Keith Schmidt is a 2007 RHP/C with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Smithtown, NY who attends Smithtown HS. He has good pitcher's frame with nice height and strength. Keith throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a rather unusual delivery on the mound. He separtes his hands very early showing the ball to the hitter and will want to make an adjustment in this part of his delivery. He will show some nice tumble on a split-finger and his best pitch is his curveball. At the plate Keith has good strong forearms and nice power. He tends to dive in on the ball and really needs to work on improving his balance. Behind the plate Keith has a good feel for the game and is a solid receiver. He will need to work on improving his transfer and release. Keith is a player that could attract the attention of a few smaller colleges.
