped on the mound and ran his fastball up to 91 mph from the left side with solid angle and downhill plane. Along with his heater, he showed a nice depth on his curveball up to 77 mph and flashed a changeup at 84 mph.

Morgan McCollough has continued to hit at a high level at the National Showcase and again picked up a base knock as he line an inner half fastball over the head of the first baseman for a single.

A University of South Carolina commit, right-hander Michael Bienlien sat in the 89-91 mph range with his fastball, throwing from an extended three-quarter arm slot which helped generate late sinking life down in the zone. Maintaining his slot on his changeup, Bienlien showed nice fading life down in the zone and was able to miss plenty of bats with his breaking ball in the mid-70s.

Rounding out the arms of the game was University of Miami native Evan McKendry, a 6-foot-2 right-hander from Pembroke Pines, FL, sat in the 88-91 mph range with his fastball, topping out at 92 mph. Showing a full arm action through the back, McKendry also showed a nice 12-6 curveball with depth and did a nice job of repeating his balanced delivery.

Kevin Brophy got things going right away for the Texas Orange team as he got fully extended in his left-handed swing on the first pitch of the game, lining a 91 mph fastball into the left-center field gap for a standup triple.

Daniel Rivero did a nice job of working downhill with his fastball, sitting in the 87-89 mph with his fastball while peaking at 90 with the pitch. He showed a nice overall feel on the mound and kept hitters off balance with a three-pitch mix, including a curveball at 75 mph and a changeup up to 79 mph.

D.J. Roberts has a strong 6-foot-2, 218-pound frame and came out showing nice stuff during his two innings on the mound. Showing a fast and loose arm through the backside, the South Florida commit ran his fastball up to 92 mph, sitting in the 89-91 mph range with his fastball. His slider showed short bite up to 81 mph and also flashed a changeup at 78 mph.

Cameron Cannon showed off his prowess at shortstop early in the first game, ranging well to his right and into the 5-6 hole, making a throw across his body while his body was taking him away from the bag.

Colton Rendon, currently uncommitted, struck out two in his two innings of work and held his fastball velocity well throughout. Sitting in the 87-89 mph, Rendon showed a full arm action through the backside with nice running life on the pitch.

Robert Peto is a University of North Carolina commit who came out showing projectable stuff on the mound. Listed at 6-foot-4, Peto ran his fastball up to 90 mph and showed late and heavy life on the pitch, inducing steady ground ball contact. With a clean arm action coming through the backside, the New Jersey native also showed nice depth on his breaking ball up to 80 mph.

Drew Parrish worked a very quick and efficient two innings on the mound as the Florida State commit struck out three during his outing. Working with a fastball in the 86-88 mph range, Parrish hides the ball very well through the backside and spot it down to either side. He also showed a strong feel for his 1-7 curveball with depth at 72 mph and flashed a changeup at 79 mph.

Andrew Belcik is a strong 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-hander from Florida who came out mixing his fastball and curveball very well, missing bats in the process. With a fastball up to 91 mph, Belcik was able to work downhill with his fastball, coming out of his hand easily while maintaining his slot on a sharp 12-6 curveball with late bite. 

Brad Demco showed off his quick hands in his right-handed swing as he turned on an inner half fastball that showed running life in, turning on the ball for a hard ground ball single down the line.

Jack Khawly, an uncommitted third baseman out of Florida, hit the hardest ball of the game coming off the bat very loudly with hard line drive triple to dead center field.

Jonathan Worley is a tall and projectable right-hander from California who ran his fastball up to 91 mph in his first of two innings on the mound. Committed to San Diego, Worley showed off a nice feel for a three-pitch mix, each with life and ability to get down in the zone.

Nick Long has interesting two-way potential as he plays a solid shortstop and can swing it from the right side. A primary right-handed pitcher and University of Florida commit Long showed an easy arm action that produced a fastball up to 90 mph with life down in the zone. The arm is loose and easy to project more velocity on the way while showing sharp curveball up to 76 mph with nice depth on it.

Jason Groome has been viewed as one of the top arms in the 2016 class and he reaffirmed that notion, sitting in the 92-95 mph range with his fastball, looking as though he’s playing catch and doing it with ease. Pounding the ball downhill in the strike zone, the left-handed Vanderbilt commit showed a sharp curveball in the upper-70s and a changeup at 79 mph.

Alexis Torres has continued to have a nice showcase, squaring up a 93 mph fastball from Groome and lined it deep to centerfield for a standup double.

Jeff Belge, another high end arm out of the Northeast, faced off against Groome for the first two innings. With a strong and broad 6-foot-4, 245-pound build the St. John’s commit showed an easy arm action that produced a fastball up to 92 mph. Able to pound inside on right-handed hitters, Belge also showed a nice feel for a breaking ball in the 75-77 mph range.

Avery Tuck announced his presence during batting practice and he hasn’t stopped hitting against live pitching as he again drove a pitch to the opposite field, banging a double off of the Green Monster. On the game he ended up picking up 3 hits on the day.

Facing a quality left-handed fastball, catcher Herbert Iser squared up a low-90s fastball and shot it back up the box for a hard line drive single. 

Jarron Silva showed off his speed and defensive instinct early in the game as he came charging in and made an excellent diving catch on a sinking line drive.  4.22

It would be hard to find a bat that has proven to be more consistent than that of Joe Rizzo. A left-handed hitter, Rizzo was unfazed by velocity as he once again got the barrel to the ball and hit a hard ground bat single up the middle.

Rian Haire, a University of South Carolina commit, showed a steady fastball in the 89-91 mph range, working over his front side well and generating solid downhill plane. To go with his fastball the left-hander showed a solid slider up to 79 mph with tight rotation and late biting life.

Cam Sheppard, a University of Georgia commit showed a solid two-strike approach in the box before lining fastball back up the middle for a hard line drive single. He then stole second base within the next two pitches.

The second Vanderbilt commit from the Northeast to take the mound, right-hander Ian Anderson showed a high level of pitchability, mixing three pitches very consistently with a feel for all three. Working steadily in the 91-93 mph range with his fastball showing solid life to his arm side Anderson also mixed in a quality breaking ball and a late fading changeup.

