Corey Kimes is a 2008 LHP with a 6'5'', 235 lb. frame from Ottawa, IL who attends Ottawa Township HS. Big body, long torso, very good strength. Back turn delivery, full wind up, extended 3/4's release. Arm is loose/smooth, live 84-86 mph FB with lots of tail when down, CB flashes quality spin, mechanics inconsistent on CB, developing change. Potential to keep improving. Could light it up this spring. Signed with Illinois.

Corey Kimes is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'5'', 235 lb. frame from Ottawa IL, who attends Ottawa Township HS. He has an extra large frame with wide shoulders, loose hips and good overall strength. There will be inevitable comparisons between Kimes and David Wells physically and in pitching mechanics, although Kimes doesn't have the mid-section that Wells developed as he got older. Kimes throws from a full wind up and hip turn and does a good job throwing around his core. He has a long, flowing arm action and a mid-3/4's release point and the ball leaves his hand smoothly out front. Kimes' best pitch was a big sweeping slider he threw at 77 mph and was able to move in and out effectively to right handed hitters. His fastball was steady at 85-86 mph and he pitched inside aggressively to right handed hitters. Kimes change up was a deceptive pitch with good arm speed and running action at 72 mph and he even took off a bit on a few sliders and threw a bigger curveball. Kimes has all the pitches and a very mature idea how to use them. He could really come on as his big body gets stronger and he'll be a fun one to watch pitch when he's got his game going. Follow very closely.

Corey Kimes is a 2008 LHP/1B/OF from Ottawa, IL with a large frame and good present strength at 6-4, 200 lbs. He pitches from a low ¾ arm slot with a free and easy delivery. His arm works well. His fastball is at 84 mph with nice arm side life and heavy sink. His breaking pitch has a slurve-like action and is very deceptive. He has a good change with sink and fade. He is a young kid that knows how to pitch and he has good command. He has a very high ceiling and he will throw 90+ someday. He has a huge upside and he is a must follow for 2008.
