Dey is a 5-10 sophomore third baseman from Georgia. He has a very strong and mature body for a 2007 graduate with good strength in his hips and legs. Dey showed good defensive ability at third base. His arm works well and he threw 80 mph across the infield in drills. Dey’s range at third base was solid, too. Dey has good hand strength which helps him create bat speed from a line drive swing plane. He’ll become a better hitter when he calms down all the excess movement before he starts his swing and can develop a simple timing mechanism. Dey has a big hand hitch to get the bat moving and raises up on his toes as he starts his swing. Dey also took a short turn on the mound and duplicated the arm strength he showed in the field. He topped out at 80 mph on his fastball with a 62-64 mph curveball and did a good job throwing strikes.
