White v. Royal Game Highlights >>

6/16/2015 4:00:29 PM

Triston Casas (2019 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) has stung the ball at the plate throughout the event, and he showed well on the mound in this contest. The big right hander hit 87 mph and sat in the 84-86 range with his fastball. He shows an extremely advanced feel for his delivery given his size and youth. Casas also mixed in a curveball with 12/6 shape, which flashed solid spin and depth.

Cooper Swanson (2017 SS, Fort Myers, FL)also has hit a number of balls hard this week, and he showed some arm strength off the mound as well.  The Vanderbilt commit hides the ball pretty well in his delivery and has a loose, quick arm. His fastball sat in the 86-88 mph range and topped out at 89. He also worked in a tight curveball in the 72-74 mph range.

Zach Koch (2017 C, Tampa, FL) worked a clean inning on the mound. The primary catcher has room to get stronger and add muscle to his frame. He shows solid running action on his mid-80s fastball that proved tough for hitters to barrel. He also shows good feel for his 12/6 curveball with tight rotation. Koch also stung the ball at the plate, barreling a ball for a single up the middle.

Mark Vientos (2017 SS, Pembroke Pines, FL) showed solid defensive skills both in the infield and outfield. He showed soft hands and easy actions at shortstop on a couple of different plays, and also made a good play while patrolling left field, charging in and displaying good range to get to a softly hit ball near the line.

Brad Czerniejewski (2017 OF, Lake Forest, IL) picked up an outfield assist while playing right field.  He charged well on a groundball hit thru the right side and did a great job of fielding out in front, working through the ball, and delivering an on-line and accurate throw with carry to gun down a runner who was trying to score from second base.

Shane Muntz (2017 C, Phoenixville, PA) showed good balance, hands, strength and feel for the barrel at the plate. He did a good job of staying with a fastball on the outer third and driving the ball into right field for a well-struck single.

Joseph Perez (2017 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) came in late to work one inning on the mound and the big physical 6-foot-2, 210 pound righthander ran his fastball up to 90 mph, working more consistently in the 86-88 mph range.

Andres Santana (2017 3B, Miami, FL) had a very good round of batting practice yesterday and he showed off some bat speed and feel for the barrel with a hard-hit single to left field on an upper-80s fastball.

Red v. Texas Orange Highlights >>

6/16/2015 2:22:55 PM

Robert Touron (2017 RHP, Miami, FL) came out of the gates strong, pumping in 90-92 mph fastballs early and showing an aggressive, confident approach.  He mainly challenged hitters with the fastball, but also mixed in a breaking ball in the low-70s that flashed late bite and solid depth. He struck out three in his two innings of work.

Evan Hooper (2017 OF, Cabot, AR) is a good overall athlete with a live body, and even though he’s a primary outfielder, he also shows some tools on the mound.  While he is still sharpening his command, Hooper varies his arm angles, typically using a sidearm slot, but he also shows some comfort is using the more traditional high ¾ arm slot.  His fastball works in the 85-87 mph range from both angles and he flashes the ability to throw a sweeping breaking ball.

Brandon Knarr (2017 LHP, York, PA) showed a nice feel for three pitches.  The southpaw ran his fastball up to 86 mph and showed solid feel for a sweeping breaking ball with 2/8 shape and good depth.  He also mixed in a low-70s changeup to keep hitters of balance. He struck out four in his three innings pitched.

Ryan Vilade (2017 SS, Frisco, TX) was impressive both in the batter’s box and on the mound. The Oklahoma State commit showed off solid bat speed, strength, and feel for the barrel by launching a ball off of the Green Monster in left center field for a standup double.  He just missed a homerun by a few feet.  He also worked a clean inning of work on the mound, using a lower ¾ arm slot and mixing in his 83-85 mph fastball and quality, deceptive changeup.

Zachary DeLoach (2017 RHP, Lewisville, TX) had two hits in the contest.  The lefthanded hitting DeLoach showed an advanced approach and good hands by sitting back on a breaking ball from Brandon Knarr and serving it into the opposite field for a double.

Miguel Reyes (2017 3B, Lafayette, LA) is a primary outfielder, but he showed off some arm strength on the mound.  He has an effortful delivery, but he consistently worked his fastball in the 87-89 mph range in his one inning of work. He also flashed a tight breaking ball at 74 mph.

