It’s taken scouts, including the Perfect Game staff, a bit longer than usual to figure out Florida high school right-hander Tyler Danish. But that’s understandable in that Danish, ranked No. 30 in the latest Perfect Game 2013 class rankings, has nothing that is usual about his pitching mechanics and doesn’t profile in the same way as a normal high school right hander.

Danish was a 6-foot, 170-pound primary third baseman as a sophomore in high school and when he took the mound threw from a standard high three-quarters release point. The story goes that while messing around in the bullpen one day, he tried throwing from more of a low three-quarters to side arm slot and all of a sudden not only was he throwing harder but the ball was diving at the plate. The conversion was almost instantaneous.
