RHP Chris Rollins (Blue Anchor, NJ): Rollins just started pitching this year and has shown great progress. Formally on the prospect charts as a shortstop, the 6-4, 190 lb Rollins is a very good athlete. He jumped up the charts after we saw him pitch in this Winter's World Showcase. He pitched at 86-88 in Cedar Rapids, down from his reported 92-93 tops this spring. Rollins can spin the ball and could be a high ceiling young pitcher when he refines his mechanics. Do not forget this pitcher he's going to make a big name for himself.

Chris Rollins is a 2005 shortstop/right handed pitcher from Blue Anchor, New Jersey. Rollins was one of the more pleasant surprises of the event. He lists himself as a primary shortstop, but we put Rollins into our top 100 as a RHP. He just began pitching, but he has a very projectable arm and a great pitcher's body at 6'4/190. He needs some time to get his mechanics worked out, which is very understandable since he never pitched in high school. He has great arm speed with a clean and loose arm. His fastball topped out at 90 mph, but there is much more velocity there. Rollins also threw a sweeping curveball with some spin. If Rollins is willing to work on his mechanics and decides to be a pitcher, we think he would have a great pro and college future. The thing is, Rollins is good with the bat as well. He is a very aggressive hitter with a quick bat. He does have some hand movement in his swing, but he makes solid contact and has power potential. Defensively, he has a great arm with good actions that could play at shortstop or third base. Rollins is a player that should have every college in the country after him, and the professional scouts should see him this spring. A top prospect in the country.
