2006 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Charith Perera is a 2007 MIF/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Toronto ON, who attends Agincourt HS. He has a live, athletic body and looks like he has very long arms and legs for his relative size. Perera ran the 60 in 6.97 and showed nice first step quickness defensively and on the bases. He can really play defense at second base. Perera showed very good range and soft hands during the games and his long arms and legs give him a Jose Lind type of look when he's going after balls. He made some difficult plays look easy. Offensively, Perera hits out of a spread stance and gets his weight to his front side early. He's a contact hitter who is looking to slap the ball where it's pitched. He showed bat head skills and made consistent contact but will need to add some physical strength in order to be able to drive the ball well. Perera had a great approach on the field and had lots of fun playing, especially on defense.
