UCLA

Creating roster depth on the position player side has been UCLA's priority as key lineup injuries have affected several recent seasons in a big way.  This freshman class is a huge step in the right direction as this may be the deepest class of position players John Savage has brought in since the 2005 recruiting class that was headlined by Brandon Crawford.

Redshirt sophomore Nick Valaika missed all of the last year with a hand injury but he is finally healthy and was arguably the Bruins' best player this fall.  Valaika is a premium defender at shortstop and the last time UCLA had a Valaika in the middle of the field they won the 2013 National Championship.

Two freshmen who have the upside of being stars in the Pac-12 are Michael Toglia and Chase Strumpf.  Toglia is a switch-hitter with massive power and Strumpf profiles as an offensive second baseman with an all-fields approach and extremely high baseball IQ.
