JUPITER, Fla. -- With Hurricane Sandy barreling over the Bahamas and pelting the Florida coast with heavy rain and wind, much of the first day at the PG WWBA World Championship was shelved.

That didn’t keep us from making the rounds with many of college baseball’s coaches and catching at least some of the early tournament action.

JUPITER OBSERVATIONS

* Missouri 2013 commitment, righthanded pitcher Devin Williams, had scouts buzzing in one of the early games in the day. Williams, a lean 6-foot-3, 165-pounder, was very impressive in his start, sitting 91-92, topping out at 93 with his fastball. He also had an 81-82 changeup with a cutter coming in at 85.
