Chris Ferguson -- Ferguson threw 4 innings in Fort Myers and did a good job throwing strikes. He’s a very projectable 6-4 right hander from Georgia with an ideal pitcher’s body. Ferguson’s mechanics aren’t helping him much right now. He uses a short stride and throws across his body and doesn’t get much use of his lower half at all. Ferguson is throwing 80-82 mph right now despite no direction and no extension and could leap forward with his stuff with some adjustment. Ferguson’s curveball is 67-69 mph with a big, looping break to it. It’s worth noting that Ferguson took a very good batting practice and showed college level power with wood. This young man has a much higher ceiling than he’s showing right now. Chris is a good student.
