Evan Rainford is a 2008 middle infielder from Lake Village, Indiana, with a 5'2", 110 lb. frame. He is very good defensively. Rainford has very soft hands with smooth actions in the middle infield. His footwork was good with solid range to both sides. He has a smooth arm and made accurate throws. He is a switch hitter who is better from the right side at this time. He has a good approach at the plate with good balance. Rainford has good bat speed from the right side, and is short and quick to the ball. Left handed he just doesn’t have as much bat speed. He shows good bat control and can put the ball in play and make things happen. He is a line drive hitter, and is aggressive at the plate. Rainford's overall game will continue to improve as he matures and adds strength. He is a scrappy and competitive type player that we like to see. He is a player to watch develop.