Coming out from California, San Diego commit Cole Cardey generated consistent downhill plane on his fastball that peaked at 91 mph, showing heavy life down in the zone. Able to miss bats with his fastball, Cardey also showed a nice feel for his 12-6 in the 73-74 mph range with a 78 mph changeup to round out his arsenal.

A primary shortstop, South Carolina commit Grant Bodison may have made the defensive play of the showcase while at second base as he ranged back to his right on a soft flare and finished the play with a diving catch while still going backwards.

The third Vanderbilt commit to take the mound, left-hander Braxton Garrett worked comfortably in the 88-90 mph while filling up the bottom half of the strike zone with the pitch. To go along with the fastball, Garrett showed a quality feel for his sharp curveball snapping several off for strikes up to 80 mph.

Blair Frederick is a left-hander from Louisiana who is committed to stay in-state with the Tigers of Louisiana State. Working steadily in the upper-80s with his fastball from a deceptive and extended three-quarter arm slot, Frederick was able to fill up the strike zone. Along with his fastball, Frederick showed a strong feel for his slider up to 77 mph out of the same slot with big breaking life.

Standing at 6-foot-6, right-hander Easton McGee shows a very projectable frame and already is capable of producing quality stuff on the mound. Living in the 88-90 mph range with his fastball, McGee showed heavy life with his fastball down in the zone from a quick and compact arm action.

Closing out the game was right-hander Brandon Fraley from the state of Delaware. Listed as a primary outfielder, the uncommitted Fraley sat in the 87-90 mph for his one inning of work. Showing a quick and short arm action, Fraley filled up the strike zone and also showed a sharp 12-6 curveball up to 79 mph.

Will Proctor made a very similar play at second to the one he made late last night, charging in on a slow roller before taking a jump step and delivering a strike across his body.  The athleticism and overall actions have really stood out for Proctor over the first couple of games. 

Josh Stephen got things going offensively from the onset of the game, staying on an outer half fastball in the low-90s and drove it into left field for a standup double.

Coleman Williams came out firing for the Royal team as the Duke commit ran his fastball up to 93 mph while working in the low-90s throughout his outing. Showing a full and loose arm action through the backside, Williams also featured a feel for a 12-6 curveball and a changeup in the 78-80 mph range.

Committed to Mississippi State, right-hander Riley Self ran his fastball up to 91 mph showing nice cutting life on the pitch and the ability to work down in the zone.  Along with his heater that sat in the 88-90 mph nicely, Self threw a slider at 81-82 mph from the same arm slot with late life away from right-handed hitters. He also flashed a changeup at 83 mph.

Nolan Williams, who is currently uncommitted, put a nice swing on an 87 mph left-handed fastball, shooting the outer half pitch to the opposite field for a hard line drive single.

Standing at 6-foot-10, left-hander Kyle Young did a nice job of staying balanced through his delivery while showing the ability to work low to both sides of the plate with his fastball, peaking at 88 mph. With a lower arm slot the Hofstra commit is able to generate nice life to his fastball and also showed both a curveball and changeup.

Yelin Rodriguez, who is currently uncommitted, did a nice job of working over his front side while generating nice extension out front. Running his fastball up to 89 mph, Rodriguez consistently working 85-88 mph his two innings. Rodriguez also showed a feel for his curveball in the low-70s with 1-7 shape.

A University of Washington commit, Austin Shenton showed off loose hands and a quick barrel in his swing as he lined an outer half fastball into left field for a standup double in the fourth inning. 

Hunter Coleman, Matt Merivs, and Cam Sheppard hit three consecutive singles for the Green team, each one pulling a fastball through the pull side.

Graeme Stinson is tall and strong left-handed pitcher out of Georgia who is also committed to Duke University. With an easy and tension free arm action, Stinson ran his fastball up to 90 mph from an extended slot, creating solid angle at release. Showing a slider at 79 mph, Stinson showed a solid changeup in the low-80s with late fading life down in the zone.

Alfredo Garcia-Barrios is a native of Venezuela and showed an impressive feel on the mound. A strongly build left-hander, Garcia-Barrios showed a full four-pitch and ran his fastball up to 91 mph in his second inning of work. Pounding the strike zone with all his pitches, the left-hander showed a nice feel for his curveball in the low-70s with plenty of depth and showed the ability to spot his 76-79 mph low to his glove side with late fading life.

Kenyon Yovan came out firing for his one inning of work, sitting in the 91-93 mph range with a quick and repeatable arm action. Getting his fastball down consistently, the University of Oregon commit showed a full mix as he threw both a slider and curveball to complement a solid changeup, maintaining his arm speed on the pitch up to 85 mph.

Matthew Cronin is a strong 6-foot-1 left-hander pitcher who did a nice job of locating his 87-89 mph fastball to both sides of the plate. Committed to the University of Arkansas, Cronin struck out the side in the first inning and showed a nice feel for a 1-7 curveball featuring nice depth and tight rotation. 

Chase Solesky worked in the mid-80s with his fastball from a short and compact arm action over his two innings of work. He showed the ability to work down in the zone with his fastball and miss plenty of bats during his time with nice running life. His curveball showed 12-6 shape with nice depth on the pitch and a changeup up to 78 mph.

After taking an impressive round of batting practice, Ben Rortvedt continued to swing a loud left-handed bat as he jumped on a fastball on the inner half and cleared the right field fence for a solo home run.

Francisco Thomas continued to his the ball well, putting a smooth and fluid right-handed swing on an 86 mph fastball, turning on the pitch for a standup double coming off the barrel at 97 mph.

EP Reese had a really nice round of batting practice the other day showing a consistent feel for the barrel and did so again this morning, turning on a pitch for hard barreled contact into right field.

A University of North Carolina commit, right-hander Evan Odum has a long and projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame. Doing a nice job of getting on top of his fastball, Odum topped out at 91 mph with fastball while showing a nice feel for his slider that showed late tilting life in the upper-70s with two-plane life.

Joe Sheridan has a strong 6-foot, 170-pound and showed a nice feel for a three-pitch mix on the mound. Running his fastball up to 88 mph from a three-quarter arm action, the University of Central Florida commit showed a nice feel for his slider at 77 mph and a late fading changeup at 78 mph with nice life to his arm side. 

