2006 National Underclass Showcase
Jesse Hunter is a 2009 LHP/OF with a 5'9", 145 lb frame from Port St Lucie, FL who attends Port St Lucie HS. Jesse has a lean build with plenty of room to fill out and showed some nice upside on the mound at the showcase. He throws with a long loose arm action to go with a smooth balanced delivery. He shows a good feel for a hard-breaking 11 to 5 curveball as well as a changeup with nice sink and run. Jesse already has very good polish and just needs to add some velocity to complement his feel for pitching. At the plate Jesse has a line-drive approach with a short quick swing. He really lacks the strength to drive the ball at this point, but you can tell he understands what needs to be done at the plate. Jesse is a player that should attract the attention of many mid-level college programs.
