Promising Start for Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase

Jim Ecker

DELMAR, MD. – The new Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase is off to a good start.

A total of 82 players from 12 states have registered for this new event on the Perfect Game circuit, to be held Jan. 30-31 at the Diamond Dreams Athletic Performance and Fitness Center in Delmar, Md. The strong turnout demonstrates the high level of interest in holding a showcase in the Mid-Atlantic region at this time of year.

The players are coming from Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, South Carolina, New York, Tennessee, West Virginia and Connecticut. This is a one-day showcase, so the players will participate on Saturday or Sunday, but not both days.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. both days, with the workouts starting at 9 a.m.

The players will be evaluated in the 40-yard dash, outfield throw, infield throw, first baseman’s throw, catcher pop times, batting practice and batting against live pitching. A full scouting report on each player will be posted on the Perfect Game web sites for college coaches and pro scouts to see.

The Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase was added this year in order to bring a Perfect Game event to a new part of the country. Based on the response, it’s a success already.