Blake Brady got the barrel through the zone and ripped a hard line drive single back up the middle with hard contact coming off the barrel. 

Shane Martinez, a University of Arizona commit, put a quality swing on an outer half 85 mph fastball and stayed on it, shooting it to the opposite field gap for a standup double. 

Dion Henderson, a long and projectable left-hander from Michigan who came out and consistently in the 89-91 mph range, touching 92 with his fastball from a long and fluid arm action. Consistently getting on top of his fastball, the University of Kentucky commit was able to generate nice downhill plane while mixing in a 70 mph curveball and a changeup at 75 mph.

A Florida Atlantic commit, strongly built right-hander Michael Ruff impressed in his first inning of work, striking out the side while running his fastball up to 89 mph. Showing an easy and fluid arm action, the ball came out of his hand easily and showed a sharp curveball with late depth up to 74 mph. 

Another North Carolina commit, catcher Brandon Martorano jumped on top of a curveball and sent it into the netting on the Green Monster for a standup double. 

Two South Carolina commits also had loud contact as Joey Polak hit a long single high off the Green Monster and Joe Rizzo continued to find the barrel with a hard line drive single through the right side. Along with his abilities with the bat Rizzo impressed defensively at the hot corner with soft hands and consistent defensive actions. 

MD Johnson, a Dallas Baptist commit from Red Oak, Texas, came out and struck out two hitters during his time on the mound and did so while showing a full three-pitch mix. Bumping his fastball up to 92 mph, Johnson worked down in the zone with his fastball, showing some life to his arm side. His curveball shows nice depth and 12-6 depth and his changeup came across at 80 mph.

Pedro Feliciano turned on a 92 mph fastball and sent it high off the Green Monster in the left-center field gap for a standup triple. 

Throwing the final two innings for the Navy team was left-hander Rigsby Mosley and right-hander Zach Zientarski. A projectable left-hander, Mosley worked low in the zone with his fastball with nice angle coming from the first side of the rubber. Strongly built, Zach Zientarski ran his fastball up to 89 mph with some running life to his arm side en route to striking out a batter in his inning of work. 

Closing out the game with the final at-bat of the game, San Diego State commit Avery Tuck shot an inner half fastball high off the Green Monster in the left-centerfield gap in the bottom of the seventh.

Anthony Locey came out firing for the Royal team over his two innings of work coming out and hitting 94 mph with his first fastball. Working steadily in the low-90s and still touching 94 in the second inning, Locey showed a full arm action through the backside and did a nice job of working down in the zone very consistently with his fastball. With a strong 6-foot-3, 225-pound build, the Georgia Southern commit generated nice running life to his arm side and showed a nice feel for his curveball up to 77 mph with depth while staying balanced through his delivery.

Heading south from New Jersey right-hander Tyler Mondile made quite the impression during his outing as he sat at 93 mph with his fastball in nearly every pitch, once climbing to 94 and once hitting 92. Showing a fast and compact arm action in the back Mondile was able to steadily pound downhill at the knees while locating to both sides of the plate. His curveball was up to 83 mph and showed hard, downward depth helping him strike out four in his two innings of work. He is committed to Florida State. 

Will Proctor, who is listed as a primary shortstop, began the game at second base and showed off his big time athleticism charging in on a slow chopper before making a nice jump throw across his body to first base.

Committed to South Carolina, right-hander Sawyer Bridges showed a nice overall feel on the mound, throwing three pitches for strikes and had comfort for each. Topping at 91 mph with his fastball from a short and quick arm action, Bridges also showed a 12-6 curveball with downward depth and a solid changeup at 79-80 mph.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds, right-hander Caleb Kilian shows long and lean limbs with room to fill with added strength. Running his fastball up to 91 mph a handful of times, the Texas A&M commit showed the ability to locate his fastball down to both sides of the plate. His curveball showed nice depth and commanded it well working in the low-70s with the pitch.

With a strong performance last summer at the Junior National, University of Arkansas commit Tyler Benninghoff impressed again in Fort Myers. Working two-innings the right-hander struck out all six batters while working in the 89-91 mph range, topping out at 92 mph. The difference maker for Benninghoff though was his big curveball, a pitch that showed big depth in the 77-79 mph range, serving as a true swing and miss pitch.

Coming out from California, right-hander Holden Groff worked consistently at 87-88 mph with his fastball showing a full and easy arm action. Currently uncommitted, generates solid arm side run on his fastball while staying balanced through his delivery and showed a nice feel for his curveball in the 71-74 mph range.

A Notre Dame commit, 6-foot-4 right-hander Anthony Holubecki ran his fastball up to 91 mph and did so while showing the ability to work down in the zone, especially to his arm side. Working exclusively out of the stretch, Holubecki also showed a nice feel for his changeup, an offering that showed nice fade at 73 mph.

Joe Rizzo, who had an impressive round of batting practice yesterday continued to swing the bat well going with an outer half fastball and drove it into the left-center field gap for a two base hit.

The last pitcher to throw for the Red team was Vanderbilt commit Reid Schaller, a projectable right-hander from Indiana. Working consistently in the upper-80s with his fastball while peaking at 90 mph, Schaller showed a loose and balanced delivery while working of his front side well, generating late running life on his fastball. He rounded out his three-pitch mix with a slider up to 81 mph and a changeup at 82 mph.  

Francisco Del Valle showed off his fast hands in his left-handed swing as he turned on an inside fastball and hit a hard ground ball that ricocheted off the first baseman’s glove and into the outfield.

Kevin Milam did a nice job of squaring up an 87 mph fastball on the outer half and shot it into center field for a hard line drive single.

Ryan Zeferjahn is a long and athletic 6-foot-4 build with loose limbs that peaked at 92 mph with his fastball multiple times throughout his outing. The Kansas commit lived comfortably in the 89-92 mph range and showed the ability to locate well to his glove side. Showing looseness in his arm action, Zeferjahn also showed a slider in the mid-70s with life down in the zone.

With an athletic 6-foot-3, left-hander Tyler Blohm worked comfortably in the mid-80s with his fastball showing running life to his arm side. Working from a three-quarter slot, the Maryland commit shows a feel for both his curveball and changeup, throwing each for strikes.