Texas Orange v. White (Game 2) Highlights >>

6/16/2015 12:29:17 PM

Darion Jacoby (2017 OF, Pottsville, PA) and Jacob Steinberg (2018 SS, Germantown, MD) both had solid at-bats and fouled off tough pitches before barreling up balls for base hits.  Jacoby had an extended battle with Dalton Terrell (2017 RHP, Jacksonville, FL) and after fouling off numerous pitches, squared up a ball and hit a line drive that richocheted off of the second baseman’s glove.

Steinberg also worked the count and fouled off a few pitches before turning on a fastball in the inner half and driving a double down the left field line.

Zachary DeLoach (2017 RHP, Lewisville, TX) did a solid job of mixing in four pitches and struck out five in two innings of work. His fastball sat in the 83-85 mph range early, and his changeup, curveball, and upper-70s slider were all effective secondary pitches.

Angel Tiburcio (2018 RHP, Wellington, FL) showed some good tailing action and late life on his 82-85 mph fastball.  He struck out three batters in his two innings and got a handful of whiffs on the offering.

Austin Perrin (2017 LHP, Boutte, LA) pounded the strike zone in his two innings. He was very aggressive and challenged hitters with his solid three pitch mix, showing feel for a curveball with a 1/7 shape and good depth and a fading changeup that he located well in the bottom half of the strike zone.

Cooper Swanson (2017 SS, Fort Myers, FL) again showed off bat speed and solid feel for the barrel in driving a single to right center field on a fastball out the outer third.

Joe Lancellotti (2017 OF, Bensalem, PA) struck out four batters over two innings. He displayed an impressive fastball that sat in 89-92 mph range with late life and also worked in a solid mid-70’s curveball with 11/5 shape that flashed good depth and late bite.

Xavier Edwards (2018 SS, Wellington, FL) showcased his good foot speed, getting down to first base in 3.8 seconds on a jailbreak bunt.

Michael Pelaez (2017 1B, Tampa, FL) has a large frame and physical build. He is a primary 1B, but showed some arm strength on the mound, working with an 85-89 mph that comes out clean and easy from his compact arm-action.

Royal v. Red (Game 2) Highlights >>

6/16/2015 9:44:45 AM

Griffin Doersching (2017 1B, Greendale, WI) was the latest victim of Kyle Jacobsen (2017 OF, Acworth, GA).  Doerschering drove a fastball over the middle of the plate deep into left center field and it looked like it would be certain extra bases, but Jacobsen--for the second straight game—showed off some defensive tools as he made a good read off of the bat, took an efficient route and showed off his speed and athleticism by tracking down the ball and leaping to make the catch.

Zachary Dreznin (2017 RHP, Saddle River, NJ) ran his fastball up to 88 and worked comfortably in the 85-87 mph range over the course of his two innings. The physical, 6-foot-3, 210 pound righty also worked in a change up and low-70s breaking ball.

Brendan Murphy (2017 LHP, Mundelein, IL) struck out two in his two innings. The lean, projectable lefty shows a loose arm with solid, developing arm speed and ran his fastball up to 86 mph.  He showed an ability to locate the offering, and also work in his low-70s breaking ball and a fading changeup effectively.

Austin Mihlbauer (2017 LHP, Mukwonago, WI) struck out the side in his first inning of work. He ended up striking out four in two innings. The athletic lefty uses a lower arm slot and generates good life on his 85-88 mph fastball. He also showed solid feel for a low-80s changeup that had good diving action below the knees.

Alexander Hernandez (2017 C, Miramar, FL) drove a double into left center field.  The right handed hitter showed quick hands and good strength to put a charge into the 87 mph fastball located on the inside third of the plate.

Shane Muntz (2017 C, Phoenixville, PA) is a primary catcher but he showed some arm strength on the mound as well.  The physical, 6-foot-4, 245 pound pitcher is still developing his command, but he ran his fastball up to 87 mph and flashed a low-70s curveball.

Christian Santana (2017 RHP, Hialeah, FL) is also a primary position player that showed some arm strength from the mound. The athletic righty hit 88 on the radar gun. He also flashed a solid curveball with 11/5 to 12/6 shape and good depth. Santana struck out four in his two innings of work.

Triston Casas (2019 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) stung the ball again, driving a double down the right field line on a fastball on the inner half of the plate.

Batting Practice Highlights-Session 2 >>

6/16/2015 9:48:01 PM

Brandon Dorsey (2017 3B, Mount Airy, MD) has a strong, physical build and uses that strength in his right-handed swing. A University of North Carolina commit, Dorsey is able to generate very interesting power with big leverage and natural lift at contact and loud, hard contact to his pull side.

