Eddie Young is a 2008 MIF with a 5'11'', 178 lb. frame from El Cajon CA, who attends Christian HS. Eddie has an athletic build and showed outstanding raw tools at the showcase. At the plate Eddie has a short quick swing with good bat speed. He is able to center the ball well and showed nice gap to gap pop. His balance could use a little work, but overall Eddie has all the tools to be a very good Division I hitter. In the infield Eddie has very good actions with big-time arm strength. He shows very good athleticm with a quick release, soft hands and good footwork in the field. Eddie is a good student with a ton of potential. He will be a highest-level Division I prospect and could also attract some attention from pro scouts.

Eddie Young is a 2008 left hand hitting middle infielder from Christian HS, residing in El Cajon, CA. Young has a 5'10" 175 lb. frame and a compact, strong body type that is built for the middle of the diamond. He could be called a "gamer" because of his tenacity and grittiness on the field, but that might suggest that his ability is lacking, which it clearly is not. At the plate he makes consistently good barrel contact, resulting in line drives to all fields. He is particluarly adept at hitting the ball the opposite way due to his ability to see the ball well and letting it travel deep into the hitting zone. Young's hands are quite good at the plate and he stays inside the ball well, keeping the barrel in the zone for a long time. With future strength gains will come some power. Defensively he is a difference maker. Young is tough around the bag and shows plus feel for the defensive half of the game. He can really turn the double play and hangs in there well with the runner bearing down on him. His actions are efficient and his angles are good. Young has good hands and a good middle infield arm, allowing him the capability to play on either side of the bag. He is a very good "baseball player" who also possesses quality tools.