Coming down from Massachusetts, left-hander Jackson Gillis threw well over his two innings of work, sitting comfortably in the 87-90 mph range. Showing a balanced delivery with a quick arm coming through the backside, the uncommitted Gillis pounded the strike zone with his fastball and also showed a feel for his curveball in the low-70s. 

Ryan Rolison, committed to Mississippi, is a projectable left-hander that already shows solid stuff on the mound. Working consistently in the 88-91 mph range with his fastball, Rolison did a really nice job of locating down to his glove side with his fastball and as the innings wore on his feel for his 1-7 curveball developed nicely.

Alexis Torres lined a pitch up the middle in the fourth inning that registered 95.6 mph off the barrel, showing off his combination of strength and bat speed in a single swing.

Morgan McCollough put his quick hands and barrel skills on display creating solid contact with nice life coming off the barrel.

Rigsby Mosley showed a nice feel for the barrel in both of his at-bats, going with an outer half fastball in his first plate appearance before lining a shot back up the middle, giving him two hits on the day.

Conner Capel is a quick-twitch athlete with the barrel skills and speed to make an impact at the top of the lineup. That’s just what he did in his team’s first game shooting a ball to the opposite field before hitting an infield chopper using his speed to beat the ball out for another single.

Dominic Fletcher squared up an 87 mph fastball and shot it back up the box for a hard line drive single.

Jimmy Crabtree is committed to Kent State and showed the ability to work down in the zone with all of his pitches of the course of his two innings. Working mostly off of a fastball-changeup combo, Crabtree maintained his slot well and generated late life on each pitch. His curveball showed 11-5 shape with tight rotation in the low-70s.

After running a 6.57 60-yard and throwing 95 mph across the infield, Florida State commit Joshua Lowe singled up the middle with hard contact, coming off the barrel at 100.5 mph per TrackMan.

Throwing two innings, Tennessee commit Garrett Stallings showed a nice feel for four pitches, exhibiting a strong level of pitchability Working consistently in the upper-80s with his fastball while generating solid downhill plane, Stallings showed a nice differential in life on both his slider and curveball with a quality, late fading changeup in the upper-70s.

Committed to Oregon State, right-hander Mitchell Verburg lived in the upper-80s with his fastball, peaking at 90 mph with consistent cutting action down in the zone. Showing a balanced delivery, Verburg also showed a nice slider in the 79-80 mph range while working over his front side.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, left-hander Jack Eagan ran his fastball up to 90 mph from a high three-quarter arm slot and gets on top of the ball well down in the zone. He showed the ability to work in to left-handed hitters and showed both a slider and a changeup that features nice fade down in the zone.

Committed to the University of North Carolina, right-hander Tyler Baum impressed in the opening frames of the second games this morning. Showing a quick arm action and athletic delivery, Baum ran his fastball up to 92 mph while consistently sitting in the 89-92 mph range with his fastball. His slider proved to be a quality pitch in the 77-80 mph range with late tilt and two-plane life. He also flashed a changeup up to 80 mph.

Jesus Luzardo, a strongly built left-hander took the mound opposite of Baum and showed a very impressive three-pitch mix. With his fastball up to 93 mph, Luzardo created nice angle on his fastball while living low in the zone with the pitch. His curvball showed plenty of depth in the mid-70s and he also turned over some quality changeups in the 78-82 mph range, working down with each offering.

The ball left the hand of Tobias Myers very easily this afternoon, consistently sitting in the 88-91 mph with limited effort at release. He did a nice job of commanding his fastball to either side of the plate and low in the zone while mixing in a 72-74 mph curveball with nice depth.

Braeden Ogle is a very lean and projectable 6-foot-2, 170-pound left-hander who showed interesting stuff on the mound. Currently uncommitted, Ogle topped out at 89 mph with his fastball, consistently working in the upper-80s while flashing both a changeup and curveball.

Presently uncommitted, right-hander Cooper Bradford has a strong frame which helped allow him to carry his velocity well over his two innings and from out of the stretch. Working comfortably in the 87-90 mph with a short arm action through the backside while staying balanced and online with his delivery. Getting on top of the ball well, Bradford also showed both a curveball and slider.

Rylan Thomas put a quality swing on a 90 mph fastball, staying balanced and shot it back up the middle for a hard line drive single. He also worked a quick inning to close the game out, working 90-92 mph with fast arm through the backside. His curveball showed 12-6 life with plenty of depth and a nice slider at 81 mph.

A two-sport star committed to the University of South Carolina, Brandon McIlwain has continued to impress during the showcase, running a 4.21 down the line on a ground ball. In his next at-bat McIlwain squared up a hard triple off the line showing both his strength and bat speed in his swing.

Luis Curbelo is a strong 6-foot-3, 185-pound third baseman and just as he has all showcase squared up another fastball for hard contact into center field.

Brandon Reitz, a Florida State commit, ran his fastball up to 89 mph during his two innings on the mound showing the ability to get down in the zone with his fastball. He does a nice job of working on top of the ball and showed a sharp slider in the low-to-mid-70s.

Khalil Lee, Nicholas Baldor, John Flowers all three an inning each for the Columbia Blue team. Lee, an athletic left-hander, ran his fastball up to 90 mph showing fluid mechanics and downhill plane. Baldor, a right-hander who is currently uncommitted worked in the 84-87 mph range, showing a nice feel for his breaking ball as well. Flowers also ran his fastball up to 90 mph with a loose arm action and lots of athleticism in his delivery.

Colton Welker has continued to put quality swings on live pitching with his latest hit coming on a triple down the right field line, keeping his hands in on an 88 mph fastball.

Joe Skinner did a nice job of extending his arms on an upper-80s fastball located on the outer half of the plate, lining it down the left field line for a double.

Javier Valdes turned on an inner half fastball and created one of the louder and further hit balls of the event to this point, hitting the upper part of the Green Monster, putting a dent in the wall for a standup double.

Connor Lunn, a native of California, did a nice job over his two innings of working over his front side and locating down in the with his fastball that peaked at 87, showing the ability to get down to both sides of the plate. Currently uncommitted, Lunn also showed a feel for his curveball, featuring 11-5 shape with some depth at 70 mph.

Maverick Handley paced the offense with a hard hit ball into left field, continuing to impress through the showcase after excelling behind the plate. Zachary Watson came on to run and showed off that impressive 6.44 60-speed, swiping second and third within a couple of pitches of each other.

