2006 National Underclass Showcase
Joshua West is a 2008 RHP/OF/3B with a 6'1", 178 lb frame from Frankfort, IL who attends A.B. Shepard HS. Joshua has a tall lean build and showed solid all-around athletic ability at the showcase. He has a medium arm action on the mound and gets a good downhill plane with life on his pitches. Joshua is a max effort pitcher that tends to get jerky in his mechanics causing him to struggle with his command some. He gets a good amount out of his lower half, but would throw harder if he cleaned up his delivery. At the plate Joshua has a very aggressive hitting approach with good bat speed and nice extension. He has an all or nothing approach at the plate and could improve his mechanics as he bails out some on the ball. In the field Joshua really gets after the ball very hard in the infield and outfield and might be best to slow his game down a bit. Joshua is a player that could attract the attention of some mid-level college programs.
