14u Championship Game Recap

Jordan Posway
After an 8-0 drubbing of the previously undefeated KBC 14u Blue, the East Cobb Astros have been crowned the undisputed 2015 PG Super25 14u National Champions! Josiah Miller turned in a phenomenal performance from the mound. The Astros’ ace rendered the KBC offense useless, striking out five in a complete game shut-out.

Courtesy of Chayce Bryant’s first inning sacrifice fly, the Astros jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. The KBC Blue managed to get a few runners on base, but excellent defense by the Astros left them stranded. The Astros would catch fire in the third inning, as Jack Alexander and Steele Chambers connected for a pair of RBI doubles.

Chambers continued to swing a hot bat in the ensuing inning. He concluded his three RBI performance with a two-run single to centerfield.  The Astros accumulated two more runs in the fourth inning courtesy of Justin Wrobleski’s sacrifice fly and an infield error by the KBC Blue.

The Astros flourished when the stakes were highest, as evidenced by their pair of shut-out victories over the Kentucky Prospects and KBC Blue in the championship bracket. With convincing victories over the finest teams the tournament had to offer, the East Cobb Astros left no doubt that they are the rightful 2015 PG Super25 National Champions.