Zac Kristofak, a right-handed pitcher committed to in-state University of Georgia, struck out three in his two innings of work. Living consistently in the upper-80s Kristofak was able to generate some downhill plane on his heater with extension out front while flashing a curveball in the mid-70s.

Jack Dashwood is a long and projectable left-hander from California who was able to miss bats and struck out 5 batters in his two innings. Running his fastball up to 89 mph with nice life down in the zone. As he continues to add strength it’s easy to envision more velocity and he also showed a consistent feel for his curveball in the mid-70s showing 1-7 shape with some depth.

Committed to Texas Christian University, Charles King threw two strong innings for the Black team, running his fastball up to 92 mph from a lower arm slot. With his slot King was able to generate solid running life to his arm side and has continued to develop his off speed offerings well. Showing a slider with late life up to 82 mph, King also showed a nice feel for a changeup in the low-80s, maintaining his slot on the pitch.

A very strong and physically built right-hander, Grant Gambrell showed an impressive feel for each of his three pitches while he was on the mound. Working comfortably in the low-90s both from the windup and stretch peaking at 92 mph with a quick and extended arm action. His changeup showed nice diving life down in the zone in the low-80s and spun a sharp curveball in the 75-76 mph range.

Cole Stobbe showed hard and loud contact on his double off the wall, clanking loudly off the Green Monster. A University of Arkansas commit, Stobbe showed well with the bat consistently getting the barrel to it.

Ray Gaither worked down in the zone with his fast for each of his two innings, sitting consistently in the 89-91 mph range before bumping 92 mph towards the end of his outing. Showign a quick arm, Gaither showed running life on his fastball as well as a nice curveball in the upper-70s.

Zachary Watson and Luke Berryhill both doubled in the top of the seventh for the Black team. Watson, who was mentioned above for his speed, turned on an inner half fastball and drove it off the Green Monster replica in left field.

Cal Coughlin, another Texas Christian commit, struck out two batters in his one inning, running his up to 92 mph and showed a hard slider at that consistently worked in the mid-80s.

After impressing with his abilities at shortstop and with his left-handed bat, Nolan Jones showed interesting two-way potential as he worked a quick inning on the mound as well. Running his fastball up to 91 mph with short life, Jones has a feel to live low in the zone and flashed a curveball at 76-77 mph.

A primary catcher, Nathan Walker showed off his impressive arm strength on the mound just as he did behind the plate. Showing off a quick arm, Walker lived in the 89-91 mph range and last a curveball in the mid-70s.

Jimmy Titus, another primary shortstop for the Black team took the mound for an inning running his fastball up to 90 mph from a difficult arm slot. He got on top of the ball well, living low and flashed a slider in the mid-70s.

Though it was a very brief look as Logan Foster worked a very quick and efficient inning, he lived in the 89-91 mph with a fast arm and heavy life down in the zone.

Dominic Fletcher (2016 OF, Cypress, CA) has made his reputation on his high level defensive tools but he also has a high level bat.  He has a big move into contact and lots of lower half use to generate very good bat speed.
 
Thomas Dillard (2016 C, Oxford, MS) is a man-child and his listed 6-0/215 size doesn't do justice to how strong he is.  Dillard is a switch-hitter with power from both sides but better extension and bat speed from the left side.

Brock Anderson (2016 OF, Huntsville, AL) is a 6-3/200 athlete who hits from a tall left handed stance and has an easy swing and present gap to gap power.  The base hitting skills, balance and shift into contact is there for him to really develop.
 
Nolan (Nonie) Williams (2016 SS, Kansas City, KS) is a natural right handed hitter who has steadily begun hitting more left handed in the last year.  The toolsy Kansas native didn't show that today; he actually looked more more natural and smooth hitting left handed and had bat speed from both sides.

I watch thousands of batting practice's a year and almost never see a home run on the first pitch, let along a 400 foot blast into the RCF bullpen at Fenway South.  It usually takes a few timing swings for even the most powerful hitters to get dialed in with their timing.  But that's what Trace Bucey (2016 OF, Corpus Christi, TX) did today.

Brandon McIlwain (2016 OF, Newton, PA) is more renowned as a high level football quarterback recruit and his right handed swing is pretty raw in it's consistency and execution.  But he has tremendous strength when he squares the ball up and lots of high end baseball potential.

Matt Mervis (2016 3B, Potomac, MD) is listed at 6-4/230 and fills up the left handed batter's box nicely.  He keeps his swing admirably short and direct for a big athlete and really squared the ball up, often with big bat speed and power.

Alex Kirilloff (2016 1B, New Kensington, PA) has a long leg pull back load and a busy swing but is very well timed for his swing's complexity and creates plus bat speed from the left side.  He really squared the ball up well and with power.
 
There were lots of home runs today but only one player left the yard three times that I saw and that was Mario Feliciano (2016 C, Hato Rey, PR).  The right handed hitter has a big coil load that gets his lower half into play and a long extended swing that really gets lift when he can get his hands away from his body.

Max Guzman (2016 3B, Miami, FL) takes a very singular home run/power approach at the plate but he's fun to watch because when he squares it up and is well timed, as he was a couple of times, he can hit it further probably than anyone else in Fort Myers right now.
 
Seth Beer (2016 OF, Suwanee, GA) has easy, easy left handed bat speed and the natural ability to impart lots of backspin on the baseball.  That means his drives to right centerfield stay in the air for a long time and land a long ways away.

Grant Bodison (2016 SS, Simpsonville, SC) is got significantly stronger over the last year and it shows in his right handed bat speed.  He had lots of lift in his swing today but we've seen him stay over the ball and drive it before as well.

Ben Rortvedt (2016 C, New Glarus, WI) has a very short and direct swing from the left side of the plate and really stood out for his ability to square the ball up hard every time up.  Edward "EP" Reese (2016 OF, Lexington, NC) ironically hit right before Rortvedt in the BP line up and did pretty much the exact same thing, with a level line drive swing and very hard and consistent line drive contact.

Avery Tuck (2016 OF, San Diego, CA) is a 6-5/195 left handed hitter who is a very graceful and projectable athlete.  He has a low effort swing that creates very impressive bat speed and carry on the ball and he isn't anywhere close to getting strong.
 