Christian Santana (2017 RHP, Hialeah, FL) uses his quick hands well while staying short to the ball to produce consistent and hard line drive contact to his pull side, clanking some balls off the Green Monster. He showed the ability to go to all fields and does so while showing a consistent feel for the barrel.

Patrick Sisk (2017 3B, Fox Point, WI) is a strong 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed bat who shows leverage in his swing and big life coming off the barrel. Sisk does a nice job of generating bat speed while going gap-to-gap with strength with solid carry off the barrel.

Bubba Sangster (2017 1B, Altoona, FL) opened eyes and provided one of those moments that makes you say “wow” and look at the person next to you to confirm what you saw. With fast hands, Sangster is able to generates plenty of bat speed and used his strength to blast a ball deep to centerfield, clearing the wall while jumping off the barrel with excellent carry.

Triston Casas (2019 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) might be one of the youngest players in the showcase but his tools blend in with anybody in attendance. With strength throughout his frame, including his hands, Casas shifts his weight through his lower half well with lift in his swing and the ability to drive the ball to all fields.

Alejandro Toral (2017 1B, Davie, FL) has long been known for his potent left-handed bat and he again put it on display during his round. Beginning his round by showing the ability to drive to the opposite field, the uncommitted Toral turned it on his last few swing and put three bats out in succession, all three well over the wall in right center field.

Kyle Jacobsen (2017 OF, Acworth, GA) set the tone for a strong overall showing this showcase, putting both his hit and power tools on display. Showing rhythm and an easy swing, the uncomitted Jacobsen shows fluidity in his bat path and put two balls over the Green Monster.

Mark Vientos (2017 SS, Pembroke Pines, FL) is a University of Miami commit and has been on the national scene for some time now. With a long and projectable 6-foot-3 frame, Vientos put his power on display Sunday night hitting two home runs over the Monster showing nice natural lift in his right-handed swing.

Evan Hooper (2017 OF, Cabot, AR) is a high end athlete full of athleticism and muscle, two traits that play well into his right-handed swing. Staying very consistent throughout his round, Hooper showed a strong feel for the barrel with impressive jump coming off when squared

Darion Jacoby (2017 OF, Pottsville, PA) is full of quick-twitch muscle in his stronger 5-foot-11 frame and still has some room to add more strength. With quick hands helping generate interesting bat speed in his right-handed swing, Jacoby stayed very balanced with nice rhythm with lift and jump off his barrel to the middle of the field.

Ryan Vilade (2017 SS, Frisco, TX) employs a short and fluid path to the ball with solid bat speed while showing the ability to drive to the opposite field. Showing loose wrists and hands in his swing, the Oklahoma State commit shows natural lift in his swing with hard line drive contact to all fields.

Jack Roberts (2017 SS, Middletown, MD) starts with an upright stance but stays balanced well in his swing while showing a strong feel for the barrel of the bat. With quick hands Roberts consistently hit to the middle of the field with nice leverage at contact and good life coming off the barrel.

Zachary DeLoach (2017 RHP, Lewisville, TX) uses his 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame well in his strength to create nice bat speed from the right side. With a big leg lift at the start of his swing, DeLoach shows big strength and jump of the barrel when he stays on time.

Cole McNamee (2017 3B, Milton, GA) showed what was in store for his in game at-bats, putting two balls well over the Green Monster before putting another one out, this time off live pitching. His right-handed swing shows fluidity and he uses his strength and long 6-foot-4 frame well to create leverage in swing.

Andres Santana (2017 3B, Miami, FL) uses quick hands and a short bat path in his swing while staying extremely fluid in his right-handed swing. With a nice feel for the barrel, Santana shows nice carry and strength off the barrel to his pull side as he’s able to get his hands in a good position at the start of his swing.

Cooper Swanson (2017 SS, Fort Myers, FL) is a Vanderbilt commit who creates nice whip with his barrel with quick hands and shows a short path to the ball. He has a consistent feel for the barrel and shows strength coming off while projecting for more in the near future.

Angel Tiburcio (2018 RHP, Wellington, FL) just finished his freshman year but his strong 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame wouldn’t suggest his age. With a small weight shift through his lower half, Tiburcio generates solid extension in his easy swing with nice jump coming off the barrel.

White v. Texas Orange Highlights >>

6/15/2015 10:37:14 PM

Brandon McCabe (2017 RHP, Boynton Beach, FL) showed the top velocity of the game and the highest of the showcase to date.  The Miami commit touched 92 a few times, and settled in the 89-91 mph range in his one inning of work.  He overpowered opposing hitters with the heater and also flashed a sharp 12/6 curveball at 79 mph.

