The 16u and 18u East Memorial Day Classic wind down to its final day on Monday with each division sporting eight championship contenders. First, a look at the 16u division.

The four semifinal games feature a mix of usual suspects and up and comers. The first quarterfinal faces SWFL 16u vs. Orlando Scorpions 2015s, a matchup of the best Southwest Florida against Orlando. Two teams from the FTB organization advanced to the quarterfinals with the Royal 16u team taking on the Jacksonville Royals Blue, and FTB Black 16u going against the Jacksonville Royals White.

The fourth and final 16u quarterfinal game features Hit and Run Baseball 16u from North Tampa against Florida Burn Orange from the Venice/Sarasota region.

While the 16u bracket features a mix of teams and players from all over the state of Florida, the 18u bracket features teams from Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville as well as the Upstate Mavericks from South Carolina and the Dirtbags from North Carolina.

The Dirtbags advanced into the semifinal round with a thrilling 8-7 walk-off tiebreaker win against FTB Chandler. They face Orlando Scorpions 17u Purple in the first semifinal in a game featuring two of the tournament’s most talented teams.

Chet Lemon’s Juice used a 16 strikeout complete game from Dylan Barrow to advance to Monday when the face Hardcore Baseball Black featuring a loaded roster of players from Miami.

Another quarterfinal game has Orlando Scorpions Underclass Purple, one of the rising 2014 and 2015 teams in the country against FTB Pride, which has a very talented roster highlighted by their up the middle combination of Florida State commit Oscar Mercado and Florida commit Christian Arroyo.

The CBC Riverhawks 17u from Jacksonville and Upstate Mavericks 18u is another quarterfinal contest featuring the top travel teams from their respective areas, each featuring multiple division one players.

Quarterfinals of both the 16u and 18u divisions begin at 9 am with semifinals at 11:30. The 18u championship will be played at 2 with the 16u championship to follow at 4:30 pm both played at the Stadium at Jet Blue Park, also known as Fenway South and the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox.
