WWBA 17U: Dissecting Day 6

The Perfect Game WWBA 17U Championships continued in Marietta, Ga., on Wednesday with the playoffs beginning in the nightcap slate of games. And just like the previous days of the tournament, the action was filled with excitement and there were several big-time performances.


In our quest to breakdown some of the top performances each day from the tournament, here's an inside look at some key players throughout the day who also happen to be commitments or signees with Division I programs.

Marucci Elite 2, Double Day Giants 0

* LSU 2013 commit, RHP Jarret DeHart, threw an inning of relief work in the victory, striking out all three batters he faced. Meanwhile, fellow Tigers commit, RHP Alden Cartwright, struck out two in an inning of work. DeHart was 86-88 FB, 72-73 CV with good life on his fastball. Cartwright was 84-85 FB, 70-72 CV.

Lexington Baseball Club 17U 5, Longshots Baseball-Navy

* Clemson 2013 commit, two-way player Cody Smith, struck out five, walked three, and allowed two runs on three hits in four innings of work. Stuff-wise, he was 82-86 FB, 71-73 CV, 72-74 SL, 73-74 CH.
