We’re now in early April and plenty has cleared up in lining up the 2011 draft class since the spring season began in February.

Unless this is the first article you’ve read on the draft this spring, you’ve probably heard that the 2011 draft class has an extraordinary amount of top flight pitching talent.

One of the historical rules of the draft is that college pitching trumps all other positions when it comes to where most teams want to spend their first round money. It would surprise no one if six college pitchers went among the first 10 selections and it’s easy to create a scenario where seven or even eight are picked before Houston’s pick in the 11th slot. The talent pool has plenty of quantity to go with quality and teams will be both surprised and pleased with some of the arm