Jack Owen (2017 LHP, Coto De Caza, CA) has some funk and deception in his delivery.  The lefthanded pitcher threw a hitless two innings, and he showed solid feel for pitching, mixing in his mid-80s fastball and low-70s changeup well.

Cooper Swanson (2017 SS, Fort Myers, FL) had a very nice round of batting practice and carried it over into the game action. Swanson has quick hands and does a solid job of getting the bat head out and extended.  He rifled a ball past the third baseman for an RBI single.

Everett Hurst (2017 RHP, Sebring, FL) showed a solid feel for three pitches.  He ran his fastball up to 88 mph, working comfortably in the 84-87 range, and flashed a low-70s curveball with late break and 72-74 mph changeup.

Donovan Langston (2017 SS, Frisco, TX) made a very nice play defensively while manning second base. The compactly built, 5-foot-9, 160 pounder showed good range and took a great route to a foul ball in the no-man’s land behind first base near the right field wall.

Brian Morrell (2017 RHP, Wading River, NY) showed a quick arm and a lively fastball. The 6-foot, 180 pound righty worked two innings and struck out three using a fastball in the 84-88 mph range and a breaking ball that flashed sharp bite from an 11/5 shape.

Cole McNamee (2017 3B, Milton, GA) hit the showcases only in-game homerun thus far. The strongly-built 6-foot-4, 220 pound right handed hitter showed off his strength and physicality by depositing an 81 mph fastball over the Jet Blue Park’s Green Monster in left field.

Red v. Royal Highlights >>

6/15/2015 9:08:35 PM

Cash Case (2017 SS, Mount Dora, FL) made an impression on the first pitch of the game. The switch-hitter, batting left handed in this instance, showed a fast barrel by barreling up a first pitch fastball on the inner half and driving it to right field for a leadoff single.

Joseph Perez (2017 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) is a physically-built 6-foot-2, 210 pounds. The righthanded hitter displayed a solid approach and good feel for the barrel, in driving a fastball on the outer 1/3 the other way, past a diving second baseman.

Johnny Leone (2017 RHP, Hollywood, FL) struck out three in two scoreless innings. Leone displayed good command of his fastball, and started throwing harder in his second inning of work, consistently sitting in 86-87 mph range. He also showcased a very good, fading changeup in the low-70s that induced a handful of swing and misses.

Zach Jackson (2017 C, Haines City, FL) made solid contact on a 74 mph curveball. The left handed hitter did a good job of keeping his hands back and exploding through contact, as he caught the barrel flush and drove a double past a diving rightfielder.

Shane Muntz (2017 C, Phoenixville, PA) is another physically built right handed hitter. The 6-foot-4, 245 pounder drove in two runs with a single through the 5/6 hole.

Kyle Jacobsen (2017 OF, Acworth, GA) showed off a strong, accurate arm while playing center field.  Jacobsen, who also pitches, displayed solid footwork, charging the ball well and firing a strike to third base nailing a runner that was trying to advance from first on a single.

Bryce Jarvis (2017 RHP, Franklin, TN) is a projectable, 6-foot-1, 165 pound right handed pitcher. Jarvis ran his fastball up to 89 mph and sat comfortably in the 85-87 mph range.  He has solid command and was able to locate to the gloveside. Jarvis also worked in a quality changeup in the mid-70s that had good fading life. He struck out two in his two scoreless innings.

Trent Vietmeier (2017 RHP, Pittsburgh, PA) showed some good velocity early in his two inning stint.  In his first frame he was working in the 88-91 mph range, and topped out at 92. He also worked in a 12/6 curveball that flashed some depth and a straight changeup. He struck out two batters.

Triston Casas (2019 3B, Pembroke Pines, FL) is an extremely physical rising freshman. At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, the left handed hitting Casas is certainly used to playing above his age group. The Miami commit showed confidence in the box and strong hands in barreling up an 87 mph fastball and driving it up the middle for a single.

Bubba Sangster (2017 1B, Altoona, FL) put on a show in batting practice with three BP homers, and he showed a solid feel for hitting in game action, working with an outside fastball and driving it down the right field line for a triple.

CJ Smith (2017 LHP, Royston, GA) showed an aggressive approach on the mound and solid feel for three pitches. He threw a lot of strikes and attacked opposing hitters with a mid-80s fastball that topped out at 86, a solid 75-77 mph changeup with fade, and a developing curveball in the upper-60s with 1-7 shape. He struck out two in his two innings of work.
