Andrew Carpenter is a 2008 3B/P/SS with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Dayton, OH who attends Oakwood HS. He has a strong athletic build and is pretty mature physically. Carpenter's best tool on defense is his arm strength, he threw 87 mph across the diamond from an overhand release point with good carry. His hands worked well on ground balls but he'll have to keep working hard on his footwork and flexibility. Carpenter hits with high elbows in his set up and his late trigger leaves him behind the ball frequently when faced with top level stuff. He worked his hands inside the ball well and showed gap to gap power and good late bat speed. Carpenter has some lift in his swing and probably hits his share of home runs. He is a very good student.

Andrew Carpenter is a 2008 3B/P/SS with a 6', 185 lb frame from Dayton, OH who attends Oakwood HS. Andrew has an athletic build and good present strength in his body. At the plate Andrew has good hand quickness and a line-drive swing plane. He has the tools to be a solid hitter, but Andrew has a very busy set-up that has a lot of wasted movement. He needs to get ready to hit earlier and work on his balance and leverage in his approach. In the field Andrew has good hands and solid raw arm strength. He would be best to stay at third base as his footwork is a little raw at this point and uses a few extra steps. On the mound Andrew throws from an OH arm slot with a long arm action. With improved mechanics, Andrew could pick up a lot of velocity. Andrew is a strong student that should attract the attention of many mid-level college programs.
