J.D. Hoskins is a 2008 RHP with a 6'2'', 187 lb. frame from Palm Beach Gardens FL, who attends KIngs Academy. He has a good pitcher's body, with nice present strength throughout. Hoskins pitches from a drop and drive delivery with a loose, long arm action. He has good arm speed and can repeat his delivery and release point well. Hoskins fastball was 80-83 mph and topped out at 85 mph with some arm side running action. His best pitch was a 72 mph knuckle curveball that had good spin and a hard 11/5 bite to it. Hoskins curveball is a swing and miss pitch at times and he showed a good ability to command the pitch in the strike zone. He also threw a 71 mph change up that had nice sinking action. Hoskins has a good feel for pitching, three solid pitches and pitches aggressively. He should be a solid pitcher at the next level. Hoskins is also a good student.
