CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Starting Tuesday, July 31, 44 of the top travel teams in the country will compete in the 14u, 15u and 16u PG World Series. The three tournaments will be played simultaneously at the East Cobb Complex in Marrieta, Ga. and a couple area high schools.

This year marks the inaugural PG World Series. In the 17u World Series held last week in Peoria, Ariz., South Florida Elite Squad outlasted a field of 16 teams to win the tournament. This week, 12 teams in the 14u division, as well as 16 squads in the 15u and 16u age groups will try to do the same.

Perfect Game All-American and the No. 3 ranked player in the 2013 class, Justin Williams, will lead a star-studded Marucci Elite team in the 16u tournament that also includes Alex Lange (ranked No. 34 in the 2014 class), Keith Weisenberg (No. 45), Kirvin Moesquit (No. 49) and John Thomas Mauldin (No. 51).

Terry McClure, ranked No. 30 in the 2013 class, will lead an East Cobb Braves 16u team that also includes the No. 22 ranked player in the 2014 class, Kel Johnson.

Other 2014 top prospects playing in the 16u tournament include: Stone Garrett (Houston Banditos, No. 11), Justin Twine (Houston Banditos, No. 19), Grant Holmes (Diamond Devils, No. 28), John Jones and Jonah Girand (Orlando Scorpions, No. 33 and No. 35), Dalton Guthrie (Florida Burn, No. 37) and Joseph Gatto (Indiana Prospects, No. 43).

The tournaments begin July 31 and run through Aug. 5. Each team in the 14u event will play five pool games (and two consolation games if they don't make the playoffs), while the 15u and 16u teams will play seven games. The top four squads in each age division will compete for the World Series title on Sunday, with the winners of the 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. semifinals matching up in the 2:00 p.m. championship game.

Game scores and blogs will be available on the website as the tournament progresses. For fans interested in attending, a tournament pass will cost ($40). The cost per day (good for all games on one day) will be ($10). Programs will be available for ($5).
