EMERSON, Ga. – The final week of the WWBA tournament series kicks off with the 14u WWBA National Championship at Perfect Game Park South at LakePoint. The event starts on Friday, July 18th and goes until Friday, July 25th. It will also be held at some of the surrounding high school fields and local area parks.

This is eighth edition of the 14u tournament. Last year’s event saw 66 teams take part, while this year the number has risen to 72 teams. 19 states including Georgia, Delaware, Florida, Alabama, New York, North Carolina, Connecticut, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Indiana, Kentucky, California, Massachusetts, Virginia, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey will be represented.

Last year’s event was cut short due to rain. Four teams remained when the rain washed out the end of tournament: The Dulin Dodgers, Kentucky Baseball Club-Boggs, the Louisiana Tigers, and Gladiator Baseball. Kentucky Baseball was awarded the championship for being the highest seed.

Three of those four teams (Kentucky Baseball, Dulin, and Gladiator Baseball) will be in this year’s event.

The East Cobb Astros are looking to add to their collection of 14u WWBA titles. In the seven previous years that this event has taken place, the Astros have won four of them. Those titles took place in 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011.