Joe Rizzo (2016 3B, Oak Hill, VA) has been long known as a high level performer in WWBA tournament games but he really impressed today with his tools and raw bat speed from the left side of the plate.
 
Andres P. Sosa (2016 SS, San Antonio, TX) hits from a straight left handed stance with a very simple and short swing.  He has big jump when he squares the ball up from exploding his hands at the ball with consistently perfect timing.
 
Walker Robbins (2016 LHP, Leakesville, MS) is a primary left handed pitcher but he had my favorite hitting mechanics and execution of the afternoon.  He has a beautiful shift into contact with very good balance and present bat speed.  He has a chance to be a high level hitter; we'll wait to see how he performs on the mound.

Tristan Duncan continuously gave hitters a different look on the mound and in doing so showed off his athleticism. Getting up to 90 mph with his fastball from a more traditional three-quarter arm slot, the Oregon commit showed the ability to drop down to side arm where he peaked at 88 mph with sharp running life to his arm side. He also showed a changeup at 83 mph and a consistent curveball in the mid-to-upper-70s.

The top prospect in the 2016 class, right-hander Riley Pint showed an easy and loose arm action that helped produce a fastball that peaked at 96 mph in both his innings and showed the same mid-90s out of the stretch. His fastball shows nice life on it when down in the zone with plenty of athleticism in his delivery. Flashing a changeup in his second inning of work at 84 mph with fade to his arm side, Pint also showed a feel for a low-80s curveball that had solid depth and late break to it.

Jimmy Titus and Carter Kieboom both put quality swings on mid-90s fastball, each squaring up a fastball for a hard single back through the box.

Brenden Heiss came out attacking with his fastball early and missed plenty of bats in the process. Working comfortably in the 91-94 mph range peaking at 95 with nice running life down to his glove side. Doing a nice job of working over his front side, Heiss lived low in the zone with his fastball with the ability to get to both sides of the plate. The University of Arkansas commit also showed a straight changeup at 84 mph and an upper-70s curveball. He struck out 5 in his outing.

Matt Rowland has a long and lean build that projects well as he continues to add strength to his athletic 6-foot-3 frame. Running his fastball up to 90 mph, the Kennesaw State commit comfortably lived in the upper-80s with his fastball, showing a steady curveball in the mid-70s.

A UCLA commit, Kevin Gowdy showed big downhill plane on his fastball consistently living at the knees with his fastball that peaked at 94 mph, showing a lot of 93s in the first inning. With a long and projectable 6-foot-4 frame Gowdy is able to generate his velocity rather easily and without much effort. To go along with his fastball, Gowdy showed a hard breaking ball in the low-80s that featured hard, late life around from right-handed hitters. Rounding out the arsenal was a solid 81-82 mph changeup that featured late fade down in the zone.

Preston Price worked the fifth and sixth innings for the Gold team, showing a short arm action through the backside. Peaking at 87 mph with his fastball, the University of Arizona commit also showed a nice feel for his breaker in the mid-70s, showing  tight rotation with depth.

Cole Stobbe continues to put together a nice showcase, turning on an inside fastball down the left field line for a stand up double.

Maverick Handley put a quality swing on a right-handed curveball, keeping his weight back on his swing, driving it to the right-centerfield gap for a standup triple.

Trey Morgan drove in two runs for the black team in the bottom of the seventh, going with an outer pitch and drove it into right field for a hard line drive single.

Davis Daniel is an athletic right-hander committed to the North Carolina State and showed some interesting stuff of his own on the mound. Running his fastball up to 92 mph from his three quarter arm slot, sitting mostly 88-91, Davis also dropped down to submarine, giving the hitters a different look working in the upper-70s. Both pitches showed nice life down, as did his curveball that worked in the mid-70s from the three-quarter slot.

Kevin Roliard came out showing impressive arm stretch, running his fastball up to 94 mph early before settling into the low-90s with hard sinking life when down in the zone. Committed to the University of Texas, Roliard has a lean, athletic frame with a quick arm coming through at release. Though working mostly off his fastball, Roliard did shows a curveball in the 78-80 mph range.

Will Ethridge (2016 RHP, Lilburn, GA) is a long and projectable right-handed pitcher who really showed a feel for the strike zone during his two innings of work. Listed at 6-foot-5, the Mississippi commit pounding the lower half of the strike zone with an upper-80s fastball that peaked at 90 mph showing some sink and running life down. His changeup was a quality pitch in the 82-84 mph range showing similar life to his fastball paired with a slider in the low-80s.

Alek Manoah (2016 1B, Homestead, FL) has a strong and physical presence and he uses that to his advantage on the mound, running his fastball up to 94 mph while working comfortably in the low-90s. With an extended arm action and a lower three-quarter slot, Manoah does a nice job of working his fastball down in the zone with running life to his arm side. Aside from a big heater, the uncommitted Manoah showed a feel for both an 81 mph changeup and a sharper mid-70s curveball.

Chase Cheek (2016 OF, Orlando, FL) impressed after running the best 60-yard dash yesterday at a 4.40 and this morning showed off his barrel skills for loud contact on an 89 mph fastball, pulling it through the right side for a hard hit single

Graham Ashcraft (2016 RHP, Brownsboro, AL), another uncommitted arm, came out firing for the Columbia Blue team touching 93 mph a few time while working comfortably in the low-90s from an extended three-quarter arm slot with big life to his arm side. Adding to an uncomfortable at-bat, Ashcraft showed the ability to drop down to an almost side arm slot in the upper-80s and did show while locating to either side of the plate. His curveball showed some late depth at 75-77 mph and showed a changeup at 82 mph.

Committed to the University of South Carolina, left-hander Johnathan Jahn (2016 LHP, Augusta, GA) worked comfortably in the 85-88 mph range with his fastball with nice angle coming from the first base side. Getting his fastball down in the zone, Jahn was able to induce half of his outs via ground ball while striking out another two with his three pitch mix.

Khalil Lee (2016 OF, Centreville, VA) continues to swing it well, picking up another hard hit ball in his second game, squaring a ball up the middle for a hard ground ball single.

