Banfield is one of the most physically gifted defensive catchers of the last decade and perhaps the best all-around high school catching prospect since Bryce Harper played the position. He combines athletic quickness behind the plate with tremendous flexibility, strong hands and plus, plus throwing arm. His pop times are regularly in the 1.8-second range in games and lower in drills. He's also a strong righthanded hitter with power and hit .409-7-33 as a high school junior.
