Jack Armstrong is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'7'', 200 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends Jupiter HS. He has a long, loose and athletic build with tons of projection. Armstrong has a very loose and long arm action and throws with little effort. He has very good downward plane to his pitches from a high 3/4's release point. Armstrong hasn't gained any velocity in the last year and threw 87-89 mph in Cincinnati, touching 90 mph a couple of times, but it's obvious that there is plenty more in his arm. Armstrong tended to pull off and down early on his pitches and this left him casting his curveball frequently, leaving it with a big rolling break. When he stayed over it it showed good downer break. He also mixed in a few 78 mph change ups. Armstrong is highly athletic and shows plus power as a first baseman and runs the 60 in 6.91. During the summer WWBA events he stood out more as a first baseman than as a pitcher, actually. Armstrong is also a star basketball player and comes from a very athletic family. His father Jack was a former 1st round pick and ML pitcher and his mother's brother played quarterback in the NFL. Armstrong is an outstanding student. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.

Jack Armstrong is a 2008 RHP/1B/SS with a 6'7'', 200 lb. frame from Jupiter FL, who attends Jupiter HS. He has a very tall frame with extra long arms and legs and the pro scouts will probably say they couldn't design a better pitcher's build. The first thing you note about Armstrong is that despite his size he is very athletic and has the actions of a 6-1 type athlete. He moves easily and with balance and coordination. Not surprisingly, Armstrong looked very fluid and agile at first base on defense and hit the ball well with power on offense. On the mound, Armstrong has a fluid, low effort delivery and the ball comes out of his hand easily. His arm action is long and lean and he has excellent downhill angle on his pitches. His fastball was 87-89 mph and was sneaky fast because of his effortless delivery and plus extension out front. Armstrong's curveball was solid at 73 mph, with good shape and consistent spin and command. It should get sharper in the future. He didn't throw a change up. Armstrong has a good feel for pitching and knew where he was throwing the ball. He could easily be a mid-90's guy before long. Armstrong is the son of former Major League RHP Jack Armstrong. He is an excellent student and was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