Ross Korosec (2016 RHP, Winter Springs, FL) was in control for his two innings on the mound, consistently living low in the zone with all three offerings. Peaking at 88 mph with his fastball, the South Florida commit showed nice running life to his arm side. His changeup was a quality offering in the 79-81 mph range and when couple with his 11-5 curveball, Korosec was able to generate consistent ground ball contact along with the ability to miss bats.

Todd Peterson (2016 RHP, Lake Mary, FL) has a strong 6-foot-5 frame and showed some impressive stuff on the mound to back it up. Running his fastball up the 92 mph with heavy life and running life to his arm side, Peterson showed the ability to locate well down to his glove side. A Louisiana State commit, Peterson showed a nice feel for his mid-70s curveball and flashed a changeup to his arm side at 82 mph.

Justin Glover (2016 LHP, Buford, GA) and Cole Ragans (2016 LHP, Crawfordville, FL) are two left-handers who closed out the game for each of their teams. Glover is a University of Georgia commit who worked in the 84-88 mph range with his fastball from a high three-quarter with extension. He showed a big curveball up to 76 mph with depth and also flashed a changeup in the mid-70s.

Ragans is committed to Florida State and worked two quick innings of his own. Throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot, Ragans worked steadily in the 90-91 mph range, peaking at 92 with downhill plane while showing the ability to hold the velocity out of the stretch. Working to his arm side well, Ragans also showed a nice feel for his curveball in the low-70s and turned over a nice changeup at 74 mph.

After running an impressive 6.52 60-yard dash, Andrew Daschbach (2016 3B, Atherton, CA) squared up an inner half 86 mph fastball for a loud double down the left field line.

Carter Kieboom (2016 3B, Marietta, GA) had the highest BP grades of the day, consistently hitting hard line drives with carry from a loose, hand driven swing that resembles what top Dodgers prospect Corey Seager looked like from the left side when he was at the PG National.  Kieboom continued to swing the bat well in the afternoon game with 2 hits.

Jordan McFarland (2016 OF, Waterloo, IL) is one of the strongest players in Fort Myers this week and drove some balls deep.  He's not always consistent in his timing and swing but when it comes together the ball flies.

Cole Stobbe (2016 SS, Omaha, NE) keeps things simple and direct in his right handed swing.  He makes solid contact to all fields and consistently drives the ball hard.

Khalil Lee (2016 OF, Centreville, VA) had a solid Wednesday in virtually every area, including BP.  He has an easy left handed swing that early concentrated on hard line drive contact, then opened up the last few swings for some real power.

Luis A. Curbelo (2016 SS, Carolina, PR) has a nice 6-3/185 build that is very projectable.  He moves in very well to contact and has good balance and lots of bat speed, tools he used to lift two balls out of jetBlue Park.

Zachary Watson (2016 SS, Ruston, LA) doesn't look like he'd have lots of bat speed and power at 6-0/165 but he has great sync between his upper and lower halves and strong hands.  He has easy loft in his swing and the ball jumps hard.
 
Camyrn Williams (2016 SS, Lutz, FL) is a switch hitter with tools from both sides of the plate.  He's especially good from the right side with a well loaded swing the aggressive bat speed.

Aaron Schunk (2016 SS, Decatur, GA) hits with a double tap load with a short and quick right handed swing.  He gets the ball in the air consistently and has easy power in his 6-2/178 frame.  Schunk showed that easy power in games as well with a double over the centerfielder's head.

Colton Welker (2016 SS, Coral Springs, FL) has a big boned 6-2/195 build that may eventually push him over to third base but he also has lots of strength in his right handed swing.  He drives the ball to all fields and looks to have a feel for the barrel.

Eric Rivera (2016 OF, West Park, FL) has a very simple right handed approach from an open tall stance.  He peppered the left field wall with consistent hard line drive contact.

Rylan Thomas (2016 3B, Winter Garden, FL) reminds this scout of Joe Davis, a top 2015 hitting prospect.  Both are 6-0/225 with lots of strength and nice right handed swings that square up the ball consistently and drive it hard with loft.

Alvaro Valdez (2016 OF, Miami, FL) has a short high average approach from the left side with very quick hands that enable him to hit the ball deep in the zone and hit it hard consistently.

Nolan Jones (2016 SS, Langhorne, PA) is a long and graceful athlete at 6-5/195 but keeps his swing admirably short and quick for his size.  He's extremely projectable in all ways.

Andrew Daschbach (2016 3B, Atherton, CA) has a big 6-3/210 build and a strong right handed swing that creates hard gap to gap contact.  He explodes his hands at the ball with power and authority and makes loud contact.

Bryse Wilson (2016 RHP, Hillsborough, NC) was more than effective in his two innings on the mound, living comfortably in the 91-93 mph rang, peaking at 94 mph with his fastball. He shows a quick right arm coming through the backside with the ability to consistently live down in the zone, featuring late life to his arm side. Though he worked primarily off his fastball, the University of North Carolina commit also showed a late fading changeup at 82 mph and a slider at 77 mph.

Jordan Balazovic (2016 RHP, Mississauga, ON) is a long and loose right-hander from Canada with a whippy arm action through the backside, topping at 90 mph while working comfortably in the upper-80s. He showed the ability to get down to his glove side and did so while showing a feel for his off speed.

Colton Welker (2016 SS, Coral Springs, FL) kept his weight back and put a really nice swing on a right-handed slider, driving the pitch to the opposite field gap for a standup double, showing a short and quick path to the ball.

JJ Bleday (2016 LHP, Panama City Beach, FL) and Kyle Muller (2016 LHP, Dallas, TX) are two left-handers who matched up for the third and fourth innings with each showing interesting stuff on the mound. Bleday, a Vanderbilt commit whose athleticism was on display earlier in the day with batting practice, showed a fastball up to 87 mph with a nice feel for his curveball that showed nice depth down in the zone. In the opposite dugout was Muller, a University of Texas commit, who throws from a high three-quarter ran his fastball up to 90 mph creating solid angle with the ability to get to his glove side and bust right-handed hitters in. He also featured a big curveball in the low-to-mid 70s with depth and nice feel for it. Muller ended up with three strikeouts on the day. 

