Scott Svilich is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Gold River CA, who attends Jesuit HS. Svilich has a nice pitcher's frame. He is broad up top and looks to have good present day strength and more room to fill out. He pitches from a high 3/4 slot, with a short backside arm stroke. There is decent extension on the front side and he has a patient delivery. Svilich works primarily with the fastball, which has a little run. He is most effective when he is hitting his spots precisely. There is little room for error with his command as his fastball velocity is still in the development stages. One of his best attributes is his composure on the mound. He has a workmanlike approach and just keeps grinding. When he is throwing strikes, he can effectively upset hitters' timing for stretches and would be used best in a change of pace, reliever capacity. Svilich showed some toughness by working through a hamstring issue that developed during the 60 yard dash. He is a solid student.
