2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Overholtzer is a 5-10, 155 lb left handed outfielder from Maryland. He has a slender frame but good wiry strength. Overholtzer ran the 60 in 7.31 and threw a strong 83 mph from the outfield during drills. He got very good jumps in the outfield during the games and showed good closing speed on fly balls. He can play the outfield defensively at a high level. Offensively, Overholtzer is an advanced hitter from the left side. He has a quick, crisp swing with a short stride to the ball and good extension through contact. He does tend to get out on his front side quickly but handles the bat head well and makes consistent hard contact. Overholtzer even showed some gap to gap power. He's the type of hitter who looks like he's going to be able to hit well against top level pitching because of his approach and his hand speed. He's been a steady performer when we've seen him in game situations and he knows how to play. Very good student with a bright baseball future.