Aaron Schunk (2016 SS, Decatur, GA) made a nice play up the middle in the top of the fourth, showing off quick feet and solid athleticism to pick a ball and delivery an off balance strike to first base. Stepping into the box in the next inning, Schunk squared up an 87 mph for some of the louder contact of the day to dead center field for a standup double.

Travis Marr (2016 RHP, Castle Rock, CO) was another right-handers from Colorado and ran his fastball up to 90 mph while sitting comfortably in the upper-80s. Uncommitted, Marr showed a nice feel for both his curveball in the mid-70s and his changeup that worked consistently at 80 mph. He throws from an extended three-quarter slot and does a nice job of working down in the zone with each offering.

Wyatt Tyson (2016 RHP, Red Lion, PA) is a 6-foot-2 right-hander committed to Campbell University who worked the fifth and sixth innings for the Gold team. Showing a balanced delivery, Tyson worked in the 85-88 mph range with his fastball, showing life on the pitch with the ability to work down in the zone. Complementing his fastball, the Pennsylvania native showed a 12-6 curveball with some depth in the mid-70s.

Nathan Sweeney (2016 RHP, Centennial, CO) rounded out the first day of impressive arms out of Colorado, working in the 88-91 mph range with his fastball, peaking at 92. He shows a fast right arm coming through the backside and does a nice job of getting on top of the ball. Working mostly off of his fastball, the uncommitted Sweeney also showed a 12-6 curveball in the low-70s that served as a put away pitch.

Closing out the day on what was a pitcher dominated game, University of North Carolina commit Gianluca Dalatri (2016 RHP, Wall, NJ) pounded the bottom half of the strike zone with a three pitch mix. Working in the 88-90 mph range comfortably while touching 91 from an easy and extended three-quarter arm slot, Dalatri also showed a slider up to 79 mph and a low-to-mid-70s curveball. Over two innings, Dalatri collected an impressive five strikeouts.

Though it goes down in the book as an L5, Florida Atlantic commit Pedro Pages (2016 C, Doral, FL) kept his weight back well and barreled up a 73 mph curveball, coming off that bat at 101 mph according to TrackMan.

Black vs. Columbia Blue

Mitchell Miller (2016 LHP, Covington, GA) is going to be an interesting arm to follow moving forward given his highly projectable 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame with impressive stuff to match. Working with an up-tempo delivery, Miller shows a fast and loose left arm from a lower three-quarter slot, creating nice velocity and difficult angle on hitters. Running his fastball up to 89 mph while sitting consistently in the upper-80s while showing the ability to work down in the zone. To complement his fastball, the Mississippi State commit featured three different off speed pitches with his changeup featuring some late fade in the in the 78-80 mph range.

Carter Kieboom (2016 3B, Marietta, GA) followed up an impressive round of batting practice with a quality in game swing off of Zach Linginfelter. Keeping his weight back on an 80 mph slider and squaring it up down the left field line for a standup double. He followed up with a single off the glove of the diving first baseman, giving him a two hit game.

Zach Linginfelter (2016 RHP, Sevierville, TN) captured the attention of scouts in the first inning when he came out pumping 92-95 mph fastball with life to the lower quadrants of the strike zone. With a strong and athletic build, the University of Tennessee commit filled up the zone with his heater along with both a slider and changeup. Maintaining his slot on both, each pitch projects well moving forward with a slider at 80 showing short and late fading life while his change in the mid-80s.

Nolan Jones (2016 SS, Langhorne, PA) began the day with a nice defensive play at shortstop while charging in on a ground ball deflected off the pitcher’s glove and delivering an off balance strike to first base.

Alex Speas (2016 RHP, Powder Springs, GA) came out throwing the ball and everybody in attendance took notice. Sitting comfortably in the mid-90s over his two innings while peaking at 97 mph, Speas showed a loose and easy arm action coming from a balanced delivery. With a long and projectable frame, Speas showed the ability to work downhill with his fastball, getting to his glove side and showing life on the pitch. His curveball also developed throughout his two innings with the last couple he snapped off being his best, up to 82 mph with sharp break and nice depth.

Khalil Lee (2016 OF, Centreville, VA) followed up an impressive round of batting practice with a line drive single into left field, lining an outer half fastball for a hard line drive knock. 

Karl Kauffmann (2016 RHP, Bloomfield Hills, MI) impressed for his two innings of work, showing one of the easiest arm actions of the day en route to producing top velocity of 93 mph with angle and downhill plane. Maintaining from the stretch, Kauffmann worked comfortably in the low-90s throughout his outing and did so while showing a nice feel for both his curveball and changeup. 

After throwing an impressive 95 mph from the outfield in the drills portion of the workout, Jaren Shelby (2016 OF, Lexington, KY) showed a nice two-strike approach as he simply flicked his wrists on an upper-80s fastball, finding the barrel and squaring it up into center field.

The state of Colorado was well represented on the mound as four of the eight arms to throw hail from the Centennial State. University of North Carolina commit Bo Weiss (2016 RHP, Castle Rock, CO) was the first to take the mound Working exclusively out of the stretch, Weiss ran his fastball up to 91 mph while working steadily in the upper-80s from a high three-quarter slot, showing the ability to work down in the strike zone. 

Right-handers Austin Wood (2016 RHP, Niwot, CO) and Jake Eissler (2016 RHP, Littleton, CO) squared off for their two innings, each showing quality stuff on the mound. With a fastball that ran up to 91 mph, Wood consistently lived in the bottom part of the strike zone with some cutting life while mixing in both a curveball and changeup. A Texas Christian Unviersity commit, Eissler was very quick and efficient on the mound, sitting in the 87-89 mph with downhill plane. While he threw he fastball for a majority of his strikes, Eissler displayed a strong feel for a late fading changeup in the 78-80 mph range.

Rounding out the quartet of arms was right-hander Paul Tillotson (2016 RHP, Monument, CO), a University of Nebraska commit who was more than efficient in his two innings on the mound. Pounding low to his glove side regularly with his fastball that sat in the 88-90 mph range, Tillotson showed a 12-6 curveball and an upper-70s changeup.

Camyrn Williams (2016 SS, Lutz, FL) made a nice play at shortstop in the bottom of the eighth inning for his Columbia Blue team, showing quick feet and solid range up the middle with a jump step throw with his weight taking him away from the bag to get the runner.
