Childress is a physically mature lefthander with a durable, strong body and a full four-pitch arsenal to attack hitters with. His 90-94 mph fastball has good tailing life but the key to his success and future are his outstanding secondary pitches. Childress has outstanding feel for spinning the ball and will work between 74 and 81 mph, changing from a curveball to slider and manipulating shape and location with maturity. He also has a pretty advanced changeup that may end up as a plus pitch.
