WWBA Memorial Day Classic Wrap-Up

The Shockers win the 16U Championship by a score of 2-1 in 8 innings over the Cyclones. The Cyclones would get on the board early in their first at-bat when Andrew Brodbeck singled to lead-off the game. He would later score on a Michael Boriboun single. The Shockers would tie the game in the third inning when Einar Muniz walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a pass ball. Three pitches later he would score on a wild pitch. There would be no scoring until the bottom of the 8th when Muniz singled in the winning run to claim the championship. James Herget earned the win throwing all 8 innings allowing one run on three hits, while striking out three
 
The Pokers win the 18U Championship by defeating Chet Lemon's Juice by a score of 4-3. The Pokers got three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. The rally was capped by Adam Kam's RBI double.  The Juice would answer back with two runs of their own when Jabori Henry tripled in both runs. Kyle Simon would score what ended up being the winning run in the bottom of the third on an error by the second baseman. Eric Pfefer earned the win throwing 6.1 innings, giving up two earned runs, while scattering nine hits. He also added two strikeouts.
 
Adam Kam from the Pokers was named Tournament MVP. In the championship game Kam was 2-3 with a single, double, an RBI, and a run scored. For the tournament Kam was 9-20 with 3 doubles, 4 runs scored, 5 RBI, 2 walks, and a hit-by-pitch.

Ben Nelson from Chet Lemon's Juice was named Most Valuable Pitcher. Nelson threw 8 innings, didn't allow a run, struckout 9 batters, allowed 2 hits, and won both games.
