Championship Game Summary

 

The Indiana Yankees topped the Wisconsin Blazers 14-6 on a beautiful Monday afternoon at the New Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, home of the Anaheim Angels minor league affiliate Cedar Rapids Kernels.
 
Manager Buddy Swift and his Yankees gained the automatic berth to the WWBA Championship in Jupiter, Florida, Oct. 22-25, by winning three straight games Monday.  They defeated the St. Louis Pirates 7-3, the St. Louis Diamond Stars Red 8-7 and then routed the Blazers 14-6 in five innnings.
 
The Yankees were led by top prospect and tournament MVP Mike Bowden who went 10 for 19 with 2 homers, 1 triple, 2 doubles and 7 runs batted in.  He also went 3-4 in the championship game and pitched a 2-hit complete game victory over Major League Beginnings in their last pool game to solidify their spot into the championship bracket. 
 
Jeremy Kuester took home the most Valuable Pitcher award by topping the St. Louis Pirates in the first round of the playoffs and then earning the save in the semifinal game over the Diamond Stars Red.
